So, in five decades of reading this is only the second manga that I enjoyed, and this one far better than I enjoyed Akira, this omnibus covers three volumes that show everything I love (and hate) about Gants. Let's start with hate the almost inhuman treatment of the depiction and general character reactions to rape, female nudity and overt sexism, it's like the creator s has the mind of a 14 year odal boy, but it maybe that juvenile mindset that helped influenced is long-form plotting, although on the face of it the book is about crazy mission to crazy interval, and then back two crazy mission and so on, for me it's really about the very slow, but compelling drip fed truth of the Gantz reality and of Gantz itself. This omnibus sees the series transition from Phase I to Phase II, a things are still mind-blown good! 8 out of 12, Four Star read.

Yes, that is a panda. This book right!

Halfway through the series, the status quo gets a big shake-up. Members of the Gantz team finally reach the 100-point level and get to exploit the bonus reward menu. The vampires strike and get pulled into a situation they aren't expecting. And for the first time, the Gantz team finds themselves on an assignment outside Tokyo.
The new situation does undercut some of the drama and thrills of the early volumes, but it does open a new level of the game. And the action is relentless and exciting, even if the consequences are now less dire.
The usual fan service pin-ups feel even ickier when a graphic rape sequence is thrown into the main story.

One of the best volumes so far, if not the best.
After a very successful hunt, the gantz' team can finally spend their scores. Difficult decisions were made. I don't agree with Kurono's decision but it made the narrative more interesting.
The vampires are more presence in the story and that is making it more interesting.
A lot of things are going on and the battles are getting more epic.
Really fun. I'm ready to jump into the next volume.

Again, after seven volumes you know what you're here for, tons of actions and violence, interesting twists and turns. Everytimes you think it start to turn in circle, you get a nice surprise and its goes somewhere unexpected. Not the deepest of story, but a good entertainments! I like it!

November 3, 2021Much of this volume is dedicated to Kuronos life after he is freed from the game and these are the most interesting parts. It’s an interesting conundrum, being freed at the cost of your memories of your time in the game. Also, there are still vampires for some reason.
This also starts an arc involving fellow players In Dotonbori, and they’re all drug addicts who treat the games like, well, a video game. The monsters in this are amazing, with an early one being particularly disturbing. This arc also brings back the flippant, blatant sexuality that really feels out of place in a very disturbing and pointlessly fucked up way. Not only are they flippant with bystander lives, but they also… use a certain alien. It’s just gross.
So yeah, it’s more grants. Oddly compelling and intense sci-fi horror with some of the most shockingly juvenile tendencies I’ve ever seen.

The story is getting wonkier with this added new villain subplot with the zombies. Like why? I really love the art in Gantz, and some of the characters are great. The fighting is awesome and the monsters are fire, but the writing is meh in some parts. I get it’s not about that but still. And big ups to my man Kurono. RIP king, well until they revive you probably

Feels like the plot should be wrapping up, but we got a long way to go and I’m not too sure I like the direction.

This series is all over the place and although I am really enjoying it, I am hoping we get more answers rather than just adding more and more elements into the story.

Chapters 215 to 247
With this volumen, I feel that everything is becoming more repetitive, just the scale of the action sequences are bigger and bigger. For example, we have now 2 Gantz, one from Tokio and another from Kyoto. I will make a pause for the rest of 2026, let see next year.

the story has gone from fan service and just “i’m 15 and this is badass” to genuine plot and amazing character development. some parts are still just shit and pointless but the really good parts are REALLY good, i really wish he’d get better at his fight choreography throughout panels but ill take what i can get. i can very very easily see this series being in my top 5 by the end of it all. :p

It is amazing how this author, writer, and illustrator, Hiroya Oku, keeps writing these books with an original story that keeps you waiting for the next episode. The stories are unique and very captivating.
