Dark family secrets come to light when a girl on the run seeks refuge with her estranged brothers, one of them a cop.

Cameron Baker has always felt like the punch line to a bad joke. She’s an orphan, borderline alcoholic party-girl and chronic screw-up, but the summer she turns eighteen, her life hits a new low. She wakes up after a drunken night to find out she’s married to her very manipulative frenemy, Julian. In a panicked frenzy, she packs her belongings and flees. On the run from the police as well, she seeks refuge with her two older brothers, whom she hasn’t seen in years.
Returning to her childhood home in a small town in Georgia, Cameron makes up an excuse about bonding with her brothers for the summer, and secretly tries to figure out how to get herself out of this mess. Though Cameron is seemingly safe, she can’t shake the urges to drink her pain away, and her brothers notice this quickly. As awkward and protective instincts fly in the wounded family, Cameron feels like the black sheep among them. She harbors more resentment about their estranged years than she initially thought. Shane, a reformed bad-boy and long time friend of the family quickly takes her under his wing. His belief in hope and second chances is just the ticket she needs to straighten out her life, and a reluctant romance blooms between them. Just as she’s about to settle in and allow herself some happiness, Julian tracks her down. His threat: leave with him, or he’ll tell everyone all of her dirty little secrets—and she has much more to hide than her marriage.
As the family struggles to accept each other, flaws and all, the past just won’t stay buried. With so many secrets to hide, it’s only a matter of time before it all blows up in her face. Her only way out is to admit the terrible truths she’s been running from, and finally face her demons, but will she be strong enough?

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads

With all the warnings that come with this book, I was a little nervous to start, but once I had got over that, I pitched in and read it straight through. It certainly doesn't hold back, and I was glad it was fiction! I enjoyed the characters, in all their forms and the tension kept me reading long beyond my eyes' comfort! I am still trying to decide whether I would want Chad and Sam as brothers or not ... but Cameron certainly needed someone to sort her out!

I haven't read a book by Ms Denton before, but I will be rectifying that very soon. Looking forward to book 2 in this series.

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This is one intense book. Packed with mystery, tons of secrets, even a budding romance between Cameron and Shane. Both the primary and secondary characters have secrets, past traumas and issues that complicate communication. The story line grabs you in the beginning and captures for the entire adventure. Great characters, realistic situations and loved the ending. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Highly recommend this book to lovers of an amazing story. Five Stars.
An amazing book! Part psychological thriller, part coming of age, part romance, equals one spectacular read! Cameron, is young, too young to be in so much trouble. Drinking, promiscuous, dishonest, a runaway, and one more thing....a murderer! What can she get into next? Running has always been her forte. Maybe because she was orphaned at the age of six and her two brothers thought the wise choice was sending her to live with an aunt. Now she's running again. Running from her demons that are constantly following her. Her on and off again boyfriend is a huge help. He's been there for her all along. What would she do without him? Her life finally reaches a crescendo, where running is no longer an option. Will she be able to live with the answers that are finally unraveled? Can her brothers and new love interest live with the secrets that will come to light? Eill she finall have the family that she so dedperately desires? You have to read this book. Highly entertaining, keeps you on the edge of your seat. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I give this book 5 stars. Can't wait to read the next one!!
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~

Cam and Shane are probably the best things that could have happened to each other's lives. Cam definitely has some long-standing issues and Shane has already been there and dealt with this (pretty much anyway). Shane guides her on her way to being a better person. Cam wants to be a better person but just keeps getting side tracked along the way. Her brothers are there to help her too but they sometimes muddy the waters.

This story is well written and very easy to follow. The characters all have depth and make you want to see them get what they want and need out of life. Scenes are set very well. Not enough to make me feel like I was there, but better than most other stories I have read. I did, however, feel like I wanted to slap the ever living crap out of Cam on several occasions. I understand being embarrassed and angry about your past, but get over it. The more she hid things, the worse things got for her and she never seemed to get that fact. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Cam. Under it all, she is sweet and just a scared girl trying to find her way.

Another Life is the first book in this series and does have an HEA. But there were several things left open - obviously for follow-up books.

I had the opportunity to read a new book, 'Another Life', by Jasmine Denton this week. I traded a fair review of my book 'Love 'n Lies' for a review of hers.
I finished the book the same day Jasmine Denton sent it to me.
I literally could not stop reading it. I had to see what new twist, event, characteristic, Jasmine Denton introduced next as her story gained speed. This book held me spellbound.
Jasmine Denton has captured the heart and soul of the YA coming of age with her use of teenage angst and drama, the twists and turns of an almost adult teenage girl beginning the process of understanding Newton's Law of Motion as it applies to her real world.
Her characters are genuine people with real voices you could meet any day of the week and her choice of setting in small town America is very believable. Jasmine Denton takes control of unpleasant realities that do happen to too many real life teenagers and solves them.
Another Life starts with eighteen-year-old young adult, Cameron, on the run from Something. We get the Something in bits, some tidbits in flashback/nightmares and other info in conversation. Cameron runs to her brothers, perhaps understanding deep in her subconscious that family stands behind you no matter what you've done.
A heartwarming story showing the strength of family ties.

Right from the very beginning this book pulled me in and didn't let go until the very last page where I just kinda sat there for a while and tried to absorb all that had transpired. This is not a light hearted read. This was also at times not an easy read for me. It was emotional and gut wrenching. The characterisation was fantastic. Each person played their role to perfection and they came across as real. They were not perfect but they also had their redeeming qualities that made you get behind them and hope that everything came out right in the end. Cameron especially was someone I felt I could really get behind. She may not always deal with things in the best way but nobody is perfect. I personally think this is one of they books that is best read without knowing too much about it beforehand,
I barely skimmed the blurb before and didn't check the reviews as I usually do and for once I'm glad of it, not knowing too much of what was to come really upped my enjoyment of this book overall and for that reason I am only going to say, if you're looking for something that will keep you turning the pages desperate to see what happens next this is the one for you. Clear your schedule and give this the time it deserves to be enjoyed properly.
