Gia My entire life I've always done what others wanted. Until I met him. Dante is mysterious, rough, and makes me think things a good girl like me shouldn't. Loving him could cost me my family, leaving him would cost me my life. He's a killer, a mafia hit man, and my protector.
Dante Gia awakened emotions in me I didn't know I was capable of having. Protecting her was like breathing, I didn't have a choice. But the one act that will finally make her safe, is what will push her away. I must kill her brother.

NOPE SORRY THNX BUT NO THNX...This book just makes me cringe cringe cringe cringe all the damn freakin way I cannot even oh gosh..
“It was at that moment that I knew I was in love.”
DANG! You guys just freakin met!! Like??? Like you don't even know her?!?! Nothing even happened btwn u guys!!! Some of you maybe thinking this as a love at first sight thing but nope, the situation is totally different i.Maybe this story was wayy too fast paced for me, and a lil bit boring i certainly couldnt wait to finish it to get it over n done with... :/
Ohhh gosh I CANT EVEN Sorry nope not my style Peace!
This is the first book I've tried from this author. It was ok. Thankfully the action started happening pretty quickly which is always a good thing.
The plot wasn't too deep and character development left a lot to the imagination. But somehow it didn't really bother me. Dante was cold, calculated and lethal while at the same time he was warm, passionate, loving and loyal. Gia was incredibly innocent and naive without being annoying (plus!).
It was insta-love for sure with some killing thrown in for spice. I'm still wondering if these characters had sex. It was alluded to but I think maybe it happened behind the scenes???
Hopefully Capo will be much better than what I've read so far and will have more obvious signs that these characters share a real connection with each other.
5 star What a nice surprise this book was, when i pick up this book i wasn't expecting much but in the end i liked this mafia romance very much.My only problem is about the length it's too short, only 70 pages. The writing was good and things happen fast,it have insta-love between Dante and Gia but i m not complaining, author didn't give us same HOT scene between Dante/Gia it was ok for this part of book ,i hope in book 2 will have same more passion and steamy scenes.
The story
This book is about Dante and Gia,Dante is hit man,he is killer ,he is part of Gambino family, famous mafia family .Gia spend 4 years in convent, when she is told her mother is dead she pack her bags and fly to New York. On his duty to watch and then kill Tray(Gia brother) Dante see Gia and he is immediately taken by her beauty ,he know she is danger so he will make everything to protect her.
Dante He was such a alpha man,and protective but in same time caring. He doesn't want this mafia life but he know he don t have get-out card.
Gia She was likeable heroine, never annoying.
Overall this was page turner, characters are not very developed but it have book 2 and 3 so i m sure this issue will be solved.
I think I started this book I long time ago since #1 - when I opened it, it was already at 39% and #2 - I was starting to recall a lot of it. It just shows what a moody reader I am since months ago I probably DNFed it, but forgot to mark it as DNF in GR. Anyway, I started from the beginning since I was in a mood for mob book and so glad I did because I love it.
I love mafia books so I have no idea what made me stop the first time. I loved both characters. I loved how protective and no-nonsense the hero was. Such a great story with the right amount of criminal activity.
Dante is a part of the mob. While he is stalking a house, he sees a girl walk into it. He can't help but feel protective of her. He later comes to find out that her name is Gia and she is the sister of the man who owes the wrong people a lot of money. Gia's brother puts her in a lot of danger and Dante is there to save and protect her. I loved the interaction between these two. I am not a reader who likes long sex scenes. They get drawn out and boring, but I thought the scenes in this book were really good.
Dante is the strong silent type. He grew up in the "family" and has been a soldier all his life. Gia's plans to become a nun are interrupted by her mother's death. From the first moment Dante lays eyes on Gia he calls her his angel, but he knows his bad boy ways are going to keep them apart. Gia is instantly captivated by her gentle giant, and believes she sees more than just a tough guy in his amazing blue eyes.
When Gia's brother gets in over his head with a local gang of thugs Dante comes to her rescue, but in order to find love each must be willing to face some hard truths. The road to acceptance and love is best traveled side by side.
A well written and fast paced romance with action, humor, heartache and moments of pure tenderness that is sure to delight readers. It has a low heat level, and does contain a few tense scenes that depict mob related violence; not particularly graphic in nature, but may be disturbing to some readers.
A copy of SOLDIER was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review
Too fast to really enjoy the relationship between Gia and Dante. You get nothing out of the characters as far as who they really are and why they'll be good for each other. The author tried to explain why Terry was in trouble but left out just why Dante was protecting him, what the mother had to do with it and just how Gia's siblings turned their back without a care in the world.
I mean after the house situation you'd think her siblings would at the very least call her and make sure she's alright. I mean come on, she's supposed to be a nun and they left her out in the wind like she was just as foul as Terry. A ton is missing in this to make it a great story but the ending is just enough to make you think that in the next one you'll understand more.
Gia always wanted to be a nun. Or so she thought. Dante was a soldier. Gia's brother Terry was in trouble and Dante was to watch him. When their mother died, Dante was no longer to watch Terry. The people he took from could kill him for all they cared. Dante was only keeping him safe as long as his mother was alive. But he fell in love with Gia the moment she came out of the subway station. She feel in love the first time he stepped in the house to give his regrets, but she had no clue to who he was. He saved her from the people who wanted her brother and gave her so much more than she ever expected. I loved this story and I can't wait to read Capo
Something I love about books. You can still be surprised about what happens and about what you like. Sometimes you don't think you will but after reading it you realized just how much you enjoyed it.. This was one of those books. I did not realize just how much I was enjoying it. It was a little different from what I normally like but it deffinitely kept my interest
It's a good theme. The writing is done well. I am just not feeling bound into the story the way I should. I feel like there is the same fog Gia complained about between the book and my involvement . will see how nook two goes
I've grown so very tired of mafia romances, but this one was actually pretty good. Probably because the female protagonist came from a convent. Also, the main man was pretty sexy with the explosives.
Dante and Gia's story is an emotional rollercoaster from the start. He was a hired killer with one thing in mind and it wasn't to protect her at least not until it was. She was a good girl protected from the world by being raised in a convent, until he rescued her. This is a battle of wills and it wont be an easy battle. The author builds an intricate web of deceit, lies, betrayal, and intrigue until it's done. Great story awesome characters and a great boxset with all of the first books of her series included. Perfect to give you a taste and destined to cause some damage to you tbr/wish list/book budget.
I had to give this novel a five. Worthy read and Liliana Rhodes has a winner with this first novel. Ms. Rhodes is new on my romance shelves. I find her to be refreshing. Her storytelling makes me want to continue with this series. Yes, the storyline does suggest a similar romance novels. But, I find it to be complex and more story then page after page of sexual decadent. Some readers enjoy continues intense love making in the novel. But . . . Give me a author with intriguing storytelling.
This book is a typical mafia type romance. It was a good read. The story flowed fairly well. I found the end a bit strange. For a woman who was going to be a nun to have no compassion for a family member after a few mistakes. I am not a religious person but I thought the Catholics were about repenting and forgiveness.
Gia was away for 4 yrs and the convent. She knew nothing of the turmoil or devastation which was upon her family. Until she was called to go home because of the death of her mom. When she thought her brother would help all she found was he was setting her up for his selfish reasons. But Danta will be her Savior.
Was little unusual, but enjoyed the read. Most romances and love scenes go on and on, page after page but this write love without the sex scenes, something unusual but I enjoyed. Love without raunchy sex.
I like the plot as well as the love interest. This is a much lighter read as it lacks steamy scene`s which was a huge disappointment. It also is not a stand-alone and leaves you with a cliff hanger. Dante is obviously the new Capo, not sure what Gia is going to make of that if its true that is.
A page turner, very interesting. Truth or fiction? Loved every word. Thank you for this series. I plan to get all the books. These would be great audible. Suspensful
Spoiler Ahead This was a pretty good book. This was book 1 in the " Made Men" series and I have read this author before so I knew I was getting a good book. His has always done what everyone else wanted her to do. Gia's plans to become a nun got interrupted by her mother's death. When Gia's brother gets in over his head with a local gang of thugs Dante comes to her rescue, but in order to find love each must be willing to face some hard truths. Gia awakened emotions in me I didn't know I was capable of having. Dante grew up in the family and has been a soldier all his life. When he meets His sparks fly between these. Dante wants something more out of life. His awakens him. The sex scenes were good. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Gia has always been the dutiful daughter. Doing what was in the best interest to her family and burying herself away at a nunnery like her mother wanted. But know that her mother has passed away she decides its time to come home and start a life of her own. Unbeknownst to her, her brother is in financial problems with some very evil men and now their sights are set on Gia.
Dante Gambino is a hitman. A killer. Its all he knows. Until Gia. Something about her makes him want to protect her from every evil in the world. She captured him from the moment he first saw her walking on the street. When they finally meet face to face Gia has no idea who this man is other that he saved her. But never has she felt safer or more protected than when she is in his arms.
In the beginning Gia seemed like such a soft spoken woman. As the story went on you could see how much grit she actually had. There were times she floundered but always got back on her feet and fought for what she wanted. I absolutely adored Dante from the start. He was a walking contradiction. Everything he did was for Gia. To protect her. To make her his in every way possible. Such an amazing series!
Soldier: A Mafia Romance (Made Man #1) By: Liliana Rhodes 4/5 stars
Gia Carlisi is a nun-in-training, but even though it is something that she believed she always wanted to do, she has put off taking her formal vows. Because of the amount of time that she’s been putting off her vows, she knows that being a nun isn’t her true calling and she mainly did the training for her mother.
Dante is a hitman for the Gambino family mafia. He’s been protecting Gia’s brother Terry, while their mother was still alive. But his first glance at Gia, he knew that he couldn’t let Gia pay for her brother’s problems. He feels an instant and intense need to protect her from the world and those who would hurt her.
We get to see the soft side of Dante, but there are also times when he totally shuts down and goes cold and hard. We also see Gia as a soft, shy girl and later she gains some confidence.
I did pick this novella up while it was free and I would continue the series, but I refuse to page $2.99 for 90 pages, when I can buy a full novel for that price. The entire boxset is $4.99 but I’m still not sure if I’ll pick it up and that is solely because of the price. I liked the novella itself.
