Choices: Make Me Paranormal Book 1

Rate this book
I always wondered which paranormal being I would choose to be, but never thought I'd be forced to make the decision.

As an urban fantasy author, Jupiter Hayes knows all about the things that go bump in the night, but she never dreamed that those beings could be real.

Summoned to a secret paranormal facility within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Jupiter finds out that not only are these beings real, but she's destined to become one of them.

Soon she's cut off from the life she once knew as she spends time getting to know each society in need of new members. But, some of those societies may be a better fit than others, due to her own bloodline.

Throw in a sexy vampire and a gorgeous warlock and it's easy to see that Jupiter Hayes has some tough choices to make.

Wonderfully different!

I read it straight through. When a book comes along that is a different take in a genre I get excited! The idea is good, and written in a way that is logical. It's definitely how I would like to choose, if given the choice. I really like the lead character although I admit that some things she did, in action or speech, were so completely wrong for her, age wise, that it pissed me off. How does a writer, and then an editor, picture as appropriate a 29 year old having a tantrum by throwing herself onto the grass and flailing arms and legs until tired? Come on! Anyway, I need to find the next book...

I've always admired authors who can write in first person yet still capture the emotion of secondary characters. Plus, I just really adore all things paranormal and this book is jam-packed with it. Now, add in a love triangle and I was SO there. Jupiter Hayes has a choice to make-- which paranormal creature is she destined to be? I had a few good chuckles over this one. There's nothing better than finding a new author. Give this one a try.

This story, with its intriguing cast of characters, is definitely a new take on the paranormal world and its "beings". It's quirky, fun, entertaining, and fast-paced. The story flows smoothly, keeping the reader entertained and in the thick of things. Usually I will skim over descriptive passages in books, but not with this story. Nope. I was too afraid I'd miss something!

Great story, and I can't wait for book two.

Cute seems like the wrong word for this type of book, but it's what kept coming to mind as I read. I didn't, at first, find Jupiter to be the most likable person, but I found her predicament rather unlikable as well - I mean, who would like waking up in a strange place and being told her life will never be the same again? The book is fast-paced, provides tons of info for those who aren't exactly into the paranormal, and definitely has a cliff-hanger of an ending (hurry up with book 2, girl)!

This was terrible. The character was shallow and the other characters weren't evolved much so the book lacked any depth.
The perfectness of the world was unbelievable and the detail of shower products and other such trivialities was utterly boring.

I should have given up when the lead was admiring her "cute" behind in the beginning of the story but the good reviews kept me trudging through to the end.

“Choices” was a fun, lighthearted read with a love triangle and loads of mystery and suspense. I really enjoy the paranormal world Cora Maxine created and can’t wait to see how it progresses with the series. The book left off on one heck of a cliffhanger, so I’m really excited to see what happens in book #2!

Though this book had good elements and I liked it overall, I probably wouldn't have continued on unless found on sale or during a dry spell. However, the ending made me add the next to my watch list. Normally similar endings have frustrated me which ultimately leads to my faltering interest. But something about the unexpected and abrupt end hooked my attention and gained it an extra star.

I discovered this book by accident - a friend posted about it on FB. It was a really happy discovery as this book was a whole lot of fun. A quick easy read, that left me longing for the next book in the series.

I hate cliffhangers

The book is excellent. But I was completely taken off guard when there was a second cliffhanger. You need to read it. I would easily read the second book with just the normal cliffhanger that I knew about. The second cliffhanger just makes me want to . . .
