John "Monty" Montgomery is a workaholic. The oldest of the Montgomery children, he's been working by his father's side building the family hotel chain almost his entire life. His commitment to the business leaves no time for romance. But that's about to change.
Georgia Lennox has been fantasizing about Monty ever since she started her gig as handywoman at Montgomery Manor. She figures Monty is way out of her league, so she hasn't dared to act on her feelings—until he offers to help fill a volunteer shortage on her latest project, building houses for families in need.
Sparks fly as they spend time together, first on the job site, then off. But Georgia's not your typical frilly and feminine society girl. Hoping to find a way to fit in with the Montgomerys, she agrees to be made over by Monty's sister for an event. But if she lets her rough edges be smoothed away, will she be letting go of the very thing that attracted Monty in the first place?

Tamara Morgan is a contemporary comedy romance author. Ninety-nine percent of her information comes from television, movies, books, and all other pop culture activities that limit the amount of time she has to spend in polite company.
Her long-lived affinity for romance novels survived a B.A. degree in English Literature, after which time she discovered it was much more fun to create stories than analyze the life out of them. She lives with her husband and teen in the Inland Northwest, where the summers are hot, the winters are cold, and coffee is available on every street corner.
Very well written, however in my mind the story always trumps. And in this case it was just a bit too shallow of a story. The author created the opportunity to show the depth of human feelings that we all experience.
I did enjoyed a few of the chapters where the author brought out her humor, and want more of that in her writing, as she does create those situations in a way that is easy to believe.

Isn't this cover nice and sweet? Just inviting you just to read this book. Don't! Not only is the cover deceiving but so is the summary.
John Montgomery is nothing but a loner, nerd type who dates women because he is rich. His social skills are lacking but he apparently attends a bunch of parties...again because he's rich. Ok so the cover depicts a rich man. What it doesn't show is the heroine, Gerorgia Lennox, is a handyman/woman who works for the Montgomery family. She doesn't pretend to be the slightest bit feminine and doesn't prefer that lifestyle. She claims to be attracted to John but there's not much explanation here as to why...other than he is rich. Georgia asks him for some assistance in helping her build homes for the needy and John, reluctantly, agrees.
From the description of the book, seems ok. However, this book is nothing but erotic fiction with a large case of foul language and nasty words for body parts. There is no romance here, no sweet love story.
Once I hit a few strong curse words, I skimmed the book to find that the characters were only interested in hooking up and there wasn't anything else to this book. I even stopped skimming less than half way.
Overall, skip this book if you are looking for a clean or cleaner romance. Or even romance. Won't find any here. The characters weren't even likable. Cannot recommend.
Content: strong language, strong sexual language

Tamara Morgan comes back with a bang in her Montgomery Manor series with Because I Can. We finally get to see a lot more of oldest brother John (Monty) Montgomery III and find out that there is so much more to him than meets the eye. I don’t know why I’m surprised because author Tamara Morgan always writes complex characters and throws them into the most intriguing situations. What I loved most about this book is that it takes place mostly in and around the manor so we get to see all the characters from the first two books in addition to getting a very entertaining, highly amusing, and of course sexy love story. Monty Montgomery has always been the reliable one, the steady one; the one everyone can count on and while he doesn’t mind hard work after overhearing a conversation he hates that people see him as monotonous and boring. He freely admits he hasn’t had much of a life outside of work; that he has a hard time finding balance but he believes in the work he does as head of the Montgomery Charitable Foundation and so he continues to work hard to ensure that work continues to go on. Georgia Lennox is no ordinary woman; she’s a handywoman. Yep, you read that right. Georgia can fix almost anything and in addition she’s acquired her contractor’s license so she can supervise a project to build homes for the needy. Georgia is a very capable woman and she finds it hard to accept help with anything including a special problem she has sexually. These are two very different people from two very different worlds but they complement each other so well. Georgia grounds Monty and helps him understand how to enjoy life and Monty proves time and time again that he is someone Georgia can rely on and trust. He also helps her to understand that accepting help isn’t a sign of weakness. I loved watching them fall in love, loved the fact that Monty was determined to show Georgia that great sex takes time, patience, and exploration, and loved that Georgia quickly saw a very different side of Monty; a side he’s never shown to anyone else. As I write this review I’m thinking back on this book and how often it made me smile, made me laugh, and made my heart flutter with the love and admiration that was so evident between these two. Because I Can is another exceptional story from author Tamara Morgan and if you aren’t reading this author, you are missing out on some amazing storytelling.
This story came at such a right time that it took me by surprise. And I do like surprises so it was pleasant. I was already looking forward to workaholic John ‘Monty’ Montgomery the Third and Montgomery Manor’s skilled handywoman Georgia Lennox, but this was so much better than I expected. First off, Monty was the epitome of a good hero, hell, a perfect hero. The kind of hero I’d want all my heroines to end up with, the kind of hero I’d love to read in many upcoming books, over and over again.
And this is all not because he was perfect perfect. But because he tried so hard to be perfect for his loved ones and he managed it so successfully for all their sakes but unfortunately also at the expanse of his own freedom and happiness. And the sad part was, the part that endeared him to me the most and made me wish to be able to tackle a Lennox in order to have him to myself, was that he took it all with calm resignation. I had no idea I could root for a fictional man this much to get his own happiness before. I root for all my heroes, but with Monty I wanted to get inside the book and forcefully extract him from the dark pit, sadly, he made his life become. And Georgia..She sure was a force to be reckoned with. She was not delicate society lady, she was smart and strong and yet surprisingly self conscious when it came to her own value as a woman. I feel so bad when women feel this way about themselves. There were a lot of messages in this story if you’re at the right time reading it. And I was. I don’t know, maybe I was at such a point in my life, or about to get sick so my emotional level was way up, but I loved this book. Simply loved it. I loved everything about it, from the hero and heroine’s own struggles and stubbornness to their families’ relentless intrusion for the sake of love. I can’t express it in more elaborate ways. It’s as simple as that, me loving this story greatly.
Montgomery Manor series is one I recommend to anyone who not only looks for a good romance series in general, but also to those who like stories about families who’re a handful and real in ways that counts in your favorite romances. I can’t wait for the next book. In fact, I’m contemplating how much more it can go on, how many more books left till I’ll be so sad to see it over that I’ll need a reread right away for a reunion.
“Monty” runs the family hotel business and the family’s charitable giving. He likes the second more than the first, but he knows he’s expected to do both, and he works hard to live up to his father’s expectations. That means he’s a little boring and he’s not very good at all at socializing. He’s a very serious man, and he doesn’t think that’s a bad thing.
Georgia is the handywoman on the Montgomery estate. She stronger and more capable than Monty and most other men in the world. She succeeds in a world very few women are part of. Working for the Montgomerys and others around town leaves her with the money and time to manage the local home building charity. She’s stubborn and surrounded by three overprotective brothers, but she’s got a crush on Monty.
When Monty wants to break out of his shell a bit, he agrees to help out on Georgia’s latest homebuilding project. The more they see of each other the more they like each other. Maybe they have more in common than it first appears?
I can’t sing Georgia’s praises enough. I think she’s the more unique heroine I’ve read all year and I loved her! She’s tough and she’s capable and she’s intelligent. And none of this is ever an issue with Monty. He’s not put off by her ways or her non-polished looks. This was so refreshing to read!
There is a lot of humor in this book, too. It had me grinning throughout the story. Monty is turned on by Georgia’s boots, Georgia’s brothers are interfering, and Monty practicing dirty talk by recording himself so he can self-critique – you know that doesn’t end well!
The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the book was Monty’s family, especially his sister who swept in and steamrolled Georgia into a makeover – even if it was something Georgia was eventually ok with. However, that was a small piece of the whole story, and it was totally made up by the strength of every other piece.
I highly recommend this story. It’s going on my Best of 2014 list! Do you have any stories with unusual heroines to recommend?
I was almost positive that Monty would be my least favorite hero from this series but he completely won me over with his sweet, awkward but focused ways.
I loved how this was not your typical millionaire hottie making the rapid orgasms roll out in rapid succession. Things don't go perfect for Monty and Georgia and I loved it! I LOVED it! Neither is Georgia an ugly duckling waiting to be transformed. She isn't beautiful, or even very pretty but she's smart, determined and kind and Monty completely, unashamedly adores her for it. (& ok - maybe her legs too :-)) They are absolutely perfect for each other.
As in every book in this series Daddy Montgomery makes things difficult for his children. I don't like him but I softened a little towards him in book #2, When I Fall. I thought he may have learned a lesson or two but not so much. I guess the one thing that did perturb me was just how mean he was and then somehow excused for it because he loves Monty. Everyone kind of looked at Monty as if he was the one being cruel. His sister pissed me off too. Come on kids - you've all been subject to that type of control and manipulation from your dad - stand up for each other. (like Georgie's wacky "Testosterone Trio" of brothers does). I think I actually got overly emanational about this because of how much I loved and grew overprotective of Monty lol
The Rebound Girl still holds a special place as my favorite Tamara Morgan book, but this is a close second and my favorite of the series. This is a really sweet, funny awkward, adorable (awkdorable?) romance that's messy and perfect.
Before I really jump into this review, I need to apologize to Carina Press - I received a copy of this amazing book (via Netgalley) MONTHS ago and for a variety of reasons am just now reviewing it. This is easily one of the best books I have read in 2015, and I'm really wondering why I took so flipping long to read this one!
Now, let's get into the review!!
I didn't realize that Because I Can was part of a series, but it is indeed the third book in a series that surrounds Montgomery Manor, and the Montgomery Brothers of Connecticut. Because I Can focusing on John "Monty" Montgomery, the oldest of the three brothers. And I have to admit, I loved him from the beginning! (As he eavesdrops on "the help" and hears the handy-woman talking about him!) And Georgia? The leading lady here is just hilarious! First she is talking to her friend about her attraction to Monty, and then she totally misunderstands him and it leads to one of the funniest moments I've read all year!! It was absolutely hilarious - and yet? Endearing.
Georgia and Monty have a fairly realistic courtship in this one, with their unique personalities and very different lifestyles. I loved watching them slowly fall in love - it was a quick infatuation, but a love story that was very believable!
If you're a fan of contemporary romance? I definitely recommend giving this one a try!
One of the Montgomery Manor stories, it focuses on John, the workaholic son, and the handywoman, Georgia Lennox, only girl of the Lennox clan of four children. She's always competing, especially against her over-protective brothers and the fear that people will think her less-than-successful if she dares of ask for help with her volunteer activities building houses for others when she isn't working at the Manor. John always has his nose to the proverbial grindstone, both managing the hotels his family owns and the foundation that is where his heart is.
How each of them find each other and are forced to take stock and make changes in their lives is both interesting and affecting. John takes the more decisive route, shocking everyone. But what Georgia endures at the hands of John's sister, Jenna, is no less exciting and also a bit more fun. If you're looking for a fun read to escape the overheated demands of the season, this book could be it.
I love this series, it gets better and better with each book and Monty has stolen my heart with his bluntness that he sometimes has, "well, if it's not too late to take you up on your offer, I'd like to be the first man to make you experience and orgasm." A drunk Georgia is a horny and brutally honest Georgia, "they also did horrific things to the hair on other parts of my body, but I think maybe we should wait until your sister leaves to look at those ones." Honestly I think these two are perfect for each other and Monty knows how to always get back on his woman's good side, "goddammit, Monty. You're doing it again. You're not supposed to be nice and apologetic when I'm mad at you. it only makes things worse." I can't wait for the next book in the series.
An enjoyable read, representing the contemporary romance genre at its best. The unconventional heroine is relatable and interesting; many readers should empathize with her dedication to learning a craft (construction) and taking pride in her hard work and devotion to a good cause. Class issues in the book are dealt with intelligently. The hero's behavior seems realistic as well. The humor isn't cruel, and the characters who are in conflict with the heroine are presented as three-dimensional people. As a librarian I'd recommend this novel to newcomers to the romance genre or readers seeking a change from the romance sub-genres they usually read. I'll seek out more of Tamara Morgan's work.
Very sweet story about Monty and Georgia. Monty is the oldest Montgomery and very uptight and reserved. Georgia is an outgoing woman working in a man's world of construction and maintainence. Definitely a romance where opposites attract and bring out the best in each other!
I honestly liked it at first but I don't know, I got bored in the middle and made me used TTS just to finish the story. Maybe because of Georgia and her super-overprotective brothers.
