I have so many words to say about this book but my 5 month old isn't having it so I'll make it short and sweet:
LOVED that it has Romanian words (even though Vârcolac is more used as the meaning of Werewolf and "The Cock's Den" translated in Romania is "Bârlogul Cocoșului" and not "Cocoșesc Bârlog" but that's Google Translate for ya). LOVED all the characters, even the bad ones. LOVED that it contains Romanian history and the author visited some castles and other significant places. Just look how cool they are: Absolutely LOVED the writing, it was the exact amount of fun, action, drama and love. (for those of you who loved the BDB series, YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!! NOW!!!
Do you like huge, hot and powerful males who commit to only one woman? Love to see a warrior brought to his knees, heart in hand? Get ready for Book Two of The Community Series, where the intrigue, humor and romance continue. The Purest of the Breed by Tracy Tappan not only does justice to book one, Bloodline War, but it may surpass it for “glued to each page, because I can’t believe this is happening,” reading!
Marissa is attacked by a vicious gang, was it random or is there something more going on? Enter her savior, a huge and powerful man that raises her heart rate with just a touch and changes her world forever. Dev is a powerful warrior for the Varcolac, a supernatural race who lives deep beneath the surface in secrecy. His mission is to fight the evil that threatens both his world and that of the human race, but when he comes in contact with Marissa, he knows they are destined mates. The problem, you ask? How does he tell her what he is, what she is and that he has been saving himself for centuries, just for her without scaring her away?
As for Marissa, her life has always been in turmoil, only recently has she been able to step out of her emotional torture chamber and go for what she wants. That didn’t include an underground dweller who drinks blood, has his own demons from his past and refuses to have sex with her until they are bonded. Seriously? A virgin male? How hot is that? When the danger increases and both Dev and Marissa’s pasts give them a good smack-down, only one will learn to accept the hidden truths with grace. Will Marissa decide to move forward with her life and leave Dev behind? Will Dev's ego destroy any hope for love?
All I can say is Tracy Tappan’s crisp writing and sense of humor, snark and romance lands her another hit! Ms Tappan colors outside the lines and creates an amazing tale of love, loss, betrayals and personal growth all in a fantasy world of her own creation. Love the dialogue, the camaraderie, the banter and the male angst. She writes with heart, bold strokes and gives life to the impossible, all at a fast pace that will kept me on the edge of my seat! So how long do I wait for book three??
I received an ARC edition from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Series: The Community - Book 2 Expected publication: July 1st 2014 Publisher: B. Reed Publishing ISBN13: 9780991261338 Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance/Intrigue Print Length: 360 pages
Tracy Tappan's writing reads like that best friend who's a lot of fun and tells questionably inappropriate jokes that make you laugh at completely inappropriate times, like funerals and abductions.
The Purest of the Breed, Book Two of The Community Series, picks up where the cliffhanger ending of Book One left off, with the Vârcolac warriors heading out on a mission to attempt to rescue four women from the REAL bad guys.
The descriptions of the characters, locales, and scenery within the book are very well done. Tappan provides just the right amount of descriptive detail - enough so that the image in your mind is clear, but not so much that she bogs you down and bores you with unnecessary information. That's a hard balance to find, and one that many authors never quite master.
Another strength of Tappan's writing is her ability to stay true to each character's unique voice in a series that has many characters with very different personalities. With so many characters, the easy way out would be to have some of them be flat and static background characters, but Tappan stays true to her characters and lets them breathe and live independently of one another with their own distinct quirks. This also allows the reader to more easily keep the multiple characters straight in his/her own head, since each character is individually memorable.
You could, theoretically, read The Purest of the Breed without first reading The Bloodline War, as Tappan covers all the pertinent information about the events of the first book in this one (another challenging task that she accomplished admirably). Her editorial team also deserves a shout-out, as it's very obvious that the author and editors go through these books with a fine-tooth comb before publication to make sure everything's as close to perfect as possible.
In a genre that's rife with opportunities for gaping plot holes, Tappan manages to weave explanations into her narrative so everything makes sense with no hiccups to pull you out of the story. She expands on the world-building she began in the first book with more details about the culture and mythology surrounding the Vârcolac race, as well as that of the other non-human races the Vârcolacs associate with (either by choice or by necessity). I loved the historical flashbacks into the early years of Dev's mother, Pettrila in 1877 Romania, and the tragic story of her escape from the vampire hunters. The book ends on another cliffhanger, making me desperate to get the third book in my hot little hands. This series is definitely a must-read.
*I received a complimentary e-ARC of this book for review purposes; all opinions remain my own.
Let me tell you about how a book might have literally saved my life. When I agreed to review this book, I was in a really, REALLY low place. Not to go into personal issues, but I was absolutely at my lowest point ever. I do not exaggerate in the least, when I say that I was ready to call it quits. Then I started Purest of the Breed. I had read The Bloodline War and loved it, one of my favorite books this year as a matter of fact, and felt an obligation to finish this commitment that I had made Tracy Tappan. Long, depressing story short.... Marissa and Dev made me laugh. I don't mean a giggle or a snort. I laughed til tears rolled and my stomach muscles cramped and begged for mercy. That shot of endorphins and joy brought me back to a sane place, so you will understand why I am now an acolyte of this series. Entire review published at http://ragesexandteddybears.blogspot....
I am so committed to this series. This second book was better than the first because of the great character-building. This story was exciting and spicy, and it was hard to put down!
Good grief !!! I love this series, and hope there is more to come. What an awesome ride. Got totally sucked in from book 1, devoured this one, and now I want more !!!
So……
DEV, our hero, was in the first book, and he was a secondary character in that one, and I hoped he would get a book. Marissa, our heroine, is human and has DNA that will make her compatible to mate and bear children with the Varcolac. The Varcolac are the vampires that live underground; they are more civilized than the Topside Om Rau. Although both races kidnap human females. The Varcolac woo and win their females, the Om Rau don’t.
This book starts off where the last one ended. Dev and his warriors off to rescue those women. The kidnapping of Marissa and 2 other women was a little hard to read, but it brought home how different the three warring factions are. Marissa and her fellow slaves are rescued by Dev and his team. The fight scenes are fast and furious, but had moments where you would chuckle. Especially, the one liners the Varcolac would throw out.
Dev felt an instant attraction to Marissa, but put it down to the smell of unattached dragon females produce. Dragon females are human women with compatible DNA that match both the Varcolac and the Om Rau vampires.
All Marissa ever wanted was to have her own restaurant. And the thought of owning one in Tarana, which is the underground city in which the Varcolac live, and the Om Rau keep trying to break into, was too good to turn down. She liked the idea of maybe spending time with Dev, what she didn’t bank on , was spending FOREVER with him. And that to stay with him, meant giving up her dreams, and being bitten by a vamp!
We have a lot of the original characters from the first book, so it felt more of a continuation of the whole story, rather than a new book. And we also had a few new threads added as well
Both Marissa and Dev have their own issues and hang ups, and they do hamper the couple from getting together. But I liked that they don’t get down and naughty within the first few pages. Dev HAD to work at gaining Marissa’s trust. And when I mean issues I mean ISSUES !!!! (mothers who hate you, and sisters that sabotage your every dream, and wish you dead)
There were the usual bad guys posturing and doing their usual sneers, and a few OMG moments.I do see a few females being taken in the future (hint hint hint at more books)
So to round this up, I totally recommend this series. If you like your alpha males with a bite and growl, then The Purest of the Breed is the book for you. Oh …. When is the next one out ?
This is the second installment in a paranormal romance series that offers up a thrilling and fast paced tale of ancient vampire warriors, known as the Varcolac, who are fighting to protect humans, while preserving their own race. Sensitive readers should be aware of a rape scene in this novel.
Marissa Bonaventure’s life is about to change drastically the night she meets special operative, Dev Nichita, who rescues her from a nightmarish kidnapping attempt. Confused, and understandably terrified, Marissa tries to make sense of her mysterious rescuer, and her supposedly random attack. For her own safety, she is brought to what she believes to be a research institution in an underground community called Tarana.
As Marissa recovers, the community leaders offer her a considerable amount of money to stay and work for a year. She learns that her rare bloodline holds the key to saving the Varcolac from extinction. But nothing in the bargain could have prepared her for the deepest, most dangerous truths that are about to be uncovered.
The story started off very strong, with an opening that left me on the edge of my seat! Marissa’s violent capture definitely set the tone for the rest of the novel. The complex world of the Varcolac was interesting and vivid, but a bit hard to follow at times, due to the multiple points of view. I also found the romance to be somewhat disappointing. However, both Dev and Marissa were compelling characters, who were at their best while interacting with others. Further, the characters' psychological responses to certain events was refreshingly realistic.
I was impressed with the gritty and bold storyline, deeply flawed characters, and the unique spin on vampire lore. Overall, an intriguing read. I look forward to learning more about the mythology of the Varcolac in future installments.
Tracy Tappan does a grand slam in this second book of the “Community Series”. This is a very fast, action packed, exciting book dealing with the Varcolac, who some like to call vampires and the extinct race of human Dragon females, as well as two groups of bad guys also trying to get these women for breeding.
Who wouldn’t want to read a book with a galore of hot, sexy, muscled good guys fighting scary bad guys over beautiful women? What is really the best part of this book is how the author interweaves numerous story lines and some flashbacks at the same time to keep you on the edge of your seat even at the cliffhanger ending.
The main focus on this book is that hot and sexy Dev from book one and Marissa a human Dragon he rescued from the bad guys. Between past and present family issues these two work through multiple obstacles hoping to forge a relationship based on love.
As secondary characters I really connected with the love and struggle between Alex and Luvera, Dev’s sister, and bad boy Shon that I keep feeling isn’t as bad as he keeps leading on.
This is a seriously great read that I recommend for people who are ready up their “same old same old” vampire book to the wow this is a new and fresh one.

This is a stand-alone, multi-POV, steamy, paranormal romance. You don't have to read Book 1 to understand this one, but obviously, it's better if you do. It was well-written, excellently plotted, and the pacing was perfect -- pretty much exactly what I said in my review of Book 1.
I picked up Book 1 because of the awards and recognition it's received, and I loved it so much, that I immediately downloaded and read Book 2 in one sitting as well. Yes, my butt is a little sore from sitting for so long, but it was worth it!
It's such a different type of vampire story, with just the right amount of ancient history and culture mixed with the modern. The different types of paranormal creatures and world they live in is set and described so well, that she could spin off tons of stories from this series. It actually reminds me of Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series in some ways, although I think Tappan's are better written and has more depth and richness.
In the beginning of Book 1, I was fearful that the multiple characters and multiple points of views would get confusing, but it didn't. She didn't make it confusing in Book 2 either.
I highly recommend this book....she's one of my new favorite PNR authors! Can't wait for Book 3!
I tried. I really did. But these books are shit. Plain and simple. Awful awful awful. The last few chapters were bearable but it sure was a painful process getting to the end of this book. I'm stunned that people have rated this series so high and have compared it to the BDB series by J.R. Ward. Not even in the same ballpark. The way these characters speak is like reading a warped version of the waltons or the partridge family or something. For example, a vampire badass "warrior" calling his enemies "buncha cheese weasels" WTF? Like I said, AWFUL. Remove the ridiculous language and the books would be slightly more readable but even the so called love stories are like a parody of a bad pre-teen TV show. Brutal bad.
Why the fuck are there soo many 5-star ratings for this book?
Like interesting premise, but what the fuck? There are soo many stories going on in this one book that it makes it hella annoying to read in the first place. On top of that… there is like no smut, and when the smut comes it’s not really smut #fadetoblack. The emotions and the way things played out gave me whiplash. Especially the “main characters” separation part. Like this got a one star because of how annoying it was just trying to read it. Like most of the story is other people’s stories and points of view. It’s weird. I didn’t like it. You’d fade to black, jump time, circle back, go to another characters background… soooo fucking annoying. I did make it to the end… that’s about the only positive thing I can say…
This book was weird. I could have cared less for Marissa and Dev, but I really liked Alex and Luvera. And Luvera's mom's story. That was a crazy ride. As always, I want more of a look into the relationship of these people. I don't care about the rival race or Raymond. I don't care about the kidnappings, I feel like there is so much story with what they already have. This sort of reminds me of the lessers in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. AKA, I don't care about them.
Also, the ending. Really. One page to explain how everything worked out. IT was sorta weird but didn't stop me from reading the next book
Power to the dragons! Glad the ladies stuck it to the man and made a significlant change to their lives and world. And yes. Their husbands to.
Liked Dev and his lady love. I find it awesome that they were simple yet so damn cute. And funny.
Still find some things a bit OTT but its usually manageable Still loving the characters plots etc. Found myself in a hurry to read on that I was done before I knew it.
This series is getting better and better. The author has really found her style with these books. I felt like I knew more of the community, more characters are introduced which only adds to the series.
Loved it! The Purest of the Breed was packed with amazing history of the Breed. The action, danger, and drama had my heart pounding. The betrayal that is uncovered in this story had my jaw dropping! Absolutely wonderful series! ❤ ❤
Action packed from start to finish! The Purest of the Breed by Tracy Tappan was able to have me gripped within the first few pages and although I had not read the first book within the series it was easy enough to catch onto what was going on within the plot; who was who and the history between the The Topside Om Rău , Underground Om Rău and the main breed of "Vampire" the Vârcolac.
It begins with Marissa Bonaventure being ripped from her bed in the middle of the night by a group of large scary men with distinctive flame tattoos on their faces. Murk & Teer upon snatching her proceed to force her into the trunk of their car which brings back unwanted memories of an experience she had with her sister when she was drowning and she stood there with pure dislike on her face and did not move a muscle to help her. At that point in her life she had never felt so helpless. Her sister and her have had a difficult past to put it mildly with Marissa giving up everything in her life to look after her mother when she became ill. She never really had a start to begin with, having scoliosis as a child she suffered from terrible spinal problems which she eventually had fixed via surgery but the "birth mark" she sported also on her lower back she could do nothing about. Natalie began campaign to take everything she could from Marissa, whether it be sleeping with her boyfriends right through to the biggest deceit of all - taking away her dreams. Marissa dreamed of being one of the Worlds Top Leading Chefs, but quit collage to look after her mother, where Natalie carried on and went off to France to a prestigious school to learn the art of culinary cooking, only to come back years later taking the job she had applied for recently. That was the final straw! But all this was a flash in her mind as she was shoved in that trunk, trying to fight back, a ball gag is placed in her mouth, her hands and feet tied up and driven off to an exchange.
At the Warehouse she discovers she is not alone, there are two other girls. One is huddled in a corner and another is bent over a table being abused. A new type of sheer fear lances it's way through Marissa. Upon meeting the new men who have come to the exchange to take them she notices they are very similar, they smell awful and they too have tattoos but instead of flames they have what looks like interlocking teeth.
Dev Nichita is a Vârcolac Purebred or what we would consider a Vampire, with a body you could worship all day and night long for that matter, silver eyes and a sexy gold hoop in his ear. I didn't even know any more information about him at this point other than he wanted to take a team up to the surface form their cave compound called Ţărână , to save 4 women he had heard (through discovered communication between the Topside Om Rău & the Underground Om Rău ) had been taken and were going to be used in an exchange - Just this information alone and his description had me weak at the knees, both hot and passionate about caring! Now that's a heady combination! The Vârcolac, they are of the night, they drink blood, they are sexy as hell, stacked, know how to kick ass, fly and are the nicest people you could know. A far cry from those that are either Topside or Underground Om Rău because they are evil style vampire, the type nightmares are borne of, half demon they commit heinous crimes, do not believe in treating anyone with any type of care in any way, everything is violence based or styled - your worst fears come to life and they are vampires on top of that! Dev manages to convince the Varcolac council to allow him to go topside and attempt a rescue. The main reason to rescue these women and the reason they were taken in the first place is because they have a unique signature in their blood (Peak 8). The women are Dragon women - All blonde, slim and share a similar dragon scale "birthmark" on them. It is with only them these groups can Mate Bond with to continue their races with because Purebred Vârcolac mates had been non producing in the child department for many years now and would face extinction without the introduction of these Dragon Females. Saving this 4 is important to the Vârcolac race as a whole.
Swooping in to save the day Dev and his team ( Thomal, Gabor & Sedge) kick arse against the Om Rau snatching 3 of the women from them (the fourth had not been captured in the first instance), Marissa, Hadley & Kendra. When Marissa first sets eyes on Marissa she refers to him as Bat Man, her Bat Man as he came straight from the shadows, flying down to rescue her and the other 2 women with the help of his team. Boths side sustain injuries both physical direct contact and via being shot which confuses her on every level because no matter what is done to them they just don't seem to be able to be killed! Nothing fazes them.
When they arrive in Ţărână , the women are taken under Dr Toni Parthen's (Toni has Dragon's blood too but is of the Royal Fey - Book 1 in this Series is about her), wing and go straight into the glorious mansion. They are taken care of and given time to get over their shock, beginning the process of sorting through what has happened to them. They are given a different kind of explanation as to what is going on around them and to why they are kidnapped, this way they do not get scared and refuse to stay and get to know the Vârcolac males to whom they hope will fall for one before the "Big Reveal" where they will be told they are in fact an ancient race of Vampires known as Vârcolac . Each woman meets with Kimberly, the communities lawyer who spends her time split between the outside world and the Ţărână city within the cave, much to her husbands dismay but he can not deny her anything as he loves her so much and it is a massive help to have a lawyer on hand, so it works well for everyone. Meeting with Kimberly the girls are offered a half a million dollar contract to stay for a year within the community, with the community providing them with anything they need - in Marissa's case they are willing to build her her own restaurant allowing her to "cut her teeth" in the industry, which is an opportunity she could not miss out on given the fact of her sister stealing everything from her up in the "real world". With this offer to stay Marissa jumps at the chance, so does Hadley as they appeal to her needs but Kendra declines, her rape at the hands of the Om Rău too much for her, she just wants to go home regardless the fact she is told that her safety is on the line.
Since the moment Dev and Marissa met that fateful night there was a spark between the two, and with Vârcolac males only mating for life, they are careful around women. Marissa mesmerises him, he can smell her scent anywhere and as the two begin dating and grow closer, her need for physical touch and interaction becomes clear, the only hick up is that without the mate bond, Vârcolac males and females feel extreme pain if they become aroused too much. In effect no blood equals no wood...........
When the final reveal comes and the women are told the truth about Ţărână, that the men they have been dating & the majority of the people around them are Vampires, and they they themselves are part of an ancient race of Dragon blood women who are the only ones who can breed with the Vârcolac (and Om Rău which is why they were targeted and without staying in effect would leave them hunted by the Om Rău for the rest of their lives), they are the future saviours of their race - Will they be able to see past what they perceive as monsters? What does this mean for Marissa and Dev?
I can truly say this book was exciting, from page to page you were whipped into a story that had you headed down the rabbit hole to a world that not only was filled with danger but was also filled with a sense of love, friendship and family. There is a perfect combination of past and present to explain each individual situation - Lies, secrets, manipulation, truth, justice, underhandedness, determination and devastation are just a small elements of this novel. It is packed to the pages with every emotion possible, a fully mind blowing thrill ride that will have you on your toes, and have you turning the pages with abandon!
A true must read, in fact I am headed off now to read Book 1 in the series and cannot wait for Book 3! 5***** are not enough!
The Purest of the Breed by Tracy Tappan is the second book in The Community series. Marissa is kidnapped during the night, but is rescued by a hot guy, Dev. For her own safety, she finds herself in an underground town. There Marissa and Dev get closer, but as soon as Marissa realizes that Dev is a vampire, she doesn't want a relationship anymore. But Dev will do anything to make Marissa his wife.
I wanted a hot and steamy book about vampires, but I got a creepy and violent book instead. The first third of the book was not that bad. There was some action and fighting, but nothing too weird or out of place. This book has many different POVs. That was the first thing that really confused me. The story was jumping around a lot and then there were some flashback chapters about a time centuries ago. There were just so many different plots which were all connected somehow, which confused me. I don't really like too many different POVs. Soon, I also realized that I do not like Tappan's writing style. I don't know what it was, but I just didn't like it. It was really difficult for me to read. What really bothered me was the constant reproduction of gender stereotypes. Oh my god, how that still annoys me! Women are seen as the birthing machines to uphold a species of vampires. And for that the kidnap (mainly) women! But you know, the good vampires stopped doing that a little bit ago. They know invite them to stay in their underground town and live with them until they fall in love with one of the vampires. But to make them stay, they offer them a huge amount of money. Sounds suspicious in my opinion. Most women don't seem to get enough time to actually think about all what's about to happen. From the couples in this book, most were married under one year of knowing each other! And marriage in this context means, bonded to each other for eternity. There were many other weird examples of stereotypes that bothered me.
So, basically this book started off with a rape scene, which happened during a kidnapping. This was not something I hoped to read in this book and shocked me. Unfortunately, this was not the only sexual assault scene in this book. There were at least two other ones that were described in detail. One, where Dev's sister wanted to have sex with some guy (which is illegal in vampire laws, because you only can have sex with someone whom you are bonded to), but then changed her mind and the guy just did not want to accept and tried to force her. Luckily, she got away. And the other is between Marissa and Dev. As I said before, vampires are physically not able to have sex because they can only have sex if they have bonded by biting someone and making them their mate. First, Marissa tried to force Dev to have sex with her (that's when she did not know that he was a vampire) and basically said something like "if you don't have sex with me now, I am ending this relationship." And then later on, when they bonded, Dev had sex with her, even though she didn't really want it. She said no several times, but then said yes as Dev was feeling unwell because of some vampire thing that was going on. But still, that's assault. The men's goal was basically to have sex with women. They want to possess them and make them theirs. The way they talked about women made me want to puke. I don’t like that.
Well, I was not happy with this book and did not enjoy it. I liked the first third, but then the book started to get weirder and weirder. There were too many gender stereotypes reproduced and too many sexual assault scenes (and with that I mean that one was already too much). I can't recommend this book.
Marissa Bonaventure is working as a chef at a French restaurant when she’s kidnapped from her apartment. Dev Nichita is drawn to Marissa as one of the newest Dragon females he rescued from the Om Rău. Even though these last were violently introduced to Ţărână, the new Dragons have not yet been indoctrinated to the Vârcolac culture. Putting serious consequences aside, you can find humor in Dev’s reactions in trying to keep Marissa from finding out the truth about their secrets.
This is another exciting adventure that will keep you thoroughly enthralled. Dev and Marissa’s story is a roller coaster of emotions. When the truth is finally revealed, it’s heartbreaking watching them both deal separately with their feelings. But just as they seem to be moving together again, there are roadblocks from within as well as without the community that threaten their well-being as well as that of others in the Community.
You are sure to find yourself on the edge of your seat as it seems that all hell’s breaking loose with the Community facing an emergency shutdown and threats from the Om Rău are escalating. It’s a fascinating tale that will have you turning pages from the beginning to not quite the end. There’s more to come in this amazing world that is sure to keep you coming back for more.
I really don't understand why there are so many POVs written in these books. I'm going to read the series because I want to see how everything plays out, but I won't read anymore books by this author after that. Her writing is wonderful, plots engaging, and characters to root for, but how many stories is she telling all at once, and why do I need to be in everyone's head at the same time? It's too much.
I loved the H until near the end. He was on point with his caring and his attitude until the big issue. I get his flip out because in the heat of the moment, you react. However, .
Really interesting take on a Vampire Paranormal romance. Tracy Tappan has been creative with world-building and this story, while set predominantly in the present does skip back into past events in Romania over a century ago.
I enjoyed the story and the fact that these guys mate for life and must remain celibate until they are blood-bonded. In the end though, the romance between the main characters Dev and Marissa felt a little flat.
Be warned, at the very beginning of the book there is a scene of a violent sexual assault.
1st book was really good, great development, good story & good scenes. The 2nd book however, seemed to be written by a 2nd rate, totally different author with different concept of the world the book takes place in. Society rules that were set in book 1 were totally different in book 2. The writing style, POV, past/present timeline variations were hard/annoying to follow. Despite wanting to know how the series plays out, I'm not continuing the series beyond the 2nd book. I was hoping this would be my next series to devour but I'm wishing I hadn't picked it up.
Please don't compare to BDB. Although I found this to be an enjoyable and original read. Characters and world building are fairly well written, this one is much darker than the 1st and flow a little hincky at times. While I appreciate the development of additional characters, it took away from the love story of main characters. On to book 3.
There is no shortage of shock and awe to the series and this book continued in the same vein! I always get creeped out by vampires but these ones are anything but creepy. I may even like the concept now! With no shortage of drama, love & sex, and even horror, this is a tension filled chapter in the books.
This was fantastic, but there's a but coming. So disappointed that all Alex got was a few lines about being married. Would have loved to had a few chapters on that journey. This book made me laugh out loud! Loved the twists and turns. Also shed a few tears to. I love it when a story makes me emotional.
This series has sucked me in. As soon as I completed this book I bought the next book. I like that the stories don’t focus on just one couple, but several as well as many side characters. It really adds to the depth of the story. I love the historical aspects as well. The spice is nice, but definitely not overwhelming.
Brilliant book that keeps you wanting more and more. If I had to critique it a tiny bit I’d just say that the way the last page ends gives you no idea it’s the end of the book but, if the book that follows this literally starts as though your just reading the next chapter like book one did then I won’t complain.
I did enjoy book 1 a little more, but that didn't stop me from devouring book two and looking forward to the continuation of the series. Great world building. 🌎 likable characters even when they, themselves, haven't figured out they are likable. I recommend it. A new premise on the more common vampire trope
Good story but what's with the gaps in the story line?
I have enjoyed the series but this one has definite gaps that make no sense. Its like Tappan just decides to skip random parts. Makes no sense. Nothing leads up to them or flows away. Weird and takes away from the quality of the book.
Well, this one was great, too. Again, I totally love these characters and the world they live in. Thomas is gonna be in for it. I am THRILLED about who his mate will be. Bring on the next one. I can’t stop reading this series.
I enjoyed second book just as much as the first book. The plot just keeps on thicking. There is such going on thAt you do want to put down. So much action and drama. Just well written. Really enjoyed it
