Angel Perez had a second chance at a new beginning. After the death of her Aunt Rosie, Angel followed the instructions of her aunt and packed up only a few of her belongings and headed to Florida. After moving into her Aunt Rosie’s small cottage on Siesta Key Beach, she was quickly adjusting to her new life.
After finding a job at an insurance company, Angel became friends with the two owners, Sara Roberts and Brea Kinsley. Sara and Brea made it their mission to fix Angel up on a blind date with their very handsome and single friend Mason Myles.
Afraid that her past would catch up with her, Angel lived a very private life. When she met the tall, dark, and handsome Dr. Mason Myles, she knew she wouldn’t be able to resist him. He swept her off her feet with his sexy, dimpled smile and charm.
Living on the run from a very abusive boyfriend, Jim Davis, Angel lived in fear that Jim would somehow find her. After she revealed her abusive past and fears to Mason, Mason vowed to protect her.
When Angel had heard that Jim had been fired from his job as an L.A. Police Detective, she feared he would come and find her. Angel started noticing noises outside her bedroom window and lights in her house would mysteriously turn on and off. She started getting hang-up calls at work and would often see a dark SUV parked along her cul-de-sac road and around her job. Angel realized her worst fears had come true when she heard that Jim hadn’t been seen in two months. She knew he had found her and it was only a matter of time before he made his presence known.
While driving to the store to get items to cook Mason a home-cooked meal, Angel was the victim of a hit-and-run accident on Midnight Pass Road and sustained life-threatening injuries. Mason’s father, Bruce, and Angel’s Uncle Raùl hired their own detectives to try to find Jim before he had a chance to strike again.
Unable to Save Angel, from yet, another attack from Jim, Mason walks in Angel during a violent attack from Jim. Mason shoots and kills Jim and a point blank range in order to save Angel
Trying to build their life together with the aftermath of the attack, they are faced with a live changing event. Can Mason move past this and have his happy ending with Angel or will it be over before it has a chance to begin?
Brenda Kennedy is an award winner, an Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and a Publishers Weekly bestselling author. She is a true believer of romance. Her stories are based on the relationships that define our lives - compassionate, emotionally gripping, and uplifting novels with true to life characters, that stay with her readers long after the last page is turned.
Her varied, not always pleasant background has given her the personal experience to take her readers on an emotional, sometimes heart wrenching, journey through her stories. Brenda has been a struggling single mom, a survivor of domestic abuse, waitress, corrections officer, hostage negotiator and a corrections nurse. She is also a wife, mom, and grandmother. Even though her life was not always rainbows and butterflies, she is a survivor and believes her struggles have made her the person she is today.
Brenda is the author of the award winning book, Forever Country (The Rose Farm Trilogy Book 1). She has been dubbed "The Queen of Cliffhangers" by her adoring readers because books one and two always have a cliffhanger ending. In Brenda's own words, "I write series that end in cliffhangers, because I love them. I always give away the first book in each series so you have nothing to lose by reading it."
She was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio and moved to SW Florida in 2006 with her husband Rex. They have a combined family, and she often jokes about not remembering what child belongs to who.
Well, I'm not really sure where to start....... The first book in this series was very good, in fact I think I rated it with 5 stars. So much took place in the first book. Then the second book was good too but not as great as the first. But overall I felt it was a 4 star read. As for this book, the third and final book, it was just okay for me. It did not hold my interest like the first two. I think the first two books held all the action and this one just kinda lost it's spark. It just seemed to laid back. Some of my issue with this book, with this whole series for that matter, is Mason and Angel dated pretty much from the beginning regardless of how many times she tried to push him away, and not once did they have sex. I'm not saying that sex has to be part of a book to make it enjoyable but I don't buy into the whole waiting until you're married part. That may have even been romantic is we didn't have to read about her being raped by a creep of an ex-boyfriend. Mason should have been the hero and showed up before it happened to save her. There should have been a little sexy with the lovers themselves just because of enduring that. The perfect ending for me would have been if they had a child together and had been the perfect family because of everything that happened in the end of the last book and the beginning of this one but instead that was all focused on Brea and Vincent instead of the main characters. Anyway, I think the first two books were great but I just didn't care for this one much.
A New Beginning series is an outstanding read one that I totally enjoyed from the first page to the very last. Brenda Kennedy puts her whole heart and soul into her writing giving you a wonderful outstanding read which will break your heart and leave you near to tears. She keeps you smiling, laughing as she tells a wonderful sad story of abuse, love, lost and starting over. She gives you wonderful characters that you can really relate to which will stay with you long after you finish the read.
As you start reading the very first book in this series you just know this two people belong together and they are going to have a hard road. They have many paths they must follow before they ever find a HEA at times you wonder if they ever will. Jim is dead and long gone in this story but he lives on in many ways. You would think this couple would have a wonderful life and put the past behind them. This isn’t the case the night of the attack will change their lives in more way.
Being in an abusive relation is always hard, it is even harder when the person will not let you walk away. Ms. Kennedy tells a heartbreaking story which turns in to the most heartwarming one. She takes you along on one heck of a ride as you watch Angel grow from a scared women on the run to the most loving person who stands up for what she believes in. This is one strong woman who gives so much of herself. You heart will break as you cheer her on to the life she deserves.
Mason his is a man any women would be proud to call her own from his endearing names to his over protect love you will fall so in love with him. You will laugh with him as your heartbreaks for him. Brenda gives you a wonderful humors read with wonderful secondary characters. You will laugh so hard when their friend goes in to labor along with all the author has in store for you in this wonderful read. As they work through their heartbreak and learn to begin again you will smile, laugh and almost cry with them. Brenda tells a story you do not want to miss.
Angel and Mason in there final part of the journey have come along way in a short amount time. Between there Exs Julia and Jim trying to ruin everything the the have tried to build together. In this last chapter between all the friends and family there has been blessings and tragedies. We see loving group of support for these two as the struggle to find themselves together.
I loved how Brenda made Miles really work for Angel love. But both of them earned love and support. I loved thru each of the other two books she left us on our seat for the next book. In the end Angel and Miles found there HEA that was perfect for them.
I was going to rate it a 3 star because this story could been rapped in two books. Also she butchered the Spanish, the translation was horrible, some of the timing was off and some of the events were not truely believable.
But above all else their story was about friends, about family and waiting for when the timing is right. Also it would been great to see an epilogue to finish out the story. But I did rate it a 4 because we didn't just get miles story we got their friends story, miles loving family and Angel support system.
'I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review'
Angel is trying to live her life now that she is safe. But she finds out that her ex left something behind and she needs to learn how to deal with this new information even as she finds out more about his past. Be there for her friends and really get to know the love of her life!
My Opinion:
I LOVED it! I cannot say enough good things about this series! Destined to love definitely had it's ups and downs but it was a great ending to this amazing series. I will be reading more from this author for sure as she is now on my top author list! I definitely recommend reading this book but you have to start with book 1!
Angel has been through a real hard time with her Ex Not letting her go and he is a real nasty piece of work. Mason is a strong supportive man who adores Angel. He is everything she needs with the hell she is going through. This book is the last installment in this series . Angel and Mason are a beautiful pairing and this book finished leaving me content with there HEA. Brenda seems to be getting better and better with every books she writes she is on my must read list
Things are going great. Angel and Mason are in love and have made it through so much. Just when I think everything will be great they receive some pretty messed up news. They have to work to find their way through this new problem and they finally started to move on to their lives together. This is a wonderful conclusion an amazing series that I enjoyed greatly. Reading one book in the series just wasn't enough I love the series and I hope you all enjoy it as much as me.
I gave this 4 out of 5 stars only because some of the storyline was predictable. That being said...what a beautiful love story. Even the " predictable" parts are written well and offer alternatives to what you may think the outcome would be. I truly enjoyed my time spent with this loving cast of characters....but I want to know how Angels attempt at matchmaking works out.
Mason and Angel's story is well written. The characters are lovable. Angel has been through it but she does what her aunt ask her and moved to Florida. Follow Mason and Angel's love story in Destined To Love, for those of you who love happily ever afters, you get it with this one! Job well done by Brenda Kennedy. I would recommend this one to all lovers of romance.
So I have enjoyed Mason and Angels journey and all there friends stories as well love that it ended with there HEA but I wanted just a little more into there new life and then came Shattered Dreams hoping for a glimpse into there life as well. Brenda Kennedy is a new author but is definately a favorite of mine
I loved this book, i downloaded it and yesterday and i finished it this morning. 19.10.14. I love the story between Mason and Angel. I'm Happy that they both got a happy ever after. My own problem is i want more.
Well Done Brenda Kennedy, i have loved all 3 books.
<3 Yet again, after reading this last book, I was left empty. I wanted more and more to happen. The story to keep evolving. And then, we ran into Shattered Dreams :)
Wow. Great trilogy... I cried, laughed, got mad, and cried more. This book was amazing how just meeting for a blind date can end up so beautiful. I have not gone to bed yet since I started the first book. Here I'm at the end wishing for more. Great story line. You so need to read. You'll be responding like I was.
This is the last in the trilogy you built the story up fantastically but I think the night of the wedding should have been included also the honeymoon. I feel a bit cheated.
I’ve enjoyed reading the series. I love the characters. I read one book after another I had to get to the end and I’m so glad that I did. I let time escape between reading each one so that I could remember everything.
It was a beautiful story. Thank you so much for writing it.
Another wonderful read and a sweet end to this series. I love the tenderness and caring Angel and Mason show to one and another........and the passion that simmers in the background. There is not anything evil lurking in darkness in this final book just the big question of Angel's pregnancy. Mason has already proven time and time again how much he just loves Angel and really nothing else matters. Such a swoon worthy man....so sexy, smart, charming, fun, caring, protective and all around good guy if Angel doesn't snatch him up some other lucky reader is bound to. Mason and Angel and their friends and family are awaiting the birth of a baby, planning one wedding, helping said couple move into their new home, having a happy Thanksgiving, then a Merry Christmas, and then planning another wedding. Angel has slowly come to accept the joy and love Mason gives her and now has learned she is deserving of it and a happy ever after with him. It was so wonderful to be along on Angel and Mason's journey to love and watch them both reach out to each other to find happiness. This book is about finding happiness, celebrating, and enjoying your loved ones (be them friends or family) and along the way greeting a new baby and finding 3 new friends (whose story continues in the next series) so you will not lose touch with the people in this series. An all around wonderful amazing series that was such a joy to read!
I am glad that I picked this author. I read "Shattered Dreams" first and I continued to read the series. Then I read the "Angel" series and read most of the night. I could not put these books down. As soon as I finished one book I ordered another one. Bravo Brenda Kennedy looking forward to reading more of your books. These books showed so much love between the couples where there was so much tragedy. I loved them all.
Finally the conclusion to this story. I still wish the author would have written this as one novel; I did not like the endings of the first two novels just stopping. A reader invests time in characters and expects a conclusion. I read at the end that these characters show up in some other books of Kennedy's as well. Not sure if I want the torture again?!
After reading almost 700 pages, in this series, I am coming away like I wasted half of my time. I really liked the main characters and the general story (with some exception) but this is so beyond wordy. Then after all is said and done, there isn't even a consummation of the love story. so much detail attention was spent on things that really didn't matter.
I enjoyed reading it and like many others I believe it was missing the sparks, but overall it was ok, although I wished it had an epilogue or at least was more focused on them instead of Brea and Vincent.
What this world needs more of Love like Angel and Mason have for one another. I hated for the end to come was my best set of trilogy books I have ever read 9 books in less than a month. Thank you Brenda Kennedy for your wonderful Love stories
This is a beautiful love story that after reading the 1st book I immediately had to get the 2nd only to discover that after finishing the 2nd I needed the 3rd. This is one of the very few book series that I HAD to have the next book to continue the story. Mason is my new book boyfriend!!!!
