Lily. She was my gift. A reward for all the years of hard work I'd suffered through. Her fear excited me. Her fight...seduced me. From the beginning, I wanted to keep her. I knew there was no other woman for me. When she was taken, I vowed to get her back. There was nothing that would stop me.

Nothing, but my father.

The deal he had with the Governor stripped me of all entitlements over my slave. She was returned, and me, I was stuck back in the life I'd hated for so long.

Until...she became a murderer.

Her actions broke the deal and erased any agreement to keep me away. And I haven't been far. Even though years have gone by, I've refused to give up. Her guards are relaxing. She's all but forgotten her past. Forgotten ME.

The time has come to remind her of who she really is. Of WHO she belongs to.

LilyLILY is over 120k+ words!!! (Super novel length). Warning: This book contains VERY graphic violence, disturbing situations, dubious consent, and very strong language.

Review for Lily: Captive to the Dark, Special Edition 1 by Alaska Angelini

I’ve been waiting what feels like years for this book. When I first caught wind of what Alaska had planned to do with this one I was instantly intrigued, I honestly had no idea how she could pull it off. As the storyline unfolded and the hours passed by as I read, threatening the lives of any and all that dared interrupt me (Sorry, family, sort of…) pieces kept clicking into place and I realized she did it. She managed to get all of our Captive to the Dark ‘heroes’ in one place, at one time, and they didn’t try to kill each other —- much.

For all of the series fans, you are going to remember why you love to hate to love Slade, Blake, and Gaige. Plus, you’ll get a whole new understanding of the love to hate, hate to love dynamic wrapped up in one larger than life Zain. The readers who haven’t read the original Captive to the Dark series you will easily follow along with the storyline … a slight warning, you might love to hate some of the boys a little more than the rest of us without having read their books first.

This review is going to be so hard to write without spoilers. The storyline is such a complex and intricately woven web that the slightest detail could derail the whole experience.

We met Lily in Slade’s book … in fact, you could say that Slade had a story to tell because of Lily.

I have to derail for a minute here… I love epilogues. Like I would love to marry epilogues and have little epilogue babies. Getting that glimpse into what happens next for the characters I just spent countless minutes living for just DOES it for me as a book whore. There is nothing more satisfying than reading that last little touch.

This special edition version of Captive to the Dark is like the very best kind of epilogue to every one of the original Captive books. I don’t even have words.

Back to Lily. So we met Lily because she’s Slade’s little sister and she was kidnapped. Long and the short of it is that Slade did what it took to get his sister back. This book shows us her side of the time she was held captive and her journey back into normal life … and beyond.

Zain. FML.

“I may be your Master in this new life of yours, but I’ll become your
everything before it’s over with.”

I knew from the teasers that he was going to be intense, but I didn’t expect the level of devotion he held for Lily. What he did, what he went through, all in order to protect what was his? Lord have mercy. Talk about every book whore’s wet dream of a book boyfriend.

“You have no idea what I feel when I see you give yourself to me like this.
Why would I want to risk losing your submission, slave?”

It didn’t matter how tender his words or how harsh his touch was, it was unmistakable how much he loved his slave. His Lily. I had several moments while reading that I wanted to scream at Slade that Zain was PERFECT and to cut the guy some slack.

“I treasure what we share and there’s nothing that could get me to ruin that.”

Let’s talk some smut now… some dark, twisty, light you on fire from the inside smut. I’m fairly certain that Zain’s tastes for the dark run darkest of all the captive men… I could be wrong, but there were some moments when I was questioning what was wrong with me that I thought it was so freaking hot. I’m not going to give spoilers, but be forewarned if you don’t like your smut with a huge helping of dark, you might want to walk away.

I reached up, gripping the length of chain that would come to hold
me captive to his darkness.

Alaska Angelini has one of the most original voices as an author of dark erotica, the way she crafts each scene makes you feel like you’ve been thrust into the middle of the fray. Every emotion felt by the characters is your emotion to feel; their pain is your pain, their joy is your joy. Lily Captive to the Dark, Special Edition 1 wraps itself around your throat and painfully squeezes until you don’t think you can take one more moment before you’ll expire and just when your lungs fill back up with sweet oxygen, the floor falls out from under you and you’re thrust headlong into the darkness. Five stars doesn’t even touch how good this book is — Lily and Zain deserve so much more.

A certified Mommy’s a Book Whore must read now: FIVE plus star storyline with FIVE drenched panties … the only way they won’t be drenched is if they catch fire.

Review by the Head Whore… please note that while this book was read prior to release every sentiment in this review is 100% honest.

Warning: be prepared to put aside all your daily activities ignoring friends, family and all necessary functions such as eating, cooking, and whatever else would disrupt you to sit and read this whole thing at once.

Where to start with this book I guess first would be 5 stars is not enough for what I just read I need to add 5 more to that and you can understand how great this was. You First meet Lily in Slade: Captive to the Dark where her brother Slade is on a mission to find her and get her back after she was kidnapped and trafficked. After reading Slades story and briefly meeting Lily I couldn't wait to learn more about her and her story. And holy hell I was not disappointed.
To say this story took me on an emotional roller-coaster is an understatement there were moments when the grin on my face couldn't be removed to tearing up then having to put my kindle down to say daaammmmnn.
Lily story takes you from the present three years after the events in Slade to flashbacks of her time when she kidnapped, raped then lastly given as a gift to Zain. The start has Lily doubting her feelings about what happened in her time as a captive. You discover how they were brought together and then torn apart with him vowing to get her back at any costs and why Zain quickly moved up to one of my top BBFs.
Lily and Zains story is full of heartbreak, danger, and most of all amazing chemistry to the point where I dropped my kindle along with my jaw at some of the scenes in this story (holy hotness batman).
Now you don’t really have to have read the other Captive to the Dark series books to follow along with this story but I highly recommend you do not only do you have what I called guest appearances from the other CttD favorites Slade, Gaige, and Blake but you get a little glimpse into what happened to them after their stories ended like a giant epilogue and I love a good epilogue.
Now the warning this story takes to to dark places some of the scenes between Lily and Zain are on fire and the content matter may not be for everyone but its completely worth the ride even if this isn't your normal genre. Alaskas writing is amazing you can both picture and feel what her characters are going through their pain and struggles easily become yours she captures their emotions so well I found myself both crying and smiling with them sharing their joys and sorrows. I was happy to see that Lily as bent and cracked as she was she was not completely broken and took what had happened to her and became a stronger person because of it. To me that's important there is nothing I hate more than a whinny weak female and Lily was defiantly not that.
I can’t wait to see the new stuff Alaksa Angelini is working on right now but if what she has out now is any indication of whats to come I’m a a fan-girl for life.

I just finished Lily and man oh man, what a awesome read! You just have no idea, NONE! This is apart of the Captive to the Dark series so to really get a feel for the characters you should read this in order with Slade, Blake and Gaige. Lily is Slade's sister that he rescued in his story, now we get to find out what had really happened to her. Lily was kidnapped, raped and given as a gift to Zain. You think Zain is an evil man just like his father but what you find out is that he is just a victim as her. They love each other but when Slade saved Lily they are ripped apart and both vow to get back to each other. Three years later and Lily has just all but given up, she starts to believe that maybe what they had wasnt real, that Master and Slave was wrong. She is trying to move on while having all of these feelings but Zain will not let her go! She is his. But for this to happen he has to take care of his family, meaning death and revenge. Will Zain be able to extract revenge for them to have a future? Will Lily let the past go but keep herself true to Zain? The past will come to the present and trust me, you will want to read and see what happens.

I just loved this. I had no idea what to expect and that made it all the more alluring. This was something that I couldn't let go and it's a bittersweet ending for me. What I love the most is that this story comes full circle and we get to see Slade, Gaige and Blake. Love that!!! Zain will need them all to defend Lily. It's a beautiful story that's intriguing and you just have no idea what you are missing with Alaska. She puts me into the story. I feel what they feel. I care what happens to them. I want to defend them. Most of all I want to believe that no matter what happens that there would be a happy ending. What a wild, wild ride!

Zain is not what I expected but loved him no matter what. He is dark, mysterious, and dangerous. Most important is his loyalty to Lily. The things that they went through. It's no wonder he comes for her. I know it has been 3 years for Lily but it was like it was yesterday to her. I totally get that. They were so immersed within in each other that there is just no way that the could really be themselves with out each other. I just love Lily. I was utterly heartbroken when I read her part. To go through so much pain and to be honest she was barely surviving. No one knew but Zain. It's always your soulmate that knows. Their chemistry is just beautiful and to me they are their own captives. They have each other's back no matter what. Their voices in my head blended so well. So in sync. Amazing!

I cannot wait to see why Alaska has in store but one thing that is for sure. She is an amazing writer and no matter what she puts out I'm so there!!!

WARNING: Do not read this book before bed unless you plan on skipping sleep all together.

I first learned of Lily from Slade: Captive to the Dark, her brother's story, but nothing prepared me for her actual tale. The depth of her character, her pain, her spirit and her fight left me in awe. The atrocities Lily faced would have destroyed another, but she fought and found her strength. She found salvation in darkness. She found Zain.

Raised in hell, trained in death, Zain's world is blood and darkness, until Lily. Lily was his gift, his light... then she was ripped away from him. Nothing will stop him from getting her back. His devotion to her is unequalled.

From the very first sentence, my attention was caught and Alaska Angelini's words held me enthralled until the very last line. Lily and Zain's story is a must read. Their tale will haunt you, and leaving you begging for more.

I was given an ARC for an honest review.

I was so excited when Alaska announced that Lily would have her own story and the book lived up to my excitement and more! We first met Lily in the first Captive to The Dark book, Slade, where she had been kidnapped and her brother was searching for her. THis book revisits some of her life as a captive and where she first met her Master. Fast forward to where she is home, working, not really living life like she should be and overly protected by her brother and guards. But Zain has another plan he's working on and has been watching Lily and wants her back. Lily is still feeling the effects from everything she was put through and constantly thinks about Zain. But as much as she loves Zain, she feels it just won't work and that her brother would never approve. Then just as she's in Zain's grasp, she's taken once again. This time Lily isn't the weak girl she once was and we see a fight in her that I was so happy to see. One special thing I loved about this book is getting to see the characters from the others again. It makes this book even better getting to see the characters that I have loved from her other books.

I can't tell you how much I love Alaska and all her work. I could just gush about it all day. Each piece is original and of course it's not for everyone but if you haven't read any of this series, go back and start it. You can read this book without reading the others but I just suggest you go grab those to get the full experience of what each book has to offer. Once again Alaska has made me a happy reader and I'm ready for more of what she has in store for us!!

Once again, Alaska Angelini impressed the hell out of me with another extraordinary storyline and engrossing, believable characters unlike any I’ve ever met!!!

If you read the rest of this series, you too have been eager to know what happened to Lily when she was kidnapped, and we finally get all the details! Most importantly, we get to meet Zain who might be the sexiest Master ever!

Unlike most trafficking stories, we get to relive Lily’s experience through flashbacks of memories with the majority of the story happening in the present. Finally reunited, Zain and Lily are still fighting, along with Slade, to keep Lily and Zain alive. Not only is this book super sexy but it is action packed, on the edge of your seat exciting and unpredictable!!! The only negative about this book are the many typos, but once again, this story was so compelling that I was able to ignore them!!!! If you enjoy Angelini and you enjoyed the other books in this series, you’re going to LOVE this one hard!!!!!

Lily's story was the best of this series. We not only meet Zain, the master she was gifted to in Afganistan, but we get Slade, Blake and Gaige all together at once.

Zain was kidnapped from his mother and stepfather when he was eight years old. His real father Amir, a human trafficker and evil man involved in drugs and guns, beat and trained him to be a killer. When Lily was kidnapped, she was given to Zain as a gift. He protected and loved her while she was there and she also fell in love with him. When Lily was returned in Slade's book, we had no idea it was against her will. In this book we learn more about she and Zain and how they wanted to stay together. Zain has spent the last three years finalizing his plan. He's gradually killing his family members to make it possible for him to get Lily back and live in peace. He's close, but something happens, and Lily is once again taken. Shot and in the hospital, he has no choice but to tell Slade the truth. With the help of Blake and Gaige, they plan to get her back.

This story had a whole lot more action than the previous ones. It's spread throughout and will keep you on a roller coaster of emotions trying to keep everyone safe. You'll fall in love with Zain. You'll immediately see the love he has for Lily and know he had nothing to do with her kidnapping. He risked his life to save her and went against his family to keep her safe. Zain was as much of a captive and she was.

I loved seeing everyone together from the previous books and watching them work together. We get glimpses of the other leading ladies, Mary more so than the others. These were some darker stories, but I enjoyed each one.

I was given an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) for an honest review.

Wow. I am flying high from the non stop emotional roller coaster that Lily took me on. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. This is book 4 in the Captive In The Dark series but can be read as a stand alone. Characters from the previous books show up in the story and do have a strong presence throughout. If you haven't read the previous books in the series you will want to after reading Lily.

The unorthodox love story of Lily and Zain is beautifully woven into the chilling, suspenseful, thrilling and painful story of Lily's kidnapping. This is also a story of human trafficking and the effects it has on the survivor. Lily is a warrior and Zain is her champion.

Lily is a page turner from beginning to end. Lily and Zain get their HEA BUT have to work for it. Boy do they have to work for it. I LOVE this story. I can't wait to read more of Alaska's work. Bravo.

Lily was good, don't get me wrong the story has a strong BDSM background and an intense storyline. But would have enjoyed it more if wasn't for all the mundane yes Master and you bad little Slave talk. Its hard for me to picture anyone speaking to a loved one, boyfriend or significant other like that twenty four, seven. I'm all for role playing but jeesh that was overkill! As for the plot, it had a lot of strength, action, suspense to what would happen next. If anything kinda felt bad for the hero Zain, everyone was out to get him in one degree to another. His family and extended, beings who they are in the trafficking trade. The federal agents, due to guilt by association and Blake. Still haven't figured out who he is, mercenary or special ops; either way he's a stone cold killer. Lets not forget Lilian's brother Slade or Lilian her self, for agreeing to go along with him. The poor man had to prove a lot, overcome so much just to be with a woman he fell in love with. Lets face it, bad shit happens. It doesn't mean the people who cares about us are necessarily the blame just because they're related to someone who causes the travesty! Poor Zain, my advice....run to the hills!

What an interesting start to a story, seriously was not expecting that!! The story then goes on a little journey for Lily and Zain on how after they have met they reconnect and how hot it can be as well. This story features characters that Alaska Angelini has written contains characters i have not read before but i would be really interested in reading to see how the characters from the other bheooks fit into Lily and Zain's story. That being said you do not need to have read the other books i feel to enjoy this story. Such chemistry between Lily and Zain, and i loved how strong and protective even from afar Zain was to Lily. The bit when he is spying though that is not the right word for it at teh beginning f the book, tells you how strongly he feels for Lily and needs to keep her safe. A very interesting read for a newly converted Alaska Angelini fan

This book gave me everything I expected and much more. This book included Slade, Gaige, Blake, and new comer Zain. My hormones were in overdrive – Hot, Hot, and more Hot!!! Zain loves Lily, Lily thinks it is unacceptable to love the man you were ‘gifted’ too. Their real love is real and everyone around them needs to come to terms with this.

Alaska is an awesome author. I recommend all her books.

Wow!! A friend loaned this to me. It was amazing. I read Slade and was excited when I say Lily was going to have her own book, it was dark but also romantic. I loved Zain and Lily together. They both had serious issues. He was a trained killer and his family were human traffic business. crazy stuff. Lily was strong and I loved that she got her happy ending. Oh and the Hot sex scenes were amazing. I want to read Blake and Gaige books now.

I wondered how Angelini was going to wrap up the series.... and I wasn't disappointed.

I was held on the edge enjoying the delicate relationship between Master and Slave and, pain and pleasure and loved every minute of it. Lillian's Master welded his fingers and other tools with such finesse that he could have earned the title maestro.

To understand how much I enjoyed this book, I feel I should explain that I have put off reading it until the last minute because I haven’t really been in the mood for a truly dark read in the past couple of weeks. Not being in the right mood made me hesitant to begin it because I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to fully appreciate the author’s work. Ms. Angelini proved my worries unnecessary. Yes, Lily is a dark read, but the author manages to infuse enough hope and love into Lily and Zain’s story that the light kept the darkness from taking over.

As this is the first book in the series that I have read, I do not know how much of Lily’s abduction and time as a slave played out in Slade (her brother’s book), but the author does an excellent job of setting the stage for Lily in the Prologue so that a new reader to the series will know what is what from the beginning. That, combined with Lily and Zain’s nightmares and flashbacks throughout the novel, allowed me to understand the horrors that Lily endured, the PTSD she now deals with as a result, and the battle she faces each and every day as she strives for normalcy. Because the book is told from the dual points of view of Lily and Zain, the reader is able to see just how effective Lily’s armor is, not only when we are privy to her thoughts, but also when we can observe her from Zain’s point of view and the differences he sees in her public persona and the woman she is when she is home alone. Being aware of the internal battle Lily wages against the intellectual belief that she should not want her Master back in her life and her actual love for him left me anxious to see how their reunion would play out and I’d say it’s safe to say that my imaginings of it were nowhere close to the actuality of it. I was shocked at the twists, turns, and obstacles that Lily and Zain encountered as they fought for a future together. Each time I thought it couldn’t get any worse, Ms. Angelini proved me wrong. And when Saul actually showed up in the book, I was seriously worried with how things would play out – the collateral damage potentials were astounding.

As noted above, I have not read the prior books in the Captive to the Dark series and read Lily as a standalone. While I do not believe that hindered my enjoyment of Lily and Zain’s story at all, I do believe that fans of the series will enjoy catching up with Slade and Mary, Blake, and Gaige. As I actually own all three of the previous books and find myself intrigued by each of these men and the women who love them, I hope to rectify this egregious lapse in my reading experience as soon as I can. Lily was an intense read for so many reasons and I encourage potential readers to take note of the author’s warning because it is not for the faint of heart. However, if you like your romance with a heaping helping of dark, murder, mayhem, and seriously hot Master/slave sex, then you may want to give it a go.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm becoming jaded and as a result it is harder to impress me when it comes to "dark romance"

These last two installments of this series have lacked the same...edge...that was found in the first two. They weren't dark to me at all. Just because you throw human trafficking into the mix does not make a book dark in my book. That seems to be the trend. Any book that contains a captive woman, human trafficking and throw into the mix a dominant male that the heroine falls in love with is somehow labeled dark. In my opinion, you must also build atmosphere that lends itself to the formula and I just am left feeling...eh...when it comes to this offering.

The story was good but, predictable. There was nothing new, nothing earth-shattering or awe-inspiring.

Don't get me wrong, this was a good book but, it left me a little flat. I'm left wondering if Alaska erred on the side of tame due to pressure. These last two books didn't feel at all like the first two.

I did not get into this one...but I've loved all her other "Captive to the Dark" Zaine and Lily did not spend a lot of time together and I did not like Slade very well. I wanted Zaine to tell Slade to F**k Off and all that is Zaine worthy game. For me it did not come together.

MEH. I THINK BY FAR THE FIRST STORY IN THIS SERIES WAS MY FAVOURITE, THE REST JUST SEEMED LIKE A REPETITION OF THE SAME EVENTS. THIS STORY BEGINS WITH LILY'S NEW LIFE POST-RESCUE AND HOW HER MASTER WANTS HER BACK.

OUR HERO was pretty much a victim as Lily. Abducted by his own father from the States to Afghanistan when he was a kid, Zain has been abiding his time to take his revenge for his mother and step-father. The list only gets longer when Lily enters his life, a slave given to him and he never expected to fall in love with her. Zain is pretty much similar to Slade, Lily's brother - ruthless, merciless and determined. They are also protectors who will do anything to keep their loved ones from harm, and sometimes they won't accept compromises. Dominant, is the word I'm looking for. For Zain, he spends the majority of the story fulfilling his promise to Lily, and that is to eliminate the threat towards them both - his father, brother and the entire slave/prostitution organization.

OUR HEROINE is suffering from PTSD, and is trying to cope with living like a 'normal' woman after being rescued. Life from her perspective is like a wild animal being thrust back into the heart of civilization and it's scary because the one man she relies on is not around. Zain - her master, as she calls him was supposed to be there for her, even though she was ripped from him during her rescue. She believes that they may not ever meet again, but he proves her wrong when he comes back into her life, saying that he will not be leaving her again. Before they can be together, there are several obstacles they need to face - their past, enemies and also her big, protective brother Slade.

OVERALL if I hadn't read this same troupe over and over, I guess it would be okay, BUT I digress because usually this kidnapping troupe is rather enjoyable, except I'm not a fan of POST-CIRCUMSTANCES, where by the story begins AFTER the prologue, if you get what I mean. I would rather read Lily's story right from the start when she first meets Zain instead of AFTER.

You can judge by the one and a half month I spent to complete this that I limped and fell and STRUGGLED to finish it. I even skipped some pages, don't judge, it was TOO freaking long to complete.

The Good:
1) I really liked the theme. A master going after slave survivor. I expected dark and I only had about... 10% of that. That's where the two stars come from.
2) I liked most of the sex scene. When they weren't brushed over.

The Bad:
1) Too LONG. The pace was off because it felt like the book went on and on without any clear direction. I often found myself falling asleep over my tablet. Did I mention that it was too long?
2) Slade. Seriously. Lily's brother, who was the protagonist in the first book, played on my nerves like no other. He kept forcing his nose where it doesn't belong and became hateful by miles. I thought this was Lily and Zain's story, not a continuation of Slade's endless ego.
3) The romance. I wasn't completely sold to it. Zain and Lily were already in love, and while there was some push and pull, we weren't shown how on earth they fell in love. We were just given a connection and told, 'Hey, they love each other, now let's watch how the big bad world pulls them apart'. One of joys of romance is watching the couple fall in love, if that's taken away, I don't know what else I'm here for.

Overall
A book to forget, honestly. The whole series wasn't that impressive but at least, they didn't get on my nerves like Slade did in this one. Oh, and they weren't too long to bore me to death.

I really enjoyed this book, and the fact that it had just a little bit of everyone throughout the series included in it.

This focuses on Lily and Zain, touches a little bit on their backstory but really focuses on the struggles that Lily deals with as a result of being captured and forced into slavery. She was given to her Master by his father, even though you learn that Zain doesn't really want to have a 'slave' in I suppose one could say in the traditional sense.

Lily and Zain fight to regain their relationship, in spite of what Lily's brother wants. Definitely a HEA, and a sappier relationship between the main characters than one would expect from this type of book.

A good read overall, excellent wrap of of the series.

Lily is Slade’s little sister who we heard about in his book; he would do anything to get her back. Lily is now back and helping run Slade’s company, but the one thing she misses is her master Zain. Your given a glimpse into how Lily and Zain met.
Lily feels that she should be wrong in needing Zain, but she loves him, and she thought he would have come to get her by now, wondering if maybe it’s time to move on.
Zain would do anything to get his slave back, she was his life, Zain sets out to get revenge and get Lily back.
Things aren’t easy for them, and they have so much to overcome including Lily’s brother Slade, but there are still ones out there that want to destroy Lily and Zain. Can they make it through.

Revenge and healing

This book returned to Lily, the woman captured in book 1, Slade. We get to see all the characters from previous books and we finally get Lily’s full story.

Lily and Zain are two incredibly broken individuals that fell in love under more than unusual circumstances. Even though Lily had been given to Zain, doesn’t mean that Zain was part of the evil trafficking empire.

This book had so many twists and turns. I am glad that everyone got what they deserved. A fitting end to an deeply disturbing dark series. This series isn’t for everyone but if you like dark, I recommend it.
