After finishing book 1 and discovering that there was another one to follow I knew I had to download it - it's only currently available on Kindle.

Charlotte is still trying to get over the murders of her classmates and the discovery that she was being used by John. A lesson she had to learn the hard way, but even so she still wants to try and help people, but she has to decide whether to follow the rules and resist her visions or if she should let them come and try to change the future. Then she sees a vision of a grisly double homicide and things start getting complicated, especially when the new girl at school finds out about Charlotte's powers and reveals some unusual gifts of her own.

As the girls dig further into the future and try to figure out just who is behind the murders things start to get more and more complicated and soon one of them may be in just as much trouble.

Again these books are not my usual taste in books, the mere mention of a homicide let alone a gruesome one would have me running a mile, but I love Pike's writing and wanted to know what happened to Charlotte next so I got stuck in.

It was quite gory in places and very violent, in fact I jumped in my seat a few times but I did figure out who was responsible as soon as the character was introduced - it was so obvious to me, so instead of being surprised by the revelation I was still waiting for them to attack again, I knew more would come and man I was not wrong. This took a seriously creepy turn but yet I still had to keep reading.

I have to admit that after reading this book I did have nightmares that night but I am a wimp so it's only to be expected I suppose. I'm still glad I read it, as it was such a gripping read, Pike does it so well, a true horror master - if you can get someone so involved they physically can't turn away from the story!

I am even hoping that there will be a third book in the series, I can't help it - I want more. (I think I'm mad) :)

I enjoyed this sequel, even if it was hard to read just like (and for the same reasons that) it was hard to read Sleep No More. I still like Charlotte’s character, even if (and maybe because) she keeps making mistakes. Because maybe tragedy and grief affect our judgment long after. Because maybe things appear different in writing than they do in real life. This story reminded me that people aren’t supposed to heal immediately. That putting yourself back together takes a lot of effort and energy and time. And ever afterwards, even when the feeling of evil is gone, the scars remain.

I also enjoyed watching Charlotte become friends with Sophie after parting with Linden because it matches so many of my experiences. I’ve avoided having friends before; I know what it is to be alone, to have no close friends, to be essentially invisible in a school. I know what it’s like to have a true friend for the first time ever. I know what it’s like to get close to someone, loose them for whatever reason, and have no one else. I’ve experienced that emptiness of missing someone, and so I was happy for her.

It was fun to learn more about Charlotte’s abilities as an oracle without the corrupting influence of Smith and about Sophie’s life of saving others with sorcery. A nice continuation of Charlotte's story!

amazing second book

Charlotte's story is so unique and interesting. I absolutely love being in her world ~ so I was absolutely giddy when I noticed there was a book 2. there didn't have to be a book 2, but I love that there is!! (and authors note says third book in 2015!!! YAY!)

the story is really well done. even though I knew the end and the twist, I also knew why I did but others didn't. sometimes it's tough to let go of an assumption.

the addition of Sophie is just awesome! she is just so kick-butt I can't wait to see what else she can do.

I'll definitely be all over book 3 and I'll be adding this author's other books on my TBR list!

Charlotte, an Oracle, and Sophie, a Sorceress, meet with and life and death situations. There isn't much that these two won't do for one another, including risk their own lives.

Meet Daphne, a disturbed little 10 year old girl whose parents keep her locked away. Meet

Meet Linden, the love of Charlotte's life that she is just too afraid to involve in her life.

And don't forget Charlotte's aunt Sierra and Charlotte's wheelchair bound mother. Add a few more characters and tons of action and even some out-and-out evil and you get Sleep of Death.

Recommendation: I can't think of a reason not to recommend this one!

I hope there will be more in this series. I love the idea of the oracle and I cant wait to learn more. I also love how the writer is handling the relationships in the story. Its not always a happily ever after everything will be alright story. Things are not always what they seem.

Really fascinating!
Charlotte isn't terribly quick on the uptake, and she doesn't really have an eye for details... Apart from those which she is deliberately scanning for when she revisits her visions.
But apart from that, she really doesn't observe a whole lot of her surroundings, which kind of seems like a bit of a drawback for an oracle... But luckily we are introduced to Sophie, who does fill in the gaps that Charlotte is missing.
The two of them make quite a team!!

I loved this sequel more. Not that i didnt like or enjoy this first one but this one is much better. There are some parts I wanted to strangle Charlotte in, and i hated the ending because i thought it's the final book but it isn't. There will be a third book in 2015. And i'm sooo excited for it to be out (o.o).

Ugh YES. I'm so glad that this wasn't one of those sequels that was just a sequel written to continue the series. There was so much to explore in this book, and it was executed wonderfully. I cannot wait for the third book in this series! Magic, mystery, and murder. My cup of tea.

I want more Sophie and Charlotte! Again, I love this book and learning with Charlotte what it means to be an Oracle and what she can do. However, she is so lucky she met Sophie since she was a bit dense in regards to the vision she was trying to prevent in this book.
