Hannah knew taking a job with the genetically engineered hybrids of Luna Lodge would be interesting. Unfortunately for her, the revelation of the hybrids’ true nature to the world and attacks by their creators, the Horatius Group, have left her living at a compound that really doesn’t need a party planner anymore.

Faced with the loss of her job, she comforts herself by trying to act as a kind ear to emotionally troubled hybrids, but she finds herself drawn to the scarred and stoic Lucius. He, however, seems more interested in getting rid of her than being with her.

As the acting head of security, Lucius knows he can’t lose focus, especially with their enemy having already struck at them twice. His attraction to Hannah both confuses and frustrates him. Even if he’s prepared to give in, he knows there’s no way she’d really want someone as messed up as him.

The past rarely stays buried. Soon, Lucius and Hannah confront a darkness that threatens to consume them both.

Madison currently lives with her husband and two children in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, Arizona. After leaving the frozen tundra of the north, Madison was more surprised than anyone with how much she has enjoyed living in the desert. Seeing as she had stated on more than one occasion how much she hated the heat, it was an odd move. But it seemed her hatred for sub-zero temps and ice, or really the things that ice could do, won out in the end.
When she’s not writing, she’s enjoying time with her family. Madison and her family frequent festivals in the area, as well as local cultural events, and spend time with family in the area. In the summer she is most likely to be found in the pool with the family and in the winter by the fireplace. Since both her children are autistic, days can be a little chaotic but with her husband beside her, there’s nothing she can’t handle. Luckily he is also an author and able to share in all the activities (and chores) special needs kids require.

The author created the perfect strong silent type when she thought up this alpha male. The poor guy has been through so much and didn’t even realize that he was a little off kilter. Luckily for him the author gave him a mate who believes in forgiveness and second chances. The story behind the hybrids of Luna Lodge continues to get more intricate with each new book. I, for one, can’t wait for the next one.

2* - please be advised of mild spoilers

Lucius is the third book in the Lunar Lodge series and the third book that I have read. While I was willing to give this series a go, unfortunately, for me this book became the end of that road. Beside the fact that this series is really quite formulaic, the characters are losing all of the credibility and any appeal that they had. There are also certain trends and turns that I just don’t have any more tolerance for. Here are some of them:

Excessive moaning and groaning

Constant, exasperating, aggravating sighing (it started with second book,” Titus”, but in this book it reached an epidemic proportion. Really, with all that sighing going on, someone please check the characters for the impaired pulmonary functions)

How often everyone either whispers or shouts.

The fact that this book feels like it was edited by a word-processing and use of spell – check, but without any human interaction. Forget about punctuations, confusing his and hers – any proof reader surely would have noticed words with correct spelling, but wrong in the context, e.g. the guards keep checking and walking the “parameter” and not perimeter of the compound. There are also frequent losses in continuity of the action which resulted in rather bizarre sequences of events.

Now then, about Hannah. Please, don’t get me wrong, I am all for the girl – power, however it was incredulous how Hannah, our rather curvy heroine, ended up being practically an embodiment of a superwoman. There is agility and super strength – she is constantly jumping and even manages to do so while having sex, with our hefty hero firmly imbedded between her thighs. There is extreme speed – she hops out of the car, but then the next moment our hero is helping her out of the same car ( obviously, faster than a speeding bullet , she got back in to that car so her honey could be gallant or, most likely, see the loss of continuity comment). Her flexibility appears to be phenomenal – after being kidnapped, with her hands tied with cable ties (mind you, we are never told if her hands were tied at the front or at the back which is significant in view of what comes next) she manages to crack open the pendant that contains a vile with secret potion and lodge the pendant between her breasts, then she bends her head, reaches for the vile (which is still held between her breasts) with her teeth, opens it with same teeth and drinks the potion ! Wow!!!! Either she’s got monumental gazungas that sit right under her chin or she can give Mister Fantastic from Fantastic Four a run for his money. Obviously, if her hands were tied in the front, such feat of contortionism would not be required, and we would not be gifted with a scene that overstretches boundaries of credibility, not to mention the laws of physics and anatomy.
One last thing – in the middle of military compound surrounded by scores of soldiers and highly trained super – duper hybrids, a bunch of women could not have a get together for girl’s night in because it was not considered to be safe. Well, not surprising, since the most these super-duper hybrids were doing was moaning, groaning, growling, sighing and having sex. It appears that all of their training has gone to seed and more often than not boys were rescued by the girls and frankly, I just could not care less. Maybe in the following books our heroes will get off their duffs and start being heroic but this reader is not interested enough to find out.

Lucius and Hannah. Hannah is in charge of organizing social events etc on the 'compound'. I liked her character and was rooting for her and looking forward to Lucius finding his love in her. But Lucius is an idiot. He is obsessed with his mate equaling his sense of smell. He admires Hannah. He lusts after Hannah. He daydreams about Hannah. But he can't smell if she is vestal and therefore will not pursue a relationship with her... until she punches him in the nose. (loved that!!!) Then the OW from his past shows up. No worries to those who hate OW scenarios... her 'affections' are not reciprocated in the least! But she has a jealous/psycho hate on for Hannah. Some good action ensues and Lucius is lucky his taste in women has improved!

I haven't done this review before on Madison Stevens books because I read some of her books before I started with this reviewing.

Like every book I read from this author it just leaves me wanting more. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I love the story and the writing. I love everything. This is definitely my kind of book and I can't wait to read the other books from this author. I can't say much about this book because I just love it and I can't describe with word what this author does to me with her books. They are just amazing.

Recommend this book to everyone who loves a little suspense with romance in their books.

Frustrating, exciting and hot

Well this is another good story in the Luna Lodge series. I have enjoyed each book and look forward to more in the future. Even though these books are reminiscent of Laurann Dohner's New Species series, Madison Stevens is making her own name in this genre. Well worth reading.

Loved it! Maybe not as much as the first two but was still a great read. Storyline was suspenseful, intriguing and steamy. Loved the chemistry between Hannah and Lucius. A mate seemly sneaks upon Lucius because he's so involved in security and never wanted one. Definitely twists and turns in this one that kept the suspense up. Would recommend.

The tough guy.

You might think it's a total cliche, the tough guy who is so grumpy because he doesn't want to be weakened by love, but it doesn't feel derivative at all while you're reading it because the characters are alive and compelling.

Lucius: #3

I thought it would be the pale man that would come after them again, I didn't expect the crazy woman that tortured Lucius to penetrate their compound. Hannah is the bomb and I loved how she jumped in to save her mate.

"Intense didn’t even begin to describe Lucius."

Lucius is Mr. Uptight, contained and controlled, Hannah is the part planner whose people skills means her office is the one everyone gravitated too. Need someone to listen, offer a word of advice? That's Hannah. But what if you're the guy who just doesn't talk much, except about keeping everyone safe?

This book moves forward several pieces of the puzzle, making it clear something big is happening in this series.

Read this in the box set but cannot say I will be buying any more from this series.
This books lost any spark it might have had and felt like a rinse and repeat with different named characters.
I will stick with the other two series I love.

I definitely think these books are getting a little better with each one, but maybe I’m also just getting used to the storytelling and things annoy me less lol.

I do think there wasn’t much explored in terms of their relationship, but it was still an enjoyable read, just needed something more to be great I guess.
