*This book takes place after the Knot My Band duet but can be read as a standalone.*
Brittney had to escape from her parents and the alphas they sold her to. Her only chance was reaching out to a rockstar she met once. When that omega superstar comes through for her, she’s on her way to freedom.
But her past isn’t going to give up that easily, so she’s assigned to a security team.
The Phoenix Pack Security Team will protect Brittney from her past, but will they also become her future?
Author’s This is a medium to fast-burn, omegaverse, MFMMMM, why-choose romance, meaning she doesn’t have to choose. The story changes POVs between the main character and her men. It is intended for 18+.
The baseline plot is decent and works pretty well. The FMC is really well written. The MMCs are decent but lack depth. The side characters are good friends but spend little time on page; especially Tommy, they are good when present but sparse.
The problem is the author's lack of continuity, consistency and details. Literally from one sentence to the next things are being changed. For example, she's held up by her hair, head lolling to the side - how is that supposed to work? The antagonist resolution is a mess, there are obvious gaping flaws in their (Saint's especially) logic regarding the antagonists being resolved at all. Brittany's past is very vague. The world building is severely lacking so we can't tell if her experience is even legal in their society. The guys personalities are a bit inconsistent, especially the twins who the author seems to confuse herself with. It becomes a very annoying book to read, very early on, and continues throughout.
It's not a terrible premise but the book isn't nearly as enjoyable as it could have been.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for insta love, but the progression of thier relationship left me hanging and wanting more. I wish there would’ve been more push and pull and more discovery. I guess this is how fast a scent match would move once they find each other but there’s no depth, just surface level MLs.
With the first part of the series we got to see everyone personality, they felt like very different people. With this book other then Fox being insecure he’s a beta and saint being this strict guy, there’s literally nothing else that really drawls you to the character. I would’ve loved to see her test saints buttons, see how much she could get away with before his control snaps and he leans into his primal ways. Or see Hunter actually hunt down her scent.
It just didn’t make sense for a FL who was recently freed from a traumatic forced mating to want to jump in to sharing her heat with essentially strangers.
The coziness of the book was awesome, love reading about the pack dynamics and I’ll probably come back when I want a cozy read, but with the loose plot setting and gaps, it just didn’t make it satisfying to read for me personally!
Rating- 3 Heat- 4 Tropes- MFMMMM, rock star romance, sweet omegaverse, scent match, bodyguard romance
I loved the Knot My Band duet, so I was excited for this one. Unfortunately, it just felt a little flat to me. The bones of a great plot are there. It is both a rock star romance and a bodyguard romance. Britney has run away from her horrible parents and the pack they sold her to, but that really ends up having very little to do with the plot. I thought we were building to some big climax with her parents but it entirely fizzles out. 90% of the story was just her and her pack. Yet somehow I never felt the connection between them.
A great addition to the 2 novels prior, now I hope we get Tommy’s story! I didn’t like this ones intense showdown as much as the prior 2 books but was still a page-turner to fond out what happened next
Great third book, the whole series has been really good. Excellent story, perfect pacing and overall just a good read. I hope we get to another so Tommy can find his HEA
