I read this book because it was mentioned in a previous book I read and because, although I obviously have heard about Goering, I knew almost nothing about him. I found the book to be interesting but difficult and frustrating to read. It seems to have been written soon after the war (although the copyright date is the 1980s), and assumes the reader knows details of the war years so consequently events are mentioned but not explained. The sentence structure is awkward (possibly because it has been translated from German?), the authors don’t believe in commas, which meant I had to read sentences multiple times for them to make sense and it is not in chronological order. It jumps around from different years multiple times within the chapters to the point where I couldn’t follow what happened when. However, I did learn a lot about the man, which was the point.

A good, easy read. I enjoyed this book very much. Sure, there may not be much that is a revelation; however, I recommend this work for anyone new to the topic (and for those looking for a refresher).
