At the end of “Gone But Not Missed," we left Nathan and Lily on the boardwalk in Long Beach, New York. Weeks later we find them apart – physically by hundreds of miles and emotionally by very different views of their relationship. Lily is haunted by the kidnapping, consumed by thoughts of him. Nathan is burdened with an inept partner, who may ruin his career as an NYPD detective, just as it's beginning. Will Nathan be able to solve the mystery of why his partner's family is harassing him? And solve the last robbery case he may ever be assigned? But the biggest mystery in his life is Lily.
A R Kennedy lives in Long Beach, New York, with her two pups. She works hard to put food on the floor for them. As her favorite T-shirt says, ‘I work so my dog can have a better life'. She’s an avid traveler. But don’t worry. While she’s away, her parents dote on their grand-puppies even more than she does. Her writing is a combination of her love of travel, animals, and the journey we all take to find ourselves.
It’s been a frustrating read, but I’m starting the 3rd book in hopes it gets better. Lilly is annoying and Nathan is obtuse. Who needs a busybody like Annie running your life! Is the author waiting until Greg gets out of prison, so Lilly can run off with him??
The detective work was a little too pat. I have no idea why the whole business with Lilly was in the book. All it added to the book was a lot of confusion.
This was a really quick read for me that I grabbed one night when I didn't have the energy to start a new book with new characters. I had really liked the premise of the first book but after reading this, I wish the author stopped there.
These two people are definitely a couple brought together by circumstance. They might love eachother, but they are far from in love. I can appreciate her having Stockholm syndrome and being messed up after all she's been through but, what about him? Why keep so much from her? These two have so many secrets, that its ridiculous. Neither one if them seem to know anything about eachother besides what brought them together.
As for the mystery part, which was far from interesting, I was onto all the leads hundreds of pages before this "detective". I guessed the lead on the photographer and event venue after the second mention of both. Although it was set up pretty originally with all the twists, it disinterested me. And I hate that they never explained why the partner shot himself.
If I do end up reading the third in the series, it will only be because I find it free again and I get pretty bored with books. I would read another book by this author with another premise, I just wish she didn't make this a series. It's kinda killing the first book.

Detective Nathan Miccalli worked diligently until the kidnapper was caught and she was found. Now obsessed with wanting her to put that behind her, Nathan constantly checks on her. He wants a closer friendship, but does she?
Lily still remembers all of her capture, nor can she keep her kidnapper out of her mind either, making this new relationship difficult at times.
Other complications arise when Nathan's partner turns against him during a case, and he is placed on probation and sent to another department where he finds more similarities on cases that his partner may be involved.
A slow mystery and romance story that seems to go on longer than I like, and the reason I gave a 3-star rating.
I was really distracted by the book format. Instead of chapters the book switched to a different chapter? for each character. Then the character would have a few paragraphs and then on to another character. Really strange. I thought this was written more for young readers, really simple writing. It was also really drug out I kept thinking get on with it already.
Very repetitious. Better suited for teens/young audits
this all got a little old. characters constantly misreading each other. the main character is stuck on an event that happened a year previously through the e.tire book.
I was initially intrigued by this book because it was supposed to take place in Long Beach, NY. Unfortunately, there was little or no action in Long Beach. I enjoyed the book, but it probably would have been better had I read the first in the series.
There are three books in this debut series by A. R. Kennedy, and I am reading them straight through. I will review the series when I have finished #3. Suffice it to say I have given the first two books 5 star ratings.
