Book 2 of The Billionaire's Obsession, finds Simon and Kara still living together and getting to know one another. Although Kara's life is like an open book, Simon is more closed off. Kara has learned enough about him to realize that Simon has had a very bad experience in his life, but is trying to deal with it by ignoring it. She vows to help him, since he has done so much for her since they met. Bad luck is still following Kara, with two people trying to rob the children's free clinic that she volunteers at on Saturday mornings. Although Kara and her friend Maddie, who is the clinic doctor, escape unharmed, the thugs threaten Kara, since she can identify them. Simon vows that he will not let anything happen to Kara, not on his watch. But at a birthday party thrown for Simon by his brother Sam, things go downhill quickly for Kara and Simon, and once again Kara finds herself out of a home and on her own. This time she is not penniless like before because Simon has put money in her bank account, but that is not the only thing she has that she didn't have before. Now she also has a broken heart. And with so much on her mind she lets her guard down, not being street smart when two thugs are after you is not very wise.
This book was fantastic, I especially liked the gift that Kara gave Simon for his birthday, and I enjoyed watching Sam grovel, trying to get Kara to forgive him. If you have read J.S. Scott, you know what an awesome author she is, if you haven't read any of her books, may I ask, what are you waiting for?
