Rate this book
Soldier of Hope: A POW Survival Story in Afghanistan, is a Christian, action-suspense novella by D.I. Telbat. After six years in Taliban captivity, Army Ranger Jeff Grant runs for his life in an effort to return to his praying family in America. Though the US government believes he's dead, Jeff is far from being KIA. He has thrived in captivity as a porter for the militants.

But escaping and evading his Taliban captors is not so easy in Afghanistan. The militants are armed and bloodthirsty, and the terrain is unforgiving. Deep gorges and forgotten minefields, raging rivers and dangerous goat trails, are just a few of the obstacles Jeff must surmount as bullets zip past.

Trained as an honorable soldier, Jeff casts his every effort before God, praying to stay alive long enough to see his family again. Have they forgotten him as the government has? As a soldier of hope, Jeff believes that God has a plan for him beyond the torment and torture.

With cover design by Cindy L. Anderson, Soldier of Hope is a 13,900-word novella. The book includes a free PDF map download, and BONUS Chapter of action-suspense novel, Arabian Variable by D.I. Telbat.

I've been writing novels and short stories since I was a young teen. God has greatly impacted me, and I now desire to honor the Lord with my life and writing.

My stories can be read in several online and print publications, as well as three anthologies. My bestselling COIL Series include novels Dark Liaison, Book One; Dark Hearted, Book Two; Dark Rule, Book Three; and Dark Vessel, Book Four, and are available at most e-retailers, as are Jaguar Dusk, a Christian Special Forces novel, Sea Scribe, a Covert Christian Mission Suspense, and End Times Novel, God's Colonel. See my website for other novels and stories added often, including Dark Cover, COIL Book Five, to be out late 2014.

I offer free weekly Christian short stories, or serialized novels, my Author Reflections, and occasional challenges to the Christian Church on my Telbat's Tablet blog at http://ditelbat.com.

When I'm not writing, I'm very involved in Christian ministry. I've kept my home office in the NW U.S. where my assistant, Dee, lives and helps with my editing and writing needs.

My motto: There is no redemption without sacrifice.

Pretty good book, enjoyable read.

I like this book. It is a clean read and enjoyable read for an afternoon. I was glad to see that he made it out of the mountains of Afghanistan alive. Was glad to see his family there to meet him in the end. Not all stories like this have a happy ending.

Must be true!

Although the book is fictional, the story has been repeated with some variation through countless wars. This novella was written so beautifully and was so heartbreaking to read and yet the ending is uplifting and wonderful to read! I can’t thank the author enough for providing clean, spiritual stories!

A great read in this series

D I Telbat continues his story about COIL and how Christians are being persecuted. The operatives of COIL have had a plan in the works for a long time but can it be implicated.

Too Short!

So realistic in the story telling! How God sustains us mere humans to be able to endure such hardships! The shear will and determination to survive can be amazing! This story is filled with hope!

Good story

Good story but not Telbat's best. Arabian Variable is by far his best stand alone book in my opinion. Looking forward to read next book
