Summary:
Written in alphabet format, various elements of Russian culture, geography, climate, landmarks, and history are introduced. Also included: Basic facts on Russia, some Russian phrases with pronunciation guide, glossary, and suggested books for further research (connected to Fact Hound).

Comments:
The selection of words allow exploration of parts of Russian culture and history as well as its broad geography. The content is strong, though the pale watercolor illustrations depict the words without adding cultural depth. I liked the inclusion of geographic/climate elements like the deepest lake in the world (Lake Baikal), taiga, white nights, and time zones; giving a sense of "place" gives context for understanding the culture and customs of the peoples that live there.
