William Walker Atkinson (December 5, 1862 – November 22, 1932) was an attorney, merchant, publisher, and author, as well as an occultist and an American pioneer of the New Thought movement. He is also known to have been the author of the pseudonymous works attributed to Theron Q. Dumont, Swami Panchadasi and Yogi Ramacharaka and others.

Due in part to Atkinson's intense personal secrecy and extensive use of pseudonyms, he is now largely forgotten, despite having obtained mention in past editions of Who's Who in America, Religious Leaders of America, and several similar publications—and having written more than 100 books in the last 30 years of his life. His works have remained in print more or less continuously since 1900.

William Walker Atkinson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 5, 1862, to William and Emma Atkinson. He began his working life as a grocer at 15 years old, probably helping his father. He married Margret Foster Black of Beverly, New Jersey, in October 1889, and they had two children. The first probably died young. The second later married and had two daughters.

Atkinson pursued a business career from 1882 onwards and in 1894 he was admitted as an attorney to the Bar of Pennsylvania. While he gained much material success in his profession as a lawyer, the stress and over-strain eventually took its toll, and during this time he experienced a complete physical and mental breakdown, and financial disaster. He looked for healing and in the late 1880s he found it with New Thought, later attributing the restoration of his health, mental vigor and material prosperity to the application of the principles of New Thought.

Some time after his healing, Atkinson began to write articles on the truths he felt he had discovered, which were then known as Mental Science. In 1889, an article by him entitled "A Mental Science Catechism," appeared in Charles Fillmore's new periodical, Modern Thought.

By the early 1890s Chicago had become a major centre for New Thought, mainly through the work of Emma Curtis Hopkins, and Atkinson decided to move there. Once in the city, he became an active promoter of the movement as an editor and author. He was responsible for publishing the magazines Suggestion (1900–1901), New Thought (1901–1905) and Advanced Thought (1906–1916).

In 1900 Atkinson worked as an associate editor of Suggestion, a New Thought Journal, and wrote his probable first book, Thought-Force in Business and Everyday Life, being a series of lessons in personal magnetism, psychic influence, thought-force, concentration, will-power, and practical mental science.

He then met Sydney Flower, a well-known New Thought publisher and businessman, and teamed up with him. In December, 1901 he assumed editorship of Flower's popular New Thought magazine, a post which he held until 1905. During these years he built for himself an enduring place in the hearts of its readers. Article after article flowed from his pen. Meanwhile he also founded his own Psychic Club and the so-called "Atkinson School of Mental Science". Both were located in the same building as Flower's Psychic Research and New Thought Publishing Company.

Atkinson was a past president of the International New Thought Alliance.

Throughout his subsequent career, Atkinson wrote and published under his own name and many pseudonyms. It is not known whether he ever acknowledged authorship of these pseudonymous works, but all of the supposedly independent authors whose writings are now credited to Atkinson were linked to one another by virtue of the fact that their works were released by a series of publishing houses with shared addresses and they also wrote for a series of magazines with a shared roster of authors. Considering "Thought Vibration" was written over 100 years ago it is right to say that its ideas are extremely up to date.

For those wanting "food for thought" this is the perfect reading.

You might not agree that everything we see/experience/live is a manifestation of our thoughts and that same thought has a huge influence on ourselves and others...the author's idea is that of we all have a strong "will" that does not need strengthening, but the mind does need to be trained to receive and act upon the suggestions of the will.

We all "possess the power to raise the keynote of our mind to a positive pitch by an effort of the will" leaving behind one of the most and destructive feeling of all - FEAR - that as long as it masters you, you are in no condition to make progress in the Realm of Thought.

Bear with me - you are not what you think you may be but you do have the power to manifest into reality your own thoughts. "When the mind is full of worry thoughts, it cannot find time to work out plans to benefit you. But when you have concentrated upon bright, helpful thoughts, you'll discover that it'll start work subconsciously".

Keeping a positive attitude towards yourself is the key not only to make things work well but also to help others on their journey towards a better and positive life.

I have encountered many people throughout my journey and for some reason those same people were able to recognise this positive outlook I have towards life. I've one thing to say: it's practice and practice and practice. Once I realised I have same worthiness as those I admire I was able to attract those same qualities into my own life and somehow spread that idea into many other lives.

"I want to call your attention to the fact that nothing is too good for YOU - no matter how great the thing may be - no matter how undeserving you may seem to be. You are entitled to the best there is, for it is your direct inheritance. The good things of the world are not the portion of any favoured sons, they belong to all, but they only come to those who are wise enough to recognise that the good things are theirs by right, and who are sufficiently courageous to reach out for them".

One last thing: Insist upon your mouth wearing upturned corners :)

Really enjoyed this, however old-fashioned it seems now. I love anything to do with The Law of Attraction and like to keep reading matters relating to this to keep in a positive frame of mind.

An incredibly well written brain training book that helped me confirm the answers to how to cultivate the brain cells that gives the controller the ability to combat destructive behavior and bad habits in place of good habits, thoughts and actions.
A well needed book for myself and those of us who plan on improving the way we think, act, and live our daily lives regardless to the chaos that surrounds us.
I'm going to read it again!

Originally published in 1908 and rejuvenated 100 years later, “Thought Vibration” is a relatively short book at less than 100 pages; however it is certainly is a concise and informative book that is well worth the read.

Many of the current “new thought” ideals and the concepts/laws behind the “power of attraction” were shared by William Walker Atkinson and they are just as powerful now as they likely were back in the days in which they were written. The author shares concepts like: fears are realized because in essence they are expectations and we draw to us what we expect; the key to attainment is desire, confidence, and will, followed by action; that we are all unique individuals and, as such, must follow our own path and not give our power to others; and finally, and perhaps most importantly, thoughts are a real force and the key to the law of attraction.

I enjoyed reading this book and I learned and reinforced many ideas that I believe to be universal truths. Those who are interested in the power of thought or in the law of attraction would likely find this book useful and would benefit from having act copy of it in their library.

Premessa delle premesse: volere è potere, rullo di tamburi...mi spiace dirvelo, non accadrà mai senza sudore e sacrificio.
Nonostante ciò una mentalità propositiva prima della fase IMPRESCINDIBILE dell' azione, è utilissima, ma non è cosa semplice da attuare,se non si è positivi di natura.
Questo libro può aiutarvi a essere maggiormente positivi.

Tau buku ini pertama kali dari harun, begitupun istilah nya. Ngga expect kalo pemikiran ini bukan pikiran yang arus utama, ternyata udah banyak yang ngga percaya bahkan mengistilahkan dengan mitos belaka. Jauh setelah ngobrol sama harun, seketika aku inget sama istilah law of attraction, alhasil pas lagi kerja dengerin podcast ngaji filsafat yang membahas hal ini.
Inti dari perbincangan itu paling ngga adalah: alam ini hidup dan memiliki energi yang bisa membantu siapapun yang hidup di dalamnya. Maka kalau kita berbicara, berpikir, bahkan meminta, alam akan menangkap sinyal tersebut, dan akan berkonspirasi untuk mewujudkan hal-hal yang kita ucap, pikir, dan inginkan. Ternyata starting point nya adalah pemikiran buddha yang sangat alam itu.

Tapi bukan ngaji filsafat namanya kalau ngga menarik relevansinya dengan konsep islam. Di islam sendiri, ust. Fahruddin Faiz, pengisi pengajian itu bilang, kalau Allah sesuai dengan prasangka hamba-Nya. BOOM.

Tapi, aku ga berhenti sampai di sana. Aku lanjut mendengarkan podcast Cania Citta dan Sabda di Podquest yang berbagi perspektif tentang Law of Attraction. Pandangan mereka menarik, dan yang pertama kali dipatahkan soal LoA ini adalah, bullshit. Ya, demikian karena pikiran kita tidak semena-mena dapat mengubah keadaan begitu aja.

Nah, pembahasan mereka mendalam, hingga ketemu pada satu titik kalau LoA bagus buat kita percayai dan terapkan untuk membentuk konsep diri kita yang lebih positif dengan percaya bahwa hal-hal baik akan datang ketika kita memikirkannya. Frasa “ketika kita memikirkannya” inilah yang akan membawa kita mendapatkan hasil yang kita ingin karena dengan kita sudah memikirkan, artinya kita berfokus pada hal tersebut, dan hal-hal lain di luar yang kita pikirkan hanya menjadi “tritagonis” atau hal yang netral aja.
Itulah sedikit pandangan dan rasionalisasi dengan LoA, aku sendiripun percaya. Kembali ke buku, aku mau nulis beberapa hal menarik dan menjadi insight dari buku ini.

Pendahuluan: jangan mau “menyembah” dan berada pada bayang-bayang sang guru seumur hidup kita. Hiduplah.

Kredo:
Saya tahu bahwa sikap ‘Aku Bisa dan aku ingin’ akan membawa seseorang meraih kesuksesan yang akan tampak ajaib bagi orang yang yakin bahwa ‘aku tidak bisa’".


Hukum Tarik-Menarik di Dunia Pikiran:
Pikiran yang kuat, atau pikiran yang berlanjut lama, akan menjadikan kita pusat daya tarik bagi gelombang orang lain yang sesuai dengan gelombang pikiran kita.
Kita akan mendapatkan energi yang sama dengan pikiran kita. Pikiran kita diibaratkan “bergetar” yang dengan getaran itu akan menarik getaran lain. Kita akan menemukan lingkungan yang positif, jika kita senantiasa berpikir positif. Sebaliknya, kita senantiasa mendapatkan nasib-nasib negatif, jika pikiran kita hanya berpikir tentang prasangka buruk.

Gelombang Pikiran dan Proses Reproduksinya:
Orang yang percaya sepenuhnya kepada diri sendiri dan memertahankan sikap mental Positif dan Determinasi tidak akan terpengaruh oleh pikiran-pikiran yang tidak sesuai dan negatif dari Keputusasaan dan Kegagalan yang muncul dari benak orang lain yang menjadi ciri kualitas mereka.
Cukup jelas.

Pembahasan tentang Pikiran:
Upaya Aktif adalah upaya yang baru saja dilakukan--yang benar-benar segar, sedangkan Upaya Pasif adalah upaya ciptaan yang tak terlalu baru, dan, pada kenyataannya, sering merupakan hasil dari impuls getaran yang muncul pada masa lampau.
Ini salah satu bab yang paling seru! Ngebahas tentang habbit yang tercipta dan relasinya antara Aktif dengan Pasif.

Membangun Pikiran:
Mereka tidak lagi tunduk kepada sugesti dan pengaruh orang lain, namun telah menjadi tuan atas diri mereka sendiri.
“Aku” dan “Diri” merupakan dua pengertian yang berbeda. Aku adalah yang memerintah dan mengendalikan, dan Diri adalah fisik keseluruhan individu.

Rahasia Kehendak:
Biarkan anak perempuan terancam bahaya, dan dia akan mewujudkan tingkat Keberanian dan Kehendak yang menyapu semua yang ada di hadapannya. Namun, perempuan yang sama akan gemetar di hadapan suami yang dominan, dan akan kekurangan Kehendak untuk melaksanakan tugas sederhana. Seorang anak laki-laki akan mengerjakan segala macam pekerjaan jika dia menganggapnya sebagai permainan, namun dia hampir tidak dapat memaksa dirinya untuk memotong kayu kecil. Kehendak kuat mengikuti Hasrat kuat. Apabila anda benar-benar ingin melakukan sesuatu, anda biasanya dapat mengembangkan Kekuatan Kehendak untuk mencapainya.
Cukup menampar betapa malasnya aku hehehe.

Cara Menyangkal Daya Tarik Pikiran yang Menyakitkan:
Cara terbaik untuk mengatasi kebiasaan ‘Merasa Takut’ ialah dengan mengambil sikap mental ‘Berani’, sebagaimana cara terbaik untuk menyingkirkan kegelapan ialah dengan membiarkan cahaya masuk. Metode terbaik pasti, termudah, dan tercepat ialah dengan mengasumsikan keberadaan pikiran positif yang diinginkan untuk menggantikan pikiran negatif tersebut; dan dengan terus-menerus membalas panjang lebar pikiran positif, mewujudkannya menjadi realitas objektif.
Aku suka pembahasan di bab ini sebagaimana aku menandai secara khusus bab ini. Kita merasa ada pikiran negatif, namun seringkali pikiran tersebut tetap eksis, maka cara untuk menghilangkannya adalah “mengalahkan” pikiran tersebut dengan berpikiran positif.

Transmutasi Pikiran Negatif:
Belajarlah untuk berkonsentrasi pada pikiran yang sifatnya berlawanan dengan apa yang anda takutkan, dan anda akan menyelesaikan masalah.
Yap. Inti dari LoA yang menjadi kenyataan adalah kita sebegitu berhasilnya menyingkirkan hal-hal yang tidak kita pikirkan sehingga kita menjadi fokus terhadap hal-hal yang kita pikirkan saja, dan hal tersebutlah yang menjadikan pikiran kita kenyataan.

Hukum Kendali Mental:
Tak ada gunanya melawan pikiran yang tak menyenangkan dengan tujuan ‘menjatuhkannya’; itu adalah pemborosan energi, dan makin anda ngotot anda berkata, ‘aku tidak akan memikirkan hal ini!’ makin ia terus merasuk ke dalam pikiran anda, sebab anda tak henti-henti mencengkeramnya dengan tujuan memukulnya.
Sama seperti perumpamaan Tere Liye kalau semakin anjing yang terikat berusaha melepaskan diri dan berontak, ikatannya semakin kuat.

Menegaskan Kekuatan Hidup:
Tegaskan Kekuatan Hidup di dalam diri anda, dan wujudkan dalam setiap pikiran, tindakan, dan perbuatan, dan tak lama kemudian anda akan senang dan meluap-luap dengan vitalitas dan energi.


Melatih Kebiasaan Pikiran:
Kita harus waspada setiap saat untuk mencegah terbentuknya kebiasaan yang tak diinginkan. Mungkin tak ada kerugian khusus dalam melakukan hal tertentu hari ini, atau mungkin besok, namun mungkin ada banyak kerugian dalam menetapkan kebiasaan melakukan hal tertentu.
Bad Habits dapat datang kapan saja jika kita lengah.

Psikologi Emosi:
’Emosi diperdalam melalui pengulangan.’ Jika seseorang membiarkan keadaan perasaan menguasai dirinya secara menyeluruh, dia akan merasa lebih mudah menghasilkan emosi yang sama untuk kedua kalinya, dan seterusnya, hingga emosi atau perasaan khusus itu menjadi sifat kedua baginya.


Mengembangkan Sel Otak Baru:
Apabila anda ingin menumbuhkan kebiasaan tindakan tertentu, mulailah dengan menumbuhkan sikap mental yang sesuai dengannya. Dan sebagai sarana untuk menumbuhkan sikap mental itu, mulailah dengan ‘bertindak’, atau melakukan gerakan tindakan yang sesuai dengan pikiran.
Apa yang kita pikirkan, akan menurunkan tindakan. Maka jika kita menginginkan akan bertindak atau akan meraih apa sekaligus, mulailah untuk menumbuhkan sikap mental yang sesuai dengannya.

Kekuatan Menarik-Kekuatan Hasrat:
Anda harus jatuh cinta kepada hal yang anda inginkan, dan anda harus mencintainya dengan sungguh-sungguh--tak ada yang menggoda hari ini, “pada hari ini dan esok hari” semacam rasa cinta, tetapi jenis cinta kuno yang baik, yang membuat seorang lelaki muda mustahil untuk tidur lelap kecuali setelah dia berjalan-jalan di sekitar rumah gadis yang ditaksirnya.
Cukuppppppppppp jelas.

Kekuatan Dinamis yang Dahsyat:
Makin lama saya hidup, makin saya yakin bahwa perbedaan besar antara manusia, yang lemah dan yang kuat, yang besar dan yang tak penting, adalah energi dan tekad yang tak terkalahkan--tujuan yang telah ditetapkan terlebih dahulu dan selanjutnya Kematian atau Kemenangan.
Perumpamaannya seperti, nggak ada orang yang bertekad sangat ingin hidup selain orang yang tengah sekarat.

Jangan meremehkan diri sendiri, atau menilai terlalu tinggi orang lain. Sadarilah bahwa anda terbuat dari bahan-bahan bagus, dan ada banyak hal baik yang tersimpan di dalam pikiran anda. Jika anda penulis, maka simpan ide anda hanya untuk pekerjaan anda; jika anda pebisnis, anda tidak perlu berbicara tentang kebijaksanaan kepada kerumunan orang yang menganga. Jangan terlalu terburu-buru untuk tepuk tangan dan pertunjukan.


Membuat Tuntutan Sendiri:
Tak ada yang terlalu baik untuk anda. Anda berhak atas hal terbaik yang ada, sebab itulah yang anda warisi langsung. Jadi jangan takut untuk bertanya--menuntut--dan menerima. Semua itu milik siapa saja, tetapi hanya menjadi milik orang-orang yang cukup bijak untuk mengakui bahwa hal-hal baik adalah milik mereka karena mereka berhak mendapatkannya, dan milik mereka yang cukup berani meraihnya. Banyak hal baik yang luput karena anda ingin memertanyakan kepantasan anda untuk mendapatkannya. Banyak hal indah yang sirna dari hadapan anda lantaran anda merasa tidak layak mendapatkannya. Banyak hal besar luput dari tangkapan anda karena anda kurang percaya diri dan kurang berani untuk menuntut dan mengambilnya.


Hukum, Bukan Peluang:
Bagaimana dia bisa membantu dirinya sendiri? Tak ada keajaiban khusus tentang itu. Segala sesuatu yang dia lakukan, pikirkan, dan katakan melarut dalam pikiran kegagalan. Orang lain melihat semangatnya, namun gagal memercayai dia atau kemampuannya, yang pada gilirannya dia melorot sebagai paparan lain dari nasib buruknya, alih-alih menganggapnya sebagai akibat dari ketidakpercayaannya sendiri sekaligus hasil dari harapannya atas kegagalan. Dia menyarankan kegagalan untuk dirinya sendiri sepanjang waktu, dan dia selalu mengambil efek dari sugensti itu. Kemudian sekali lagi, dia dengan persangkaan negatifnya menyumpal pikirannya, padahal pikiran sesungguhnya merupakan sumber ide-ide dan rencana-rencana yang kondusif untuk kesuksesan lantaran percaya kepada hal itu. Kondisi keputusasaan bukanlah kondisi yang memungkinkan gagasan-gagasan cemerlang datang kepada kita. Gagasan-gagasan cemerlang timbul hanya ketika kita bersemangat dan berharap pikiran kita mengolah gagasan-gagasan cemerlang itu yang memang bisa kita pertanggungjawabkan.
Alur logika kenapa pikiran negatif melahirkan realitas negatif, dan sebaliknya.

Short, incredibly well written, and most probably served as an inspiration for the entire New Age movement throughout the 20th century (either this one or any of W.W.Atkinson's writings from the end of the 19th and the very beginning of the 20th century). His style is easy to read, his attitudes are humanist, gentle and benevolent, he equally respects men and women of all races and cultures, and says the day will soon come when the humanity will finally go beyond its primitivism, segregations, fears, misjudgments, prejudices, etc. Well, 100 years later it's still almost the same, but so are the universal laws and principles Atkinson explains so clearly.

Excelente explicación de la Ley de la Atracción desde el punto de vista ocultista, tal como fue formulada originalmente en los primeros años del siglo XX. Atkinson incluso desarrolla conceptos relacionados con el inconsciente y los bloqueos existentes en él y aporta ideas para enfocar la voluntad hacia la consecución de los objtivos propios, siempre aprovechando la funcionalidad de la Ley de la Atracción. Recomendado para los estudiosos serios de los temas ocultos y, en particular, de la Ley de la Atracción.

I always wondered when the first dubious self-help book was published. After hearing many references lately to the "Law of Attraction", "positive thinking" and "The Secret", I decided to go to the source. I don't doubt the usefulness of optimism, but this book delves too far into "cosmic oneness" and pseudoscience to be taken seriously.

Classic book. So, most of the points were covered in the modern day self-help literature. But two points i would like to mention.

1. Control impulses to stop habit. It is a good advise. Though it will take years of bad experience to understand it.

2. Don't waste your energy on trivial matters like gossiping, talking about self.

This was an interesting read and I would give it a 2.5 if I could on the app. I believe that this is my first ”self-help,” structured book and wasn't a big fan of this type of writing in general. The writing and topics we're somewhat confusing as well. At first, he mentioned telekinesis but then the book somewhat evolved into more of how positive thinking and learning to control fear will better one’s life. I definitely think that there were some very solid points made, but I feel some of the ideas we're at one point relateable and at the next quite out there thoughts. I now know the author was part of the New Thought movement and an occultist, but as I was reading it, some of the author’s ideas were seeming like an early form of Scientology. Knowing the author's background, I would say although I don't agree with a lot of his core thoughts, it is interesting to hear others’ ideas during this time and movement.

Almost highlighted the entire book!

I extracted these takeaways for daily practice:

1. Repeat this single affirmation constantly during the day, especially before to sleep:
"I am Asserting the Mastery of My Real Self".

2. Conquer the fear before anything else:
Fear is a coward who runs when you face it with positive thinkings.
Fill your mind with good, strong and courageous thoughts.

3. Transmute Worry into Desire:
Deeper the Desire, stronger the Force of Attraction.
Things adjust by themselves. Future brings resources and helpful agents to overcome the feared.

4. Practice the concentration:
Focus on the thing in front of you.
Focus on bright and helpful thoughts. Focus on the opposite of negative thoughts.
When you put all of your attention in one single task of thought, everything else disappears.

5. Choosing your habits:
Ask yourself: What should I do between these things?
"I choose to do the one I would like to turn into a habit".
When you say "just this once" is like using a knife that divides your wish in pieces.

There are a number of deep and intriguing thoughts in this work; however, there are also some points that are a bit dangerous to the overall health and well-being of readers and those points that are good, are often lost in the obtuse construction of the writing.

I actually read this book three times to be sure I had a firm grasp on the material, often resorting to diagraming sentences to be sure I had the author's thoughts in hand. That sort of writing will lose readers, perhaps the very readers who might most benefit from the work.

That said, the basic principles of the book - developing new, healthy habits of thought and practice coupled with finding the inner strength to follow through - are proven tactics that can help individuals who are disciplined enough to stick with the book.

While all readers may draw their own conclusions, I found the parts about emotions to be a bit short-sighted. I believe we can control our outward manifestation of emotion, but we are not yet to a point (and perhaps we rightfully never should strive to be) where we can actually control our emotions. They aren't the same thing. To be our best in society, we have to control those outward manifestations, but try to stop yourself from feeling sad when someone you love leaves you or stop anger from entering your mind when someone slights you. Maybe there are rare individuals who can control that, but I don't think it's something we are likely to achieve simply by trying to will it.

Everybody got crazy with "Secret" and youtube is full of the "law of attraction" videos. This, I guess, is the original idea and I have seen no references to him in an of the modern books. Plagiarism? Truly. Shame that publishers get old classics and rewrite them in order to maintain a copy write on popular but expired old books. I assume that is the reason behind for not seeing any reference to this old book in all modern publications of the "Law of attraction". Anyway this book is fantastic and I like it a lot. Tesla and Einstein said the same thing, the universe is moved by frequencies (among other things) so our thought vibrations must move the world around us.

Excellent

If you're already on the law of attraction path, this is a wonderful addition to that path. I like the way he simplified some ideas I knew of, but I wasn't 100% sure on how to achieve. I also liked his use of the science behind energy and his frankness - if you don't change your thinking this won't work, but with the right mental guidance, which this book gives you, you really can transform your life and it all starts with how you view the law. Definitely recommend this quick read.

Escrito en 1908, puedo comprender todo lo que no me gustó del libro que es el tono horriblemente machista de los ejemplos que entrega el libro. Fuera de eso, es un aporte al estudio de la Ley de la Atracción.

Este pequeno livro está cheio de sabedoria da velha escola e é o livro original de onde todas as ideias sobre a Lei Secreta da Atração surgiram. Tem mais de cem anos (escrito em 1906), mas suas lições são cada vez mais relevantes no mundo contemporâneo.

O que significa vibração de pensamento? Basicamente, que a frequência com que seus pensamentos vibram (em sentido figurado) determina os resultados que você obtém em sua vida. Portanto, se seus pensamentos vibram em uma frequência negativa, você obtém resultados negativos; se eles vibram em uma frequência positiva, você obtém resultados positivos.

Você não precisa interpretar isso como sorte ou mera ingenuidade, pois é tão simples quanto quando você pensa em como criar algo positivo, você tende a ter mais ideias sobre como fazer aquela coisa bem e então você age com uma concentração constante porque você estará mais motivado pelas próprias intenções genuínas.

Por outro lado, se você pensar em como você é um fracasso, se você tiver muitos medos, dúvidas e pensamentos negativos sobre as coisas e continuar se comparando com os outros, isso o deixará preocupado, fazendo-o tomar decisões erradas e sabotando a si mesmo até que, eventualmente, você se perca ou simplesmente não crie a vida dos seus sonhos.

Este livro fala principalmente sobre a importância de controlar seus pensamentos, não é um disparate e não há ilusão alguma aqui. Atkinson também fala sobre como desenvolver força de vontade e disciplina e a importância de apenas ter controle sobre seu processo de pensamento para criar uma vida boa.

I didn’t even recall buying this book until I saw it on my Kindle App Store. Essentially, this book is about having positive thoughts because your thoughts will shape your physical reality.

The book also mentioned the need for having willpower, and if you truly desire something, you will work hard to manifest it into a reality. This reminded me of the quote by Randy Paush, in his book “The Last Lecture”, “The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”

I would say maintaining constant positive thoughts can be difficult, because most of the time, people are not even aware of their own thoughts. To be aware of your negative thoughts and replace them with positive affirmative thoughts requires practice. Perhaps, one would require hard re-programming, which is definitely possible.
