Reading The Tweed Ring by Alexander B. Callow, Jr. and the similarities to current events struck me as well. The downfall of the Ring was due to "leakers."

Spoiler alert: However, after extensive investigation of fraud, few conspirators were jailed. To date, there were more convictions from the Mueller investigation.

detailed, though somewhat dry, history of the first major political machine in the United
States. Great cartoons by Thomas Nast included.
