Settling into her new life in Oregon and expecting her first child, FBI profiler Jo McDaniels' serenity is shattered when her old boss turns up with some devastating news. The serial killer who managed to elude them in Maine has resurfaced.
Harland Briggs is every sadistic monster Jo has profiled rolled into one. Leaving his hunting grounds in Maine, he's making his way across country leaving a path of destruction in his wake.
After learning that in the past three years an alarming number of teenage girls had been abducted across the country, Jo goes against her husband's wishes and agrees to go after Briggs. Once again, her sanity, as well as her life, is in jeopardy…and the life of her unborn child.

Malice. That is the perfect word for the title of the 2nd book in this series. If you like mystery, suspense, Christian values, and romance all in one book, then this is the book for you. Anne Patrick gives us all of this and much more.
Leonor A. Woodworth, as usual, does an superb job narrating Malice. I highly recommend this book.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I love this Anne Patrick series(definitely read book 1 first)...fell in love with Jo and Austin in Ties that Bind and could not wait for this one to be released in audio. Jo and Austin, newly married and expecting their first child are faced with work challenges. Jo being an FBI profiler has been called to an unsolved case that she is very involved in. Leaving her husband and stepdaughter, she goes off to help solve the serial murders that Briggs, the suspect keeps committing. There is a lot of suspense, a little romance, a lot of family(which I love the way Jo and her stepdaughter interact) and a surprise ending!
Leonor A Woodworth again, provides an extraordinary performance. She is one narrator that I really enjoy and will get the book just because I enjoy her acting abilities.
This is the second in the series and I found it as good if not slightly better than the first. The characters Jo, Austen and Isaac continue to be believable. However, this time I struggled a bit with the development of the bad guy - I couldn't quite understand his motivation. Still a well-paced, suspenseful read. My continued issue with both this and the first book is the sloppy editing. Too many elementary mistakes still exist for this to have had a thorough editing prior to being published. For a reader like me, it defintely takes away from the overall experience.
Just like the first book, the editing was horrible, but it was slightly better than the first. I kept wanting to read details about the murders and visions, but all you get is "raped and tortured" and "going to a dark place". Very little detail about what the heroine experienced in her visions. Oh, well...it was a good read and kept me entertained for a day.
It was an amazing story but spooky. Better than anything on Criminal Minds ever!!! And much more meaningful because it had God in it. The characters depended on God to do their job and get rid of the evil on their midst.
Like everyone the Federal Agent , I need to take a break from the evil but, I will be back for more of Anne Patrick's writing. Amazing characters , stressed relationships held secure in love, for each other and for and with God. Looking forward to #3 in this series.
2nd book about this agent. chasing a serial killer during a risky pregnancy might not be wise. great plot, terrible villain...good characters. realistic.
