Before the Wedding

Rate this book
The worst phone call of Florence Bennett's life starts with her son saying, "Mom, I have amazing news!"

After 23 years of being James's only family, Florence learns he's not only engaged to Lacey—a woman he's dated for barely a year—but they're moving to Oregon. Into an apartment Lacey's parents already bought them.

And the wedding? It's being called the "Wedding of the Decade" by Time Magazine.

Now Florence finds herself in Rockaway Beach, Oregon, surrounded by wedding planners, celebrity florists, and a frustratingly handsome photographer who seems to catch her at her worst moments. But it's meeting Lacey's parents that sets off every maternal alarm bell.

The Prescotts are polished, wealthy, and perfect...too perfect. They've orchestrated every detail of James and Lacey's new life, right down to the morning coffee service. But behind their practiced smiles and generous gestures, Florence senses something sinister brewing.

When strange incidents start piling missing invitations, mysteriously canceled vendors, and whispered conversations that stop the moment Florence enters a room... she realizes this is more than just mother-of-the-groom jitters. Something's wrong with the Prescotts, and Florence might be the only one who sees it.

Between protecting her son and proving she's not just a paranoid mother, Florence must navigate a battlefield of social climbing, family secrets, and hidden agendas. But in Rockaway Beach, where the fog rolls in thick off the Pacific and everyone has something to hide, uncovering the truth about her future in-laws might cost Florence everything—including her son.

The Prescotts wanted a perfect wedding. They're about to learn that some families don't just come together—they collide.

Before the Wedding was a sweet and engaging read that felt like the perfect mix of romance, emotion clearly layered with a little tension. It had that cozy small-town vibe where relationships feel personal and every moment carries meaning.

What I liked most was how the story focused on the feelings behind the wedding, not just the event itself. The characters felt realistic, with doubts, love, and that nervous excitement that comes with big life decisions. It made the romance feel genuine instead of overly dramatic.

Overall, this was a warm, heartfelt book that’s easy to enjoy, especially if you like relationship-driven stories with a comforting vibe.
