Sui Ishida (石田スイ, Ishida Sui), born December 28, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist
In 2010 he won the Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award with Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種, Tōkyō Kushu). In March 2011, the same oneshot was published in the 2nd Issue of Miracle Jump. And later in September 2011, Tokyo Ghoul started as a series in Weekly Young Jump 2011-41 Issue. In December 2011, he made another oneshot about Rize that was published in December 2011 in Miracle Jump 6th Issue, which was later collected in the 6th volume of Tokyo Ghoul.
In 2013, he also started Tokyo Ghoul: Jack in the digital magazine Jump LIVE.

Sui Ishida is his penname; nobody knows his real name or what he looks like.

This was so much better than the last volume! I did struggle with it at first, but it really started to build & get exciting midway through. I’m wondering how big the cast is going to be by the end of this series. I swear we add on 1-2 characters with each volume.

Me encantaron los nuevos personajes que incluyó en este tomo y muero por ver qué le deparará a Kaneki ahora con semejante revelación.
Me interesa mucho las respuestas que se darán de aquí en adelante. Tengo mucho hype.

i’m sad about finishing this volume because i think it’s going to be a little while before i can get my hands on the rest of the physicals for this series. damn you sui ishida and your plot twist/cliffhanger endings. (also, thank you.)

the only thing i will criticize about this series at this point is that there are just waaay too many character introductions in each volume. i swear there are at least 4-5 new characters introduced each time. i’ve already made peace with the fact that i can barely remember anyone’s name outside of our main cast of characters. that said, i’m glad for the little profiles at the beginning of the volumes because lord knows i need them to keep up with the insane number of characters in this series

Naki on the cover, I like this crazy little bastard anyway! He is so dense sometimes it's totally cute~

Plot-wise, not very much happens in this volume, we see more of the creepy Dr. Kano and his experiment to mix human with Ghoul, we see more of Kaneki and his friend, we see a bit more of what the Agiri Tree members and the CCG investigators are up to, that's it. Characters' interactions are great.

Kaneki has officially snapped (rightfully so) and I’m here for it. Maintaining any semblance of humanity after all he’s been through is an admirable feat in itself. Also, I’m simultaneously overjoyed and nervous about Hide’s return; while I love him and his friendship with Kaneki, the circumstances with Hide and the doves is…. less than ideal. The fights were also really awesome in this volume, everything keeps getting better!!

*ATTENZIONE SPOILERS*
Almeno Naki, il piagnone, è più attivo. Poi piange ok ma almeno anticipa l'attacco del gruppo di Ken. Nell'anime viene assaltato il furgone dove c'è Naki mentre nel manga entrambi i gruppi puntano all'infermiera. Nell'anime Ken è diventato parte di Aogiri mentre qui ha ancora i suoi compagni. Nell'anime Naki se ricordo bene non sa che è Ken ad aver ucciso Yamori mentre qui si.
Nell'anime ho odiato Naki a morte tra piagnucolamento e il continuo Aniki ripetitivo per la perdita di Yamori. Ora capisco anche perchè Naki non sa scrivere Yamori in katakana. Ayato nel manga dichiara che Naki non ha un minimo di studi.
Comunque nell'anime poi non sono andata avanti quindi ora commenterò solo il volume. Madame A è proprio brutta. Meglio mascherata con occhiali e parrucca. (La cosa più sconvolgente è che tutti bruttoni anno il compleanno a maggio e sono del toro. Uffa ma dai).
Tsukiyama è stato un po' rivalutato da me. Facciamo un 50-50 infondo si vuole mangiare ancora Ken.
E Ken in allenamento ... LOVE
White Ken è un sacco meglio e preferisco pure Ken con i soliti invece che con Aogiri come nell'anime.
A parte quello finalmente Ken, mentre il resto combatte contro Shiro e Kuro con tanto di intromissione di Aogiri, trova Kano il quale gli svela che il tutto, Aogiri, ha avuto inizio tramite Yoshimura. E qui si interessante la cosa. Oltre all'arrivo di Yomo sul finire che si prende Rize.

Oh my goodness!! What is it with these endings?!

So this volume introduces Naki - a follower and dare I say fan of the late Yamori. He's quite sporadic and manic but I think at heart, he is quite the cinnamon roll - he is very emotional and believe he may end up joining Kaneki's team...

Elsewhere, Kaneki, along with Shuu and Banjo are on the hunt for Dr Kano but so are the Aogiri Tree members! Kaneki comes face to face with Shachi - the (former?) 6th ward leader and they enter quite the battle (cue me trying to comprehend exactly what is going on in these scenes).

Shinohara and Suzuya team up and track down the coffee shop where Kaneki used to work - they have twigged that the Binge Eater (Rize) was killed in the scaffold incident which explains why there hasn't been any mass killings of late and their organs transplanted into Kaneki. They are also looking into the whereabouts of Dr Kano (a former CCG medical examiner) and hope Kaneki will lead them to him.

Shiro and Kuro are two hybrid ghoul twin girls (the same as Kaneki) who refer to Dr Kano as "Father" and do his bidding. Dr Kano is using Rize to create more hybrids but exactly why...we don't fully know yet. The two twins are about to battle Suzuya (who used to be their classmate) whilst Kaneki and Shachi once again engage in battle which results in the centipede coming out!!! (It is a terrifying thing!)

So lots of things happening and I can't wait for the next installment!

At this point, let's talk about the series as a whole. Why am I being so stingy with the stars? Back in my review of volume 4, I mentioned "shonen escalation", which is my term for how shonen series have to keep upping the stakes of conflict with weirder villains or more over the top combat. I find it a tedious replacement for real character and plot development. I feel that this series is falling into that pattern, especially compared to Parasyte, which dealt with the same themes in a more sophisticated way. I'm going to read Volume 11 and see if it can keep my interest, otherwise the series might just bore me, honestly.

Definitely an improvement from the previous volume! The reveal of unexpected twists are greatly delivered. I really like this volume because of the plot progression and the consistency of the artwork. It's so on point! Everything is on point in this volume. I commend the mangaka!

This installment is more action driven compared to the previous volume. It involves the Commission of Counter Ghoul with Ken amd his friends. I look forward to see what else is to come as the series only has four volumes left. Thanks!

I wasn't a fan of the chats in between chapters. It made the flow of the story awkward, and the fighting sequences still feel confusing as hell sometimes. But story-wise, things are still progressing interestingly, and it's great to see Kaneki's abilities grow and tweak.

How is it possible that the story keeps getting better and better?
I love the character developments and above all I love Kaneki.

Even though he went through so much, he still managed to maintain his humanity (maybe not all of it; but some part of it). He still has a soft spot for his friends and wants to protect them at all costs.
I know that everything is going down hill from this volume. And to be honest I’m not ready yet. I don’t want to see Kaneki lose what little humanity he has left.

This makes me wonder though, why couldn’t the anime be as good as the manga? I’m really curious as to why they decided to change the whole plot in the anime.
The manga is so beautifully written and the art style is mesmerizing and beautiful.


What breaks my heart though, is the fact that Kaneki had to leave Anteiku and his friends behind.
I mean he did it so he could become stronger in order to protect them. But couldn’t he stand by their side and do it? Did he have to leave?


Also here are some things that make no sense to me:

•What do they feed the ghouls in the prison? Humans?

•why weren’t the scientists able to make a potion in order to make ghouls human? Couldn’t they just make something that balances their RC cells so they didn’t have to eat humans?

•why do they imprison ghouls at all? If their whole goal is to kill them, why imprison them?


I’m genuinely curious because these things make no sense to me.

Tokyo Ghoul continues to be a crazy rush of "who's going to fight who" next. It's basically, at this point, a royal rumble match. So many damn groups doing their own things that when they clash people start fighting and deaths start to come out of nowhere.

So Kankei is leading his own group of Ghouls to track down the doctor who made him. Mostly to find out why he did what he did. However, of course, ghouls are getting in his way. Especially one who's extremely powerful, the leader of ward 6, and Ken pushes himself to the limits. On top of that the investigators come into play at the end and all hell breaks loose.

Good: The art actually improved here. The fight scenes were easy to follow (and very brutal) on top of that the new Kankei is scary. The ending truly brings this up almost a full star because of it's sudden change. I also thought the pacing was perfect, never boring, and well written.

Bad: Is it me or do the investigators just know when to come in at the worst possible moment? It seems a clutch at this point.

Overall great stuff. I'm really loving the 2nd half of the manga. It's much stronger than the 2nd anime series by far and just overall a blast. A easy 4 out of 5.

As Ken continues his search for Dr Kano, he comes across Madame A and yes he takes down her underlings and finds out about the location of Dr Kano and also he has to battle Shachi and again when he goes into the lair/real estate of Dr Kano and finds him battles Shachi again and its an all out war and who will win? What will Ken find that changes his perspective on everything? And will the Ghoul investigators also come and find Ken and more revelations! This volume was a blast to read!

It's been awhile since I've read the last volume, and I'm so happy to come back to the world of ghouls! Kaneki continues to seek out the answers to Rize's past and comes across more than he could have anticipated! This one is filled with plenty of action and plenty of my favorite character, Kaneki ❤️
