Ma Shaa Allah. May Allah reward Musa Furber and bestow increased blessings upon Imam An-Nawawi! I had the honor of reading the manuscript of this book, given to me by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Kadi, when I lived in Saudi Arabia. While the manuscript was good, I was very impressed with the final version--this book is well-written in clear English prose--an irreplacable treasure for English speaking Muslims. There need to be more classical Islamic works well-translated into English, and both the translation and the notes are invaluable. Many copies of this work should be in all of our masajid and Islamic centers in the US and wherever English speaking Muslims reside and strive to practice our beautiful Deen.

Must have in every Muslim's library, especially if you are a student of the Quran. I greatly appreciated the extensive references and appendices at the end which come in handy for future rereads and further readings. May Allah bless Sheikh Musa Furber and Imam an-Nawawi for their services to the Dīn.

This is the only book that you will need that details the adab that one should have towards the Qur'an. It approaches the issue from almost every conceivable angle. Musa Furber has done a tremendous service to the English speaking world.

Adab Kepada Al-Quran

I had the privilege of learning this book at the hands of the translator and inheritor of authorisation to teach this book, when he conducted a course in Singapore. Learning the ettiquettes of the Qur'an had the effect of not only teaching me how to respect it properly, it also lifted my spirits in discovering the richness generosity of the benefits of cultivating a relationship with the book.

Bacaan Ramadan yang habisnya di bulan Syawal.

What i learn:
• The best among you is one who learns the Quran and teaches it (Bukhari; Muslim)
• Actions are only valued according to their intentions
• Adab menjadi guru Quran - must refrain oneself from boasting because of the many people inder his tutelage. Must listen attentively only to the reciter. Should be in the state of ritual purity and seated facing the qibla.
• Should maintain consistency in recitation and perform often
• Waktu terbaik to recite adalah at night, primarily during orayer at night - solitude
• Take precaution to avoid forgetting the Quran or even part of it, and not put oneself at risk of forgetting it
• Dalam hadas besar, unlawful to recite Quran whether a verse or less. Permissible to peruse in the hearts without uttering it
•Recommended for reciter who is not praying to recite facing qibla
• Recite slowly is recommended for the sake of understanding and has far greater impact to the heart
• Better to recite in order. Contoh of in solat you read first rakaat Al Kafirun, second rakaat surah after Al Kafiruun contohnya Al Ikhlas
• Recite in group is recommended - avoid laughing, clamor, talking, fidget with hands and look at things besides the Quran
• Recite with raised voice - if does not fear ostentation (sombong)
• Reading with complete meaning - jangan stop at verse or words yang separuh jalan
• Offensive to read while rukuk, sujud, duduk tahiyat, masa buang air, semasa mamai, semasa imam baca khutbah.
• If tengah baca then menguap, sambung lepas habis menguap
• If recite while walking then bertembung orang lain, recommended to stop recite and greet that person
• Recommended time to recite - last half of night, between sunset and nightfall prayer, and after morning prayer
• When finish one cycle, recommended to begin the next immediately after it
• Non Muslims should not be prevented from listening, but prevented to touch the text of the Quran
• Bulan² baik baca Quran - Ramadan, first 10 days of Zulhijah, Day of Arafah
• Should be especially observant in reciting Surah Yasin, Al Mulk, Al Ikhlas, Al Falaq, An Nas and Ayatul Kursi
• Recommended to recite Al Kahf on friday, and also Al Imran and Surah Hud on friday
• Recommended to recite Ayatul Kursi frequently and before sleep
• Recommended to recite Al Falaq and An Nas after each prayer
• If visting someone who is sick, recommended to recite Al Fatihah, Al Ikhlas, Al Falaq, An Nas then blow in one's hands and wipe on the ill person's body
• Unlawful to use the Quran as headrest
• Hadas kecil, cannot touch or carry Quran
• If in ritually impure, umlawful to touch the Quran of the amount of actual Quran is greater than the commentary

It is established in Sahih Musilm, that Tamim al-Dari Stated, The Messenger of God (SAW) said, “Religion is sincerity.” We said, “To Whom” He said, “To God, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims, and their common folk.” Imam Nawawi, May Allah have mercy on his soul was the embodiment of all these principles.
Imam Nawawi, May Allah have mercy on him, writes in the introduction of this book that I wanted to write a book that is to the point and short. He wanted the readers to memorize the contents of the book, so he kept the content of the books short and sweet. There was no distraction, always on point. His style of writing shorter chapters gives the reader the pleasure of consuming most of the content with a pleasure. Sheikh Musa Furber (May Allah bless him), kept the same spirit of the book, he has made a tremendous effort of keeping it in simple plain English for the reader. This book needs to be a must read for every Muslim to learn the Adhab that is required for handling the Holy Quran. It addresses most of the question that user might come across with handling of Quran. Topics like,

- How to Study the Quran
-Adhab for Quran
-Adhab for the Quran Teacher
-Weeping during recitation
-Humility
-Repeating a verse in your prayer
- Importance of Retaining the Quran

I highly recommend that multiple copies of this work should be available in every Masjid and every madrasah.

Peace to all. I have browsed the Arabic version, read the Malay translation and currently going through this translation by Shaykh Musa Furber. I found that this version explains more clearly the Arabic meaning of the book and it encompasses the essence and spirit of the original. It is indeed a required reading for those who seek to be more sensitive and discerning when reading the Qur'an; how to prepare oneself to read and how to prepare oneself as a reader of the Qur'an. The book is indeed clear and informative. Alhamdulillah.

A book I often find myself going back Alhamdulilah when I feel the need to remind myself of the bond I should have with the Quran and am in need of strengthening that bond. The translation is easy to follow yet concise and uses an appropriate level of vocabulary ( doesn't 'dumb down' the content, something I find most islamic translations do).
