The “Swoon-worthy” Donovan Alexander returns in Turn to Me, the newest work of fiction in the Thin Blue Thread Series inspired by true events from author Kaitlyn Stone. This steamy contemporary new adult romance series features alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They're flawed, funny, passionate, and relatable.
When fate intervenes, resurfacing both their painful pasts, 19-year-old college student Kenna Sloane and 22-year-old rookie cop Donovan Alexander must deal with the consequences and the unresolved feelings. Kenna turns to Donovan for support and guidance, seeking the release only Donovan can provide. But the more he becomes preoccupied with the Santa Monica drug taskforce, his heart blackens with vengeance for his brother and he risks losing Kenna’s love forever.
Don’t miss this intriguing story of forgiveness and letting go.
They say for authors to write what they know. Kaitlyn's novels are inspired by events in her own life. She relives her experiences through the lives of the characters she creates. Not only does she relate to their thoughts and feelings, she has lived many of them.
Since childhood, Kaitlyn has gravitated toward fairy tales and happily-ever-after's, forever chasing the first love dragon. She is a self-professed adventure junkie, constantly talking her husband and family into some new life adventure, where they’ve learned to just buckle up for the exciting ride.
When they do stay home, it’s in sunny Southern California located along the Pacific Ocean.
I was very kindly provided with an ARC of Turn To Me to read and review.
This is book two of The Thin Blue Line series and is the continuation of Kenna and Donovan's love and life story from Walk With Me, as they continue to learn how to overcome their pasts while finding a place in their hearts for love. Kenna and Donovan are just are enthralling as they both were in the first book but this one gives their characters so much more depth and for the reader, so much more understanding about the people that they are. It is very human to have regrets and a past that is happier left where it is but what happens if we never face it and find forgiveness and peace. Will Kenna and Donovan ever be able to let go of theirs or will it cost them each other?
The idea makes me think of the constant changes in a person’s life. Nothing stays the same, no matter how much we want it to. I’m content to keep everything exactly the same, but we must move forward or perish.
Men, they’re one disappointment after another, always taking, using, abusing. Maybe my mom is right. She doesn’t allow herself to be vulnerable, that’s probably where I originally learned it. It’s so much easier to just close yourself off to all these painful feelings, numbing your heart.
Every scene is profound and realistic, although it's inspired by true events it just manages to have an air of realism than most books of that genre fail to accomplish. Where other books can use sequences to garner shock and captivation, here they serve wholly just as a natural progression to the story and nothing is forced or over the top. The book has a perfect flow from the first to the last page and I never felt lost, bored or the desire to skim anything, in fact I wholeheartedly absorbed every single word that Kaitlyn Stone has written.
We all have flaws, imperfections and weaknesses. We've all been hurt by people in our past and some hurts can run deep enough to fully shape the person you become as you grow. It's easy to tar everyone with the same brush, see everyone as a fresh source of pain and a betrayal waiting to happen, subsequently driving us to avoid forming relationships and attachments leading us to shutting ourselves down to emotions. Or to be so consumed by what's happened to us that we forget to keep an eye on those closest and the effect that our blind sightedness can have on those around us. What takes real strength and determination is to find a way to retrain yourself, to accept that not everyone can be seen through the same hurt eyes. Some people really will love you for the person you are, not everyone is using you as a stepping stone towards their own future and that we can't change what has happened, spending a lifetime punishing yourself will cost you any chance of finding the happiness you deserve. And that is the message that Kaitlyn effortlessly conveys through every sentence of this book, Kenna and Donovan are still the same people that they were in Walk With Me, no one has waved a magic wand and fixed their lives up just to throw the usual proverbial spanners into the works to make up a book that really wasn't needed. This is the raw, personal, emotional story of two people still growing into their own skins, dealing with an abundance of pain, losses and regrets while learning just what being in true love means and just how easily it can be lost and over looked.
From the very realistic emotions, actions and words to the laughter, tears, heartache and happiness this book has everything you could possibly want and more and I can't recommend reading both books in The Thin Blue Thread series enough. They're absolutely captivating and have both have been an absolute joy to read. I'm not only excited for book three, Stand With Me, but also for any future works by Kaitlyn Stone. With talent such as hers I have no doubt that anything she writes will be just as enchanting and enjoyable. From the beautiful prologue to the exciting epilogue I was in love, thank you so much to Kaitlyn for an amazing book, my copy and the lovely mention in her dedications page. If you're a fan of well written realistic love story's and an author that has the ability to make each book even better than the one before, one click now!
Everything goes blue. Not white, no stars, just pale blue. The blue bleeds into purple and then bright red. My eyes fly open, facing death, staring at my executioner. It would be so easy to let it come. I’ve already acknowledged numbing my heart is the answer to living a life guaranteed not to hurt again. My death is inevitable, an acceptance of my fate, a welcomed reprieve from the pain and loss of love. Donovan, I love you. I will always love you.
In this book my emotions are on overdrive with all the love, drama and a little mystery. I didn't know if I should laugh, cry or scream my head off!! Your heart will go through a motions of heartaches, swoon worthy moments and thump in anticipation. Kaitlyn knows how to get you worked up in her books. Still feel my heart is beating a mile a minute lol.
Kenna and Donovan's love is so consuming but at times, it's not easy. They had some difficult moments and you couldn't help but hold your breath in some of those moments. Would they keep their love survive or will they lose each other? This characters seem so real: 1) they are flawed 2) they are vulnerable and 3) they are completely relatable.
The story picks up right away, questions are answered, but their twists and turns. You meet new characters and the ending adds some new questions as to where the story might to lead.
Can't wait too see where Kaitlyn will lead us in her next book. I got a funny feeling that there will be a lot of Why?!?! or oh no moments. Waiting for Book 3 patiently *wink, wink*
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I first fell in love with the series after reading Walk With Me by Kaitlyn Stone. Now after reading the second book, Turn to Me, I am COMPLETELY in love with this series!
Donovan (*sigh*) is such a great guy. From his chivalry to his humor, I just could not get enough of him. In this book I admit, his judgment becomes clouded by revenge, and at times I wanted to tell him to get his stuff together. However, he is still such a great character.
Kenna overcame a lot in her short life. Finally free from her stepfather, she is living her life. She really loves Donovan. I understand her concerns with his career, and I could also feel for her at times when she was put on the backburner for Donovan’s job. Sometimes though I felt she was being a little immature, but after constantly playing second string to his job I guess she was justified.
Kenna and Donovan are so sweet and so good for each other. This book shows though just how rocky sometimes relationships can be. When these two were going through turmoil, I really felt for them.
As I was reading the last few chapters, I was happy with the direction the book was headed, but I was still a little sad. Sad that Kenna and Donovan’s story would be ending in a few short pages. I still had so many questions left unanswered. What about Brandon when he gets back to the states? What about the inappropriate lawyer? What will Kenna do with her newfound money? BUT THEN, I read the epilogue and I literally squealed with excitement. Miss Kaitlyn Stone left just enough hints that there could be another addition added to this series! :)I really hope my inferences are right because I am not ready to close the door on Kenna and Donovan’s story yet.
*Also, thank you so much Kaitlyn for the shout out in your dedications page. That was so sweet of you and it MADE my day! :)*
I remember asking Kaitlyn a couple times when is it coming out!! She said soon! God, I'm glad I waited!! Absolutely AWESOME BOOK!! When you read this, you'll go through some emotional rollercoasters, you'll feel like crying, mad, and maybe scream at your kindle,(that was me any way), and you will feel love. Such a wonderful book, with some strong emotions, that you'll feel as you read!! The book has showed me the growth in Kenna, she is so much stronger, has confidence in herself that she didn't have before. This book was beautifully written, that the characters seem to be so real, I adore Kaitlyn's writing so much, your talented style can draw you in after the first sentence is read, and just keep you there till the end. Kenna and Donavon's relationship is tested in this book. Donavon is promoted to a task force in the police dept. an it's taking a lot of his time. Kenna is taking her college classes and plus job as legal asst., but she is feeling lonely when there isn't enough time for them to be together. Kenna's Mom comes back into her life, will it be good or bad, you'll have to read to find that out. Kenna comes out more of that shell she has been in for so long now, she starts making friends and facing her fears as she goes. I love this backbone that she has now, from last book and this one, Kenna has grown-up a lot. This book gives us a great look at seeing a abused girl too scared to let others in, to become a wonderful adult that has friends and a great boyfriend that loves her. If there is a book to not miss, then this is it!! I was given this Arc for a honest review. I can't wait for another book by Kaitlyn, soo get the next one started!! lol I recommend the book to all that love a great romance book, with some drama and some steamy lovin'!! Thank you Kaitlyn for another great book!!
You know those books that just bring you to tears? That make you feel so many emotions, it almost unbelievable? Those books that touch you deep down in your heart and actually teach you something? Turn to Me is that book. There’s only one other author that can bring so much emotion out of me while reading a book, and that’s Jen Armentrout. However, Kaitlyn Stone just utterly blew me away with this book. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous about reading this because Walk With Me ended so perfectly and I didn’t want this book to ruin my amazing memories of that book. But silly me for thinking that Kaitlyn Stone could do this, because this book was simply amazing. There are no words to describe how beautiful and heartfelt this book is. I was crying and laughing then crying again. This book is literally one big emotional roller coaster, and I never wanted it to end. Turn to Me drew me right back into Kenna and Donovan’s world, and their story comes (quite literally) full circle. We are back with Donovan and Kenna. The love this couple shares is so deep, so strong, so beautiful. They are two souls destined for each other.
I won a copy of this book at the author's giveaway.
Beautiful continuation to the first book, especially loved that they overcame so many trials but pulled through strong and loved life their way.
I want a third book! !!!
I just loved this book as well as the first. What a great writer. I can connect in so many ways with Kenna trying to figure out her future. I’ve been there before. And Donovan, yes, he can be “swoon worthy” but he isn’t your typical cardboard book boyfriend, he has so many more layers to him than that.
Both Kenna and Donovan have been through so much in their past that have affected them now, and the writer doesn’t sugar coat it or make it all perfect. They are not perfect people, but jagged puzzle pieces who have found each other and seem to fit. That’s what I love about this story. Yes, there is the fairytale happy for now ending, but Donovan isn’t the flat prince charming and Kenna the typical Sleeping Beauty waiting for her knight in shinning armor. They are real characters, dealing with real issues, fighting for each other, with each other.
Wow...wow...WOW! I had no worries about this being another five star book, because let's face it. Ms. Stone is a very talented and skilled writer. She pulls you in so deep that you are under water and waiting for the riptide to pass. Her prose are flawless, and her descriptions original and all consuming. She puts it all on the table for you. Every i is dotted and every t is crossed. These books are a treasure filled with unforgettable characters that are multi-dimensional.
Turn to Me is the sequel to the unforgettable novel, Walk with Me. I absolutely loved Walk with Me and when I saw that the Kindle Fairy delivered Turn to Me I was ecstatic beyond belief! From the first line - it was like going back home. It picks right up and we feel the love, the attraction, and the need of Donovan and Kenna! They have always needed each other and still do. I felt all of their ups and downs - I cried and I laughed. I loved living their lives with them. I relish the thought of them; they make me happy!
Thank you for the opportunity to read book 2. Eagerly awaiting Book 3.
I received a complimentary e-copy of Turn to Me in exchange for an honest review.
Turn to Me is the 2nd book in Kaitlyn Stone's The Thin Blue Thread series and picks up right where Walk with Me takes off. I would definitely recommend reading Walk with Me first, just so that you're already familiar with Kenna and Donovan and their relationship.
It's been quite a few months since I'd read Walk with Me, so I was happy to have the chance to reconnect with Kenna and Donovan.
I really enjoyed this book. One of favorite parts of Turn To Me is that we got to see that Kenna and Donovan had some outside forces to fight against for their relationship. Kenna finally had to face a new reality with her mom and step-dad, while juggling school and her job and she's still only 19 years old. I absolutely love that Turn to Me didn't end on a cliffhanger, but that the epilogue leaves the possibility of another book in the sage of Kenna and Donovan.
They say good things come to those who wait. I can honestly say that I waited oh so impatiently for Turn to Me. I thought about it so many times, knowing that the day would come that I could reunite with Donovan and Kenna. I even reread Walk with Me and fell in love with it all over again. I didn't think the sequel could possibly be as phenomenal as the first, but WOW, was I wrong. This book met every expectation I had hoped for and more. Kaitlyn Stone proved that INCREDIBLE things come to those who wait.
We are back with Donovan and Kenna. The love this couple shares is so deep, so strong, so beautiful. They are two complicated/tragic souls destined for each other. What is to come? Please Ms. Stone, don’t make us wait so long next time.
Kenna and Donovan's story continues in Turn to Me. Their relationship faces a few challenges as Donovan gets more deeply involved with his job and Kenna starts looking beyond his influence to her own life after facing a return from her past. It's all about those stresses on a relationship.
This book is paced more slowly as it sets up some situations and lets the reader get to know these characters in more depth. I'm intrigued by Donovan and who he is exactly -- is he tough cop and protective lover or does he have a darker side? My questions about him have me coming back to the story.
Turn to Me resolves a few of the story lines from book one and sets up a few new ones for the third book in the series. I like the little bit of doubt this story leaves me with and it's what has me coming back to read the next installment in the series.
I reviewed book one of this series on my blog. There I wrote, "Read this book and just watch two people realize about themselves and fall in love." Well read this one to see that falling in love is easy compared to keeping love.
In this book, Donovan gets a little too involved in his new position on the force, leaving Kenna alone again. Add that to a past girlfriend coming around, and Kenna's insecurities kick in again. I feel for Kenna, my heart broke for her. I wanted to kick Donovan's ass and then remove his head for him.
It takes almost losing her for him to realize what he was doing. Another emotional look at love.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book more then the first one. It had a lot more drama and emotion in the book.
There was a lot going on in the book, real issues that people go through in life. It was more of a relatable book then most that I have read and I that is because it is based on true events.
I really enjoyed Kenna, she was a very strong independent women, doesn't need a man to survive but wants one to love and share her life with. I can relate to that. Donovan wasn't as much my favourite in this book, until the end when he finally figured out that love is more important then work.
Rating: 3.5 stars This book started with a BANG! I was so captivated by that first sequence, but then it took a while to get into the meat of the story. Kenna is so likable, how do you not root for someone who has been through, what she had been through. She has so many new situations she needs to learn to navigate and she faces them. So, I appreciate this slightly damage, but keeping her head up female character. There are nice diversions along the way too, with Kenna's world expanding with a new job and school. Overall, if you are patient, the story will come.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
It's rare for an author to change from one book to the next but I must say she didn't change but grew.
This book was great!
Kenna and Donovan are still together and going strong. Or so they thought. Kenna comes into her own in this book and needs to find her way. She is so much stronger in this book.
Donovan is no longer so mushy. He has joined the special task force and has changed. No longer the attentive boyfriend Can they survive ??? It's a most read. Things don't happen as you expect...
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the first book and this one was even better, I finished reading in one day. Questions were answered and other questions came up making me excited to read what's next! still loving the characters and their complicated personalities and some self inflicted drama. The epilogue is promising and easily introduced some sketchy new characters to add to the drama. Can't wait! Thanks for allowing me to read this.
This is book 2 in The Thin Blue Line series and is a continuation of Kenna and Donovan's story. This book had my emotions all over the place!! I didn't know if I wanted to laugh, cry, yell, scream or knock the crap out of someone!! After Walk with Me I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I LOVE Donovan and Kenna!! Hold on tight and be prepared for some twists and turns!! Amazing job Kaitlyn Stone!! I can't wait for more!!!
I loved book 2 almost as much as book 1. I continued to fall in love with Donovan as well. He is just so adorable. My issues with the book were the same as book 1. I was confused with flashbacks and didn't realize what was present or past. I had to reread the beginning several times to understand. I am excited for book 3! Great job Kaitlyn!
amazing, you have done it again. Kaitlyn Stone draws you into Kenna and Donovans love story. I wanted to laugh, cry, and be angry right along with the characters. I find myself drawn into the story and rooting for them. I cannot wait to see where the story goes.
This book is one big emotional roller coaster and a must read! Kenna and Donovan share such a deep, strong and beautiful relationship. This book touch my heart and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. I can't wait to read the next book!
Kenna and Donovan love story continues in this book, where they will be getting to choose between their love and their careers. Some twists and turns are brought to make things difficult... angst, true love, friendship, families, it will all contribute to make of this book a great read!
I love seeing Kenna and Donovan grow. I enjoy the suspense and twists of the story. Knowing it is based on true events makes it that much more intense. I was pleased to see there is a third book still to come.
* I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book continues the love story of Kenna and Donovan we first encountered in Walk with Me. Their life is still full of secrets as they try to reconcile their past with the future they are working to build together.
Their story is filled with difficult moments, some at which I found myself holding my breath as I read. They have a profound love for each other, but sometimes life gets in the way and situations get out of control.
Kenna begins to feel like a second fiddle to Donovan’s job and at times, I felt like she was being a little immature, but Donovan isn’t being very open with her and some of her actions and reactions are justified. It is apparent that Kenna and Donovan need to be together and I love when they have their sweet moments. Donovan is definitely one of the good ones.
Questions are answered, but twists and turns just bring new issues to the surface. Emotions are all over the place and the story just grips you and won’t let go. The writing continues to grab your interest and the characters make you feel along with them. New characters are introduced and they add so much to the story.
The questions brought on by the ending leave you wondering where the story will take you next.
I can’t wait to read the conclusion to this wonderful love story.
***I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*** I enjoyed Book 1 in this series and getting to know Kenna and Donovan as well as watch their relationship begin. I gave that book 4 stars and was excited to see how their story continued in book 2. Turn to Me took me a little longer to get into, it felt a little forced until about half way through which is when I really got into the story line. I think the reason I didn't connect more to this story was Donovan, in my opinion he got way to controlling in their relationship and I felt that Kenna (coming from such a sheltered childhood) would have more of a problem with it. She did stand up for herself a few times and expressed this but it is still how their relationship remained. I liked the new characters that were introduced, Kenna's friends at work and Brandon from her study group. I enjoyed when the story took a little turn in Guatemala, I actually enjoyed the story more when Brandon was part of it...I think that would have made for an interesting turn of events.
***I was given this book in return for my honest review.***
This is the second book in the series and tells the ongoing story of the romance between Kenna Sloane and Donovan Alexander. The story line is unique and definitely hits the mark as far as insecurities and questions revolving around things new adults face in life and in new relationships. I struggled once again with connecting with Kaitlyn's writing style. She tells a good story, but maybe it's just that...I felt like I was being told the story as opposed to feeling it or experiencing it with the characters. At times it felt too stiff or analytical in the descriptions and details of Kenna's thought process and feelings. That being said, Kaitlyn Stone's books continue to get great reviews, so maybe it's just me. If you enjoy a new adult romance with a bit of suspense, I encourage you to read the 'Thin Blue Thread' series for yourself.
What happened to the strong heroine from the first book?
Kenna drove me crazy in this book. She knew going into the relationship that Donovan was a cop, that his schedule would suck sometimes. She knew her mom's history with men, and how one-sided and selfish she was. Yet she overthought her relationship with Donovan, and she let her mom's words cloud her judgment.
The book was frustrating, halfway through the book I wanted to take Kenna by the shoulders and shake her, then tell her to make up her mind. Either she was in the relationship for the long haul, or get off the pot already.
The ending was okay, a little sappy, but cute. There's an epilogue at the end that you have to read carefully, or you'll miss what's mentioned. I'm guessing that this means there will be follow up books.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I am reviewing for Kylie's Fiction Addiction.
This is the second book of the series, it keep going with the love story between kenna and donovan. It took me ages to get to finish it as everything was so slow and actually seemed forced. Donovan looked like he was doing everything in his power to become a controlling bastard, but kinda of redeemed himself at the end. On the other hand Kenna should have been more strong and stand up for herself more, to try at least to balance the relationship. The ending was better than the rest of the book, and epilogue kinda of open up for a following book.
I enjoyed it. The story went a little slow however I love the whole a woman can take care of herself, but she wants someone to share her life with. I love how Kenna knows what she wants and she is not afraid to go for it. Strong independent women.
Just not as good as the first. I'm thinking series shouldn't have been developed. The storyline felt to be reaching for something to write about to create a book two, but it didn't really work for the best. The HEA should have just come in book one.
