Sex, Drugs, Mafia, & Vampires!
Where has this series been all my life?!?!
If this feeling he had was love, then love sucked ass.
Sometimes you finish a book and you're a little sad that the story is over... Other times you finish a book and a smile stretches across your face because you've just discovered a new series. The Nightlife San Antonio left me with the latter feeling.

Oh yes, you can expect me to read the rest of this series as soon as possible.

This book is a standalone, but if it is any indication of the quality I can expect from The Nightlife series, then I think it's safe to say that Travis Luedke has a new fan.

That's right, folks - we have a MALE author here. Personally, I'm all about male authors... But if you're on the fence on that particular detail, I suggest you give this book a try. Sexy romance writing knows no gender...

I'd like to award extra points to this book for having a badass opening line:
Cockroaches left starbursts of red as they skittered across the slick blood splattered on the tile floor of what was once a nice little southwest hacienda.
A great opening line can really put you in the mood for everything which follows. Right off the bat you know that this is going to be a little bit graphic and a little bit twisted.

I was hooked immediately.

ADRIAN FAULKNER
In the world of Cartel and mafia, everyone had an agenda, everyone wanted something from her, or wanted to kill her. Adrian wore his agenda on his sleeve, without a care in the world. He just wanted to get laid, and she was perfectly happy accommodating him.
You see a lot of former military men in Modern Romance these days, and you see a lot of EMTs. What you don't see a lot of are sociopaths who are also obsessive germaphobes. Adrian somehow managed to be ALL of these things, which made him an immensely interesting character to read. Oh, and apparently he also has an enormous cock! *waggles eyebrows*

While working a shift as an EMT, Adrian resuscitates a woman who has suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He barely manages to keep her from dying on the way to the hospital, and he's fairly certain he'll never see her again after turning her over to the team of doctors at the trauma center.

A few nights later that same woman (who should still be half-dead in a coma) convinces Adrian to sneak her away from he hospital. By agreeing to help this poor crazy girl, Adrian gets sucked into a world of violence and corruption which might just get him killed...

LaREINA
He found her utterly fascinating, a nameless, homeless, naked vampire, sleeping away the day in his bed, wanted by state and federal police.
LaReina (aka Samantha) wakes up in a hospital room with no idea where she is, how she got there, or even WHO she is... The only thing she knows for certain is that she needs blood, and not the kind being pumped intravenously into her body along with a cocktail of drugs.

Teaming up with the handsome EMT seems like an easy decision. He seems perfectly happy to provide a hideout and meals in exchange for some impressive sex. But this is no honeymoon - it seems half of Texas is hunting her. There's a price on LaReina's head, and the only person she can trust is a man she just met.

Along the way they deal with:
Bikers,
Bigots,
Lesbians,
Vampires,
Corrupt Cops,
Gang-bangers...

This was wonderfully entertaining!
Action packed, ultra-sexy, and thrilling to the last page.
Lots of laughter, lust, and love....

"The Nightlife San Antonio" by Travis Luedke is an excellent and gripping stand alone novel in his sensational and breath-taking Vampire series.
On this occasion we step outside the regular cast and setting and focus close up and personal on two characters only (more or less): An amnesiac sexy female Vampire and her ambulance rescuer Adrian. She has been shot and almost dies but pulls through and he takes her into his home and gives her shelter there.
Adrian is a fantastic character with a military past and a dark psychological profile of his own. His house guest has a past yet to be discovered. While we are waiting to find out more about the attack on her and the connection to the Mexican Mafia, the two of them have plenty of hot and steamy sex. I am not normally a big fan of erotica but Luedke writes with a raw and honest style that is a breath of fresh air and makes the scenes realistic and powerful. The sexual tension is made even more gripping and intense by the constant 'playing with fire' that accompanies the sex with a vampire: the continuous temptation in her mind to bite him and kill him for all of his blood while he fights with his awareness of the danger combined with his inability or unwillingness to play it safe.
After "The Nightlife London" this is a perfectly timed interlude to the series formula. The book focusses on the bond forming between the two, especially once the memory comes back and the action takes off on a big scale.
Spiked with great one liners, fast paced writing, filth, sex and violence this is paranormal writing at its best. In an almost saturated market of Vampire novels the series stands out easily for its perfect blend of sex and violence.
Luedke's characters are solid and manage to walk the thin line between serious and tongue-in-cheek, throw in some un-pc views (on sexual politics and sex) and tempt you to join them in their adrenaline fuelled and exciting lives.
This is every bit as good as "True Blood"'s first season was to me. I sadly got bored with True Blood after two seasons, but there is no sign yet of me getting bored of The Nightlife.
A must read for fans of the genre.

4.5 This book was just hysterical and totally over the top. I loved it. The author is really great at word choices, humor, and putting together clever sentences. Even when something bad was happening in the plot, I was smiling on the inside waiting for the next snarky comment.

Adrian was an unusual hero who made more bad choices than good. From the beginning, he wanted to be good but he kept screwing it up. His characters history, perspective and actions really pulled the plot together and carried it through the end. His self-talk and conversations were really funny. La Reina’s tough character and distasteful eating habits balanced Adrian’s OCD cleanliness very well.

The plot itself is outrageous, shallow, ridiculous and completely unrealistic at times. It made perfect sense and flowed well because the MC’s were all of those things as well. Thankfully, the author is very good at pacing and had the freedom of the PNR genre to be creative.

I won’t spoil, but I wish that Crenshaw had a different ending. That was my only reader-regret. Crenshaw’s character is also very humorous.

I will definitely read another Travis Luedke book. The characters are like a train wreck I have to watch. I hope his other books are as witty as this one was. I felt like he was poking fun at multiple stereotypes in PNR romance books (hopefully intentionally) and that was a riot.

I would recommend this book to PNR readers who like fun action, humor, and witty phrasing. It is not a typical touching boy-meets-vampire romance or a serious dark vampire book. It is fun, sarcastic and witty.

I received a free copy of this book by the BDSM group in exchange for an honest review.

The Nightlife San Antonio by Travis Luedke is a stand alone erotic vampire tale that is unequalled in its breath-taking visual style. The author has reinvented the vampire genre and infused it with his brilliant Neo-Noir style of no nonsense sharp dialog and stunning action sequences.
Adrian saves the life of a beautiful nameless woman left for dead by the Mexican Mafia La Eme. He is a loner, declared a sociopath by his army psychologist and lives to save lives as a paramedic to make amends for all those he took on duty in Iraq. He wants for nothing and nothing wants him.
The woman he saves suffers amnesia as a safeguard to her trauma and miraculously recovers from the many bullet wounds. Her first instinct is to run, escape from La Eme. And once she has fed that is what she does. She is enigmatic, irresistibly gorgeous and deadly. As the story evolves so her memory returns as vampire, a queen and in need of a bloodslave. And along the way the two runaways meet an assortment of dark characters, get down and dirty in as many ways as the Kama Sutra and more besides until the thrilling climax. And what a climax it is too.
These two characters join forces in the most incredible action-packed, erotic, gorefest vampire novel this reader has ever read. I cannot praise the author enough for his talent for evoking such an addictive style and this reader is certainly hooked.
A FIVE STAR AVR - Adult Vampire Romance that I cannot recommend highly enough, but I'll try.

Full review here My Book Filled Life

What I really liked about this definitely unconventional romance is that it's more gritty and raw; there's plenty of violence, that while not extremely graphic, the way the words flow it's still easy enough to get a mental image of the carnage as it happens (there's scene with La Reina and a throat that has pretty much put me off of consuming any kind of meat for a while). But for me, the best part were the sex scenes, simply because they're written like how a sex scene should be told: raw and uncut, without the sappy, crappy poetic words that I'm pretty sure no one ever really says when they're doing the horizontal tango.

I'm running out of words to describe just how good Luedke's books are. Every new release is his best book yet.

The Nightlife: San Antonio is a blood-splattered rollercoaster of fun. It feels very grounded in reality making the supernatural action elements all-the-more powerful. Adrian is my new favorite everything. Total badass and everything I wish I was... which is probably not something I should actually say in public. Because he's a tad cray-cray. But I dare you not to cheer for him.

Ifyou haven't read anything by Travis Luedke yet, start with San Antonio. A few chapters in you'll be as hooked as any bloodslave.

p.s. the "rowed the boat ashore" scene is a classic.

Travis Luedke has managed to break every literary boundary I have set up in my life. Pushing me to read things that would have never interested me. Over a year and a half ago, I picked up my first Travis Luedke novel and it never ceases to amaze me that his books can take something I have no desire to read and turn them into must reads time and time again. I have spent more time with The Nightlife Series than any other series in my collection and this book is the perfect example of why.
Adrian is just trying to get through the motions of being a normal guy. He is an EMT, he is good at it because he doesn't have the emotional attachment to the people he is saving. But there is something about this one that just screws with his head a little. She is beautiful... and full of holes. There is no way she could possibly survive this. But if she were to live, there are about twenty different ways Adrian would like to work that body. Whatever, she is barely alive. He just needs to get her to a hospital and get on with his day.
She wakes up in a hospital bed; she doesn't know who she is. She has no idea what happened to her or why. There are things she knows and she has no idea why or what they mean. But she knows one thing, if they keep pumping all of this liquid into her she is never going to survive. She needs liquid, but not the clear kind they serve through tubes in the hospital. She knows she needs to eat. There is only one thing that can quench her thirst and at the first opportunity, she is going to.
Escaping from the hospital and the guards was the easy part... but now what? That's when she sees him in the parking lot. And let it begin. Adrian wants to do the right thing. But Adrian is dark and twisted all by himself. With an extreme profile left behind from his days in the military, Adrian knows that he is not normal and forming emotional attachments is not his thing. But here she is... she needs his help. So he does what any guy would do... wait, what? Ok, so I don't know anyone that would take her home and offer her assistance without knowing more than her name. But as it turns out he doesn't know that either because, she doesn't know her own name.
But it's not just her name Adrian doesn't know. He has no idea what is about to happen in his world. Everything is going to shift and spin out of control. Completely.
Adrian is good at the detachment, but there is something about her that he cannot separate himself from. And for her, she knows she needs him as much as he needs her. Then there's the sex... oh the sex... Her bite, the hot sex, whew... Together these two seem to be invincible.
When pieces of her past finally become clear to the both of them, things only get more intense. Bring in the drugs, the Mexican mafia and all the power encapsulated in those two things and you just have no idea how things are going to pan out. Power, control, sex, greed, guns, violence and crime...what could possible go wrong?
I can't relate to a single thing about these characters and for most books this would be a huge issue for me. But with The Nightlife San Antonio, all of my expectations are laid out on the table and then pushed off the edge one by one. This book is thrilling, dangerous and hot. What it is not is a book that would fall into a standardized category.
Travis Luedke takes so many genres and melds them all together into an exciting thrill ride that you can't escape from. Just when you think things are going to calm down and finally head in one direction, the platform is swept out from under you and you find yourself free-falling into an unknown world where vampires, mafia and sex collide. What you are left with is an amazing read that cannot be put down.
This book is just another example of a novel taking the road less traveled and coming in strong at the finish. This is not a simple story line and it is not a simple romance. The Nightlife San Antonio is dark and dangerous and holy crap, what is going to happen next? It is powerful and gripping and I am pretty sure the sex couldn't be more intense. I don't think I will ever tire of reading books by Travis Luedke. He is on my short list of go-to authors. When he hits publish, I devour.
This is a standalone novel and does not have to be read with the other books in the Nightlife Series. But the entire set of Nightlife books is amazing... These books will pull you from everything you thought you liked in a book and set you right down in the middle of everything you didn't know you liked, but you love!

The Nightlife Series

The Nightlife San Antonio (The Nightlife) by Travis Luedke
Travis Luedke

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP)

4.5 Stars. The Nightlife San Antonio is part of The Nightlife series, however it is also a standalone book.

Adrian Faulkner , an EMT, is called to the scene of what seems to be a Mexican Mafia shooting to find a barely breathing beautiful woman shot multiple times. With no idea of who she is, he later resuscitates her and leaves her in the care of the hospital thinking they will not meet again. oh boy! was he wrong.
Not only does he meet her again, but this eerily compelling woman was begging for his help. Not knowing what he was getting himself into,he accepts.......

The Nightlife San Antonio is a gripping tale. The main characters were superbly written. Scenes were well detailed, enough for you to smell the blood in the air!
I absolutely loved that the characters are not perfect. They both have a dark nature to them. All things considered you grow to love this as it is what makes them strong as a couple. Its what makes them and the story different.

What makes this story great is that you have the story told in both Adrian's and Samantha's (La Reina) POV's. However the only downfull for me was that it didn't have enough of her POV.

The nightlife San Antonio is a lustful, action packed paranormal erotic romance aimed at Adult readers.

If you love your vampire action-packed books with a more sexy, modern and spicy twist this is the book for you.

Blood, Sex, and Adrenaline

Overall - 4 stars
New characters, same world, same great energy. A paramedic is dragged into not only paranormal world, but also drug underworld when he answers a call to treat a shooting victim.

Fantasy World - 3 stars
We get a brief introduction to border issues and drug trafficking in Texas. More detail would be even better. Lots of medical jargon. Procedures sound so real I could almost hear the heart monitor's beep.

Tingle - 5 stars
Mostly M/F action with a unique twist a la Jessica from “True Blood”. Action is as hot and wild as expected.

Characters - 4 stars
Adrian wavers between destiny and determination as he tries to choose between soldier and paramedic. His patient with amnesia is so damaged she is instinct only, and must slowly regain her connections to humanity via Adrian. Drug dealers, sleazy neighbors, and corrupt cops round out the cast.

Story - 4 stars
Good pacing. Resolution is wrapped up a bit too quickly, but battle descriptions are delicious.

Summary
“The Nightlife San Antonio” by Travis Luedke is a new offshoot of the The Nightlife series, and contains the same non-stop adventures full of sex and violence. There are echoes of “Blow”, and “Traffic” as the police, the feds, and Mexican gangs circle Adrian and his patient as they desperately try to figure out the mystery of who she is.

This is a stand alone read, although once you become familiar with the Nightlife world, you probably won't be able to stop at just one book. The $3.99 price isn't bad for 193 pages. Grad it today and enjoy the ride!

“I’m never going to be the good guy. She told me to accept who I am, and she was right.”

Oh yeah, I am on a vampire kick and The Nightlife San Antonio by Travis Luedke is next on the list. Some steamy romance is on the agenda and I’m sure there will be some danger from the Mexican Mafia.

Picking her up in the hospital parking lot, in a hospital gown, couldn’t be a warning to him could it? Add the fact she has amnesia and has no idea why someone is after her, wanting her dead, we are sure to have a dangerous adventure in store for us.

They both did everything they could to deny the immediate attraction, but I think we all know it is undeniable and, sooner or later, they will act upon it. Won’t they?

I couldn’t help but laugh as I read his thoughts. Not psychically, but through the written word. Travis Luedke adds humor to the danger, as does the fact that Adrian is a sociopath that is a germaphobe. He wants to be normal and tries to act the part, but slips up…a lot.

The Nightlife San Antonio by Travis Luedke is an action packed supernatural thriller filled with steamy sex, dangerous mafioso, and betrayal. What a fun ride it was and I look forward to reading more of the The NIghtlife series.

If you’re sick of all the usual suspects when it comes to vampire novels and the TV shows that have been all the rage these past few years then I seriously suggest you get your teeth sunk into Nightlife: San Antonio.

This is the latest novel from erotic vampire writer Travis Luedke. Although part of a series, San Antonio is a standalone novel and therefore can be picked up by newcomers and old readers alike.
The story tells of paramedic Adrian and his relationship with a strange woman whose life he saves from the Mexican mafia. The woman - who miraculously heals from her bullet wounds - turns to Adrian for help as she tries to piece together her lost memory. Adrian quickly realises that this beautiful woman is not as nuts as he first assumes and what follows is a deadly adventure to piece together who she really is, as well as stirring clear of those who wish her dead.

If you are not familiar with the series, be warned, it is filled with sex, blood and a lot of violence, making it very much an adult book.

San Antonio is a lot of fun like the others I have read in the series, has a lot of action and close to the knuckle dark humour. It also has a much denser plot that Luedke’s previous titles, which I really enjoyed. Not one for the faint hearted!

4.5 Drops Review

Nightlife San Antonio is both part of a series and a standalone. That is, I have not read any of the others in this series but loved every minute and never felt I was lost for not having read the others in the series. As most know, I love vampire stories, YA, NA, Adult, Erotic… I love vamps, BUT that does not mean all books are equal! The weaving of this story by Travis Leudke is brilliant. It’s a no nonsense, sharply written (no pun intended Winking smile ) story of a vampire that doesn’t remember who she is, or what landed her in the nearly dead state our hero Adrian finds her in.

I don’t don’t want to say too much as it really is an experience you have to take from start to finish. But… the writing is so vivid and ‘real’ that you can’t help but fall into the pages. Warning: There is sex, blood, and violence, but it’s also filled with lots of dark humour, powerful characters and plot, and driving intrigue. It’s a wile mix of gang bangers, mafia, cops, vampires, and so much more. While not for the faint of hear, or children, it is a great read and one I happily recommend to any who love fangs, sex, and fun.

I have to admit it. I am not a blood gore vampire fan but I have to say, this book may have turned me into one....at least enough to try on a couple more. What an amazing story and incredibly developed characters! Adrian, a solitary veteran, is just trying to be a normal guy, but in truth, he really isn't. He's a bit damaged and crazed from his time in the Middle East and more than a bit on the dark side. His persona meshes well with the beautiful woman woman he saves as an EMT. She is, indeed his match.. The sex scenes are incredible, steamy and memorable and the violence works well through the book. Travis Leudke's newest paranormal creation has it all... Sex, violence, blood crime, sex, violence, blood and so on as well as memorable brushes with organized crime and the law.
And, great plot points. There isn't a dull paragraph anywhere on any page in The Nightlife San Antonio and it is unquestionably a winner in its genre. What a read! It was totally addictive I'm ordering the others to catch up and taking them to the beach. A winner, for sure!

* A complimentary ecopy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.*

I am and will always be a fan of The Nightlife series. Travis has made it really fucking sexy to either be a vampire or a bloodslave. As you read this particular story it's definitely a turn on. Who wouldn't want to be ANY of these characters? Getting high off vampire venom and having some fangtastic sex? Fantasy at it's best!! I love it!!

The Nightlife: San Antonio is all about this hot alpha male, Adrian Faulkner, realizing who he is & exactly what he's meant for. He goes through most of the book thinking he'll never be 'that guy' to being 'that guy'. All it took was an amnesiac vampire drug Queen-pin to help him see it. With sex, blood, action and gore in my favorite city in the great state of Texas, it doesn't get any better than this. Especially when my panties are melting every other chapter. The only thing left, is for me to ask the author, will we see more of Sam & Adrian in the future? I'd sure hope so because they make one hell of a couple!!

Yes! That was one hell of a thrill ride!

Adrian is our hero, happy to be single, working as a paramedic. He's a true man. The way he thinks and the things he says are, to me, so typical of a single man. His character, his witty humor, his growth...love him! While working one night he saves the life of a gorgeous woman.

Our heroine is freakishly strong, crazy and wants Adrian. Trouble is the girl has secrets. She's on the run from the people who tried to kill her..and the law.

Together they run and fight. The thrills are so incredible,I want to see this story on the big screen. I want to see a woman actually attempt to replicate the climax. I want to see Adrian's growth, their chemistry, his reactions to her...everything.

Love it!

I'm hooked on this series. Travis Luedke takes a new and refreshing twist on vampires. And I've been a vampire fan for ages --the good, the bad and the beyond sexy kinds. Luedke manages to work all that in this story and make The Nightlife San Antonio raw, edgy, and thrilling with lots of sizzling sex scenes. I loved Adrian's quirks, and Samantha could be kick-ass yet vulnerable at the same time. Both seem like the unlikely couple to connect, but the chemistry between them is hot and spins out of control. It so works.

Hello Readers!

Today we are going to take a look at one of my favorite authors Travis Luedke. I've had the pleasure of reading all the books in the Nightlife Series and this spin off is so much fun! If you are as up to date as I am then you are going to have a great time jumping back into the rich world Travis has created for us.

We don't see Aaron or Michelle in this book but as much as I love them, I'm not even mad about it. We meet Adrian basically up to his elbows in blood and the action never stops! Adrian, an ex military man turn paramedic, is just trying to fit in and do the right thing. The poor guy has enough problems in his life, the last thing he needs is a woman who shouldn't have even lived screwing around with his life. The great thing about Travis's writing is how you learn about his new characters. I felt for Adrian even though there were moments I thought he was a complete dick. And the same goes for "The Queen". She literally takes over Adrian's life and you can feel her remorse over this being the only course of action she can really take.

A woman wakes up not knowing who she is or more importantly what she is, and the only thing she can do right in that moment is try to survive the best she can. I hate to give too much away but I have to mention how refreshing it was to read a supernatural book that didn't have our main characters fighting the cliché bigger supernatural. Believe it or not our baddies in this book are something most people in the world can relate to somehow. I don't think most people would ever have to actually face these particular baddies but we can relate to them in some way. It's fun to watch Adrian who almost shouldn't be someone we want to side with but we do! He has moment where he pulls at you against rational thought for the situation he is in.

As always with Travis's books the sex is hot, blush-worthy hot! The chemistry between the two main characters isn't what I would call natural but given the circumstances I could certainly call it believable and so much fun to read. This book is a steamy fast paced thrill ride that keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I can't wait to see where these two end up! Travis has done a wonderful job of bringing his readers something new and fun while bringing us back to a world we love. Is it too much to hope that Adrian and his Queen might one day run into Aaron and Michelle some where down the road?? We can always dream can't we? If you have already had the pleasure of stepping in the world the Nightlife Series brings us, then you have to pick up this new installment! While it's not a direct sequel, it is a great way to keep in touch with a world we all enjoy.

Happy Reading!!!

This is the first book in the Blood Slave series of the Nightlife books. It brings the relationship of the blood donor and vampire into stark relief in a sultry dance of ownership. A wonderful beginning to a new series.

Opening Scene:

Cockroaches left starbursts of red as they skittered across the slick blood splattered on the tile floor of what once was a nice little southwest hacienda.

The Review:

Adrian is trying to be normal. Ex army he is trying to leave the killing behind as he now tries to save lives as a paramedic. He finds himself drawn to a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and most likely to die. When he finds her strangely healed and begging for his help he goes against every instinct in his body and lands himself in the world of violence he tried desperately to escape. But with every bite the unknown woman gives him the more he wants it. Becoming a blood slave of the vampire known as La Reina ~ the Queen. With the police breathing down his neck and the mafia closing in, life in San Antonio has suddenly become dangerous.

Notable Scene:

As he reached the truck, he glanced around once more and considered calling hospital security. A renegade patient was their job, not his.
Without a single sound, she was suddenly there, right next to him, her pale blood-splattered hand on his arm – the gunshot victim, the woman who damn near died in the back of his ambulance. Her weak grip tugged at his arm. “I need your help. You have to help me.”

FTC Advisory: Travis Luedke Net Galley provided me with a copy of The Nightlife San Antonio by Travis Luedke. Published by Travis Luedke. Kindle Edition. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

Sexy and hilarious and yet dangerously addicting!! Oh my...Adrian has to be one of my favorites from Travis...I didn't think anyone would ever compare to Aaron from the other "Nightlife" series books...oh gosh, golly and goody gumdrops!! I just loved the quirky sociopath, and all his idiosyncrasies...lol...sexy and detached, Adrian just is such an alphas - alpha, like, doesn't give a darn what anyone thinks, he makes his own choices. They may be far from rational, but to him, it's what needs to be done!!

Oh and Sam, she is the spitfire from hell...and yes I mean it...hell...because hell have no fury like a woman, especially one who is just relearning who she is, and who is after her... Their relationship is crazy...sexy...and almost comical...and Adrian...hahaha..oh the things he says just made me laugh!!

"Adrian stood, and wiped the man’s blood off on his jeans, impatient to get to the truck for his Clorox wet wipes. Though exhilarating, the downside of wetwork was that it was so damn wet. Body fluids were disgusting."

Sam is completely addicting to read... and Adrian ...he is completely hooked on Sam, even when he doesn't want to be. Twists will keep you on your toes..Danger that will quicken your pulse...and one hell of a sexy Vamp that will drain you dry!! #one-click #sexyvamp #addictive #standalone #mustread

Travis is back at it again! Like Blood Slave, we are introduced to another standalone title in this series that I have personally enjoyed. There were some scenes I had to play different songs to because I felt a soundtrack going off in my head as I read. The sex! Yes, the sex I have come to expect when reading anything by Mr. Luedke, is hard as steel and written with a realness rarely seen in erotica. Or maybe 'cause it's not so flowery and dainty. Heh. No complaints here because it makes me wanna elevate my game.

Introducing EMT worker Adrian this time around as our male protagonist in our action hero vampire freaknik, a former soldier who lives a life with few to no emotional attachments. At least until he saves the life of the nameless woman who was shot down and left for dead by La Eme. Said nameless woman escapes from the hospital. From there, the two are bound to one another in blood and fate, because the Mexican Mafia is on their trail when they find out the drug duchess they thought they executed is still alive. From there, Adrian is forced to go back to a life that he thought he left behind when he left the military when our unnamed action heroine regains her memories.

This title, like the others, is gritty as hell with a touch of deadly hot steam. Another TKO from Luedke.

I have loved everyone of Travis Luedke's books I've read! He writes with a new fresh take on vampire's that anyone who loves Vampires would love to read. It is different than anything that I have read in the genre. This story is about Adrian Faulkner an Ex Army and now EMT. He is saving lives and trying not to think about the offer of being a legal badass for the government. He is trying to be a better person and leave his memories from Iraq behind him and on a call during his shift he has to help a gunshot victim. A woman suffering and will most likely die in the hospital. Then he finds her begging for his help in the parking lot of the hospital he goes against his first instant to take her back inside. He takes her to his apartment and FBI and police are trying to find out any information on her (She is La Reina = The Queen/ also Cartel Property) and they keep contacting him about what he knows. His life gets crazier now that Samantha is in it and made Adrian her blood slave. Samantha's first blood slave she actually cares about. Crazy action, Sexy as hell sexy scenes & Awesome plot so long story short check out this awesome book and find out what happens :) You wont regret it!

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Lovers of Paranormal*
This was the first book I've read from Travis Luedke. When I saw the R2R posting, I had to have it because I love any and all vampires (not those creatures in The Strain) & had to know more. I was a little sad when I realized that I wasn't starting the series from the beginning, but the disclaimer was true, saying that it was a standalone story.
I loved this story. Adrian, boderline sociopath, was a former Army soldier, who did two tours in Iraq who was discharged and decided to become an EMT to save people, instead of kill them (while feeling no guilt towards ending lives). La Reina, who we learn later is named Samantha, is a vampire, a mafiosa, a drug boss, straight-up bad-ass vampire, who happens to be suffering from amnesia after multiple gunshot wounds, which would have been fatal if she were a mere mortal. Their paths cross when Adrian is the EMT called to the crime scene and he is tasked with getting her to the hospital without her dying first. This story is fast-paced, full of action and great sex scenes, with a touch of romance thrown in. I will definitely be reading this series, I've already joined Mr.Luedke's mailing list.

I'm a little torn with this book. I equally liked it and disliked it. This is the first time I have read a PNR written by a man and it is definitely different. There are no hearts and rainbows. The best word to describe this book is gritty. The language is very blunt and you can tell it lacks a certain finesse most female writers use. But that being said, it isn't exactly crude just to the point.

In the book Adrian and Samantha, an amnesiac vampire, are on the run from the Mexican mafia. This is the part were I had problems. I expected a little more focus on the whole mafia story and less on Adrian's sociopathic personality. Maybe it is because the book is short, it's only 170 pages, but I felt like the author just used the mafia angle because it was easy. It just sort of sits there as a reason for them to be on the run. It doesn't really come into play until the end of the book. I'm not a fan of romance just for the sake of romance. I tend to like books that have some outside driving force that shape the characters' actions. While this sort of had it, there wasn't a strong enough focus on that for my liking.

While I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either. Overall I gave it two stars.

Adrian Faulkner is a lonely man living in San Antonio working as a paramedic on the night shift. He is detached from life, believing what an Army psychologist told him, he’s a sociopath. Preferring his quiet, lonely existence to having to speak to people.

On an ambulance call, he picks up a beautiful, Hispanic woman who has been shot seven times. Keeping her alive until they get to the hospital is his first priority. Yet, he can’t help but notice her beauty. Three days after saving her life, Adrian is driving home from the hospital when his Hispanic beauty is wandering in the parking lot. She spies him and asks him to take her somewhere and hide her. She’s in trouble. Against his better judgment, Adrian complies.

Not knowing where to take her, he brings her to his apartment where they begin to forge a relationship. He takes care of her and helps her to heal; she is exactly what he needs; a Vampire with no qualms about killing when she needs to. Perfect for a sociopath!

Thus begins a wild ride of cops, gang bangers, crooks, mafia and so much more. If you love action, vampires and intrigue, you’ll love this book.

Adrian and Sam sure know how to show each other appreciation on things, "okay, I'll give you a ride. Come on." She snuggled into his embrace with a grateful smile on her bloody lips as he pulled her back towards his truck. He reacted to her appreciation low in his groin." Personally I just liked the really naughty bits of this book, they were really well written and it's no secret that I am a fan of any naughty scene, "he looked pointedly down at his crotch. "Romantic or not, we got something going on. The hand speaks louder than words." Her hand, operating with a mind of it's own, had slid into his boxer shorts and stroked his semi-hard c***." Samantha that girl is like a fat kid on cake when she sees other women around her man, "Samantha turned on him with fire in her eyes, fanged bared and a closed fist in his face. "You're mine. Don't you ever forget it. Stay the hell away from these hoes!" He slipped his hands up inside her hospital gown, caught a handful of butt cheek and squeezed pulling her up against the erection trying to fight it's way out of his jeans."

The characters in this book have so much depth to them. Travis Luedke is an amazing author with such insight. It is a great book which shows us that everything is not as black and white as we may believe it to be. The main story is very different from his previous novels, something that worked in his favour for expanding the universe.
He is an ex-Iraq combatant, a sociopath who tries to save lives as a paramedic. She is a most wanted mafiosa vampire. He desires to save her at all cost, but has no idea where he got himself into. Want to know what happens between them, the mafia, cops, feds, two sexy lesbian neighbor’s and a crazy master? Grab a copy!
The sex scenes are very hot, the character development is really great, and the pace is tight. The author likes his hardboiled crime plots, but he handles them well, and they're a lot of fun to read.
If you love horror, romance, fantasy, suspense...it has it and you will not be let down after reading it.

I received this book in exchange from Lovers of Paranormal for an honest review.

This is no hearts and roses type of vampire romance. This masculine sizzling hot story is about Mexican Mafia and vampires with a lot of fierce sex and blood with a little bit of gore. An impassioned EMT, Adrian Faulkner resuscitated Samantha, whom had been a victim of Mexican Mafia shootout. Adrian can't keep her out of his mind. He meets this sulty beauty again in the hospital parking lot. He has to help her. From then on, this fiery couple go on a whirlwind ride to stay alive from the police and the Cartel. I can honestly said I really enjoy this scorching story. I could not put this book down. On a personal note: I want alittle riled about the police bashing of the SAPD. A wife of SAPD officer that was not my cup of tea. I highly recommendation this book. I need to read more books from this series. I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
