Nella Valle dei Mulini abitavano uomini, donne e ragazzi simili a tanti. Poi arrivarono le Macchine Perfette.
Da allora basta premere un bottone per avere un dolce delizioso, una giornata splendida, un amico fantastico. Basta schiacciare un pulsante per vivere in un mondo perfetto. E noioso.
È così che tutti hanno smesso di sognare. I desideri non servono più, si ferma il vento e i mulini si addormentano.
Ma la sarta e l’uomo uccello, che senza brezza non può sperare di volare, non si arrendono e ricordano a tutti la magia e la bellezza dei sogni.
Da allora basta premere un bottone per avere un dolce delizioso, una giornata splendida, un amico fantastico. Basta schiacciare un pulsante per vivere in un mondo perfetto. E noioso.

She travelled throughout Latin America and Europe as a narrator, travel writer, and teacher of native music for children. She has participated in programs to promote children s literature, published short stories and poetry, and translated children s stories from Italian, French, and English into Spanish. In 2010 she moved to Lyon, France, where she currently lives.

Incuriosita dalla preziosa segnalazione di Ajeje, mi metto alla ricerca di questo libriccino per ragazzi che presumo possa fare anche al caso del bambino che sopravvive per fortuna in ogni adulto.
Storia breve, ma densa di significato, che ci ricorda l'importanza dei sogni pur in un mondo di macchine perfette. Perché quando si smette di sognare, la vita non ha più senso e il mondo non appare poi così perfetto.
L'autrice Noelia Blanco e l'illustratrice Valeria Docampo, entrambe argentine, firmano un dolcissimo racconto che ha il sapore magico del vento.

In de vallei van de wentelmolens wordt het dagelijks leven overgenomen door modelmachines. Niemand is kwaad dat vervelende klusjes ineens tot het verleden behoren. Maar naast die vervelende klusjes zijn er ook de leuke uitdagingen, de klusjes die veel voldoening geven of die zorgen voor sociale coherentie die plots niet meer doorgaan.
Niemand in de vallei van de wentelmolens hoeft nog te dromen, plannen te maken en doelen te stellen.
Toch blijft één iemand, het naaistertje Anna, dromen. Ze ontmoet de Vogelman, die ook nog een droom heeft en die graag wil vliegen. Anna wil hem helpen zijn droom waar te maken en naait voor hem een vleugelpak. Hierdoor komt de vallei terug tot leven.
Dit is een prachtig, maar niet écht gemakkelijk verhaal, om voor te lezen aan kinderen vanaf 7 jaar. Het leidt tot leuke babbels over wensen en over de haalbaarheid van die wensen.
Ik las het verhaal voor aan een groepje achtjarigen en stond versteld hoe zelfs het meest timide kind van de groep haar wens in mijn oor kwam fluisteren (zij wenste goed te kunnen lezen!).
Niet onbelangrijk bij het boek: de illustraties van Valeria Docampo staan op het netvlies van voorlezer en luisteraar gebrand.
Voor wie graag voorleest aan groepen: het verhaal is ook beschikbaar als vertelplaat in een vertelkast (Kamishibai).

The story is quite simple but really wholesome ! It's directed towards a young audience but it's message is even more effective when you read it as an adult. It translates in a beautiful and poetic way what happens when humans and technology meet, and what we lose as a society.
Besides that, the art is fabulous. I love how Anna's vibrant hair contrast with the dark backgrounds and other characters. And I love the texture of the drawings ! I first picked this book art because of the art :)

Bijzonder mooi boek over dromen vervullen en met prachtige illustraties. Door de rode haren van Anna springt ze er telkens uit. Mooi einde waarin alle dromen zijn uitgekomen.

Il tratto di Valeria Docampo è inconfondibile. Una delle migliori tra gli illustratori pubblicati da Terre di Mezzo. Pecca che questa storia non sia al livello di altre lette e illustrate da Valeria. Manca la poesia della fabbrica delle parole, sebbene il tema sia analogo: macchine che rubano sogni e portano una fantomatica perfezione che gli uomini, carne e sentimenti, sembrano non raggiungere mai.

Enfes çizimler! Hatta mükemmel, büyüleyici ve müthiş çizimler, baktıkça bakası geliyor insanın. Üstüne üstlük konu da çok iyi. Çocuklar için mükemmel bir seçim orası tartışılmaz. Ama yetişkinler için de mükemmel bir okuma ve göz şenliği sunacaktır.

Translated into English as "The Mill Valley". Saw this in the children's section at the bookstore, bought it for myself because of the artwork. This is a beautifully illustrated book for children telling a story that's in fact meant for adults. Or, perhaps better said, the older the person the better it will be able to truly understand it.
It's a tale about society, humanity, dreams and... virtual reality (sort of). A cautionary tale, in fact. One day, the Perfect Machines came to the Mill Valley. With the touch of a button, the residents of the Valley could "plug" themselves into the Machines, where their every desire would come true. Soon, the mills came to a halt, and no living soul could be seen in the streets... except Anna, who still held to her dreams...
I didn't flip through the text before purchasing this book. Didn't even look at all the illustrations, I wanted it to be a surprise. By the end, I have to admit I had been expecting a more sci-fi story, more focused on the Perfect Machines. I guess I was looking for some sort of Terminator-lite tale, foolishly, I know. The whole Perfect Machine angle, however, is just a backdrop for the rather usual "follow your dreams" cliche. Which is perfectly fine.
Noelia Blanco took a timeless trope to pen a very nice story, while Valeria Docampo illustrated it beautifully. This book deserves to be on everybody's bookshelf!

El Valle de los Molinos es un cuento muy bonito que pueden disfrutar tanto niños como adultos. A través de una corta historia que se lee en un suspiro nos muestran valores como que "nunca debemos dejar de soñar", "no está mal ser diferente" o "no debemos dejar que las máquinas dominen nuestra vida". Me parece una crítica velada hacia nuestra sociedad, donde cada vez los aparatos electrónicos tienen más importancia y perdemos el placer por las pequeñas cosas, incluidas aquellas que podemos hacer nosotros mismos de manera artesanal.
Me ha gustado mucho la importancia que se le da a tener sueños y a nunca dejarlos atrás, porque al fin y al cabo soñar nos da alas y mantiene la ilusión por la vida.
Otro punto a favor del libro es que visualmente es muy bonito. Me encanta el estilo de dibujo de la ilustradora y la elección de la paleta de colores, que hacen que te detengas a mirar las preciosas ilustraciones.
Me ha gustado mucho la importancia que se le da a tener sueños y a nunca dejarlos atrás, porque al fin y al cabo soñar nos da alas y mantiene la ilusión por la vida.
Otro punto a favor del libro es que visualmente es muy bonito. Me encanta el estilo de dibujo de la ilustradora y la elección de la paleta de colores, que hacen que te detengas a mirar las preciosas ilustraciones.

Strepitoso. Imprescindibile. La sua semplicità, la perfezione e cura della narrazione e la incredibile belleza delle illustrazioni, danno a questo libro la categoria di "Deve Esserci Nella Mia Libreria"... o meglio in quella dei miei figli…
Me Ha dejado muy, muy, muy impresionado. Cada aspecto de este libro está cuidado, las ilustraciones son perfectas, la historia preciosa, el tema de una sencillez que atrapa, tanto a grandes, yo, como a pequeños, mi hijo de tres años... Esta claro que no es un libro para los más pequeñines, en su sencillez esconde una gran profundidad, pero ES un imprescindible para los que quieran crecer con historias maravillosas...

Valeria Docampo does a fabulous job with the illustrations of this book. They are so incredibly atmospheric and beautiful.
The story touches on some good to be discussed points but the writing itself fell a bit flat. The Dutch translation certainly didn’t help matters, but also in other languages the text doesn’t seem to have any sort of spark.

Een filosofische-poëtische, en stylistisch getekend. Het heeft wel iets moois, maar tegelijk stoorde ik me er ook wat aan. Het voelde allemaal wat te toevallig, alsof die trigger evengoed totaal onopgemerkt en dus onsuccesvol had kunnen blijven, en de ommekeer evengoed daarzonder had kunnen gebeuren. En omdat ik me gewoon ook niet kon herkennen in dat opportunistisch luie en oncreatieve gedrag.

Antes de nada quería comentar que esta reseña quedará más corta de lo normal porque el libro tiene solo 40 páginas. Sería un problema desvelar más de lo necesario, así que me tomo la libertad de acortar información (aunque creo que no lo he conseguido).
En el valle de los molinos viven personas corrientes como tú y como yo, hasta que un día llegaron las Máquinas Perfectas. Los habitantes quedaron encantados con esta tecnología que les permitía soñar y hacer todo sin tener ellos que esforzarse. Debido a esto, no se dieron cuenta de que el viento dejó de soplar y los molinos dejaron de funcionar.
Anna es la costurera del pueblo y no cede ante esta tecnología. Una noche conoce a un extraño y la vida de Anna cambiará. Anna es nuestra pequeña protagonista y será la encargada de luchar por sus sueños y de ayudar a los demás a cumplir los suyos.
El valle de los molinos es un cuento corto infantil que nos regala más que una simple historia entre sus páginas. Es un libro que, a pesar de su corta extensión, trata temas muy importantes actualmente, como son la obsesión con la tecnología y el control que tiene sobre nosotros. Además, esta lectura también nos enseña la importancia de nuestros verdaderos sueños; hay que luchar por ellos y no conformarnos con lo que tenemos. Son enseñanzas que tenemos que tener en cuenta porque estos problemas son muy reales y están afectando a nuestra sociedad actual.
Las ilustraciones son una MARAVILLA y es que esta edición es muy bonita, tanto por las ilustraciones como por el formato (tapa dura). No puedo estar más enamorada de este libro porque el dibujo es precioso y transmite mucho.
La pluma de la autora es mágica y me ha gustado su forma de expresarse, a pesar de no tener este cuento mucha cantidad de texto.
El valle de los molinos es un libro infantil muy bonito que tiene unas ilustraciones preciosas y que cuenta con enseñanzas muy importantes tanto para niños como para adultos.
