At only 72 pages, this was an incredibly quick read. The first of several, this serial serves to open the story of Raven and Jake, an unlikely pair from seemingly different words. In spite of a familiar storyline and a plethora of cliches, I found myself enjoying this story and wanting to see where it would lead.

Raven attends a party with her friend and some girls that they met at a club. Once they arrive, it becomes clear that she's out of her element. A young, struggling waitress, she finds herself surrounded by multi-millionaires in an opulent mansion.

When Jake Novak arrives, all eyes go to him. He's a rock star and actor of global fame. Raven tries to play it cool, but inwardly she's as smitten as the other girls at the party. Lucky for her, she catches his eye.

After chatting with him, she is ushered away to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Only later does she find out that she signed on for far more than she was aware of at the time. Silly girl didn't read what she was signing.

Raven finds herself coerced into a contract with Club Alpha. She tries to get out of it to no avail. Before long, she has been fired from her job as a waitress and kicked out of the basement she'd been renting. It is clear that the people involved with Club Alpha will go to any length to bend her to their will.

Eventually, Raven submits. She agrees to honor the contract with Club Alpha and Jake. One spanking later, this book leaves off with Raven in Jake's employ and somewhat trapped.

Sometimes, you just want something that is a lighter read and doesn't require too much thought or emotional stamina. Although there were definitely some irritating qualities present, I liked the story well enough. If you're looking for a quick read that doesn't require much of an emotional commitment, this might be a good choice for you. If you're looking for an all-consuming, mind-blowing read, keep looking.

I don't know what i was hoping for, but what i got was surely a big disappointment.

The beggining was interesting and intriguing, i was really anxious of how the story will progress. Raven and her friend follow a bunch of girls they just met, in a party..The party is held in a majestic house, filled with rich people and models, full on a weird vibe.. Unfortunately what followed wasn't as well crafted..

My first impression of Jake was good. He and Raven have some stronge chemistry together. And that was the last nice thing in the book..
After that, a gargantuan disaster took place.. How can someone be so stupid?
No seriously? STUPID! You never sign something, without first reading the damn thing!!
Even if you are ready to have a threesome with Matt Bomer and Chris Hemsworth and they ask for a non-disclosure agreement, you say no! -Ok maybe in that situation you can say yes, but only if they throw in Channing Tatum..- for anything else you have the time to read before you sign.

And that wasn't the incredulous part of the book. No that was a tiny 'misunderstanding' only.. Now Raven is an escort and a crazy guy makes her life a living hell. In only a day he has her thrown out of her job, and her appartment-which totally unbelievable- and with no money left..

Well she turns to Jake for help and they have a few good moments together, but after that he becomes a colossal ass to her!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- The writing was mediocre..
- Jake is disgusting..
- Her whole life crumbles, but she is happy because she will be Jake's play thing? I thought she was better than this..
- The situations are unreal..
- I liked that both characters had a rich backstory..
- I hope the next book will solve the issues of this one..

This review has spoilers from the rest of the club alpha book series (it's more of a rant because I'm very upset with this book)

I hate Ravens character! I have never hated a character more then I hate hers I hate everything about her
•annoying
•conceited
•selfish
•naive
the list goes on
Her character doesn't grow throughout the series liked I hoped Nope in fact I think she just gets worse all she does is whine and complain about how unfair life has been for her but I mean she has no compassion for jake? Who in my opinion has had far more worse then she has
I actually understand why her brother resents her I mean all she thinks about is herself and her problems her best friend is dying of cancer yet all she can think about is poor me jake for might i remind forced me to become his escort doesn't want a relationship with me after only knowing him 2 days the story just has no flow to it its all over the place and as for Ravens dark past I can understand how that'd be hard for someone because I too have a dark past but her to constantly project her own doubts onto jake is just getting annoying as a fellow broken soul I tend to have more empathy with other broken souls and yes because we are all human have moments were I project my doubts onto others but the way she does it ugh!! It's just naive and stupid take some responsibility for once
•made a sex tape
•signed a contract without reading it
•wants jake to trust her yet doesn't trust him
•plays victim
•blames jake/her family/ everyone for her problems
I mean come on! Take a little responsibility for your actions grow up she makes a sex tape while drunk and yes it's awful that people saw it but how about take responsibility and admit hey maybe I shouldn't make a sex tape even if it's with my boyfriend
Oh and let's not forget she signs a contract without reading it! Who's stupid enough to do that?! And then she blames jake for everything the alphas did to her? How about admit "shit maybe I shouldn't have let my lady parts do the talking and not sign things without reading them" and then she goes and yells at jake because she blames him he didn't force her to sign the damn thing and she can't blame him because let's face it she knew what she was doing when she signed it she wanted to have sex with him and then she wants jake to trust her even after only knowing her for 2 days yet when he asks the same of her she get upset and leaves? That's ridiculous! And she plays the victim card way to much it's clear that jake has problems to but you can see that he's trying but here's raven wanting him to confess everything and declare love yet she can't do the same for him? She stupid and naive I am so upset that I can't even think of better synonyms jakes trying which is more then I can say for raven she's to self centered for my taste
And as for jake though he has flaws I actually love his character

I would of loved this series it had so much potential! Everything was great about it except Ravens character and because Ravens flaws were just in your face at every moment I couldn't get into the book at all

I liked this story. I did. But I couldn't rate it too high because although I'm going to keep reading the series, I haven't connected with the characters yet. I get that Jake's a hot pop star/actor, but who is he really? And then Raven isn't exactly Miss Personality so I have no clue who she is. However, the twists and turns of the plot thus far have definitely peaked my interest. I want to know if Jake will help Raven escape the cruel and manipulative clutches of Club Alpha. And what kind of unethical 'club' is this anyway??? Does this happen in real life and I'm caught unaware? I just don't get how this organization tricked her into signing her life away, took ownership of her very soul I guess you can say, and tried to force her to comply by getting her fired and homeless??? But then again she's the dumbass who followed girls she didn't know to a mansion party, tried to fit in, then signed a contract with people she'd never met, without reading it first. When dude said to sign or leave, I would have been goodbye. But then again I'm fairly smart. So there's that. Geez Louise!!

This one should have an age rating/suggestion on it. If you're above the age of 30, you may have a hard time of it. Raven, will make you want to slap some sense into her or slap yourself for reading about her.

I have a few mixed feelings about this one and I'm not too sure yet whether I like Raven or Jake for that matter.
This story starts off with Raven at a party for rich famous people, she signs paperwork which she is led to believe is just so that a "client", which is Jake can talk with her with the knowledge that she has signed a non-disclosure form. So with out reading said form Raven goes ahead and signs it, that's where it all goes down hill for her.
When Raven realises those forms are in actuality more or less an escort agencies declaration forms so that she can work for them for one whole month and do as they say. When she questions this and says she won't do it the agency makes it so that she loses her job, loses her apartment and then cancels her credit card. Forcing Raven to give in and work for this company under the guise of being a "date" for Jake.
For a girl that is dead against this arrangement it shows her first meeting with Jake of her getting a spanking and agreeing to live in his motel suite for the next month. Signed to Jake now every day of the week. And this girl doesn't seem to bat an eye.
I thought Raven would have been a little stronger then she was and Jake although on the rare occasion has seemed nice, then opens his mouth to speak and is just downright horrible.
Still in saying all that I'm looking forward to reading the next book and seeing what happens.

I've never really been a fan of books that have some poor unsuspecting girl signing something that turns out to be far more than she thought and thereby indebted to some seedy people and having to "work off" that debt.
She attends a party and signs a non-disclosure because of the celebrity clientele, but of course the non-disclosure is actually secretly a contract of employment, so she is then somehow an employee of a glorified whorehouse and her entire life is turned upside down with job and house lost, accounts frozen, all so she then needs the club.
And, as attractive as the leading male might be, the fact that he totally doesn't care about the fact she was duped and forced into the situation is not an attractive quality.
I pretty much spent half the novella yelling "stupid girl" and the other half declaring the men in the story total a**holes.
While this book succeeded in getting an emotional response out of me, it did not appeal in the way a hot sexy romance is supposed to. It did not make me think wow this story is hot and i better find the next one asap. It was more like.. maybe i'll read the second book at some stage just to see if she can get herself out of this without "working" for the club bastards.

The first book in The Debt was just alright for me. Raven attends a party she was invited to by some girls at a club with her best friend. They end up at this very big mansion and it seems a little strange to Raven but she forgets about her worries when the most popular movie/pop star walks in and makes eye contact with her.

Raven ends up talking to Jake Novak for a quick second at the bar until he walks off. Kicking herself for being so rude she wants to leave. Her friend talks her into staying for just a little longer when she's asked by the staff to either sign a contract or leave. She decides, why not? She'll sign it have a conversation with Jake Novak and that'll be that. Unfortunately, for her its not.

I felt pretty bad for Raven by the end of this one. I would hate to have zero control over my life like she does. I mean, I'd probably be devastated but she takes it like a champ. I feel for her.

I'm not big into books with movie stars but I guess I'm intrigued enough to keep going.

Honestly, I don't know what to think of this book. I only thought to read it because I kind of hoped it has something to do with werewolves. (Sorry, kind of a were fan) After reading it though, I'm still at a loss of what this is really about. Club Alpha is very shady. It's mysteriousness is kind of fantasy-like(or is it just my wishful thinking?). Anyway, the book is very short. It ends in a cliffhanger. What I hope the author did was put the story into parts and not continue it in another book. Because it sucks balls that you have an inkling of an idea on the story itself and that it is enough to remember to read the second book when it finally comes out.

Loving this book and can't wait for the rest of this series.

Raven Hartley is a struggling waitress, who just made one innocent mistake. Who thought going to a party at a millionaire's home could cause trouble for Raven.

Jake Novak is a pop idol who always gets what he wants. He wants Raven but Raven knows better than to get involved with Jake.

After the party, Raven is given a choice, become Jake's personal escort or have her life destroyed by the Club.

What a choice???

I would recommend this book and I can't wait for the rest of the books. Still in love with Kelly Favor Books.

I didn't like it.

From the first few pages I couldn't get into this book. It was too hard to get on board with a story line like this. Raven is totally railroaded into doing something she absolutely doesn't want to do. I realize these books are fiction, but this was too far off of the charts for me to comprehend. Raven was a push over, never going to the authorities or even a lawyer about what was going on, just following the Club blindly made her look stupid. I like my heroines to be a bit more on the ballsy side.

Just finished. Loved it. Love all that I've seen of Jake Novak. Raven, OK let's just say I developed a very, very strong urge to find her and say, shut the hell up! But seeing as how I couldn't do that because of Jake and because I really wanted to see where this was going, I forged on, lol. It was worth it. Now that she is clearly has no more choices but to be working for Jake? I'm seriously wondering, what is he going to do with her now, ahaa. And now I can't wait to see what Jake has in store for, that spanking...was very well timed. Very quick read and I glad I did :-)

I got this short story(author releases book in parts)for freeon my E-reader and decided to give it a chance.
the writing is amazing. The author really knows how to draw you in and keep you interested.
It's a total Mind- F*ck...but I was glues to everywordno matter how intense the situations Raven got herself into.
I at one point had to remind myself to breathe.I found myself telling Raven in my head ....Don't sign that stupid contract until you read it ..Stupid girl!!
Awaiting more from Club Alpha.

So I read 1 to 3. It started of kind of interesting then I got over after the sample of book 4. I don't care or want to know what happen to her and jake. So this book is about a girl who went to what she thought was a party and a super star had his eyes on her. She sign a contract and that's when the whole drama started. It was good up til book 2. After that I just wanted to see what happen. Then I got disinterest and the funny this is I think this book has like 10 books. Why would I keep paying 2.99 for 72 pages???

I really did enjoy this book. Actually the complete book is The Debt book 1- 8 . I got the entire e-book series for $0.99. SO i was like "Why not?"I did not like how short they were. If i had bough this book seperatley for $0.99 i would have been pretty upset with only about 10-15 pages of actual book and it leaving on a cliff hanger like that.

But all in all a great book if you have the whole entire book series and it does continue on after book 8 but it is a separate story but still deals with Club Alpha.

I don't know what to think about this book. It was all over the place with first person and third person. One minute the main character is sticking to her guns, the next she is caving because road isn't that smooth. One scene she won't give in the next she will get on her knees and beg. Oh pulease!

Anticipation

This book has an amazing start. I also like where the book seems to be taking me. Jake is one hot alpha male with an edge to him, that makes you want to find out all his deepest secrets and then beg him to sleep with you.
I am in need of the next book.
