London, 1889.

Lady Jessica McAlpin is the commander of The Black Diamonds, the Great British Empire's covert monster-hunting division.

With her crew of criminals, misfits and desperadoes, Lady Jessica soars above the land in the airship HMS Zephyr, tracking down the diabolical foes of the Empire.

Episode I - Heart of the Empire

When rumors surface of a vampyre nest in the heart of the Capital, Lady Jessica and her companions are sent to investigate. What they discover is more terrible than their worst imaginings, leaving them shaken, scarred and in some instances changed forever.

Episode II - Troubling Times

The Black Diamonds are called to investigate a strange haunting at Priory Manor, the country estate of Major Carruthers. They uncover intrigue, danger and mystery: not least the fact the Major is being plagued by the ghost of himself...

Episode III - Dark Waters

When a series of mysterious deaths are reported in the ponds of Hampstead Heath, Lady Jessica and her companions are sent to investigate. Is it the work of a malevolent water spirit, said to haunt the depths? Or does an even darker trail lead to the answer to the mystery, one which leads all the way to the heart of the Empire itself?

Lady Jessica Monster Hunter is presented as a series of action and character driven steampunk adventures featuring the trials, tribulations and triumphs of The Black Diamonds.

Short in length, each episode is designed to be standalone: though they are linked by an overall story arc which will develop as the 'season' progresses.

Lady Jessica will return in Episode 4: Tooth and Claw

I have lived in Edinburgh all my life, but I have spent at least one day in every continent on the planet. Unless Antarctica's a continent. I've not been there.

I've been fascinated by stories ever since I can remember. I recall paging through books on Greek mythology and Scottish legends when I was a boy and being fascinated by the magical otherness of them all.

Back in the mists of time, I wrote sci-fi short stories, several of which were published in (long defunct) anthologies and fanzines. I won third prize for something to do with creative writing when I was at school.

After years in the wilderness of the real world, I've recently returned to writing. It feels like coming home.

I am addicted to custard creams, still have dreams of being in a band, and have finally learned to stop stressing about the matching lengths of my sideburns.

I still live in Edinburgh. It inspires me.

Even if I end up living in Antarctica, it always will.

Why haven’t more people read these books?

“Lady Jessica, Monster Hunter”, is jolly good fun! Keith Dumble has written a delightful series of steampunk novella adventures with a wonderful cast of misfit characters. I purchased all 3 as a set and devoured them one after the other.

For a gentle introduction into the steampunk genre (this was my first) then try these, you won’t be disappointed.
