Adam and Hayden have history. They’ve been best friends since they were ten years old, but over the years it’s been harder to maintain the friendship. Adam has been in love with Hayden for as long as he can remember but he has always felt like she has never seen him and has just used him to get the person she really wanted, it doesn’t help that Adam has always hated him.
For Hayden, Covey U was meant to be the place where she could finally start over. Life had been rough recently and getting away from it all was just what Hayden needed, Hayden looks completely different to how people remember her to be and she’s not going by the name, she’s always been know.n as either.
Unfortunately, her hopes of forgetting her old life and past mistakes come to a halt when she runs into none other than her best friend Adam, who her roommate is infatuated with. Now Hayden is doing her best to avoid the best friend she’s always loved with the hope that the secrets, lies and rumours of her past stay buried.
I loved this story. Adam is such a sweetheart and my heart breaks at the thought of him believing that he’s a doormat. He’s never been able to get over Hayden, he’s always loved her, even when she didn’t see him, even when she used him. He’s never been able to forget or replace her. Even though it’s been years since they’ve seen or talked to each other, she occupies his every thought. The moment Adam recognises and realises that his best friend is in front of him again after so long, you can just tell that he’ll do anything to protect her and be near her, even if he doesn’t know why she’s at Covey U. Going through their history in past chapters and memories ripped my heart apart, it just feels as if they kept missing their chances with each other but this time, Adam isn’t letting fear or another guy get in
