He’s enigmatic, compassionate, generous and intelligent. Likes classical music just as much as kicking ass and knows his way around a kitchen, though he’d never admit it. His Samurai swords are an extension of his personality and a lifetime of heartache has taught him to wield them unfailingly. He’s gorgeous yet humble and can’t see past his own scars.
Lucien feels deeply for his chosen family and is absolutely worthy of love.
Sounds perfect, right?
The only problem is that Lucien is a character in a novel.
The Dark Riders is one of the best selling paranormal romance series of all time, and it was destined to have eight installments, one for each of the brothers-in-arms. Lucien’s story was supposed to be book eight, where he’d finally find true love and live happily ever after. Except the writer died before his story was published. Worse yet, book seven was finished by some poser that thought killing off one of the main characters would bring a more modern twist to the finale.
Chloe is absolutely devastated by the news that one of her “friends” is dead and that the series is canceled. She has a quasi-nervous-breakdown at work and ends up falling asleep in the lounge. Her midnight escape from the locked office lands her in a deserted parking lot after hours where an unseen force has been waiting. Just. For. Her...
This supernatural assault strands her in an alternate reality where the Dark Riders are real and the horrible ending created by the publisher hasn’t happened yet.
Chloe decides that she’s been brought there to fix all of the storylines and tries her best to convince the monsters around her that she’s there to help. She ends up mangling their plots more often than not and now must race the waxing moon to find a way home before Lucien accidentally falls in love with her instead of his destined mate. The Fates are working against her as Chaos interferes and the truth about what really dragged her over threatens to destroy everything that Chloe holds dear.
I was born and raised near Las Vegas, NV and grew up dreaming of rain. I also dreamt of heroes and villains and the women that inspired the best and worst in them.
It seemed like every book I read as a teen was a classic bodice-ripper. Wimpy-virgin-heroine always making bad choices and getting herself in trouble, cue the macho hero, yadda yadda yadda. Those books are what inspired me to write my own stories, not because I loved them, but because I constantly found myself tossing them aside and fuming. I would think of all the ways the story would have been better: if she had just picked up the sword and stabbed the bad guy when she had the chance...
I LOVE writing, and I love the new direction that fiction has taken over the last decade. So many amazing, strong female leads now! And so many new writers that finally have a voice in the indie publishing community.
I was blessed with a wonderful husband who supports my passion for writing and reading, and who really helped me focus my desire to publish my work. When I'm not busy enjoying my daughter and husband, I'm usually developing a new story idea, or sneaking in some time with my favorite authors.
I'm a bit of a hermit, they called it being "shy" when I was a kid, but I love hearing from fans. I also love ferrets, hiking, chili dark chocolate, strong coffee, nursing mamas, and rain.
Back in the day, when I was young'n reading Harry Potter and LOTR fanfiction like it was going out of style, I remember a very prominent recurring trope that I'm sure many readers are all too familiar with, the ever infamous Self-Insert Fic. Usually written by young women that featured said young woman herself being magically transported into the books in which she so admired, the story would proceed to follow this young woman's characterized self going on adventures, being fought over by all the male characters, or simply winning the heart of her favorite one.
This story reads a bit like that. Except in this case, the young woman quite literally inserts herself into the story, corporeal form and all. But that's not an insult. I feel like many people who read this story will have a thing or two to say like "Mary Sue" or "Female Power Fantasy" which a heavy sigh and a roll of their eyes, but, to be perfectly honest, I'm kind of over this whole Mary Sues are the root of all evil thing. And I'm really over the idea that it's somehow a bad thing for females to have power fantasies. So I wasn't bothered by the initial set up of this story.
Aside from that, it reads like a pretty standard paranormal/fantasy romance. Our wouldn't-be heroine is awkward and hard headed and oblivious to her love interest's affections. As is our love interest. Both characters are rife with self-loathing and can't see past their own insecurities to realize they're both stupidly in love with each other. Classic rom-com / rom-dram stuff, you know.
All in all, it's a nice little story. I think it could have been better if it was longer, if the characters were more fleshed out, especially the characters-within-characters we meet once the MC lands in their world. I would have liked, perhaps, little excerpts from the "books" thrown in at the beginnings of each chapter so we'd have a little more insight into who they were, and therefore feel a stronger attachment to them.
But then of course, we come to find out . Which was interesting enough, though it did oversimplify things a bit, I would have liked more drawn out mystery. Like, is this place really real or the MC in a coma and imagining all this or what? And for the ending to, perhaps, be left open to interpretation or something like that. It was pretty predictable and obvious, but still, at the end of the day it was a nice little romance novel. And Lucien sounds pretty hot in a creepy demonic way. I would love to see someone draw fanart of him.
Just so you know, I haven't read any of the authors other books. I picked up Fangirl_15 from Net Galley because I loved the synopsis. I didn't expect to be giving the book 5 well-worth-them stars.
To me Fangirl_15 sounded a little Matrix-y mixed with something that JR Ward would write. A delve into the world of a supernatural Brotherhood and lets face it, who hasn't wanted to dive into a story and make sure the hero had a better ending than what the author wrote.
I wasn't expecting what I read. Chloe is average everything. Neither tall, nor small, neither large nor thin, neither pretty nor unpretty. Her life is simple, basic and without excitement. Except when her favourite Dark Riders books get published. The bad news for Chloe is the Series author has died and the latest installment has been finished by a nobody author with average writing. To make things worse the writer writes an ending that Chloe believes shouldn't have been written in that certain way.
A string of strange events occur. One where Chloe dreams of being with her book boyfriend of the series, Lucien. While his physical looks sound quite horrible to look at, Chloe has fallen in love with him because of his beautiful eyes, his heart of gold, and his compassion towards his brothers and their previous plights. Eventually Chloe wakes up from one dream and realises she IS actually in the fictional world that the author has created. Astonished, she meets one of the 'Brothers' and gets taken to their mansion.
From here on in Chloe sees a way of enjoying herself while helping the Brotherhood in their next endeavour. Because, well, she's going to wake up in the real world any moment, right?
Uh-uh. It never happens. Her path is clear, her task is in hand. She must right the wrongs of the plot holes and the storyline. Little does Chloe know that her own story is pivotal to how the ending really happens.
Firstly, I have to comment on the writing. I don't often get on with 3rd person perspective but it worked so well with this story. Also, I loved Chloe as a character. She has her own flaws, she has a fair amount of self-doubt. But her intentions are so from the heart that you can't not like her. Lucien also came across as someone who you could easily judge because of his demonic looks but he's a haunted, tortured soul who deserves to be loved.
The excellent side cast of many made me laugh and feel appreciation for how they treated our heroine. I wonder what the Dark Riders books are really like. After reading this I honestly would want to have read the books myself!
With a good, steady pace and lots of very dramatic, dare I say it, romantic tension the ending is one I didn't expect but somehow made sense. This was an ending I was happy about!
Definitely pick this one up if you love supernatural, spurned lovers, tortured heroes and an average heroine who changes the entire game plan!
If you have never wished to leave your ho-hum run-of-the-mill life, if you do not read to escape the real world for a little while, if you have never been disappointed by the way a book series or even television series has ended, this book may not be for you. If, however, you wanted to go to Hogwart's or marry a vampire, if you would love to be Charley Davidson's best friend, Cookie, or date a Luxen, this book may be for you.
As soon as I read the blurb, I knew I wanted to read this book. Extra bonus points to the author for coming up with such an original plot. And what makes the story even better is the great writing and wonderful characters.
I found Chloe to be completely believable. I understand the sadness she felt when her favorite author died and how her book series, so important to Chloe, spiraled out of control in the inept hands of another writer. And when these characters who mean so much to her, distrust her and treat her like an interloper, I can understand her pain. I thought the author did an excellent job of capturing the emotions of a girl suddenly thrown into a fictional world, trying to get her bearings, and having her heart broken by the character she has always loved. He is now with her in the flesh, and she believes she can't have him.
The mate bonds are interesting, how each mate becomes stronger and better once they have found their perfect match. I also liked that the women weren't catty; they tried to help Chloe fit in and even invited her to go out shopping with them.
Lucien is a wonderfully damaged, irresistible, book boyfriend. His desire to have Chloe is always at odds with his belief that he deserves no one. He is willing to suffer at the hands of a ruthless monster to keep Chloe safe. My favorite quote in the book is from him about Chloe.
What grieves you? Tell me and I will destroy it for you.
Now that book boyfriend is a keeper. I always imagine the mansion the Dark Riders live in looking like this:
I (almost literally) devoured this novel. Something about the narrative, the structure, had me hooked - line and sinker - and the only thing that stopped me reading it in one sitting was that would have meant me finishing it at 2am and I had work the next day... As it was, I got up and finished it before going to work (yay for late starts).
It is hard to pinpoint precisely what made me enjoy this story so much, but I think that personal wish-fulfillment played a small role. I mean, what reader doesn't dream of meeting the characters of their favourite book? Hanging out with them, etc. What this story does differently though, and what stops it coming across as Mary-Sue fanfic (over a non-existent - alas - series) is that in reality the Dark Riders Brotherhood are damned scary. My only complaint here is that we are introduced to all 8 of them at the start, via a sort of light info-dump (since Chloe is familiar with their characters) but only a few get to really feature in the story: Draken the almost-7-foot vampire, Raphish the (fake) Scottish werewolf, and of course the haunted, broken and beautiful Lucien who was denied his chance to shine by the untimely death of the original author (Sojourne) and had the series cut-short by a thriller-hack-writer. Anyway, I have digressed, Chloe finds herself dumped into a world she barely understands, with people she knows intimate details about - including their dark secrets - but whom neither know nor trust her, and not only that, but the one that she is most drawn to is destined to find his true mate within the next five days.
So saying, some parts of the plot are somewhat predictable - but others are utterly and completely unexpected. Chloe is a brilliant heroine - with her various insecurities - yet also her outspoken courage that shines through at unexpected moments, she is delightfully well-rounded as a character. Lucien is just... well, I've always had a bit of a thing for heroes that don't understand their own worth.
Anyway, aside from some odd typos - mainly usages of the wrong words, and a couple of weird spellings - this is an absolutely engrossing read and I really, really loved it. Something in it sang to my soul.

Wow, I'm not really sure where to start my review of Fangirl_15. This book was an introduction into Aimee Roseland (That authors) writing style and I have to say... I liked it!
I wasn't expecting to enjoy Fangirl_15 as much as I did. In fact I wasn't expecting the book to be the way it was, I was expecting something else but really can't explain what I was expecting.. Just not this I guess. I know this is a confusing review - I'm sorry!!
The best way to describe this story without giving anything away is to read the synopsis. Chloe is so much more than you realise and I really liked her. I liked her thoughts, her way of dealing with things and her insecurities. At first she came across as almost prudish and maybe boring. But then I realised how wrong I was.
So many of us who like to read have read series's by authors and not wanted them to end, maybe hated how the book ended or what the author wrote or maybe even wanted to change them. Fangirl_15 is unique. I have NEVER read another book like it and don't think many authors could capture the journey as well as Aimee has.
I loved the characters, Lucian is again another unique character. We are always filled with HOT males and it made a refreshing change for him to be 'different'.
I loved this story and the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars and not the full 5 is because I found the ending chapters (Where things start to build up and are revealed) a little confusing. There was A LOT of information and maybe in my opinion a little too much. I felt it was a little dragged out. Everything is answered though in the end, no cliffhangers etc and I was pleased with the ending.
I gave Fangirl_15 4 out of 5 stars, there is VERY low 'adult' contend and would say that this was more of a YA than a New Adult for me, more mature teens I feel would be ok reading this. Its a great adventure though and beautifully written!
Wow. OMG. Is that blurb for real? This just takes Fangirling to a whole new level. Will I read this or not? I will. Just because I can. It's a New Adult title though..
A "Neverending Story," built in a Neverending story like world. This book has it all. True love, soul mates, destiny, desire, revenge, torment, brotherhood- it's a beautiful paradox of a story within a story! An absolute must read for fans of The Black Dagger Brotherhood and any romantic paranormal novel.
I'm really digging the story line. Aimee has taken a book addict's fantasy and turned it into reality for her character in Fangirl. We meet Chloe who is a bit of a hermit. She feels like she doesn't belong and she really does not have any friends(except for coworkers who are her friends on facebook). She is a diehard fan of the Dark Riders series. When the author dies in a freak accident the publisher decided to hire a new author the finish the series. Chloe feels that the book 7 ended the wrong way that the new author totally missed what the original author was doing. One of the main characters was up next to get his happy ending.
Little did Chloe know she was just about to do that and enter a world that she thought did not exist.
This story line for me was original and refreshing. I have read a book that was not similar but had the same premises. Girl has a favorite book girl get's to live in the books world. But that one was a YA book so that doesn't count lol It did give me that Black Dagger Brotherhood vibe but I will take that as a nod to JR Ward. There were some laugh out loud moments in the book my favorite quote or scene was when Chloe is first escorted to her room and she see the bed and say's "He want's a lady in the street but a freak in the bed" lol. One line from one of my favorite Usher song's.
Aimee also showed us a side where when you enter another world. Your not going to be welcomed with open arms. I really liked that the Dark Riders didn't trust Chloe in the beginning. It made it feel real and not let's all welcome the newbie. It took time for the guys and their mates to trust her. One thing that really frustrated me was the fact that Chloe with good intentions to help Lucien find his mate did not realize that maybe she is his mate. If that was obvious then the book would have ended when she first got to the alternate New York lol. But that's just me being impatient lol.
I did like that Aimee also shared why Chloe felt out of place in the real world and how vulnerable she really is. By Chloe being vulnerable did not make her a pushover at all. She did not hide nor did she run away(even though she did want to a few time). She stood her ground, by doing that she started to gain the trust that she wanted by the Dark Riders.
One thing I did not see was the ending. Wow what a plot twist. It answered a whole bunch of questions I had when I was reading the book. I had a couple of Ahhh moments :-)
I was finished in no time with the book and i'm really curious about the other Dark Riders back stories. I know she touched base on them through Chloe but I would love to read more about them.
But excellent story. I didn't want the book to end which in turn had me scratching my head as to what to read next lol.
Fangirl_15 is listed on NetGalley as New Adult/Science Fiction/Fantasy. Is New Adult automatically romance? Because Fan-Girl is certainly a paranormal romance with a little satire mixed in. I think.
OK - so here is the gist of this novel: Chloe is a fan (fanatical) of The Dark Rider series of a novels, but the author dies before finishing the penultimate novel. The seventh novel is finished by someone else and in a manner that devastates Chloe. Not only that, but the series is being concluded before the eighth and final book that was promised because the author's notes and projections were destroyed in the accident that killed her.
Chloe is both angry and distraught at this travesty of the author's original intentions. She dreams of her favorite character, Lucian, the demon with a heart of gold. Poor Lucian will be left stranded without ever finding his mate.
Then a late-night attack in the parking lot of her office leaves Chloe unconscious, and when she awakes, she finds herself in another dimension--the world of the Dark Riders. Unable to determine whether she is dreaming or suffering from brain damage, Chloe must navigate the world of her heroes, and she knows more about the world and the future of that world than do the characters themselves.
Determined to help Lucian find his mate, Chloe realizes that she is not only in fan-fiction-love with the demon with a forked tongue, but really loves him.
The first part of the novel is kind of fun. Most people at some time or another have had a crush on a character in a book or a film and will recognize Chloe's outrage and devastation when things don't go the way she hoped and expected. And who wouldn't love the opportunity to reconfigure the story line in a more pleasing (our own) way....
In a way, the novel is a kind of manga without visuals, and Chloe is able to influence the action which is an engaging premise.
The conclusion, however, was very weak, muddled, and kind of freaky in a H.P. Lovecraftian way that didn't fit with the rest of the book.
(My favorite character is Al, the butler; unfortunately he has the smallest role. If I could interfere, I'd give a Al a great back-story and a bigger chunk of action.)
I'm not usually a fan of "romance novels," but I enjoyed this one and loved the premise of interfering with the plot and interacting with the characters.

Wow this book had such a weak start that I was thinking this would be the first book I wanted to stop reading but I had to finish so I can write a review and it was bad enough it's a week late from when it was supposed to be done by.
Chloe Wright is a MAJOR Fangirl over the The Dark Rider Series which is paranormal romance. When the author of the series dies from an unfortunate accident, publishers get some amateur author to finish the book Soujourn left off before she died by killing one of the main characters which sends Chloe and every other fan in hysteria! It also gets worse when the amateur author is not going to write the last book in the series that Sojourn intended to write and it was going to be Chloe's favorite Rider of all: Lucien. He's the half demon and half human with tattoo all over his body and face and can frighten a person but not Chloe. Chloe feels a connection with him and all the other characters in the book. When Chloe can't take the emotions of the series ending at work, she takes a nap in the break room and wakes up when the store hours are closed. She makes her way home but doesn't make it to her car when she's knocked unconscious into the The Dark Riders World. Now she gets to meet all the characters and try to tie some loose ends that Sojourn was unable to do in her last book. However there's one problem, the Dark Riders and her mate don't trust her and the fact that she knows stuff about them makes her a threat if they don't keep an eye on her. The only people who don't see her that way is Irina, the one she saved from the death the amateur author wrote and Lucien, who can't stop thinking about her.
Like I said, the beginning was really rough to read through. Chloe seemed like a loner and pathetic since she had a meltdown at work because she couldn't believe her favorite series was ending. However once she met the brothers and mates it got better. I love that they hated her in the beginning because in a way, it made her stronger and less pathetic because she got to stand up for herself. I love that Lucien and Chloe got together because they needed each other. They both believe they that their shortcomings doesn't make them worthy of love and luckily both convince each other that it's not true. I love all the Raphish scenes! He's such a goofy, big brother to Chloe and I would love to read more of these characters.
I loved the premise of this book, but the execution fell short. First the good things. Chloe is the number one fan of a paranormal series, who is in love with the one of the main characters who hasn't found his mate yet. The author dies unable to finish the series and give Lucien his mate, so Chloe becomes obsessed to the point where it is all she can think about in her daily humdrum life. Next thing you know, Bam, lightening strikes, and she is thrown right into the middle of the actual novels. I love these characters, as their characteristics and their stories borrow bits and pieces from well known series out there, such as black dagger brotherhood, lords of the underworld, immortals after dark, demonica and more. Having read most of these books, I love that the author is basically paying homage to the authors that came before her and their amazing stories. That brings you into the paranormal/fantasy mindset and makes the story seem exciting.
The problem I had with it was Chloe's personality. She was too annoying and whiny. Oh boohoo, I want everyone to like me because I love them so much and they don't. I understand she was meant to be insecure by nature, but it just got on my nerves. It would have worked much better if she was just a fun loving, go with the flow type person, instead of literally cowering in the closet. The other negative for me is how Lucien supposedly loved her right away. I understand that this is paranormal and he felt the mating bond, etc but come on! They barely even speak, have almost no interaction and he is so in love! At least she knows about him from reading the books. But to him she is a total stranger! This book would have really benefited from some flirting, kissing, anything remotely steamy or suggestive. If its trying to mimic previous paranormal series, those books have it in spades.
That said, I still liked it. Actually, when things went crazy toward the end, and Chloe's real involvement came out, it finally felt like a real paranormal, where all sorts of crazy stuff happens and the truth comes out. It may have been too much for the last 15 pages though. Better to have spread it out a bit and to let the reader start suspecting her real background before. Instead of having it all thrown at you in the end.
***I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
(I received a free copy of this book, through NetGalley, in exchange for a review).
(This review may contain spoilers - also some references to self-harm).
This was a plotline I could really get behind. Being an avid reader myself, I'm currently in love with a whole range of fictional characters... and I can definitely understand how frustrated Chloe felt with the ending of her favourite book series.
I felt myself being drawn into this world and the characters involved. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the characters in the world that Chloe 'fell' into didn't immediately start trusting her. I felt that was very realistic and although I hadn't 'met' the other characters in the same way as Chloe had, I found myself believing in their relationships and their sense of family.
There was a nice variety of different types of characters, too. It was good that vampires weren't the only being in the world.
I do think that Chloe ran the risk of taking over the story a bit too much, but I didn't mind her as a character. The biggest problem I really had was the fact that Chloe was a cutter. I know that's a real issue, but the line really resonated badly with me... and I didn't think that part of her character was explored in the way it really should have been.
I did particularly like Naja as a character. I would have liked to see some of the story written from her POV... actually, a lot of the other characters, too. I felt that some of the women weren't as well-developed as they could have been, particularly in a scene at the end, where they're just referred to collectively.
Although there was some insta!love on Lucian's side, I actually felt that worked for his personality and with his past. It was also interesting how this book didn't follow the usual criteria for most romances, where the two main characters jump into bed together at the very first opportunity.
I think this is a world I would very much like to see more of in the future. The ending was a bit confusing and I would have liked to know a bit more detail about what was going on with Chloe then. But I did enjoy reading about the world and its characters and I would certainly be interested in checking out other books by this author in the future.
(ARC given by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review)
The greatest strength of this book is how meta it is: an almost obsessive fangirl of a famous romantic urban fantasy series (coughBrotherhoodoftheBlackDaggercough) lives a boring life, wishing she lived in the books she so much loves. Her favourite author dies, leaving another author nobody likes, to complete the series and ruining it forever. And, then, she wakes up inside her beloved series, and proceeds to impress everyone with her secret knowledge of the world, gets adopted into the family and a life of luxury, and ends up finding her amazing powers (and romance with her favourite male character (coughZsadistcough) and never being the victim ever again.
As far as wish-fulfillment fantasies go this is the typical one (a better life + superpowers + wealth + a clique + hooking up with favourite character + being seen as beautiful), but I actually found myself liking how it was pulled off. Now, I know a lot of readers will be turned off by what amounts to Brotherhood of the Black Dagger self-insertion fanfiction (let us not kid ourselves, it is what this is, to the point where I was already addressing the book characters by their BoTBD counterpart's names in my head -- despite the nod to the Dark Hunter series). However, it is still written in a way that I could not fault the writer for, and I still empathized with the main character - certain parts were heartwrenching (I can totally relate to seeing someone taking a favourite book series of yours, and handing it to someone who basically ruins it while desperately trying to get more money out of it - the Chronicles of Amber comes to mind.)
I think the author tapped into a very specific aspect of being a fan of a series of books and managed to put into words things that we all felt before, and that is, I feel, the strong suit of the book.
Ultimately, I think I would recommend this to BotBD fans, because if you take away that particular aspect of the novel, it ends up losing most of its entertaining value, and you miss most of the nods to the main series.
I signed up to read and review, FANGIRL_15, through the New Adult Book Club group here on Goodreads, in exchange for an honest review. Now, I've been a fanfic reader for a few years and have read the 'author insertion' plot a hundred times, but this one just sounded intriguing and fresh to me.
Told in third person, the book begins with the main character, Chloe, freaking out at work because one of the main characters in her favorite book series, has been killed off. The original author has died and the publishing company hired another writer to finish the series. Promised two more books, she is even more upset when she finds out this book is the last one, and the series has been canceled, making it impossible for her to see what happens to her favorite character, the subject of the eighth book. Given a break by her boss, Chloe falls asleep in the lounge at work and has a realistic dream where she is included in the series. Waking after dark to an eerily, empty office, she walks out into the parking lot and suddenly feels that something terrifying is about to happen. She's 'attacked' and falls unconscious and, when she wakes up, realizes that she is in the book series' world. Not sure what's happening, at first, she soon decides that she's in the fictional world to help fix the ending before the characters dies. The characters, known as the 'Dark Riders', are a group of eight paranormal men who have become a family and, along with their wives, all live together in a big house. Taken to the house, she finds the 'Riders' mourning the probable death of one of the wives. Since Chloe read the last book, she knows how to save her and, once she does, the group divides on whether Chloe is one of the good guys, or one of the bad.
An absorbing, paranormal story promoted as a New Adult novel, FANGIRL_15 by Aimee Roselind, has mystery, intrigue, romance, adventure, and excitement. It's a novel anyone, at any age, would enjoy.
This novel combines two of my favorite things: paranormal romances and meta fiction. Here, Aimee Roseland has her protagonist experience her biggest literary letdown. Those who are avid readers know what it's like to be dedicated to a series to the point of fangirl-dom. However, the worst nightmare of any fan is that the creator of their favorite medium passed which is exactly what happens to Chloe. This is something a lot of Game of Thrones fans are severely worried about which grounds this book in reality. Well, sort of. Because Chloe doesn't just mourn the ending of her favorite book series that gets incomplete because a jackweed pedantic author ruined the series by cutting it short and veering the plotline off course.
But it doesn't end there. Chloe gets transported into her favorite fictional universe. She thinks it's a dream, until she finds out that all of her favorite characters hate her. It's both a dream and nightmare for every book lover. Especially since she gets to meet the fictional man of her dreams, Lucien.
This is a must read for anyone who is in love with the paranormal genre even if it has some of it's shortcomings. It pokes fun of itself while maintaining its own plot. The best part of the novel is the meta commentary about the paranormal romance genre a lot of the readers experience. We all get tired of the cliches, lack of ethnic diversity, and the rehashing of old plots. This book breaks the barriers by playing with cliches and commenting on them, while having the romantic lead be of Chinese descent, and introducing a plot that is typically used in fanfiction. It broke out of the typical paranormal romance genre. It's full of action, romance, and intrigue as you take this journey with the protagonist with several twists and turns as we try to figure out how it's possible that Chloe was able to enter the book world.
I think I fell in love with this book before I even came to the first word. Any avid reader , or even a casual reader knows that part of the thrill that comes with reading is getting lost in a world that is not your own. Reading becomes an escape from reality, where you can be someone other then yourself. I know of more then one person, myself included who would love for their beloved series to come to life like Chloe got to experience.
I think what was so appealing about this book was that the characters she read about where not what she expected them to be when she came face to face with them. Chloe may have known all about the little intimate details in their lives, some even they were not aware about, but she was treated like I imagine may people would be treated in real life when placed in the brother's shoes, as a threat.
Part of what makes me love this book so much is that the author wrote it in a compellingly believable way. I was so tempted to pick up one of my favorite series and see if I would be taken into the dimension they where created in.
Another great aspect of this book was that unlike many other books, the main characters where flawed. They where not the barbie and ken, drop dead gorgeous beauties that no one can really live up to like so many writers make their characters out to be. Lucien and Chloe had insecurities and scars just like an every day person would.
The only downfall about this book was that it made me wish that I could read the very books Chloe read about the brothers that made her fall in love with them all. Their stories seemed like they would be just as fascinating.
So I believe honesty is the best policy. After I received the book I reread the synopsis and really didn't want to read it. I felt horrible and knew I had a responsibility but I was dreading the time it was going to take to finish reading the book then giving a honest review. I was struggling. BUT then I started reading...
Once I started I couldn't stop. I delayed leaving for the holidays and then had someone read while I was driving. I could see these people in techno-color. I was flabbergasted and overwhelmed. I could compare these characters to other characters in another series and loved the endless possibilities. I'm so thrilled that my sense of responsibility kept me going or I would have missed out on a fantastic book.
I would venture to say that all of us at one time or another would love to be drawn into our favorite books. I know I would love to be apart of the Shayla Black Dark Hunters, Emme Rollins Trouble, JR Wards BDB, Lexi Blake, Maya Banks or Kallypso Masters Rescue Me series. I would make so much trouble for my favorite characters. You fall in love with them and they become apart of you. I could empathize and sympathize with Chloe. When you read a series you get to know the characters and if you are a lonely person they might become your only friends. I get Chloe.
While there are things I don't like they are so minor that is not worth mentioning and ruining the story. My issues have to do with how I wanted things to go in this tale. The people came alive in my mind and I want more. You will enjoy this book and it's a must read.
I’ve read a few books with this premise, a massive fan of a book series/ TV series is pulled into their world to cause havoc and fall in love with the character of her dreams. I read another one a while back that was so obviously based on Twilight that it was verging on copyright infringement, that one had the character dragged into this world, not the fan into the imaginary world though.
Fangirl_15 was actually a pretty good read, it was well plotted out and introduced some lovely characters and scenes. It was also very well written – which the other book I read, was not.
From a writer’s perspective I think that the story would have been better first person from Chloe’s point of view. As it was third limited, it kind repeated itself a lot, which did get annoying to read the same scene twice from two different perspectives. If keeping it third person, perhaps simply integrating the perspectives, rather than limiting, would have solved the problem.
The front cover is a bit of a let down. as it does nothing to capture the distinct urban fantasy vibe that the book has. This looks more like a thriller, which won’t do it any favours in the long run.
Overall, I’d give Fangirl_15 4 out 5 stars – definitely worth a read, as don’t we all want to get lost in our favourite books?
So this is the first book from ‘New Adult’ genre that I have read (I actually didn’t even know that it existed before this book). So let me just say right now that I did not expect to love this book, I had picked this because, despite the weird cover and unusual name, the synopsis caught my eye. This book completely enthralled me in some sort of spell so much so that I couldn’t put it down and finished it in two days! It grabbed a hold of my imagination and spoke to the fan girl in me. Roseland’s writing style is witty and with a little quirk that speaks of today’s modern society. The book is full of pop culture references that made me giggle.
Roseland made her main character, Chloe, completely likable. Chloe a recluse who finds herself feeling closer to the characters in her beloved Dark Riders series than anyone in real life finds herself sucked into the book. Most of the time when I read a book like this the characters acts as if this happens to them everyday and they don’t have the ‘freak-out’ any normal person would have. Chloe on the other hand reacted exactly how I would have reacted.
Overall I highly recommend this book to any daydreaming book lover whose imagination completely runs away with them.
Then, I don't know what to say about this story. I would not say that it is marvellous, no, just full with surprises. Already the title seemed to put us on the track: Fangirl. Yeah, the first idea would be to think that this is a remake of the book Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, but no, we are far from all of that!
Already as information, the title is the pseudonym of our principal character, who is not other than Chloe. A banal girl with a banal groupie looks. In short, up to that point, nothing abnormal, but when we advance in the story, we discover an another reality and there I acknowledge that I did not expect it.
We discover characters whom are supposed to be know from us since the beginning of the story, incredible thing. From this moment, there is the impression to be between two worlds, to have already seen this scene, a feeling of "déjà-vu"…
This story was brilliantly well carried out until the end, even the end leaves us thoughtful. Because finally, I believe that there remains to us a not elucidated question: is this reality or the fiction?
In any case, Fangirl_15 is very good book, so much that I recommend it to you. In case if you ever one day, that will maybe happens to you, to see your hero with the turning of a lane ;)

Chloe is completely in love with Lucien, the only problem is that he only exists on paper. He is a character in a bookseries, but the writer died before she could finish his story. Another writer jumped in, but he did a poor job and Chloe is devastated. Then BAM she is in his world, and all the characters of her favorite series are real.
I really liked the storyline, everyone has a book boyfriend, and in this story he becomes a real person. Chloe and Lucien are very attracted to each other, and they both deny it at first. They struggle with their attraction, a lot of Sparks fly. I needed a little bit more kissing, a little bit more steam. It was a bit unrealistic sometimes. As the book progressed, I started to get confused. Sometimes it was as if the author had a great story inside her head, but she forgot her readers didn't have the same ideas. I felt a little left out. More information about the characters would have been nice. The ending was a bit confusing as well, it was a lot to process in just a few pages.
Despite those little things, I really enjoyed reading this book, and I will keep an eye on Aimee Roseland.

Chloe is in love with Lucien. He is everything she wants and needs in a man. Plus, he's freakin sexy! It would all be perfect except Lucien is a character from a book. After a series of extremely cool events, I don't like spoiling things for readers, she finds herself a IN the book world with Lucien! Now, with every choice she makes, she has the power to change the whole entire book series. If the way I'm describing it sounds a bit confusing, Dont Worry. The author does an amazing job explaining how Chloe ends up where she is.
I LOVED this book so much! I probably would've fallin in love with it from the concept alone. I mean, all of us readers have loved some book SO much we sorta wished we were the person being written. (Ana, from Fifty Shades, anyone?!) But it was much more than the plot that made me love this. Both characters were awesome. Lucien in his perfect "book boyfriend" ways. Chloe in her love and determination to support her favorite book! Be careful, Ms. Roseland, if you keep writing books like this I may just become your biggest fan!

I absolutely loved this book. The story grabbed me from the very beginning.
Chloe is an average girl, who loves the Dark Rider Series and uses the books as an escape from her upsetting childhood. She is devastated when the "final" book comes out that was written by a different author. Of course the new author did not do the story justice. She is heartbroken by the new turn the book has taken and wishes she could fix it. Luckily due to some circumstances Chloe finds herself face to face with her favorite characters and has a chance to fix what should not have been written. She gets to help them with parts of their story and they accept her into the brotherhood. She knows more about the brothers then they know about themselves, even more then she knows about herself.
I felt anyone could relate to this story. We all have favorite books we wish we could be a part of. Or favorite book boyfriends we fall in love with.
Fangirl_15 was a really fun read. I cracked it open (electronically) for a quick peek and had to read through to the end! It will appeal to readers of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I suspect it may have started its life as Black Dagger fan fiction (as a reader of J. R. Ward's series there were certain elements which seemed familiar) or it may have simply been a tribute to that style of fiction. At any rate, the details are jazzed up and unique and, well, just plain fun (it captures the romantic essence of such fiction without wallowing in its darker undertones).
We bibliophiles know what it's like to fall in love with the characters of the books we read, and I'm sure all of us at some moment have wondered what might happen were we to enter the pages of our favourite novels - that's what Fangirl_15 gets to find out. Her story is refreshing and entertaining. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Fangirl_15 by Aimee Roseland
The plot is really interesting I haven't read anything quite like it. The heroine falling in love in a character in the book she love and magically transporting her in his world. I was really interested in reading this. It would be a new experience to me.
Chloe and Lucian lovestory have a twist and at first i thought it was a simple story but it was not what i imagine it to be. At the first to the second chapter I was a bit confused as to what was happening but after a while I was hooked. Then the story keeps getting better. I would have like to read some of the other characters more. I feel like the ending is incomplete. I would have been more happy if the author have given us some more information as to what happened to them. I also like the way she right and how fast the pace the story was. If I'm going to compare this to the other book All in all it was good for me
Ever read one of those books that captured your attention so much that you just wanted to crawl inside and get lost in its pages? This is that book.
Now, the title and cover make this look like a thriller. No. This is urban fantasy - magical, sexy, and butt-kicking urban fantasy. It's got a righteous main character and the sexiest demon to hit the page.
The author manages to make the book hot without turning it into an LKH pornfest. This may disappoint some of you, but this is sexy without the sex. Don't worry - it's still hot.
The fact is that I was reading this book when I should have been doing other things simply because I wanted to see what would happen next.
OK I loved this book, but I think that is my crazy fangirl speaking. This book is an ode to paranormal romance heroes, the women who love them and the crazy fangirls that stalk them in their books. I found many similarities to BDB and some other well known series, and I liked it. I will admint that I've had some amazing dreams hat place me in this amazing universes, and that make me the main character. I will also admit that that was the main reason I had to get my hands on this book.
Is it well written? Yes it is. Is it innovative and fresh? No it isn't. Should you mind? Not at all. This book is a guilty pleasure, not an all time favorite. But yes, if you have a crazy fangirl inside of you, it is a worthy book.
Before I even start this review I need to mention the fact that I felt like I was tricked. When I read the summary for this book, I thought that this story was absolutely cute since Chloe, the main character, is an average girl who literally gets into the final series of her favorite novel. There’s just something fascinating about reading a book about a book. But what I didn’t expect was it to be so highly disturbing coming to the end. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. I don't usually read paranormal beyond the typical vampire, werewolf or witch. Turns out, I loved it!!! I won't give you a rundown of what the books about, that is what the "about" section on amazon and goodreads is for anyway. What I will say is, the author took a very clever approach and kept me interested right through the very end.
Review to come - but this was quite dire. Think Bella Swan with an inferiority complex the size of the Atlantic and brain the size of a grain of salt, and you might just begin to imagine what the main character is like.
