The CEO's Reluctant Lover

Rate this book
Carter Davis' new nurse is perfect, except for one point - she isn't actually a nurse. She's a corporate executive and his new next neighbor.

Vanessa Imenerse is a beautiful, African American woman, who is both smart and savvy. A corporate headhunter is trying to get her to accept a job as CEO of GainsCorp, so Vanessa thought she’d enjoy a well earned vacation in New York at his expense. The only downside is her neighbor is constantly shouting at people.

Vanessa decides to investigate. She discovers her neighbor is an incredibly handsome man who is bed bound while he recovers from a car accident.

When Vanessa walks into his apartment Carter sees a beautiful woman who identifies herself as Vanessa I’m-a-nurse (Imenerse) and he immediately thinks she has been sent by the nursing agency to replace the girl who quit! Vanessa tries to explain the misunderstanding, but he won’t listen and through compassion she decides to help him.

They both fall in love while she looks after him and after he recovers they explore New York city together.

But neither of them realize that the job Vanessa has been offered is to replace Carter in his career as CEO of GainsCorp.

Can their relationship survive this massive dilemma?

Vanessa is torn between the great job offer and the man she has come to love. Once again, she must choose between love and her career.

And when secrets from Vanessa's path began to resurface, will their bond be able to keep them together? Or will everything fall apart...

Nothing Reluctant about either Lover.

A interracial romance with Vanessa Imernerse and Carter Davis that started with confusion - the first of three books in this series. Vanessa has been hired as the CEO of a company in Manhattan but has thirty days to decide. She's given an apartment in the same floor with Carter Davis who is in bed rest after suffering an accident. He's CEO of the same company. Is she his replacement?

He thought she was his nurse because she started taking care of him. She told him who she was but still helped take care of him since she had the time. Eventually, they fell in love and there was quite a bit of sex, sex and more sex.

Later she finds that she's hired for the the same job he had. A misunderstanding had them thinking the wrong thing. The plot was thin and there was little backstory for either character. The book ended in a cliffhanger. It wasn't worth reading the remaining two books, but I had purchased and read them several years ago. So I reread them.

They're really two novellas and a short story, not worth the money even though the first one is free.

This was a pretty decent and fast read. I loved that it did not waste a lot of words getting to the point and the points were good. There were some twists and turns that were also well done and not over the top in my opinion. The characters were likable or at least had character. The end was a definite cliffhanger and one that I would love to get into.

Just okay, the story was ok just seem a little rushed for me, I would have liked for a lil bit more of the story, to quick to the point .

I gave this rating because the story line could have been a lil better, I would like to read part two just to see how it ends

Cute story, editing needs to be done because it was missing a bunch of words and other things. Vanessa went to NY because she was deciding if she would take a CEO position or not. They gave her a month to figure it out. She ended up meeting Carter, who was on bed rest from an accident. He thought she was the maid, go figure, and was rude to her from the jump. The book moved by telling what was going on with them over the weeks. Then her ex, the one she'd dumped in the opening pops up. Her and Carter seem like a good couple until the end something about her keeping a secret from him. Not sure about reading the next one but I'm not saying I won't.

Sub-par plot but more important were the mistakes! I mean, couldn't she get someone, anyone to proofread? I highlighted mistakes, and there are a lot, but not all of them. Simple mistakes like "there" when it should be "their". Come on authors, please proofread or ask a friend. You can't put that out there and then expect people to pay for your work.

The actual story was meh. It felt like it needed more. I'm not interested enough to read part two.

Holy grammar issues, Batman! I was not sure if I could finish this whole book, and honestly I did not. I gave up about 60% into it. I could not stop rolling my eyes while reading. This story is EXACTLY the type of sappy dribble that made me ignore the romance genre my whole life. This book definitely lacks the edge I prefer and is a bit too cheesy for my taste.

Wasn't the worst book I have ever read. But it was far from the best. The story was pretty cookie cutter and non-realistic. If Disney made adult sitcoms that's what this would be with dramatic over simplified scenarios and conflicts falling perfectly in place.

Intriguing

Can't wait to read the next parts to the series. What is Vanessa hiding? And I warmed a lot to Carter in the end I wanted to slap him at first. I wish these to dynamic couple a happy ever after in the end

This was an interesting read. The errors I found while reading the book bothered me but other than that, it was an interesting story. I would love to know what happens to them next.

Not really reluctant

Overall, the story had a interesting twist. I wasn't crazy about the ending. However, the title didn't seem to fit the story as both people weren't reluctant.
