The was such an amazing story. I just love a great shifter book.

Jacques Bertrand is Sovereign leader of the biggest Gator congregation of Louisiana. He is well loved and respected but if he doesn't find his mate, then not only will he lose his leadership but his ability to shift.

Jacques mate had been stolen from birth. A woman who desperately wanted to have a child went into the back waters and sought the help of a priestess. The thing was if the child was born without markings this meant she is fully human but if she is born with markings then she is a shifter and will belong to the Gator people. The baby girl was born with markings but because the mother desperately wanted the baby and she didn't tell her husband what she had done, they left with the baby but not before a deadly warning was given to them.

Angelique LeFleur is the Pit boss owner of the Tiki Casino in Las Vegas, she was adopted by the Palermo's and was well loved and cared for. When her parents died she was left as part owner of the casino with her brother Michael. He was a drug addict, philanderer and just want to live off of the money his parents made which left Angelique in charge of running the casino. But as the fates would have it Jacques found Angelique and bought out Michael's part of the casino. Angelique being furious suddenly shifts into an Alligator and with Jacques being there he helps her to understand who she really is. Once she turns back to her human side, Jacques begins to tell her what exactly happened to her but to get the full understanding, she must come back to Louisiana with him.

Jacques and Angelique embark on a discovery of each other, her meeting her real parents and understanding the fate of Jacques leadership if they do not mate by his 30th birthday. Angelique is overwhelmed and happy by everything she is learning but will it be enough for her to want to stay and can Jacques get Angelique to fall in love with him before its too late.
