Crossing the Line Part Two

Rate this book
**Sequel to Crossing the Line Part One**
Not Addie and Finn's story.

Victoria doesn't have time for love after a bitter divorce. She's too busy. Her twin daughters are approaching puberty and her interior design business is expanding. So when Nick enters her life, she has to remember why she's too busy for a little lust. Which is difficult considering he's the contractor hired to redo her office. Besides, his tattoos and MMA past make him a poor candidate for a woman who's trying to level out her life.

Nick thinks Victoria's hot but doesn't want to get involved with a woman who has kids, much less one that's been hurt by a man. Too much baggage. He's sworn off relationships, tending to stick with one-night stands. Victoria is a client, one he doesn't want to cross the line with, but the more he's near her, the quicker his resolve weakens.

WARNING: This is the second part of a two part book. The first book must be read first for the story to make full scene.

This book picks up where the other part of the story left off. Single mom of two who also happens to be a freshly divorced business woman meets long time bad boy turned contractor. They both share fear and worry after rocky pasts, even thought there pasts where every different.

The story is very good. There are a lot of emotions that are address though out the story. Fear, worry, anger, betrayal, confusion, love, lust, compassion and hate. The main characters are fairly complex with a great back story. The other characters really make the story and would not be the same with out them. You can't help but want to read more about all of them and dig deeper into this little town/ group of people. It's not only a story about love. It's a story about love lost, love betrayed, and the love we have for our families and children.

This is the first book that I have ever read by Samantha Long. I am very glad that I stumbled across her and can't wait to read more.

The last thing that Victoria needs right now is a man, let alone a well known bad boy. She is trying to raise twin girls and start her own business. Nick has worked hard to make his business thrive, but he has a reputation. Tatted and known for his history of one night stands and being a troubled teen, he is trying hard to make a go of it. Even if he finds Victoria sexy, she has waaay too much baggage for him to carry.

I would classify this relationship in the category of the perfect storm. Victoria and Nick are being pushed together by outside forces and neither is willing to admit that this might be more than casual flirtations. The relationships in this book are great. The book did not seem forced or contrite. I liked that it felt like a relationship just about any person could find themselves in. I laughed and at least once wanted to kick one of the men in the book in the nuts. I give this 4.5 fangs only because I think that the editing of small errors could have been done a little better.

Not what I thought it would be, there were so many juicy little things left unanswered from Part One, but this was just very straight forward. Nick and Victoria's relationship progressed with some setbacks, stupid setbacks if you ask me. He panicked about fixing her pipes and got snippy with her, so he walked away. He lied by omission about Trevor, she got upset and walked away from him. Helena continued being a snobby little brat who got away with all her snarkiness because everyone allowed her too, one good slap across the mouth would have resolved that shit but hey, I'm old fashioned that way. I don't like that the issues between Roger and Victoria and the twins were never resolved. He poisoned his child against her mother and another was ever done about it, that was just ludicrous. On the other hand I'm glad Halle finally learned the truth about Trevor...I hope she's not stupid enough to take him back.
