Rate this book
Ryan Davenport eats, sleeps, and breathes for work. The drive to achieve partner status in his prestigious law firm has required his total commitment at the expense of any semblance of a personal life, and a relationship is the last thing he's looking for until he meets Kaitlin Salinger. Ryan and Kaitlin couldn't be more different: he comes from a prominent and close-knit LDS family, while she is an orphan with a shockingly painful past. Despite their differences, the two are pulled into a whirlwind romance that fills a void in each of their lives. But Kaitlin is the first serious threat to Ryan's aspirations, and as Ryan struggles to find a balance between his professional and personal lives, he finds himself standing at a crossroads. When a tragic turn of events forces him to reevaluate his path, will he be prepared to sacrifice everything for love?

I was very confused when I started this book because I actually read the back cover on this one and it says, "Alex Davenport eat, sleeps, and breathes for work. etc etc Alex and Kaitlin... etc etc Alex struggles etc etc." I kept thinking, "WHO is Alex?! This book's MC is Ryan!" Once I got over the name on the cover being different than the name in the story, I was able to relax and enjoy it.

Ryan is a very determined and focused man. He really does love being a lawyer and enjoys climbing the ladder to the top. He has no plans for a relationship, but then he meets Kaitlin. She is a very driven woman, one who is used to looking out for herself. They are so similar in some ways and so very different in others. Kaitlin is an orphan and really seems to crave a normal family life. I loved watching her build those types of relationships with Ryan's family, especially Anne. Life is all about priorities, as they both learned.

I love a story that shows me what happens, instead of telling me. For example, there was talk of Kaitlin being a bad cook and some kind of toaster incident, but that's all that was mentioned--I wanted details! That would have made a great scene. Another time, Anne and Kaitlin were talking and Anne describes what she observed about Ryan and Kaitlin at an anniversary/Christmas party. I would have loved seeing that unfold, instead of being told about it later.

That said, I did enjoy the way the characters interacted and the way the events played out. Some were fairly predictable, but I enjoyed the journey nonetheless.

Content: no language or violence; very, very mild kissing; this is a Christian/LDS book with references. I didn't find it preachy, but there were a lot of references. Clean!

Oh how fun it is to read about a sweet romance!
Add in a few rocky moments, some contention, and a couple of kissing scenes...
And you have the makings of one terrific read!

Ryan is all about work! Some say he doesn't take time to date because he is "married to his work."

But when he meets Kaitlin he wants to spend every spare minute with her...sadly he doesn't have many spare minutes.

Kaitlin comes from a painful past and feels that Ryan is "too good to be true."

She is willing to go along with his busy schedule, that is, until his schedule becomes even more busy...then she starts to question if their relationship will have a chance to go anywhere.

Whirlwind weekend romances can only go so far.

When a terrible accident threatens the relationship will Ryan finally understand what he needs to do?

SO. SO. SO. GOOD!
LOVED It!

LDS Fiction. This contemporary romance touched on the topic of priorities, and choosing love and family over a career. This was a fun, fast read about two people who fall in love, and how their relationship deteriorates when a demanding law career becomes the first priority without the hero even realizing it. When tragedy strikes, they both learn what is most important and must choose to fight for love…or lose it.

That's a big blunder to make when the leading male character is misnamed on the back cover write up LOL!!!

All in all an easy read, tho I had a hard time with the believability as in the beginning Ryan is so attentive and thoughtful and before long it's almost like he doesn't care anymore, yet claims to. Almost wish Kaitlin would have walked away sooner. Good twist tho, and the message of forgiveness & patience is prevalent in this book. A good read.

I did like this book. I liked the characters right away. I give is book 3 stars though instead of four because of the crazy fights they get in. It's not myna cup of tea to read big relationship fights like that. I don't mind fights, but these were a little much. And I was confused several times in this book - timelines were confusing and people's names were confusing, like his family members. Even the back of the book had the wrong name for the main character. BUT - it was good.

Romance between a work-driven lawyer and a highly successful public relations representative. Although he comes from a loving family and she comes from a lot of pain and grief, they forge a love that seems headed towards togetherness until tragedy strikes. Things happen that are a little far-fetched but the overall message of love and family is a good one.

3.5 stars. I liked the book, But... I felt like it skipped over a lot of details. I like reading “romance” novels because I enjoy the falling in Love part, but that was just kind of brushed over in this story. And they fought a lot, which I tend to find difficult to believe for when a couple is dating and not even married yet, but maybe that’s just me. ;)

Very career-minded Ryan Davenport gets a real wake-up call when he meets Kaitlin Salinger. What seems like a dream relationship rapidly becomes a rocky one. You want to strangle Ryan--as we want to do with most men who just don't get it. Happy ending though!

This was a good book. But I have to say that I have a hard time believing that a character like Stephanie really exists.

This is a good story but I spent most of it wanting to smack Ryan upside the head.

This book was so captivating, I couldn't put it down! For most of it anyway, but I'll get to that in a sec. The writing had me completely entranced and I loved reading it and the romance was so sweet! I adored this book for quite a while. That is, until the "tragedy strikes." Ugh. They really overuse that term, agreed? It's practically on the back of every book in existence. So I just kind of overlooked it and went ahead reading. Glad I did, it was a wonderful read for the first 3/4 of it. Anyway, if you're okay with really sad parts, I strongly recommend this book! It is amazing and you will love it. But if you're an innocent young'un like me and have a hard time reading sad things... hmm. I don't know what to tell you I guess. It's a great book, but the last section is sad. Maybe I missed the entire message, (I might've. I was kind of sitting under my own little raincloud) but I really didn't feel that sense of hope. It was quite the opposite actually. In truth, I felt more hopeless. Like nothing you could do would change the situation. Which is true in this book. Agh. I hate that feeling.

Super simple read (total 90's book). Started reading this as I was being stern with my Ryan and low and behold the main fellow's name is Ryan (that grudge did not last very long). A little surprised/embarrassed how close to home this one hit, I cried non-stop through the second half. I can't remember the last time I felt vulnerable like that during a read. I became attached to these characters quickly. I found myself left with an increased desire to realize what I have and love it, appreciate it, and live for it. Beautiful story of making happiness out of a hard situation and being grateful for what you have. Perfect reminder that you don't have to dash out with negative emotions, even when you are treated unfairly by people or situations. We have enough love within us to overcome any of those hardships. Also made me realize how giving is better than getting in any relationship... and everyone needs someone through recovery.

Waiting for You is not only an awesome love story, but it brings to the reader's attention some things that are really important in life. I liked the dialogue. First I was laughing and then crying. The author has a cute sense of humor. I highly recommend this entertaining and enjoyable book.

Loved this book and couldn't put it down. Priorities are a big focus in this novel along with the growing relationship of ryan davenport and Kaitlin. I loved the closeness of the dabs port family, especially in contrast to Kaitlin's family or lack of. Well rounded novel.

It was a cute story but the dialogue and the word choice did not fit well. Some of the things they said or phrases the author used were very cliche. The ending of the story was very cliche, very predictable. Something good if you want something light and fluffy, but has no depth.

Clean romance about a workaholic (very aptly described) from a "perfect" Mormon family and a lady who has no family and tries to be a good person. No swearing. Descriptions of violent memories and injuries.

I did a lot of scan-reading in this book (probably theough 3/4ths of the book) and scan-reading means an automatic two-star rating. The last part of the book was better than the first, meaning it had a nice ending.
