DISAPPOINTED!
I feel like I was duped and cheated of my time. I read this book in 2 days just to run into a rushed ending! Talkin bout "1 year later"? TF!!!
I wanted the outraged confrontation. Why go into detail about Jaquan's and Zacariah's infidelity rendezvous, just to dismiss how their relationship's officially ended with Kea and Derrick? I understand how a satyromaniac like Jaquan ended up with a nymphomaniac like Sheila, but I wanted closure on how that came to be when Kea called him out. I got more closure from Emory's failed marriage and she wasn't even a main character! So that's my first disappointment.
The Terry thing was an eye roller. I felt like I could've done without her little chapter because it was silly. Not silly because she's a lesbian, but because of the once again "small world" tactic. Speaking of silly, it's obnoxious how many times these characters "coincidently" keep running into one another at their public outings or had relations with this person who "coincidently" had prior relations with that person. Talk about abusing the expression,"It's a small world". My folks come from Lynchburg, VA, I can assure you Virginia is not as small as the story makes it out to be.
Something this book lacked was STD's and jobs. Of all the sexual encounters, from book 1-3, not ONCE did I read about someone pulling out a condom. HIV/STD's were without a doubt around in 2012, so I'm unsure as to why at some point somebody wasn't burnin (I get that it's just a story but my God...SELL ME!). And it seemed like the only one that had a job was Kea and Terry. Never did I read about Derrick, Zacariah, or even Sheila's "always home and always ready" self having a job to get to/come home from.
I can't say I was pleased with the climax of the book either. It would've made sense for someone to die or be permanently impaired from having a major artery severed or something, but whatever.
Such a let down.
