Andrea’s 5th full length album featuring the music of Chris Pureka and Nervous But Excited and other talented artists. “Andrea Gibson is a truly American poet, or rather, she represents the America I want to live in. Her work lights a candle to lead us where we need to go.” – Cristin O’ Keefe Aptowicz
Andrea Faye Gibson was an American poet and activist. Their poetry focused on gender norms, politics, social justice, LGBTQ topics, life, and mortality. Gibson was appointed as the Poet Laureate of Colorado in 2023.
I really like this title. It would work as the title of my autobiography as I was a boy who loved flowers, and forty plus years later I still have a house full of plants, but of course this title isn't really referring to that.
And it's not just the title that I like. In fact, I think this may be my favourite of Andrea Gibson's spoken word albums. It is strong like everything I've read by them. The ones I feel are strongest are: "The Madness Vase", "Letter to the Playground Bully", "Glider Plane", and "Class", but they are all good. There is a reason why Andrea Gibson is one of the poets that I keep coming back to. They have a wonderful way with words.
TBH i am backlogging and a couple of weeks ago I read a collection of Andrea Gibson's that was sitting on a bar, but I can't remember which one. I took pictures of a poem called Jellyfish though (iykyk) and it's in this one so let's say it was this. I remember thinking I preferred the ones that were personal vs the ones that were about America. but so beautiful
