Failed werewolf to leader of my kind... Only me! In order to unite the two breeds of werewolves, the Ancients and the Lessers, I have to put a stop to the tyrannical rule of the current werewolf King - Antoine DéLune. It won’t happen until I come into my full power. That won’t happen unless I choose a mate. I have to choose between Evan - whose claim I already accepted once or Mikael, his brother - who they forced into my life. One will help me embrace my destiny, while the other is fated to destroy it. There’s no way of knowing which one is my future or my end. Oh, and the kicker, Antoine DéLune is their father!
This is book TWO of The Ancients Series. This paranormal romantic suspense story MUST be read in order. The main character's story concludes in book 4, but all four of those books are already available! 1 - Shadows of the Ancients 2 - Falling into the White 3 - Branches of the Willow 4 - Bound by the Moon

Let me start off by saying I despise love triangles of any sort. I have a tendency to pick a "side", draw a line in the sand and not budge. Which ultimately leads to severe irritation if my team is not winning. So I was very reluctant to read a book, even after loving the first one, that deals heavily with a love triangle. Especially one where other reviewers hinted at my team losing. Well without giving too much away I was happily surprised at how well this particular love triangle was pulled off. For the first time ever I actually changed sides!!! And what made it even better SLIGHT SPOILER by the end of the book my original "team", who was enough of an ass to make me change teams in the first place, seemed to redeem himself and actually make me hope for a happy ending for him as well. It was refreshing to have the losing side of the love triangle not turn completely evil or morph into some kind of villain to advance the story along. Great book, I can't wait for the next one!
Wow, this book left me in a tailspin & not in a good way... book 2 also has split personality like book 1, it seems to be written for Y/A, with adult characters acting like immature high schoolers, but really meant for adult readers due to the foul language & sexual scenes, but because of the characters being immature it doesn’t suit adult readers either. Also so many things that happened were so totally unbelievable that it ruined the story. Starting with Evan & Mikael swapping personalities. In book one Evan was the good guy who wanted to do right by Jess that looked like he would be her mate & seemed to totally adore Jess, & Mikael was the hot headed jerk/bad guy who was totally horrible to Jess, seemed to hate Jess & nearly killed Jess’ human best friend. Jess absolutely hated him in book 1. Then the rolls reverse in this book with almost no explanation as to why that is as well as happening right away. There was no progression to show they changed or why they did. I kept thinking either she was dreaming everything (like the tv show Dallas did one year) or that a witch swapped out the brothers personalities or something equally as bizarre. I couldn’t wrap my mind around all the inconsistencies in the story. The author also needs to set up a plan that all the characters have to adhere to (werewolf behavior & abilities across the board for the reader to be able to follow along) or the whole story just becomes unrealistic for a reader. I also couldn’t excuse all the editing/proofreading errors in a published book.
This was one of the best books I've read recently. I LOVED it!!! The story was excellent. I was satisfied with the romance, even the love triangle. The supporting characters were well fleshed out and also very interesting. I can't wait for book 3 and the break-off book about Annabelle.
I get the whole wanting us to dislike the one so that the other could win but seriously?
Butler spent way too much time developing Evan's character, convincing us that he and Jess were meant for each so when you change him into this dark self-centered insecure incubus it makes no sense at all.
Evan wasn't given a chance, Mikael was like a totally different person between Shadows of the Ancients and Falling Into The White, what he did to Ashley should not have been brushed off that easily, I mean she ALMOST DIED!!!!
I didn't have to finish the book to know who she'd end up with because from the beginning of book 2, Evan = Douche and Mikael = Angel.
Jess never really tried to go for Evan, she stated it loud and clear but in the end her words were lies, this was a beautiful book, the first one I mean, we got know the characters in depth but this book is just all about making us like Mikael like seriously?
I had a dozen anxiety attacks trying to read this book so if you don't want to experience that, save yourself the trouble and go find another book.
JUST MY OPINION.

I did not see this coming. What a shocker! Usually, when we read about a heroine meeting her hero the first time, it's for sure that they belong to each other. Now I know why he wasn't mentioned in detail in the previous book. But right now, I still find myself in denial; I have a hard time believing the twist in this story, and since the witch could break the king's bond, and we still have two more books to go, can we expect some evil revelation next?
It's not that I support the other team. I've grown to love Jess' mate because he's sweet, caring and understanding - he got perfect scores. But I want to see the other one have a happy ending too. Oh, wait for a second, what about the talk that one will destroy her? Is he fated to be the bad guy? And I didn't see Ash, the red wolf playing her role as an advisor anymore. Or was all of the talk valid only during the mate selection?
I love this series! This is a definite case of don't judge a book by its cover because the covers suck and I did let that out off reading these for a while. I encourage you to look past that & read this series! I LOVE Jess! I LOVE Mikael! SO GOOD.
I thought it had a good plot and ending, sometimes it did stray from the plot but it did have a good build up to the end. The characters didn't change from the first book and this book did kill off some characters while also bringing in old and new to the mix.
This book needs proofreading asap! That said... I liked the story so much even though there was a love triangle in the beginning and the personality chances made my head hurt. But I think the outcome was worth it and I love them as mates! Now... I'm off reading book 3!
I had a hard time with this one. Because I really seemed to like one character (Evan). But the other one (Mikael) grew on me when the other (Evan) ancient pulled away from Jessica. I really enjoyed the book. It was another good one.
Overall, good book!

Suddenly the hero from the previous book has become an insufferable ass due to his jealousy and insecurities. And the villain from the previous book is just a misunderstood sweetheart. Not an awful book though, just not for me.
I was pleased to know this wasn't a damn love triangle, there was no cliffhanger (which I was jumping up and down for glee). At first I wasn't sure what team I was on but as I got into the book my sides changed and I'm glad of who I teamed up for. Evan he's changed a lot from book one and I just didn't like that change, "you're sitting here, practically in my lap, and you're texting Mikael." He hissed out, and then looked at me as if I had grown two, very hideous heads. "I can't believe you." Just to state up front with all the quotes I chose it's pretty easy to see what team I'm on and I'll totally give ya'll a hint it ain't Team Evan! Mikael I grew to love him so damn much, "that wasn't luck, it was skill, baby!" I didn't miss the flirty tone he took with me. "Why didn't you answer me when I called out? Too busy checking out the whole package?" And when he's bossy it's so damn sexy, "you're going to wait outside, and stop thinking dirty thoughts." His hand moved down the length of my torso, coming around forward when he reached my thighs, "because I can smell your arousal right now, feel the heat coming off of you in waves, and if we don't get a little distance right now, you're parents are never going to like me again or want me to use that table of theirs. Understand?" His hand stopped short of falling between my legs as he asked his question." I mean Mikael is just freakin' sexy as hell anyway, "do you always unwrap your presents and run away?" Mikael asked as he moved right up to me. He was only inches away when he leaned in, rubbing his scruffy cheek up against mine. "Just in case you were wondering." he whispered seductively into my ear. "I enjoy the chase." Did I mention Jess grew some big ole' balls and learned to stand up for herself? No? Well now I did and I was so proud of that girl, and I just loved her to bits, "stop pouting. We need to get ready, and that's not going to happen if you're in here, naked, with me. I only have so much self-control, and you seem to lost all of yours." Although this is a four book series, if you totally stopped reading the series from here you'd be satisfied with what happened although you will be left wondering what's going to happen to some of the other characters, and whether they'll meet their significant others (Christine knows who I'm talking about in particular.)
This carries on a week later from where book 1 finished. Antoine, the King of werewolves has decreed that Jess must also date Mikael as well as Evan. An order that neither Jess nor Evan are happy about. Despite Jess being the White Wolf and natural born leader of the werewolves, she hasn't yet come into her powers and therefore has to no choice but to obey. I'm not a fan of love triangles as I can't be doing with the angst but this one wasn't too bad considering that Jess had chosen Evan from the outset. She also wasn't Mikael's biggest fan after what he did to Ashley so it was just a case of going through the motions until summer solstice....
Aside from having to date two men, Jess and her pack are still looking for Zach for the part he played in her kidnap. They are helped in their search by the adjoining pack led by Avery Daniels but things don't go according to plan leaving the pack heartbroken. They also discover that interfering wasn't a one off for Antoine when he considers adding oldest son Malachai to the mix. We meet a good witch and a bad witch but Jess has to try and work out which is which. Whilst trying to do that, she also starts to experience visions in which she is guided by all the white wolves that came before her.
I must say that I'm absolutely loving this series. If I were to judge the author by this series then I'd have to say that I am definitely a fan.
I am eating the heck out of these books!! They are so short, and just like in the first book, Christine has managed to fit in the perfect amount of action, drama, and romance into this book. I could not be happier.
Jessica thought that seeing Evan was love at first sight, but what if she just saw what she wanted to see? What if she had just seen the good side of him, and that wasn't the only persona he had? More, not that she is being forced to spend quality time with Mikael, was her first impression of him not what truly lied inside of his heart? Was she too quick to make her decision to bond with Evan?
We definitely see a side to both Evan and Mikael that we weren't expecting to see. It is clear: everything is not always as it first seems, and sometimes the shine will simply wear off. To be quite honest though, when the question was asked as to who would destroy her, the answer was obviously too evident to be the true answer. I will let you riddle that out.
I definitely recommend this series as a whole. They are very short reads and have plenty of action and drama to keep you entertained.
I am totally slacking in the writing reviews department, so this review is a bit late. But in a way, it's a good thing because it gives me a chance to fully digest the book before writing a review.
I really enjoyed this book, more so, I think, than Book 1. I already had my heart set on who I thought Jess should be with and was not disappointed. But aside from the sarcasm and banter and loyalty that helped me love these characters even more than I already did, the good one of them was trying to do with other animals was really heartwarming. This book also broke said warm heart, but if what happened didn't happen, the story wouldn't have turned out the way it did, so I had to forgive the author. I was very happy with the way the book ended (not on a cliffhanger!) so if you avoid those, there is no need to avoid this book! I can't wait to find out what happens next in Branches of the Willow... but since it will be out in the next couple of weeks, I don't have to wait long!
I could not help myself when I finished the first book in this series and automatically had to purchase the second one. Butler did not let me down! This book was to me even better than the first!
Falling into the White picks up right where the first book left off. Jess has been left with a choice that she has to make thanks to Antoine, the king. This whole thing that is going on brings out a whole different side to some of the characters. I personally went from rooting for Evan to almost becoming the president of Mikael's campaign to win Jess' heart!
Butler does include some twists and turns that threw me for a loop. Once we got to know Mikael a little bit better, I couldn't help but want to already re-read the first one to meet Mikael once again. So far I have restrained myself, because I have so many books I want to read. Before starting this series I had never heard of Butler, but now, I am looking forward to more of her books!
I loved this book as much as the first one! The only problem that I had was with the punctuation usage. The narrator would be talking, and it would switch to another character the next sentence. The reader wouldn't know, though, because there are no ("") used for many parts of the book.
Also, anytime there was a text message sent, the reader wouldn't be able to tell. It's just written as another sentence instead of having some form of distinct separation. This happened in the 1st book as well. I thought she would have edited and cleaned it up by now. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the book. These issues won't keep me from reading her books. I just think she needs to have someone edit them for her. On to number three!
where to begin...book one was excellent, but book two was impossible to put down. Jesus has come into her power and is really looking at the world and the people around her. Mikael surprises you in this book and the death of first love is confusing and hurtful. Except for the outbursts, all the writing is perfectly paced and entertaining. I am recommending to everyone I know.
Wow!...Just wow, that's all you get. Haha no really though In all the history of all the books I have ever read (and that's a lot) never, I repeat NEVER has anyone been able to turn me! Once I pick who I like I am loyal to the end. But Christine is the only Author on this Earth who has made me a traitor! (and like it) I mean she did it so perfectly I didn't realise until it was too late. I applauded her on her achievement.
This was a fantastic read. Book 1, team Evan. Book 2, definitely not team Evan, but he redeems himself in the end. Mikael = Holy Mother Of Pearl. Get your fans out, girls.
I loved this read. There were moments of laughter, heartbreak, and sizzling passion.
ooh I switched teams very early one in this book. Team Mikael all the way. I loved it. I read the rating and reviews on the 3rd book and I am a little hesitant to read it now. but when it comes out I think ill read it anyways. I loved the main characters.
Make sure you have time to read this you won't be able to put the book now. I am so happy with the choice Jess made. I love the characters. I could feel the emotions thats she would go threw. Hooked on this series. Buy it, you won't regret this read
This is the second in a series of books about a clan of werewolves and a woman who becomes the fulfillment of legend as the “white wolf”. It is a paranormal romance – with her love interests being two werewolves who are “ancients”. I have read the first three and all were good reads.
I absolutely loved this book. The story continues from the first book. I could not put it down. The end leave you with a cliff hanger. Can not wait to read book three.
