JONAH JOHANSSEN IS LUCKY.

As fly-half for Philadelphia’s men’s rugby team, Jonah knows a thing or two about trick plays. But after a life-changing lottery win, he’s forced to keep his sudden windfall under wraps.

So what’s a 25-year-old himbo to do with his newfound fortune? Buy a farm outside the city, obviously. He just didn’t expect his new neighbor to be her—Renée Wilde, his former professor and dream woman.

Except Renée has no time for love—especially not with the irritating, young athlete who’s just moved in next door. A single mother with a dark past, she’s built a quiet, controlled life for herself and her daughters, and no one can take that away from her—not even the hot rugby player who thinks he can charm his way through life.

But Jonah isn’t playing games anymore. And the more he shows up—with his too-wide smile and unshakable determination—the harder it is for Renée to keep her walls intact.

HE MAY HAVE WON THE LOTTERY, BUT IT’LL TAKE MORE THAN LUCK TO WIN HER HEART.

A spicy age gap, romantic comedy with a guaranteed HEA, kink, and student/professor vibes. This is book 3 in the Rugby Lovers series but can be read as a standalone.

Out with her sister for her monthly grown up night out, professor and widowed single mom Renee gets the private lap dance of her life - from her rugby playing former student who’s more than a decade her junior. She returns to her tightly controlled life, but Jonah remains on her mind.

At twenty-five, Jonah struggles with ADD and while he loves playing rugby, it’s not a career for him. Neither is exotic dancing, although it’s that job which allows him to pay to play rugby with his brother and best friend. After an improbable windfall, he hangs up his g-string and moves to a one hundred acre, century-old farmstead where his Great Pyrenees pups can guard sheep and ducks, only to discover to his delight that the professor who’s been the star of his fantasies - and the recipient of one of his final dances- since flunking out of her course years before is his new neighbor. What’s more is he is enchanted with her adorable daughters, the younger of whom hadn’t uttered a word since her father’s death. Jonah’s growing brood of rescue critters are a haven for the girls, as well as their mother, who is swiftly becoming enamored with the submissive but chaotic Jonah, his golden retriever energy a foil for her rigidly regimented life.

As Jonah’s generosity and eagerness to please Renee and her daughters result in him becoming more disciplined and reliable, Renee’s objections to allowing him into her heart begin to crumble. Past demons require her to look inward and decide whether or not there’s room in her life - and her daughters’ lives - for him on a permanent basis.

This was a steamy, emotional journey for the MCs, and the girls were adorable and age-appropriate, precocious without being obnoxious. Jonah was so gone for Renee from the outset, and Renee’s about face regarding her feelings for Jonah wasn’t rushed. Their relationship dynamic was also a refreshing take on power exchanges. The epilogue(s) hint at switching roles there as well.

I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I’m sharing my honest review.

At times, I felt Jonah was a little too hard on himself, and occasionally it seemed like he was either playing dumb or being dumbed down by other characters. That said, I really loved his “love style.” As someone who also loves aggressively and wholeheartedly, I found that part of him very relatable. I especially appreciated how respectful and sweet he was about Renee’s boundaries and rules, that was one of my favorite aspects of their relationship.
The kink wasn’t personally for me. Overall, I did feel the storyline was paced a bit differently from other Sloan Spencer books, and at times that made it harder for me to fully commit to the story. Still, there were many moments I enjoyed, particularly the emotional connection and the care Jonah showed toward Renee.

Thank you so much to Sloan Spencer for the advance reader copy of this book.

This is the third book in the Rugby Lovers Series, and followed golden retriever Jonah as he falls for his former professor, and new neighbour, Renee. I’m sorry but I really didn’t enjoy this at all, I probably should have DNF as it became a bit of a hate read - the star I’ve given is for all the cute animals and children!

The first half of the book was ok, but their relationship just kept getting cringier. It felt incredibly one sided, and I understand why Renee needed to be in charge give her history but Jonah never felt like more than a man child desperate to do anything she wanted. The sex scenes gave me a massive ick (it’s a personal bugbear when sub/dom relationships are badly done) and it’s just casually thrown in that Renee murdered her previous husband and we’re supposed to be totally ok with that and it’s never brought up again.

i really wanted to like this book. I have heard great things about the author and the premise of the book hits so many checkmarks for me: himbo MMCs, age gap, rugby rom-com, and slow burn/banter. i did read the previous books in this series, and I was so excited to jump into book 3!

unfortunately, this one was a struggle for me to get through: the pacing felt rushed, a lot of the dialogue fell flat, and the progression of the story was not cohesive. it was difficult to get through the book, and i wasn’t terribly interested or invested in the story between the FMC and MMC.

i will say i did like renee and jonah as individual characters, i like reading reverse age gaps + rugby rom-coms, and there were a few moments that definitely tugged at my heartstrings. overall the story and the writing style just weren’t for me.

thank you to Happily Booked PR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

tropes:
* himbo x black cat
* single mom
* reverse age gap (she’s older)
* former student + professor
* slow burn/banter
* rugby rom-com

what i liked:
* jonah, in general + especially in terms of character development!
* the way the impact of renee’s past effects the way she approaches her relationships was very relatable!
* a handful of interactions between jonah and renee really tugged at my heartstrings!
* rugby rom-coms and reverse age gap; two tropes i enjoy!
* renee’s children — i absolutely adored her girls!

what i didn’t like:
* flat dialogue, rushed pacing + incohesive story progression; it made it hard to connect to the story and establish an emotional investment to renee + jonah’s journey!
* a lot of telling vs. showing, and i just prefer the opposite
* a mostly inconsequential detail but PA is a state where lottery winners can’t remain anonymous, and this wasn’t depicted in the story

It is 3am.

I have just finished this book.

And I am mad at my Kindle percentage for daring to reach 100%.

At one point I caught myself staring at it and thinking, can you not? Slow down. Buffer. Lag. Something.

Because the deeper I got into this book, the more I wanted it to stretch. Slow down. Add fifty unnecessary farm chapters. Let Jonah Johanssen keep looking at Renée Wilde like she invented gravity… and then taught him about it while wearing tortoise shell framed glasses.

I’ve read everything Sloan Spencer has written, and every single book has left me absolutely feral for more. She is a one-click author without hesitation.

And Jonah? He is my patron saint of Devoted Simps.

Yes, he’s a rugby-playing, lottery-winning, former exotic dancer with chaotic golden retriever energy and a farm full of rescue animals. But the real flex? He shows up.

He just… shows up.

For Renée.
For her daughters.
For the life she fought to rebuild after grief.

And he does it without ego. Without entitlement. Without trying to overpower her.

And watching a man be openly, eagerly, unapologetically in love? Elite behavior.

Renée is controlled strength. Brilliant. Guarded. Protective for very good reasons. Watching Jonah respect every boundary and steadily earn his place in her world was almost hotter than half the spice scenes.

Almost. But not quite… because the spice was spicing!!!

Reverse age gap.
Former student x professor tension.
FDom x MSub dynamic.
Submissive puppy himbo energy.
Domme Mommy Professor authority.

This wasn’t just a sports romance. It was about rebuilding after grief. About choosing love even when it feels reckless. About taking every chance you get — and becoming the kind of partner someone can depend on.

Add in the daughters, the farm, the rescue animals, and the found family healing arc, and this romance feels expansive and warm while still delivering serious heat.

I finished this book genuinely sad it was over.

And the fact that I am writing this at 3am instead of sleeping tells you everything you need to know.

Thank you to Happily Booked PR and Sloan Spencer for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Psssssst, Sloan.

Respectfully.

When do we get Joaquin’s book?

Because I will clear my schedule, hydrate, and emotionally prepare in advance.

This book made my heart so happy. It had me feeling all the feels and swooning, kicking my feet, blushing, giggling, fanning my face, cheering, laughing, ready to fight, guffawing, shedding tears, and radiating joy. I got to the end and wanted to start back at page one right away. So good!

Renée is a single mom and biology professor.

Jonah is a dancer and rugby player who recently won the lotto.

They met when he was her student. They met again when she got a private dance that ended up being *more*. Then they become neighbours. And her girls instantly adore him which makes her plan to ignore him much more complicated. It is a delight.

Renée is everything. She is a survivor & fighter. She likes control & to dominate. She is a fierce protector of her babies & loves them with everything she has. And she can rock some leather & lace like you wouldn't believe. But she does not trust men and she has every reason not to. So, it makes no sense to her when the child next door captures her attention... and then her heart. I loved watching her learn to trust him.

Jonah is possibly the most loveable character ever written. He is so sweet and earnest and good. I love how big he loves. And he has so much more depth than anyone really realizes. I adored how people allowed him the space to grow. It really touched my heart to see him try and be supported. And him growing up and learning how to work with his brain so he can be there for his girls? Oh. My. Heart.

I love these two with my whole soul. Their love is sweet, intense, hot as heck, & so yummy. I loved how she taught him and he supported her.

This was my first Sloan Spencer book and I am so happy I get to read the rest of her brilliance now but am also sad I went so long without her stories in my life. Her characters are rich & interesting. The dialogue is clever & witty. The story is deep & heartfelt.

I was so lucky & I received an ARC of this story and am grateful beyond grateful. This had zero influence on my review.

Jonah is a rugby player and male dancer who’s always felt like he falls short—especially living with ADHD and struggling to keep up with expectations.

One night at the club, a private dance for his former tutor , Professor Renee Wilde , changes everything. After a sudden windfall gives Jonah a fresh start, he buys a house—only to discover she and her two children are now his next-door neighbours.

She’s guarded after past heartbreak. Jonah is determined to prove he’s worth the risk, no matter how hard she tries to keep him at arm’s length.

This book was a slow burn - taking its time until about 65%, and then the pace ramped up fast. Once it hit that point, I couldn’t put it down. Holy handcuffs, Batman !!

I really related to Jonah as a character. As someone with ADHD, his struggles with focus and feeling like the “dumb one” hit close to home. He was written with a lot of heart, and I loved how Renée balanced him out and wasn’t afraid to take charge.

There were a few words I had to Google along the way, but overall it was an enjoyable and satisfying read

The character art on the cover didn’t quite align with how I pictured the characters in my head, though that’s very much a personal preference.

This book was such a fun read and honestly had me smiling the whole time. I went into it expecting a cute romance but it ended up being even better than I thought. The story follows Jonah Johansson a 25 year old rugby player for Philadelphia’s men’s team who suddenly wins the lottery. Instead of going wild with the money he decides to buy a farm outside the city and keep his big win a secret. What he definitely didn’t expect was that his new neighbor would be Renée Wilde his former professor and longtime dream woman.Renée is a single mom who has built a quiet, controlled life for herself and her daughters after a difficult past. Love is the last thing she’s looking for especially not with the charming younger rugby player who just moved in next door. But Jonah isn’t the kind of guy who gives up easily. The more he shows up with his big smile and genuine heart the harder it becomes for Renée to keep her walls up.This book leans into the age gap the neighbor dynamic and the whole “sunshine guy determined to win over the guarded woman” vibe and it does it so well. It’s funny, spicy, and just genuinely enjoyable to read. And I have to say I absolutely loved seeing a plus sized main character. We love that representation and it made the story feel even more real and refreshing. Romance should look like everyone and this book really delivered that.Overall I had such a great time reading this one. It’s sweet, steamy, and the kind of romance that’s perfect when you want something that makes you laugh while also rooting hard for the characters. Definitely a fun pick if you love romantic comedies with a little spice.

Sloan Spencer's latest installment in her rugby lovers series follows Jonah - a chaotic ray of sunshine - as he works to earn the trust and love of his neighbour - and ex-professor - Renée.
I loved Jonah's growth in this book. He's always been known as a bit of a joker, and nobody has really taken him seriously. Instead of being stripped of these qualities, he builds on them and adds in some responsibility and self-respect. He works hard to become the man he needs to be, not just romantically but also for his team and his family.
Similarly, I loved Renée. She's such a strong character who's been through the worst, but has come out fighting for herself and her daughters. I love a single Mum, and Renee was a great one. I thought the slow steps she takes in opening up and letting Jonah in were perfect.
The kink was hot, and the dynamic was steeped in respect and love. I need more domme x service sub STAT.
I loved seeing the rest of the family, and its made me all the more excited for Dane and Ivy

Thank you Sloan Spencer for the ARC

I swear to God, Jonah was so cute and adorable! He is surely too pure for this world, and I kind of have an issue with him being labeled a himbo! He’s not not smart, he’s just… aloof. Also, he has ADHD, and I fear some of the achievements he never got were probably due to late diagnosis. But still, reading Jonah was a riot! He’s a true gentleman, he always sees the good in everyone, he tries to make everyone happy, he cares for everyone. He’s truly too pure for this world, and the way he was treated by his friends and family during most of the book pissed me off! They treat him almost like he’s a kid because he doesn’t act like society expects you to, but he was never rotten and when he realised what was at stake, he pushed himself to become a better version of himself. Not a different person, because he never needed to change! He just needed to be more focused.

Renée took me more time to understand her. In the end, I did end up accepting the way she viewed life, but I had a huge hard time understanding how such a bright, amazing, strong woman ended up being manipulated. But then again, the Renée we meet is not the same as when she was young. Clearly, the Renée we meet has been through a lot in her life, and she ended up winning because not only does she have two amazing kids, who have the sweetest moments, but she also managed to save her family. The interactions the kids have with Jonah slowly tear up the walls Renée put there to avoid falling in love, but with Jonah that’s just not possible. His heart is too big, the kids recognise good when they see it, and Renée cannot lie to herself that she doesn’t deserve happiness.

“Every Chance You Get” is a journey about two very different people understanding that most of their lives, they were missing a part of themselves in each other. Renée needs someone who is kind to her and her kids and worships her, while Jonah needs someone who treats him with respect, even though he might not always appear to be the brightest in the room, Renée will never see that because Jonah will always make her smile just by being there for them.

Im in love. This age gap romance between a rugby playing himbo and a single mother professor with loads of trauma haa my heart in goo. Not gonna lie jonah is my favorite type of mc. We are talking that sunshine adhd trusting and loving but so often underestimated. My hearts ached for him because absolutely everyone underestimated him, when all he needed is a focus, a goal. This man isn't typical and that makes his pure heart even better. On the other spectrum we have Renée who used to be his professor ( serious professor-good boy play 🥵) that keeps everyone at bay after her late husbands abuse. She lives for her tight knit familly and doesn't trust easily. Such a beautiful story you NEED to read.

“«You shouldn’t wait for me.»
«As much as I love it when you tell me what to do professor, I’m not accepting that.»”

E poi, she’s a dom. Like… A DOM. RAGA. Women with power? Yep. Fa decisamente per me. E come già vi ho detto, Jonah è proprio un good boy da manuale ✨

Sloan has to stop writing bangers! I can never get enough of her stories and this one is no exception.

I fell in love with Jonah and Renee almost instantly. While Jonah starts out as a frat boy himbo, he develops into the perfect man for Renee. Renee has her own journey as she learns to trust and rely on a partner again. Renee’s daughters are adorable and the last scene in the book made me tear up.

Well done, Sloan, on another great cozy-kinky romance!

This was no exception! I loved the characters, the plot, the story and everything in between! I love seeing the lives of these siblings and how different everyone is.

From beginning to end this book gets the best reviews.

Sloan Spencer took so many different types of characters and created such a beautiful story where there is love, healing and trying new things.

The way Spencer brings up how trauma affects people differently and how animals can be so healing really did something for my heart

Reneé is that bitch - if ykyk 🤐

Sloan Spencer is one of my favorite romance authors because she refuses to conform to the usual romance tropes; we're not seeing any alpha billionaire CEOs in her books. Her male characters are not afraid to be soft, and her female characters are not afraid to take charge (if that is their inclination).

There are some aspects of this book that I absolutely LOVE. Jonah was a fantastic and lovable character, and despite being happily child-free I am an absolute sucker for a romance that involves becoming a step-parent (or the parent that stepped up). Also that twist about Greg? Jaw absolutely on the floor. The chemistry between Renée and Jonah was undeniable, and I especially loved the scene where he took her dress shopping. The dialogue, as always, felt real and fun.

What keeps me from rating this higher is that there were some non-sexual aspects of Renée and Jonah's relationship that I did not entirely gel with.

Jonah has ADHD and was shown to struggle with this several times; the chapter where he wants to host dinner at his home and realizes that he hasn't bought furniture for his home yet, and the shame that feels over that felt so real to me. He thinks of himself as stupid and his family doesn't see him as particularly intelligent or reliable; this is an unfortunate reality for a lot of people with ADHD, and I'm not knocking that the author portrayed him this way.

What I'm not connecting with is that the solution to this seems to be Jonah finding motivation to prove that he's a responsible adult and therefore "worthy" of being with Renée. In reality, it just does not work this way. ADHD symptoms do not go away and become less problematic if you're motivated enough. Renée never steps in to help with the things that he struggles with (and those struggles do not make him less of an adult) despite everything that Jonah does for her; she never tells him that she loves him just the way he is. For Jonah, his problems with ADHD were largely handled through just taking his medication more regularly and deciding that he wanted to be different.

It felt very much like Renée was allowed to have flaws in their relationship, but that Jonah was not. In the epilogue there's a brief passage about Jonah being able to ask Renée for help with things, but this is told to the reader and never shown.

I understand that all romance has an element of escapism and unreality; women have so many expectations placed on them in the real world, and romantic fiction exists as a way to turn all of that off, just for a little while.

Despite this, I can't help but feel like there was so much opportunity for developing their relationship in a healthier and more emotionally balanced way as a result of Renée learning to trust/relinquish control, and that this opportunity was never fully taken in regards to Jonah's ADHD. There is never a moment that Jonah gets to make a mistake, and is told that he does not need to be perfect to be loved. Instead, he becomes perfect.

Jonah is a 25 year old member of Philadelphia men's rugby team, free from responsibilities and able to get whatever he wants. When a winning lottery ticket falls into his lap, Jonah's life changes dramatically as he learns to live with his new windfall. Renee is a mother of two who has no time for romance, especially from an annoyingly charming young athlete that has moved next door to her and her daughters. But Jonah realizes that he must step up and depend on more than charm to win over the mother with a dark past.

When you are 25 and you have millions of dollars, what do you do? Jonah buys a big house with land and a farm that he fills with animals. Jonah is just a guy that you want in your life. A dancer and rugby player, he's full of sunshine, bright with golden retriever energy and just so good. I love how big his heart is and possesses more depth than anyone thought possible. What I enjoyed so much about this lovable MMC is the space he was allowed to grow by his family while remaining true to himself. It made me smile to watch him grow; seeing him try and be supportive as Jonah learned to work with his brain and his heart to be there for the women who turned his world into a more brighter place.

Renee is such a complex character and I was here for all of it. A mother, survivor, and fighter, Renee is a fierce protector of her daughters to provide for them. She doesn't lose sight of her needs as Renee loves control and to dominate who can rock leather and lace. Her distrust of men is justified, running deep that she's fortified her heart behind stone walls. However, when the long blonde haired neighbor captures her attention, keeping those barriers up proved harder than possible...especially when he starts to capture her heart.

This was my first book from Sloan Spencer, who has been on my reading radar for the last few months and I'm kicking myself that I waited this long, but better late than never! I absolutely loved this novel! I loved these two with all of my heart as they grew as individuals and together. Their love is intense, beautiful, and hot as hell. I love how she taught him to believe in himself and he supported her to open her walls for him. Full of quirky humor, heart, romance, and spice that kept me coming back for more when I wanted to make the book last. I can't wait to read more of Sloan Spencer's novels!

Thank you to Happily Booked and Sloan Spencer for the honor to receive an eARC copy of this book to read and review!

Wow. I thought this seemed like a book I would be interested in so I decided to pick it up. I am so glad that I did. I have been yearning for some good plus size FMC romance, and I adore a people pleasing golden retriever MMC. Add to that rugby and an author that has a love for the game or researched it well, and I was absolutely hooked. This is one of those books that caused me to mess up dinner once or twice because I refused to put down my kindle, even while cooking. It made me smile and laugh and hurt just the littlest bit. I’ve never read this author before, but I really need to go and read the rest of this series because I fell in love with this whole family. This book has amazing LGBTQIA+ representation as well as disability representation. On top of all of that, it had some of the best examples of kink relationships. I really enjoyed getting to know each of these characters and all of the side characters. I loved seeing the growth in both of the main characters and even though they were at different points in their lives, they both had a journey to get to the end of this story.

I mean who hasn’t dreamed of giving that hot teacher you had a crush on a lap dance. Jonah is that fun loving pretty boy that smiles too much and is a poster guy for ADHD. He likes to have fun and his all he really thinks about is rugby and his “day” job, working at a strip club/ hair place. He ends up winning the lottery because he is the luckiest man on the planet. Renee is a single mother of two amazing daughters that just happen to have been Jonah’s professor. She is still trying to find herself after the death of her husband. She has certain tastes that only add to how much I got sucked into this book because…wow! She’s a plus sized redhead with amazing body confidence and honestly, I am in love.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book, but I am so glad that I did because I absolutely loved every minute of it. It is a fairly slow burn (other than one scene at the beginning). It is much later in the book when we really get to the spice. But holy moly, when it hits the spice, it really hits the spice. I think there was more than one time that I had to reread the scene because my brain exploded (definitely a good thing). I really need to go back and read the other books in the series because I know they have to be just as good.

I was able to read this book ahead of its release thanks to author Sloan Spencer.

Spice rating: 4

I recommend this book to someone looking for kink in a funny and sweet romance between a himbo and a black cat. Warning you’ll have to earn the spicy with a slow burn, but it’s worth it!

This one had me laughing, going aw and kicking my feet with how delicious the kink was in this story.
Jonah and Reneé are living rent free in my brain. From their banter and super cute moments to the spicy scenes that had me kicking my feet. There is also
Plus- size rep that is done so well.

We get an appetizer of spice and then get thrown into a slow burn. It was worth it though.I love when BDSM is represented in a healthy way in romance books. Safe words, boundaries and health checks all mentioned in this book. Throw in the fact that Renne is the Dom! Gurl, I was eating it up with a serving spoon. FYI, Renne eats it up too.

I loved both characters as individuals and as a couple. They both grow in different areas of their lives. Reneé learns to open up her heart again and Jonah learns how to “adult” and be someone people can count on. Jonah is a walking adhd green flag for me. Reneé is a strong woman that understands her boundaries and won’t let anyone walk over them.
Side characters are also great. The kids are written well and move the story along. They also make for such heartwarming moments. I already know I want Reneé’s sister Amber to get her own book. She gives me Alexis adventures from Schitts Creek vibes. Very funny and written like a true supportive sister. Jonah’s family and friends are all over this book which I love.

I don’t know what it is about Sloan Spencer’s writing but it always makes me cry in the best possible way. She is able to make me feel what her characters experience. If they are scared, I am scared. If they are emotionally unloading, I am too! Let’s be real, we all need a good cry. Moments written with so much love.

The epilogues are worth the read. Probably one of my favorites. Again leaving me teary eyed.

Also, there is a storyline that had me shocked but also cheering. Sloan Spencer, if you read this, I agree with your ending author notes.

This book was a fabulous mix of laughter, hit you in the heart emotions and sexiness.

How can you not love a guy who hits the lottery and buys a farm just so his dogs have more room to frolic around?! Who just so happens to move in next to his former professor, who is also his total dream woman!? Exclamation points were required to show how I felt reading this book.

Jonah is a 25 year old rugby player who has both incredible good luck and good looks. Renee is the single mom who has a need for control due to a really crappy late husband. It makes sense then that Renee is leery of the almost too cheery, happy go lucky guy next door. She thought running into him at the strip club he worked at would be the last time they saw each other. She has no time for time for love in the quiet, controlled life she has built for herself and her daughters. Jonah has a charming smile to go with his pure heart but doesn’t fully understand the depth that goes into dating a single mom.

This is where one of my favorite parts of the book comes in: the heartwarming character development. It showcases how the best relationships grow out of time, work, dedication and a desire to give their partner what they may not know they need. Speaking of which, the kink exploration in this book was top tier. Renee is curvy, confident and knows how to rock a spicy outfit. Did I mention she is a Domme who introduces Jonah to the world of kinky exploration?! I love a book that explores a side of kink that isn’t discussed as much in today’s modern romance landscape.

I really loved this book! The characters were well thought out and I enjoyed seeing them learn and grow. The spice was perfect to warm up some cold winter days too! If you are looking for a romcom with emotional depth and extra spice, this is the book for you!!

I was very lucky and received an ARC of this book. This had no influence on my rating and this is my honest review.

Renee Wilder is my queen now, and I could read about her and Jonah forever.

I loved this book almost as much as luck loves Jonah, from page one in this book I had a great time, Jonah is a true bimbo loverboy and he deserves the world. and the Wilder girls, they deserve nothing less than the world at their feet and Jonah knows it.

Seeing the Wilder through Jonah's eyes was so heartwarming. And what I would give to listen to Delta's rendition of blackbird with Jonah on the guitar, Renee on the mandolin and sweet baby Lo on the back vocals.

The book delivered in my every expectation and beyond!

Romcom ✅
Spicy✅
Romantic✅
HEA✅
The cutest family and pets✅

I can't recommend this book enough, go grab it RN!.

A single mother with a dark past, she’s built a quiet, controlled life for herself and her daughters, and no one can take that away from her—not even the hot rugby player who thinks he can charm his way through life..

4.5

This book is a sizzling, heartfelt knockout in the Rugby Lovers series that had me smiling, swooning, and cheering the whole way through. ECYG delivers the perfect sports romance high with relatable characters, top tier banter, a DEEPLY satisfying emotional depth, and chemistry that completely consumed me.

Jonah and Renée are just *chef's kiss, and the perfectly written reverse-age-gap couple. Jonah starts as the ultimate sunshine himbo with charm spilling through every pore, but Sloan gives him the right amount of room to grow into the exact partner Renée needs. His personal growth is gradual, and incredibly satisfying... he becomes warm, patient, emotionally present, and deeply respectful to all of Renée's wishes. Add in the way he adores Lo and Delta? Total melt material.

Renée’s journey hit me harder than I was expecting it to. Her backstory is heavy, her boundaries are powerful (and in place for very good reasons), and watching Jonah respect them without pushing or questioning was so attractive. The trust between them feels real, earned, and deeply romantic.

Add in a spicy reverse age gap, former student x professor tension, FDom x MSub dynamics, slow burn, kink, rom-com energy, and a guaranteed HEA, plus the SWEETEST animal-loving moments, and a little bit of found family... you’ve got a book here that hits every mark.

This is book 3 in the Rugby Lovers series but reads perfectly as an interconnected standalone. Steamy, funny, emotionally rich, and packed with endless animal-loving vibes leaves this one as a must read for anyone who loves emotional depth and slow burn with their steam.

Renee Wilde is a single woman with a dark past so the guy next door is a hard pass. He’s long the shape of her ass and he is keen if ya know what I mean. He’s a lottery winner but under the radar this far ,not wanting to draw attention to his win so what does he do ? Buy a big farm outside the city walls and move in…He’s also a hot rugby player in Philly and hot as sin she’s already grated with him…yes he plans to wear down this filly . Well she is to him ,he’s twenty five and she’s thirty five but he did give her the time of her life that one time she was out with her sister and then she wasn’t complaining about the attention from this mister, what’s more he’s her former student she his professor. Doesn’t it get better? It so does every page I was engaged. There’s so much depth to the players and lots of layers in which to delve. He was a male private dancer not a chancer to make ends meet. Night after night on repeat until his windfall win which makes him retreat from the dance ,Renee happened to be one of his last participants in the show and then he moves into the farm and what do you know . It’s quite nice to see a man step up never mind a pup . Speaking of which he’s got quite a few and they’re cute . Welcome by Renee’s youngest daughter who is a self selected mute after the trauma of losing their father .Meanwhile Renee is trying to cope from her own trauma . The one delivered by her husband … So far from being a rosy life before death she’s not exactly bereft but her child is and this she must deal with the strife of this . Not exactly cause for wanting to start a relationship of any kind anytime soon . Even though he is rather handsome and women swoon at his feet . None can compete though when he falls for Renee hard . Does he get a red card or a yellow as slowly she does mellow towards the fellow and slowly lets him in. The most beautiful storyline and it’s compelling cute from the start ,bless his heart he’s a sweetheart who’s misunderstood. Great storytelling by Sloan Spencer

Thank you to BookBuzz PR for this ARC.

I have absolutely adored the entire Rugby Lover series by Sloane Spencer, but this one might be my absolute favourite.

Jonah Johanssen—what a precious, sunshine, golden-retriever of a man. At 25, he’s a little lost. He plays rugby with his family, and in the evenings he works as a stripper, but he doesn’t yet have any real career ambitions or direction.

After winning the lottery, Jonah buys himself a large house in the country (mainly for his two dogs, obviously). That’s when he discovers his new neighbor is his former college professor—the very same professor he gave a private show to the night he won, and the one he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about since.

Renee is a 38-year-old single mother of two girls, trying to rebuild her life after the death of her husband, who had emotionally and physically abused her for years. As she comes out from under his manipulation and control, she reconnects with her estranged sister—and with her own sexuality, power, and sense of self.

With everything she has going on, Renee has no interest in anything more with Jonah after their explosive hookup.

That doesn’t stop Jonah from trying. He quickly realizes that if he wants a real future with Renee, he needs to grow up and truly show up—not just for her, but for her two daughters as well.

I really loved this story. Sloane Spencer wrote a complex female character with a darker past while still exploring a fun, hot, and sexually dynamic relationship. I adored the reverse age gap and Renee as the domme—it felt completely organic to her character. I also loved that Jonah’s biggest desire was simply to please her and be there for her girls.

Jonah shows so much growth throughout this story, and it was incredibly refreshing to read about an emotionally intelligent man who genuinely puts in the work.

There were so many wholesome moments, balanced perfectly with deliciously steamy scenes.

And finally—I will always support a woman’s rights and wrongs.

Every Chance You Get introduces Jonah and Renée, two characters who stayed with me long after I finished the book.

Jonah is a 25-year-old rugby player who works as a stripper at night and embodies pure golden-retriever energy. He’s musically talented, deeply kind, and a little oblivious at times, but his heart is enormous. Renée is a 38-year-old widowed biology professor and mother of two, confident yet guarded, carrying emotional scars from her past.

I appreciated how the author explained the realities of the stripper world and how naturally Jonah and Renée’s connection developed. Jonah’s attentiveness, remembering small details, respecting Renée’s boundaries, and making a genuine effort with her daughters, made him a standout romantic lead. His strong family ties and the warmth of the family scenes added depth to the story.

While this is largely a fluffy, heartfelt romance, it does touch on heavier topics, including domestic violence (not involving the MMC), which may be triggering for some readers. I also wasn’t personally a fan of the repeated emphasis on the student–professor dynamic, though I know others will enjoy that element.

Renée’s emotional journey felt realistic, particularly the way her past marriage shaped her fears and walls. Watching her slowly open up, and the way the story ultimately resolved, made for a satisfying and emotionally rewarding ending.

Overall, this was a warm, character-driven romance with a strong sense of family and a memorable golden-retriever hero.

I have received this book as an ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

So, I´m going to be honest. It took me a while to get into it, for personal reasons. Those reasons being:
-I´m not a rugby girl, and somehow, whenever rugby is mentioned, I tuned out. Which, admittedly, made this book a harder read.
-age gap. I am generally not a big fan -whether it´s the woman or the man older, doesn´t matter-, so it always takes me a bit to get into it, but when the older person knew the younger when they were a student? That feels icky to me. This has absolutely nothing to do with the actual book or the incredible way Sloan writes! But I still struggled to get into it, because of this one thing.

That being said, the characters, the banter, the kink representation -which is done so beautifully, as usual- and the love were the absolute best. Every single time I pick up a book from Sloan I know I will love it, because there is just something special about the way she portrays deep, meaningful connection and acceptance, that cannot be replicated.

I especially loved how Johan was being constantly openly and unabashedly affectionate and in love. It truly healed something in me. Oh, and the way Renee -for a good reason- set her boundaries (in a sort of "take it or leave it" mentality), and how Jonah respected every single one of them while working day and night to earn his place in her life was incredible to read. Truly.

All in all, if you can get past the age gap and former student-professor setup, this book will absolutely blow your mind, just like all her other books do!

This is the third book in the Rugby Lovers series, and it just keeps getting better. Jonah has been a very small part in the first two books, so other than him being super fun and lucky I didn't know what to think about him. I loved his character growth throughout the book. Sometimes characters with ADHD are shown as gaining super human powers of focus before the end of the book and that is just not realistic. I think Sloan does a great job of showing growth without losing his essential Jonah-ness. It's almost like a switch gets flipped in his brain when he runs into Renee and realizes what he thought was a passing fancy before could really be something special. And then once he makes the decision, he is so focused on his goal of a life with Renee and her girls. Gotta love a man who knows what he wants.
Renee on the other hand has been through some shit in her life. I loved watching her slowly open up to Jonah and the possibility of getting everything she ever wanted. They are so beautiful in their love for each other, it just made me so happy to watch them fall in love.
The kink and spice in general is very hot, but somehow still extremely tender and loving at the same time. It's everything I look for in a spicy book.

This book will appeal to anyone interested in kink, anyone who has ever been hurt in a relationship before. The butterflies it gives you are just the best. An excellent addition to the series.

Every Chance You Get was a mixed experience for me, but one that still had some really enjoyable elements. The emotional pull of the story and the connection between the main characters kept me invested, even when certain aspects didn’t fully land for me.

Renee was easy to connect with — thoughtful, emotionally grounded, and well written. I appreciated her perspective and how she navigated her feelings throughout the story. She felt realistic and relatable, which made it easy to root for her happiness.

Jonah, on the other hand, was more hit-or-miss for me. While I liked his intentions and his role in the romance, there were moments where he was portrayed as not very intelligent, and that felt unnecessary. It pulled me out of the story at times, especially since it didn’t add much to the plot or his character growth. I would have enjoyed him more if that aspect had been handled with a bit more nuance.

That said, the chemistry between Renee and Jonah was definitely a highlight. Their interactions had spark, tension, and genuine emotional connection, which carried the story for me. When the focus was on their dynamic and shared moments, the book really shined.

I ultimately gave this 3 stars because while I enjoyed the romance and chemistry, the characterization choices — particularly with Jonah — kept it from being a stronger read for me. Still, it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a romance with good emotional moments and strong chemistry.
