‘Glass Hearts’ starts off where ‘Plastic Hearts’ ended. If you haven’t read book one in this series, there may be some small spoilers in this review.
Can a relationship survive on love alone? Is love truly enough?
Dane and Alex haven’t had an easy relationship. Not at all. But Alex has given up everything she once thought was important to be with Dane. Her family’s approval, money etc. Dane is ecstatic to have Alex back, but it’s still new. He’s not sure if he can trust her to stay if the going gets rough, and for good reason. Alex will do anything to prove to Dean she will stay, even if the going gets rough.
Dane has a lot going on in this book. I loved getting glimpses into his past- that prologue broke my heart. Not only is Dane a recovering addict himself, but he has to deal with his brother, Nolan, who is addicted. Dane just wants him to get help. Dane realizes you can only help someone as much as they’ll let you. Alex wants to help- but all she can do is be there for him, love him, help him heal.
There is some relationship drama in this book , but overall most of the conflict was with Dean and his past/family. Some of Dane’s story and his pain just gutted me. I just adore Dane. I’m so happy after his past, he found someone who truly loves him the way he deserves to be loved.
Dane realizes sometimes, you just have to move on, people can only change if they want to. I hate that he had to go through more tragedy in this book, but he’s a strong man. And he has Alex to help him through.
It was nice to see Alex get some closure and healing with her family also. A great conclusion for these two! And that epilogue was just the sweetest thing EVER.
Alex and Dane’s stories show that relationships aren’t always perfect. They take a lot of work, trust, and love to make it. It’s not always an easy ride. I’ve always loved Dane, but I was so impressed with Alex in this book. She drove me a little bonkers in book one, but she was strong and able to stand up for herself and learn from her past mistakes. The ending was sweet, and I’m looking forward to Jade and Gwen’s stories. Jade- I have a feeling about what’s going on with her and I can’t wait to read about it, and Gwen... am I the ONLY person who is hoping for a Reid/Gwen book? I know Reid wasn’t perfect in this story. In fact, he was a bit of an ass, but I still want more of him!!!!!
Personally, I enjoyed this book more than the first. I think a large part of that is because we got Dane’s pov through half of the book. I love alternating pov’s. Overall, I feel like you get so much more out of a story being able to see it from both sides. If you enjoyed Plastic Hearts, you want to pick this up. An emotional and sweet story packed full of steam- Glass Hearts gets 4.5 Stars from me ;D

I realized what true happiness really is. It’s about being who you want to be, and surrounding yourself with people who love you while you’re doing it. It’s about accepting all your flaws and weaknesses and doing the same thing for the person you love.

This couple is my Alex Riley and Dane Wright.
So for obvious reasons, I can't seem to move on from Plastic Hearts. Although the story has a cliche plot, it's the writing style and the characters I love the most. *ahem* Dane. Lisa writes Dane's character very well. He isn't boring nor blunt. He is vulnerable and sensitive and independent. Even though the book is written in Alex's POV, I can still feel for Dane. And that is why I admire him most in the book. Now, I just have this giddy feeling. You know the one when you get excited because there's a sequel and you can't wait for it to come out? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I hope Lisa reads this pre-review and gives us a sneak-peek of Glass Hearts.

This is the conclusion to the Hearts duet and follow son from where things left off in Plastic Hearts. Dane and Alex are reunited and figuring out their future together one day at a time.
Alex is looking for a job for the first time in her life and determined to be financially independent.
Dane is getting frustrated with his younger brother Nolan who he really wants to help but he knows that he truly needs to hit rock bottom before any change can happen. The last thing he wants is to lose another member of his family. His relationship with his mother is still strained but hopefully it will get better over time.
Alex’s family don’t even factor into her life anymore, she still keeps in touch with her sister Gwen and wishes that her sister would choose her won happiness over what is expected of her. The exact reason why A;ex had to walk away from her family.
So all these huge adjustments are going on and lots of stress points that are impacting on their determination to succeed as a couple. What is there is a deep and unwavering love for each other. However, Dane still deems himself unworthy of Alex and his jealousy likes to plant seeds of doubt in his mind which could get out of hand if he isn’t careful.
To be honest, not a lot happens in this story except the progression of this relationship as they navigate a new and hopefully happy future together :)

It’s a little black strapless dress that barely covers her ass. If I show up at the bar in anything like that, Dane will kill me after he drags me home and covers me up so no one else can see me.
Does this sound healthy to you? If the answer is yes, then this book will be right up your alley. However, if you find Dane's obsessive need to dictate what his girlfriend can and can't wear as well as Alex's reaction to it disturbing, this will not be your new favorite book.
I wasn't sure what Glass Hearts would be offering. The first book, which I read years ago, was fine. At least that's how I remember it. Maybe Dane was as possessive and creepy in it but I didn't see it. Either way, I'd hoped this book would offer some insight to his family and background. Alex's overbearing parents weren't exactly interesting in the first book, but Dane's past intrugied me. So when the first book ended on a cliffhanger, I was all for reading the second in hopes of learning more about Dane.
Did this book offer that? Yes, to a short extent. Dane's family plays a bigger role in the second book, but at the same time, it didn't get the attention it deserved. There is serious tension in the relationship between Dane and his brother as well as both their respective relationships to their mother. This should have been the main focus of the book, not Dane and Alex's mundane struggles.
I've mentioned Dane's character a little, his possessive behavior. I did not mention the fact that he considers it his right to dictate what his girlfriend wears, even in her own home. He's turned into the standard New Adult hero, fully equipped with a dose of sexism, aggressiveness, and a penchant for violence. Boring. Recycled.
A disappointment, to say the least.

GREAT ending to Dane and Alex's story. I can't wait to read about Jade and Gwen. A bit predictable but still full of awesome yumminess. Still one of my fave New Adults this year. Well done, Lisa!!! Review to come in July :)

Sometimes, when an author tries to write a sequel to a great book, it doesn't work out so well. It suffers from a used story line or under developed characters or basic ennui. This is not one of those books. Glass Hearts is simply one of my favorite sequels of any New Adult book that I've read in the last year or so. The story, the characters and the writing style of Lisa De Jong all pull me in and make me beg for more.
Glass Hearts continues right where Plastic Hearts ends. Although back in one another's lives, Dane and Alex have a long way to go in trusting and believing in one another. This book explores whether or not love really is enough. If Plastic Hearts was Alex's story, then Glass Hearts definitely belongs to the super sexy Dane.
Having already dealt with Alex's personal issues in Plastic Hearts, we learn that Alex really did a number on Dane. Dane has an extremely difficult past that was touched on in the previous book. In Glass Hearts, De Jong delves into Dane's past and we see how Dane came to be the person that he is. We see the genesis of his trust and anger issues. We understand why he was once involved in illegal activities, and we understand why Dane feels that he needs to be the caretaker in the lives of those he loves.
Alex grows a lot in this book. She is fully aware of what she gave up for Dane, and knows that she is better off for it. Alex takes her new found freedom in stride, and we see her struggle with her new life. However, once she makes the decision to be with Dane, it's something that she will stick with, through thick and thin. Gone are the days of Alex running away, or shutting Dane out. Alex is ready and willing to fight for Dane. She is ready to take on Dane's family, his personal issues and his jealousy. For Alex, Dane is the person who completely changed her life, and she refuses to let him go.
Dane deals with various personal matters in this book. Dane's mother and his brother, Nolan, get more page time in this sequel. Dane's mother is racked with guilt - guilt from past occurrences that she cannot deal with. Nolan is a hot mess. He's been on a downward spiral for some time now, and Dane does everything in his power to help him out, even though Nolan isn't capable of appreciating it. There are many past grievances that Alex helps Dane deal with in this book, and time after time, Alex shows up to support Dane through his most difficult moments.
We meet a bar owner named Reid in this book that I bet we will see a lot more of down the line. Although it was obvious to me just who Reid is, I liked his part in this book. While he caused drama for Alex and Dane, Reid is a mysterious and brooding character that I can't wait to read more about. We get glimpses of Jade, Alex's best friend, too. Again, although it is clear what it going on with her health, De Jong sets Jade's book up beautifully. I love all of the characters in the Hearts-verse and can't wait to read more about them.
I don't know what it is about this series. The characters, the plot and the writing style of De Jong all work together to create one of my most favorite New Adult series. De Jong writes beautifully, creating characters with depth and emotion, yet are also believeable and relateable. This is definitely an amazing sequel to Plastic Hearts and I can't wait to read more from this up and coming author.

This was a good ending to Dane and Alex's turbulent story. I didn't love this one as much as I loved the first book. But I did enjoy it.
I really really liked Plastic Hearts and I kind of felt that there just wasn't as much story to tell in Glass Hearts... I found myself flitting in and out of it a little, for the most part of the book. That said, it really picked up at 75% and the last 25% was unputdownable! In fact, I felt like the issues in the last quarter could have been pulled out and delved into in more depth, to fill the entirety of this book.
This is a quick read, so it wasn't like it dragged. I just felt like it was almost an extended epilogue.
It picks up exactly where we left Alex and Dane in Plastic Hearts, with the addition of a heartbreaking prologue, in the form of a flashback to Dane's childhood. So, we're put straight back into Dane and Alex's do-over, after their two month split.
They're both hopeful that it will work, as they are thrown into a life of cohabitation, but there are still issues that haven't been dealt with. Both of them have their own doubts and demons to work through. Trust, secrets, their past, their families... they're all obstacles that the couple need to overcome.
Whereas Plastic Hearts focused heavily on Alex's problems, with her family, with her new found identity, etc. Glass Hearts is predominantly about Dane's skeletons.
I felt, a few times in this book, that the characters totally blew un-eventful situations out of proportion, completely over reacting at times. And, in contrast, I also felt that there were some issues that almost weren't made enough of... the situation with Dane's brother Nolan, felt like it was left a little unresolved, as did the issue with Dane and Alex's boss, Reid, and also Alex's problems with her mother. I just didn't feel like this book was as well thought out as book #1, or had as much depth.
Negatives aside, I did enjoy it. Over all, it was a good ending to Alex and Dane's story and it answered questions that I had after the ending of Plastic Hearts. Despite Dane and Alex getting back together at the end of the first book, I wasn't convinced of their solidarity as a couple. This book cemented that and pushed aside any doubts that they may not be able to go the distance.
The ending was super cute. I love Dane. For all his faults, his addictions, his demons, his insecurities, he's a fab book boyfriend.
I felt like his past only made him even more certain about his love for Alex. He's had it bad, and he's had it good... he knows the difference and he knows when to keep hold of a good thing.
And, for no other reason than Alex and Dane go camping, sleep under the stars and have some very hot sexy time in a tent... I just couldn't resist...
I certainly plan to read the other books by this author, as I believe we will also be treated to Alex's sisters story, in which I assume Reid, Alex and Dane's boss, will feature, and also Alex's friend, Jade's story. I look forward to these instalments.

Glass Hearts is book two in the Hearts Series by Lisa De Jong. I LOVED Plastic Hearts and loved the characters, especially Dane… can we say perfect book boyfriend? He was almost too perfect and I couldn’t wait to read Glass Hearts and get into his head for a change to find out what demons he was facing.

Glass Hearts picks up exactly where Plastic Hearts left off, but this time it is written in both Alex AND Dane’s POV! Hooray!! I am so glad Dane’s perspective is written this time around! Alex finally has some balls and left her old life behind to be with the man she loves and to major in her passion of Art instead of Premed like her snooty parents wanted to her to. Now on her own financially she has no place to go for the summer and needs a job. Dane being the perfect boyfriend is there for her and the two begin a life together. This time, Dane’s past is the cause of the trouble as the two learn to be together and Alex struggles to learn to be independent.
What I loved most about Glass Hearts is Dane stops becoming this make-believe perfect guy and becomes real. He has his past and family he is dealing with in this book and he isn’t as amazingly perfect as he was in Plastic Hearts. I actually fell harder for him knowing the real him then I did in the first book. He isn’t perfect but that is okay because he knows how to love and loves Alex so much. I also really enjoyed Alex’s character so much more. She matured a lot once she finally stood up to her parents and became on her own.
The Hearts series is a really fun, yet emotional series I am so glad I was able to read. The story has heart and a book boyfriend like Dane, how can it go wrong?!

It was a really romantic, angst-y and fast-paced book! I enjoyed this book better than the first since it was not as rush and got me on my toes due to some mysterious encounters.
This sequel zooms right into the life of Alex and Dane cohabiting. Love was already in the air when I was flipping through the first few chapters ! Not only was Alex loved, I felt loved as well :)
“He’s not perfect, but he’s perfect for me”
Albeit Dane has forgiven Alex, there still exists a friction between them. Alex had left Dane previously, leaving him with a broken and distrustful heart. With just superficial issues, he makes reckless moves and uses hurtful words.
“She hurt me so much, but being with her is less painful than being without her.”
Of course, with friction there will be solutions. They need to smoothen the rough edges by being truthful to one another. Secrets does no good to anyone and deters people from progressing.
“...I like to think we have a little bit of darkness in the light. It will never be perfect but as long as I see her and prove to her every day that she holds my heart, we should always shine through.”
Despite all those crazy and jerk-ass moments, Dane is indeed a pronto-headed and smexy lover who demands absolute control of his girlfriend. Girl am I swooning now!
“Alex was never just my way to pass the time. I’m the first man who touched her, and I’m sure as hell going to be the last.”
Lesson learnt from this book :)

I just loved watching the growth of Dane and Alex's relationship in this amazing second book!
"Glass Hearts" picks up where "Plastic Hearts" left off. What is great about this book is that it shows you how Dane and Alex deal with living together, Dane's family, and other elements that relationships are tested with that makes this story realistic and believable!
What is also great is that Lisa sets up Jade (Alex's best friend) and Gwen's (Alex's sister) stories that equally sound interesting and I can't wait for those to be released.
This is a must read if you've already read Plastic Hearts!

I am pleased with this ending. It wasn't easy. Family ruins EVERYTHING!

This book is so dang honest. I love it.
It isn't full of kittens & rainbows. It shows the roller coaster of life. Happy & heartbreaking.

Glass Hearts is book two in the hearts series and picks up exactly where book one ended. Alex is moving into Dane's apartment after having gotten back together following their separation. What's really clear right from the start is how much Alex and Dane love each other. Crazy, can't keep their hands off each other, madly desperately in love!!
While I really liked book one, I enjoyed this book so much more. It wasn't as long as the first book and I felt that it just flowed a lot more smoothly. It was angsty, and hot and heartbreaking and even frustrating at times. But above all of that it was an incredibly awesome read!!
Dane Wright is going to be the death of me. Death from orgasm? Death from swooning? I'm not sure which one will kill me first, but it's bound to happen some day.
I loved Dane in Plastic Hearts but I fell in love with him even more this time around. Crazy, in love with him!! One of the best things about this book is that it's told from the point of view of both Alex and Dane and so we got to really get a much better feel for Dane as a character. We knew he had a past that he's not proud of but in this book we really get to see how broken he is. We get to experience his pain and his belief that he's not really worthy of Alex. But by being in his head, we also get to feel how much he loves Alex. How passionate he is about her. And how tortured he is at times.
She owns me. She completely and totally owns me.
I liked Alex in book one, but I didn't love her. I thought she had moments of being whiny and selfish and lacked backbone. However in Glass Hearts I think we have a much more mature and grown up Alex. She's become a girl who is much more comfortable in her skin now that she's out from underneath the stifling relationship with her Mum and Dad.
But just because Alex and Dane are back together and deeply in love, doesn't mean that things run smoothly for the two of them. Dane's family play a much bigger part in this book and we really get to see the impact that their behaviour has on Dane and in turn on Alex. After some initial bumps in the road, Alex is determined to show Dane that he is worthy of her love and that she is in for the long haul.
And what an absolutely perfect ending!! I was so happy to hear that the author has two stories to come featuring two of the other characters from The Hearts series. I can't wait to read them!!! Lisa De Jong writes a really awesome males point of view and I have my fingers crossed that she writes a lot more of it in the future!!

Glass hearts was absolutely amazing! I really loved the writing style of the author and how she used it to bring her characters to life. I really wasn't sure that I would read this one when I completed Plastic Hearts, but I'm glad I ended up reading it. It was much better than the first one.
Dane Wright has to be one of the sexiest book boyfriends around. Seriously, his hotness just jumps right off the page and dazzles you. He's also imperfectly perfect. Dane is a very straightforward man whose been through a lot in his life. He tells people the truth and that's one of the things that I love him, but he's also got this sweet, sensitive, and somewhat innocent side to him. He's a complex male character, which I just loved! I felt like the readers really got to know him through this book and I loved it! I also like how the author discussed his addiction. She portrayed it in a very realistic way and I think her portrayal may help people understand the disease a little better.
As for Alexandra Riley....I'm still not in love with her. When I read the first book I just thought that she was a spoiled brat and I still feel that way for the most part, HOWEVER, her character does grow and mature a great deal. Don't get me wrong, she's still a little whiney, but she's also not the same weak woman she was in the first one. No, this time around she has the ability and power to stand up for herself and survive on her own two feet. She's finally become her own woman and I commend her for that. I grew to like her more this time around and was thrilled by her character development. She becomes the woman that Dane really needs in his life just like Dane's the type of man she needs in hers.
Overall, this book was an amazing read! The author is very talented and does a WONDERFUL job of bringing these characters to life:) I highly recommend this book (only to be read after you finish the first book: Plastic Hearts).

I am reviewing Books 1 and 2 together. Please note that some ratings might be different for Bk 1.
I usually respond well to the story of the poor little rich girl ignored by her parents and I liked this story well enough. I guess. The H/h fall in love quickly and it's just sturm n drang and lots of ILYs for the next 300 pages.
While the writing is not eye-rapingly amateurish, it made the common rookie mistake of too much tell, not enough show. "We went on a date and had an interesting conversation" was written once too many times. It gave the books an overall passive voice and along with a rather weepy H/h (they are so broken, doncha know?), it wasnt quite my cuppa.
BTW, the main setting is NYC and the bk shows NONE of it's legendary, singular allure. It could have been set in Anywhere, USA and it wouldnt have made a difference. Also, as someone who deals with NYC real estate, I rolled my eyes at the H being able to afford a NYC apt, an artist studio, AND full-time NYU tuition all on a part-time bartender and artist's salary. WTFever.
And on a last note, while the typos werent absolutely horrible, it could have done with some copy editing. It's a "well-heeled crowd", not "well-healed" to give an example.

super conclusion to a great story! this picks up immediately as Alex and Dane reconnect! Alex has grown up tremendously! She is no longer needy or selfish, she is actually quite awesome! I like how it is Alex who becomes the anchor in the relationship as it is quickly known that Dane isnt the solid guy I read in Glass Hearts! This one has the same emotional rollercoaster vibe to it....lots of touching moments, lots of hot sexy chemistry...and of course it is a touching complete love story of survival that I would recommend to all!

A sweet and tender ending to Alex and Dane's story. This was about finding who they are in their relationship and learning how to make things work despite their difficult pasts. I truly enjoyed it.
I'm really excited we're getting Jade's story soon. I have an idea of what was going on with her and I hope I'm right.

I loved book 1 Plastic Hearts, but I love Glass Hearts more, the alternate POV was great, and I fell more in love with Dane, with every word.
I cried many times during this read so bring your tissues. Not sure I could handle everything these two were put through.
I look forward to the next books which will be about the supporting characters, they look like they will be just as good.

We can't run away from real life forever, but we can escape for a little while.
Glass Hearts is the continuing story of the rollercoaster ride, Plastic Hearts, bringing us back to Dane and Alex and their tumultuous relationship. These books are not meant to be stand-alones and should be read in order. While Plastic Hearts took us through the drama and angst of the beginning, and seemingly ending, of Dane's and Alex's budding relationship, leaving me in tears and feeling so much for this couple; Glass Hearts gave me a completely different feeling. I didn't shed tears, but I certainly found a lump in my throat a few times and took something away from this novel, which gave a better experience than shedding tears.
There were always obstacles for Dane and Alex to overcome, but it seems as though those obstacles have multiplied in this installment of the Hearts Series. We see so much more pain, as the book gives us so much history from Dane's past and his childhood. I loved Dane before because of his bad boy and cocky attitude as well as his love for Alex...so I thought. But my heart gained so much more understanding of Dane's character and exactly why I really loved him. I learned in the first installment that his childhood years and past were not pretty, but until now I didn't realize the depth of his pain and brokenness. From the prologue, we see exactly what Dane's life has been like and that insight continues in the form of flashbacks to give the reader a true feel of just how much this character has grown and achieved.
Alex has changed and matured so much in this installment as well. Her insecurities are still there and on the surface, but she is learning to stand on her own two feet, focusing on what she wants rather than what others think she should want. The strength that has always been buried deep within her emerges, thanks to Dane, and she uses that strength to help Dane just as he has helped her. Together, they continue to work hard to overcome every interference from Nolan, Bree, and even Reid; a new and mysterious character, whom I'm sure we will see again. It seems that one step forward is equal to three steps back in this relationship. Dane and Alex became more than characters in a book; they became....real. Neither of them are perfect. In fact, these two are so flawed that they complement each other perfectly. Dane's jealousy and temper flares are prominent, as well as his vulnerability and reactions to events and misunderstandings.
I wasn't sure if I would connect with this book, because I had a difficult time feeling anything at first, and I was struggling through the first 25% of the book. I realize now that this might be due to a book hangover and the fact that it had been several books ago that I read the first installment, so I was struggling to remember certain events that were necessary to understanding where Dane and Alex are now. The connection just wasn't there for me. But, something happened at around 40%, and the intensity picked up, and I started to feel something. At around 65%, the connection was deeply rooted; my heart started fluttering and that ever pressing lump took its rightful place in my throat. I was empathizing with Dane and feeling his pain. It's great when we can sympathize with our beloved characters, but the feeling is so powerful to be able to empathize with them....to feel what THEY feel! Lisa De Jong managed to do that for me with flashbacks about Jenna, Nolan, and Dane's parents. This is the point that my rating began to climb steadily. Then at 72%, I was feeling the angst and screaming a few expletives in response to the surprises that were in store for me.
This story is so much more than just a love story or romance; this story has a deeper message. Glass Hearts gives a true account of what it is like to deal with addiction, whether in yourself or in those you love. We get a first hand account of the struggles that plague the addicted, and the toll it can take on those around them. But there is also a message of finding help to overcome those struggles; as well as the relapses, cravings, and temptations that will always be a threat. This story is about Alex and Dane finding their path in life, both together and separately, while attempting to resolve their issues. It's about holding onto those who support you, standing by those who matter, and taking advantage of time with those you love before you're left with regrets of time gone by too quickly. This story is about never looking back....only looking forward. This story is about change in one's self, looking at things differently, and learning from your mistakes in order to grow and overcome the pain of the past.
Lisa De Jong has written a beautiful novel in Glass Hearts that left me feeling satisfied and feeling as though I really took something away from this book, and the epilogue....OMG, the epilogue was just the icing on the cake. It was beautifully done and epitomized just how far Dane and Alex have come from the beginning. The only thing keeping this between 4 and 4.5 stars for me as opposed to 5 stars is the lack of connection I felt at the beginning of the book. But as I said, that could be due to book hangover or a need to refresh my memory on some of the events and characters from book 1.

If you are reading this review, you more than likely read Plastic Hearts, which is the 1st book in the series. Glass Hearts is book #2 in the series. Relationships are NEVER easy. Alex and Dane realize that.
Alex hadn't taken a chance on anyone until she met Dane Wright. Alex always obeyed her parents and was living the life that "they" wanted her to live. She didn't have a purpose that was her own. Alex didn't know what happiness was until she met Dane. Dane made her feel alive. Dane was her "everything". "He's my ground, my water, my sky...he's my whole world." ~ Alex Riley
Alex shattered Dane's heart when she broke up with him after her parents threatened to cut her off. When Alex realized that she had made the wrong decision and should have stood up to her parents, it was too late. Dane would not accept her apologies and refused to forgive her. After several months apart, both Alex and Dane were miserable. Alex shows up at Dane's door with last last attempt to convince him to take her back, to tell him that he was her world. They say, time heals all wounds. Would the time apart make Dane realize that Alex was his future?
While reading the book, my heart broke for Dane. Dane was always a strong confident guy and he began to doubt his self worth. Was he good enough for Alex, would Alex accept him with all of his flaws? While Alex and Dane were broken up, Dane made a few mistakes of his own. Would Dane have the courage to tell Alex what he did? Would Alex be able to forgive him?
Dane is a total sweetheart. He loves Alex unconditionally and it seems like they are both healing each other. Helping each other find themselves.

Can Dane help his brother get help and go into rehab?
Alex has grown in this book. She vows to fight for Dean and she refuses to run. Alex sees that Dane needs her and she will stand by him, no matter if he tries to push her away. Alex knows that Dane is her future and they both have a past, but she is determined to make their relationship work. I really enjoyed this book, however I was a tad disappointed with Dane. I hated to see him doubt himself. I feel like he sort of did a 360 in this book from when we were first introduced to him in Plastic Hearts. In Plastic Hearts he was confident and knew that he wanted to succeed in life. Yes, he had a troubled past, but he didn't let that hold him back. His past made him the man that he was today, so to see him feel like he was not good enough for Alex, broke my heart.
I am excited to see what the future may hold for Dane, Alex, Jade, Tyler and Nolan. I was left with so many unanswered questions, so I can only assume there will be more books in this series.

Alex shattered Dane's heart when she broke up with him after her parents threatened to cut her off. When Alex realized that she had made the wrong decision and should have stood up to her parents, it was too late. Dane would not accept her apologies and refused to forgive her. After several months apart, both Alex and Dane were miserable. Alex shows up at Dane's door with last last attempt to convince him to take her back, to tell him that he was her world. They say, time heals all wounds. Would the time apart make Dane realize that Alex was his future?
While reading the book, my heart broke for Dane. Dane was always a strong confident guy and he began to doubt his self worth. Was he good enough for Alex, would Alex accept him with all of his flaws? While Alex and Dane were broken up, Dane made a few mistakes of his own. Would Dane have the courage to tell Alex what he did? Would Alex be able to forgive him?
Dane is a total sweetheart. He loves Alex unconditionally and it seems like they are both healing each other. Helping each other find themselves.

Life has never been easy for Dane. His mother is a recovering alcoholic and his brother is a drug addict. Dane feels guilty that his brother has chosen the life that he has. Could Dane have steered him down a different path in life? Dane struggles with his inner demons and Dane wonders whether he is good enough for Alex. Can he give Alex the life that she deserves? Can Dane help his brother get help and go into rehab?
Alex has grown in this book. She vows to fight for Dean and she refuses to run. Alex sees that Dane needs her and she will stand by him, no matter if he tries to push her away. Alex knows that Dane is her future and they both have a past, but she is determined to make their relationship work. "True love is the hardest thing to find, but it's also the hardest thing to lose." ~ Alex
Alex pretty much sums up Plastic Hearts in one sentence.

I really enjoyed this book, however I was a tad disappointed with Dane. I hated to see him doubt himself. I feel like he sort of did a 360 in this book from when we were first introduced to him in Plastic Hearts. In Plastic Hearts he was confident and knew that he wanted to succeed in life. Yes, he had a troubled past, but he didn't let that hold him back. His past made him the man that he was today, so to see him feel like he was not good enough for Alex, broke my heart.

I have literally just finished Plastic Hearts (Hearts #1), and I just loved it, so I was actually very excited that I was able to move straight on to this one.
Glass Hearts (Hearts #2) pick up exactly after the first one ended, this sequel continues with Alex and Dane relationship. Alex and Dane are back together. Alex’s parents are no longer an issue, and they are moving forward with their relationship, but it is not going to be easy as they still have some issues to work out, they need to build the trust that is not fully there.
I really liked Dane in Plastic Heart, but wow! After reading this one I now loved him. Lisa De Jong gives us Dane’s POV in this book as well as Alex and I loved reading Dane’s perspective. This time we get to learn so much more about Dane his story, his demons, his secrets, his background, and what happened to him after Alex left him. Reading Dane POV always made me emotional he was so sweet and sensitive.
I like how Alex was a lot more mature in this one, having stood up to her family she is now stronger, independent, doing things for herself and making choices that she wants to make. She is there when Dane needs her and doesn't just run away.
I’m not going to say too much about the storyline as I think you should read, it is touching, and it will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. You do get to read more of Dane’s family, and more about Jade and Gwen, whom both are getting their own books and a few new characters.
Not wishing just to copy and paste from my review of Plastic Hearts but Lisa De Jong does it again this one, she sucked me in from the start. It had everything I love in a book, and again I read this one in one sitting, it had the romance, the drama, the angst, sexy moments, I laughed, I cried, and I shouted at my kindle. I would say that my emotions were all over the place while reading this one more so that the last one.
I will say that Glass Hearts was shorter than Plastic Hearts, and that did worry me at the start, as I tend to find that when a book is short, the story can feel rushed, and bits are missing. But I have to say it was not the case in this one. This was a perfect conclusion to Alex and Dane’ story.
I highly recommend this book but only after you have read Plastic Hearts. I loved Lisa De Jong writing style, and I have just added all her future books to my TBR list.
Glass Hearts get 5 stars from me.

It’s no secret that I LOVED Plastic Hearts so when the opportunity came up to work with Lisa on her Glass Hearts blog tour I couldn’t wait to get started. I was a huge Dane and Alex fan and I was so excited to see where Lisa would take their relationship.
Glass Hearts picks up where Plastic Hearts left off. Alex is moving in with Dane realizing how much she loves him and wants to be with him. As their story unfolds, I am SO EXTREMELY proud of Alex and her realization that she doesn’t need anyone else’s approval but her own when it comes to her life and choices. I am happy to see her more independent, stronger and believing in herself. I am saddened to see her relationship with her parents fade away but I think she needs this to become independent and strong and her own person. It’s unfortunate that her parents are stuck in their ways and my hope is that one day in the future, they will come to realize how much she means to them.
I have to say that I absolutely LOVE DANE! I truly enjoyed the chapters that were in his POV as we see him with his self-doubt and we understand more about his background and the pain and suffering he and his brother went through as children living with his mother. He was a broken boy until he met Alex and what I adored about their relationship is that they healed each other. In Plastic Hearts, Dane helped Alex and in turn in Glass Hearts, it was Alex’s turn to provide her strength to Dane to allow him to grow as a character as well.
I definitely experienced a range of emotions while reading this book. Lisa knows how to write angst well! But with the angst, also came some sadness and times that really put a smile on my face. So with all of the obstacles that Dane and Alex will face, will they ever be able to catch a break and find happiness or will their insecurities and past prohibit them from moving forward? You will have to read this book to find out!
What I absolutely loved about these two books and Lisa’s writing is the realistic way she has shown to us readers that things are never easy in life. Often times, we have to roll with the punches because we never know what to expect or what will happen in our lives. Lisa has shown us how two broken individuals stopped running from their problems and together supported each other and loved each other enough to have their beautiful second chance with love. And for these characters to let go of their past and move forward and realize just how much they have in their life, was an amazing thing to discover with them. I will say here that Lisa totally knows how to write a make-out session or a sexy love scene – HOT!!!! The epilogue was beautiful and I am not going to lie to say I didn’t shed a tear or two.
There were definitely some interesting characters in this book and things I want to learn more about as Lisa continues with this series with some of the secondary characters.
