Love this one. I love things that remind me to be present, enjoy life, and slow down. A few things in the book I didn't love, but overall, a great read.
Annoying tip boxes that are often repetitive. Little bird symbols in the margin suggest sentences you should tweet. I found my first typo ("fin" instead of find) on p 5. I started skimming to see if it got better, and it didn't. I'm a homeschooling mom of 12 with years of living a slower paced more relaxed life than the world around us, lots of family time, very few scheduled activities. And yet, I found myself rolling my eyes at suggestions to hold up rituals around ordinary tasks like putting on lotion after washing dishes. Not my cup of tea.
DNF I found the author’s writing style to be hard to follow and while she had great thoughts on how to live a “slow” life there was no practical advice on how to do so aside from asking the reader a hundred philosophical questions. With a book about savoring slow, one would not expect to be overwhelmed by the author’s questions…which is exactly how I felt.
I am not sure if I read this book at the wrong time in my life or what. I thought some of here ideas were unrealistic. I can not do everything in my life slow. I would rather do it quickly. I do like her idea of savoring moments. All in all I thought the book lived up to it's name, it was slow.
I felt like the book's ideas were a lot of contradictions that would be hard to put into practice. I did appreciate some of the points made about slowing down and living in the moment.
Excellent book! It is so hard sometimes to be truly present with your kids and this book walks you through the benefits and gives you steps/tips to help you to truly enjoy and appreciate your life.
So thankful for this simple, well structured guide to being a present peaceful playful mama. Our family has made big successful changes thanks to this book.
