Not as good as expected.

It seemed like, in this book, the story moved along at a slow pace and it couldn't hold my attention. For some reason, reading this installment felt more like a chore than an enjoyment if compared to the previous one. The drama was meh, not impressive at all.

What I didn't like the most about this book was that Kara did something stupid near the end of the story. Gosh, I hate it when the author needs something big to happen and then makes a smart character do something dumb just for the sake of the plot.

However, I really want to know what happened to Simon when he was sixteen. So, on to the next book.

Kara & Simon are still living together. They have spent some time getting to know each other and she knows that something bad has happened to him. She wants to figure out what it was and help him to get over it.
At the clinic where Kara volunteer's, 2 men hold her at gun point wanting drugs. When Kara trips the alarm, the men vow to her that they will get her.
Kara knows that she is falling for Simon. When they attend Simon's birthday party, at his brother Sam's house, she ends up overhearing & seeing a woman proposition Simon & kiss him. When she walks down to the boat dock to get away, Sam ends up propositioning her. She slaps him across the face & has James, the driver, take her home. Once there she packs a few things & leaves a note for Simon that she is leaving & will pay him back once she gets a job.
Sam runs into her at a restaurant and asks to speak to her. He apologizes to her and tells her that Simon is miserable without her. She accepts his apology and leaves the restaurant. As she is walking away, lost in thought, the 2 junkies that tried to rob the clinic grab her & lead her to a car. She is fighting against them. They are smashing her head against the roof of the car when she hears & see's Sam come for her. The last thing she hears before she blacks out is the ambulance is on its way & so is Simon & he is pissed.
On to book 3...

Book 2 of The Billionaire's Obsession, finds Simon and Kara still living together and getting to know one another. Although Kara's life is like an open book, Simon is more closed off. Kara has learned enough about him to realize that Simon has had a very bad experience in his life, but is trying to deal with it by ignoring it. She vows to help him, since he has done so much for her since they met. Bad luck is still following Kara, with two people trying to rob the children's free clinic that she volunteers at on Saturday mornings. Although Kara and her friend Maddie, who is the clinic doctor, escape unharmed, the thugs threaten Kara, since she can identify them. Simon vows that he will not let anything happen to Kara, not on his watch. But at a birthday party thrown for Simon by his brother Sam, things go downhill quickly for Kara and Simon, and once again Kara finds herself out of a home and on her own. This time she is not penniless like before because Simon has put money in her bank account, but that is not the only thing she has that she didn't have before. Now she also has a broken heart. And with so much on her mind she lets her guard down, not being street smart when two thugs are after you is not very wise.
This book was fantastic, I especially liked the gift that Kara gave Simon for his birthday, and I enjoyed watching Sam grovel, trying to get Kara to forgive him. If you have read J.S. Scott, you know what an awesome author she is, if you haven't read any of her books, may I ask, what are you waiting for?

This book definitely kept me interested. It was a great 2nd part to the series. I loved how things changed and the couple have actually gotten to know each other a bit and the book and characters become emotional and you start to feel what they are feeling. It is still just as steamy and sexy as the first book if not more so this time because you actually realize what they have been going through. Kara is determined to find out what happened to make Simon how he is..I think kara is my favorite character but...I am ready for the third book to read more and find out about the other characters I think are coming.

Another fabulous short by J.S. Scott!
This is the second in a series I've read and was better than the first, but still left me haning at the end.

Simon is exactly the man Kara wants in her life, but he's got issues and now she's feeling betrayed by him, and his brother Sam.
Kara's gone from Simon's home, but not his life. He's got security watching out for her, and it's a good thing too.

Will the bond that they've forged be enough?
Or, will Simon disappoint Kara again?

I'm really looking forward to the conclusion of Simon and Kara's story.

Bueno, mejora relativamente, pero cada vez odio más esa historia de "millonario se enamora de chica normal y tiene un pasado oscuro".
El daño que ha hecho Grey, dios santo.

5 out of 5 Stars

Down on her luck, nursing student and full-time waitress Kara Foster gets a massive blow to her already desperate financial situation that will surely find her living on the streets. Needing nothing less than a miracle to save her, Kara gets rescue from an unknown, unlikely and overwhelming source. Billionaire Simon Hudson, who has been watching her from afar, makes her an offer that is impossible to refuse, but terrifying to accept from a man that she's never met.

I bought this series as a bundle on Amazon for almost nothing and I really wasn’t disappointed at all. I recommend you buy the bundle too, because the individual novellas are quite short and almost always end in a cliffhanger. I read this in one sitting and frankly didn’t notice when I jumped onto the next book in the series (but then again I was totally hooked).

The story is not exactly mind-blowing and full of intrigues, but the plot, the characters and last but not least the more-than-hot-and-steamy sexy scenes are absolutely enough to keep the reader fully interested (if not totally hooked) from front to back cover.

I also like the fact that despite the title, this is not all glam and glitz, and the characters are all very much down to earth. You will also find J.S. Scott’s characters very endearing, even if they are made out to be jerks in the beginning. Expect to fall in love with Kara’s selflessness and with Simon’s tender alpha side (yes believe, you can be a tender alpha male!!!)

The writing is in 3rd person with alternating POVs, which enables you to get a glimpse into both worlds and minds. The writing is extremely good, and despite the fact that many books with a cover and a cheesy title like this one hint at some cheap romance novel, J.S. Scott does some really qualitative storywriting.

I totally recommend you give this book and the whole series a go.

The story keeps developing. ..and I liked this one better than the first. Simon and Kara have gone from one night to engaging in several encounters. They are getting to know each other and Simon is slowly letting down is guard, but when Kara realizes she is already too emotionally attached to Simon, she chooses self preservation and gets the hell out before her heart can be completely shattered by a man that doesn't do relationships. This one leaves off on another cliffhanger. ..on to the third book

I loved the 2nd book in this series....parts were heart-wrenching, I love when a book can suck you in like this one does. The ending just kind of leaves you hanging, thank god I have the 3rd one so I can go right into it. This is another series that could have been made into just one book...but it does make it a quicker read with it split up.

This is the second book in the Trilogy and I though it was even better than the first.

In this book Kara and Simon continue to get close until an incident at a party end up separating them....the sexual chemistry in this book is sizzling but there is enough feeling express by the author that is doesn't become too smutty.

I can't wait for the next instalment and too see what happens......

As good as the first one! I really LOVE this series! This one should be getting the hype that the horribly written 50 Shades is getting! The story is smooth and flows right along. The author did well making sure the story doesn't lapse or get pulled under repetitive sex scenes. Spend the extra money on the rest of the books. You will be glad you did!

This book continues Simon and Kara relationship. He has deep dark issues but cares a lot about her. She already cares a lot about him and she also loves him. Besides Kara knows Simon cares, his brother Sam told her also. The book kept up wondering if she makes it (she was attacked and hit). Sam is an interesting character and Maddie also. New story on the way, I would guess.

This collection was out of this world from the first page of the first book to the last page of the last book. The passion, the love, the challenges, the connections, and the drama were out of this world and kept me flipping until I finished the set in one evening.

This 2nd installment was way better than the first. The story wasn't nearly as shallow (well, ok, it was still kind of shallow but I rate these type of books on a curve, lol) and was overall much more interesting. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
