When southerner Dr. Jenna Harper arrived in a small town in New England, she only had one thing on her mind. She wanted a new start for herself. She wanted a place to settle down and start her career. Dr. Harper was soft-spoken, but she had a hard shell around her heart. She had completely closed herself off from love and threw herself 100% into her work. She believed that was one of the things that had gotten her to the top of her field so quickly.
Little did she know, the fortress she had built around her love life was about to be crushed by someone she would have least expected, another woman. Kristen Fletcher awakens thoughts and desires within Dr. Harper that she had never known existed. Unfortunately, Dr. Harper has no idea how long she will be in town. She has to battle the conflict of pursuing her newfound love or staying grounded in the reality that she may have to leave soon.
Missy Redstone lives in New Hampshire with her two cats. She enjoys spending time exploring the natural beauty of New Hampshire as well as Maine and Massachusetts. She is a self-proclaimed geek who loves technology and has become an Apple fangirl at heart. She is from North Carolina, but loves the snowy winters of the North.
Within a few pages I nearly gave up, I just couldn’t stand Kris’s mental simpering after meeting Jenna for only one second. The actual story was too simplistic, very one dimensional, there was no other story except their relationship. I would have liked more than just drooling over each other, perhaps an additional storyline not just revolving around sexual attraction. I kept reading until Susie turned up then I had to just give in and accept that this never going to be anything but a formulaic romance.
I was really looking forward to a quicky read to get back into my fall reading. Alas, this was not the book. I took me longer to get through this book than I does some 200+ pages books. Even though this should have/be considered a "fast read" to was anything BUT that for me. Written very passively, I felt like I being force-fed this story; and a little too over-the-top and unrealistic in plot. This is the kind of book that would have scared my girlfriend years ago into not going out on a date...thinking that the girl she was going to wanted to take her to bed right after the first meeting. Bleah! If that's the kind of premises you like, go for it; otherwise, I'll have to recommend to skip; which, sadly, is what I had to do for a lot of the book to get to the end of the story. (Something, I might add, I try very hard not> to do!) I will not be reading any more in this series.
Can't wait to read the 2nd book to this story I couldn't believe that I had finished it so so soon. I was hooked from the beginning and can't wait to see what happens next with Jenna and Kris
