Reno Esponetti has known there was more to him since he awoke in the hospital, alive when he should have died. Only one thought consumed him. Find Tah. Watch over him. Protect him. Then everything changed.
A tempted tiger…
A mission gone wrong brings him face to face with a woman who tempts his tiger from hiding. He wants her with a fierce hunger that consumes him and shocks him with the possessive nature she awakens.
Mine…
Amia belongs nowhere. Not with the Blane family of hunters she was born into, and not with the dominant man who kidnaps her and turns her world upside down. She runs. She fights. And when the time comes, she pays the price. Running isn’t an option, and there’s no fighting a man who turns her inside out with unquenchable lust. Maybe, just maybe, she’s found where she belongs.
Lacey Thorn spends her days in small town Indiana the proud mother of three. When she is not busy with one of them she can be found typing away on her computer keyboard or burying her nose in a good book. Like every woman she knows just how chaotic life can be and how appealing that great escape can look. So toss aside the stress and tension of the never ending to do list.
good characters and story but lack of closure is a total deal breaker here
Ok so the story and characters were impressive. The sex was hot. It wasn’t as out of control as in the first book but it still had some steam and I think I preferred the sex in this book over the first. My problem is, as soon as things started getting good it just ended? I went to turn the page and it was the authors note. Wtf!!! This just pissed me off. I get that this is a series, but when I was done with this one it just felt incomplete. I can even accept a cliffhanger on occasion, but this wasn’t even that. It just ended without any warning at a spot where you expect to have more on the next page, only there is nothing...it was a very odd way to end a book and was quite frustrating. To pay $4.99 for a 200 page book that ends so abruptly did not leave me a happy camper. While I admit the writing was good and this series has great potential I'm skeptical to continue a series that ends half-@ssed like this. I doubt I'll continue onto the next book. Even though I really did like this hero and heroine the lack of closure and price tag for this short read left a bad vibe for me.
I really enjoyed Reno in the second installment of Lacey Thorn’s Awakening Pride series. I loved his interaction and loyalty to his friends and was excited to learn that he would be next to have his story told. It was obvious that there was something different about Reno but I loved that the focus was less on his “other” characteristics and more on the character of the man. And his strength and ideals were further showcased when he met Amia. He knew Amia was his in spite of her family. She totally fit him. She had a bedrock of honesty and a strong ethic. She fought to preserve life even if that life was different. I loved that regardless of the consequences she did what was right. Both Reno and Amia were fully developed characters. They both had an inner strength and determination to fight the good fight. I loved that Reno fought for Amia and Amia fought equally as hard for Reno. Ms. Thorn balanced these characters remarkably well all while allowing the chemistry they had to grow naturally. In Tempting the Tiger, Ms. Thorn gave us a well written and enjoyable story. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series.
Here's the thing, we know all along that Reno is a tiger, it is right there in the title, right? So if that is the case, then why is it such a secret or unknown in the book? That's a just wondering thing that was niggling at me, so had to put it out there
The story, oh, the story, Amia broke my heart. Right from the start, she was so.... abused, there is no way around it. Made hopeless over time, but still determined to fight on, terrified of what happens to her, but continuing to take the actions that cause it to happen. She is the true hero in this book, and she gets that distinction above all others because of this
Reno is your typical over-protective, alpha, male shifter who has found his mate. I loved him for his dedication and unwavering support for Amia. His beast is strong, but the human he is even just as strong, showing he, the person, is in control.
These two are dynamite together, and while the story doesn't end on a cliff hanger, you are waiting for the next installment to get more story at the end.
Another good read with steamy scenes. I felt so bad for Amia for allowing herself to go through what she was putting herself through in order to save others. I'm just waiting to see what will happen when everyone really come together.
I devoured Lacey Thorn's newest release, Tempting the Tiger and I still wanted more. Her Awakening Pride series has become one of my favorites. The author brought forth so many different emotions with this story that I could not put it down and became so invested in what was happening with all the characters. It was gut wrenching and heartbreaking to see what her heroine, Amia Blane, had to endure at the hands of her murderous family of hunters. I loved how strong, brave and unselfish she was in helping to free shifters despite knowing what would happen to her once she was caught. Those scenes were detailed so vividly that I could imagine her pain.
I had liked Reno when he appeared in book 1 and was intrigued at what his story would be. I was not disappointed and I fell more in love with him as he and Amia fell in lust with each other after she saved him. Their chemistry was sizzling and the sex scenes were so scorching hot, hot, hot. I enjoyed how protective they were of each other and the rest of the pride family. I also loved the bond that Reno had with pride leader and best friend, Tah and the potential conflict if he had to choose between his mate and best friend. Reno also showed his romantic side behind his alpha maleness and he had me swooning when he declared to Amia that she was his heart, his soul, his mate *sigh* The author wrote some amazing and heartfelt lines in this story.
I loved that we got to see more of Tah and Abby and witness more of their love for each other and also seeing the remaining characters and their involvement in protecting their "family". I cannot wait to read the next book which should be Logan's story.
Amia Blane has known pain that only few can imagine. Being the daughter to one of the known hunter families she was expected to be an asset and help. Instead she became a weakness and one that prevented the Blane's from killing. But Amia is determined as long as she lives to save as many people as she can from the clutches of her family.
**My whole life I never knew a man like you existed. You are mine, Reno. You fill my heart, soothe my soul and fill me with wonder at what can be. I never dreamed of you or wished for you.... You take all broken pieces of me and make them whole. You make me whole. For me, there will always be you."**
Reno knows there is something different in him. After almost dying he knew he had to find his friend Utah Pierce. However, he never expected the journey they would be going through. When his mission goes wrong he ends up in the hands of hunters determined to kill him. But the lovely Amia saves him, and doesn't realize just how much she tempts this other being inside him.
**"You tempted the beast awake, and now only you can control him."**
I actually loved this story. The sex was off the charts, not as much as the first, but no less steamy and hot. The only thing that prevented me from giving 5 stars was the quick anal session. I'm all for anal in my books, but I don't think it's realistic for someone who's never done that to not have any work-up and do it within one day.
Reno goes to do some reconnaissance on some hunters that threaten the pack, when he gets captured and tortured. In comes Amia to save him from the family that has done the same, and worse, to her. Reno immediately wants her and wants to protect her, but she resists because she knows that her family will be after her, and they always find her. What I didn't like about this is that she said "why doesn't he understand"...but she's not trying to MAKE him understand. Telling him the whole story would help everybody involved...letting him know how they always find her, and they could have maybe figured out why sooner (but it sure took them long enough even though they ares supposed to be former military). I liked the fact that Reno was all like "mine" but when asked about the mating he denied it, and that could have saved both he and Amia more agony.
The sex was hawt! Warning, there is some anal, but I personally thought it was sexy.
I would to know more about the Jess that was mentioned and her mating with 4 wolves, but I couldn't find a book about them. I hope this is explored later.
Overall this book was good, but it's obviously a part of a series since there is not a satisfactory conclusion, and things that were in the first book about the legend aren't explained in this book. I'm hooked, though
This review is going to be really short because why should I write a complete review when the book just sto
Yep, it just ends out of nowhere. Extremely unsatisfying and leaves me with absolutely no desire to continue series. No cliffhanger. We didn't even get to the cliff. We were just on the trail and then lights out.
Here are my notes that I tagged on my ereader:
1. Is soundproofing a barn necessary and by a bunch of hicks...huh? A lot was made about how this barn was soundproofed but it's a barn in the bad guys complex located remotely in a small town.
2. It really didn't make sense that these super-hick bad guys were incredibly sophisticated when it came to their operation of "kill dem unholy shifters". In fact, these hillbillies were so much more sophisticated than the educated hero's that it made no sense. And as a southerner, I really appreciate when an author makes the Colorado hick bad buys have a southern accent. Thanks so much for that stereotype! Sooo original!!!
3. Anal unrealistic. Yes, that's my note. Easy-in anal really annoys me and takes the taboo out of anal which is lame.
Overall: Complete waste of time and author should be ashamed. Harsh but true.

WOW, reading this particular book will take you on an adventure that will pull out every emotion that you are capable of feeling!!! Believe me when I say that you are going to be sitting on the edge of your seat reading this book and waiting with bated breath for the next thing to happen in this particular story!!!
5 stars for this particular book and series is the least that I can give this particular book and series!!! Recommending this book is a joy to do, because when you read this book, you will find yourself curled up on your favorite chair reading about these amazing and wonderful people until you get to the end and then you will be waiting with bated breath for the next installment!!! This author is one of the most unique and creative that I have ever come across and the way that this series starts is so unusual in the way that it starts out with a story about cat-people who have been waiting for the time to reemerge into the world again!!! WOW, what a wonderful way to start a story!!!
I was really surprised that there wasn't any closure with the hunters. it really does end suddenly. & I was disappointed that there wasn't a fight at the end like with Abby against her uncle in the first book.... but with that said, I loved this book. I love Reno. I didn't think I would like any of the others in the series as much as Tah, but I do really really like Reno. a lot.
and Amia is so strong! I really enjoyed her character. she is so brave for everything she endured with her family. and with everything they put her through.
I can't wait to see Reno get his revenge for his mate...and I can't wait to see what Clara knows, and how Logan will fit into it all. and if course follow Abby and see the birth of the baby!!
Reno I loved him, "he rocked into her again. "I'll let you be the judge of how pretty my c*** is." Amia brings out his animal, "are we sharing the shower?" Just like that his c*** was rigid again, and damned if a sound like a effing purr didn't rumble from his chest." Amia is the only one that can soothe him and his beast that's what I love about this series, only their mates can calm them down, "she turned to Reno and rubbed her hand over his chest in an attempt to soothe him and was rewarded when the growl shifted into a purr." I hope the next book in this series comes out fast, I'm in love with the men in these books.
I was eager to read this 2nd of the series when I stumbled upon Lacey Thorn's PNR books. So now in this installment we see Reno and Amia. I liked them as a couple. amia had a lot of issues she had to deal with. And Reno's inner beast comes out. And of course he's very possessive as all alpha males are.
I loved his friendship with Tah (the head of their pride). Even when Reno gets mad at Tah he still keeps himself in check because he knows Tah is the leader.
We also get to see what has happened between Tah and Abby since the last book.
Overall this was a good installment to the series and I can't wait to read up on the other Pride members.
when I read the first book in the series I was hooked. I was so excited when the second one came out I bought it and when I sat down to read it I couldn't put it down. Amia's story broke my heart, I couldn't help but cry. The romance and steamy sex between her and Reno, OMG!!! Awesome is all I can say! Lacey is such a talented writer and she reels you in at the beginning of her stories. I will definitely read the next in her series.
The second book in this shifter series; it was as good as the first. Ms Thorne's books are very erotic. This series also adds suspense as the shifters know nothing about their abilities to shift or about their beasts. They are being hunted and killed by a group of hunters. These are their stories of survival and growing knowledge. As a shifter finds his mate he is driven by insatiable need making the sex scenes hot and explicit. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
Sometimes the hero you get is just the one you need
This book is such a seamless continuation of the long reaching story line of the series. The author brought all of our favorite characters back, gave us more to fall in love with, shed a little more light on the broad background story, painted the enemy with a more dastardly brush, and even set up a few more possible love connections. Oh, and she brought us a HEA that you are sure to love. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
Loved this book. This is the second book in this series and I couldn't put it down once I started. I couldn't believe how brutal Amia's family was. When Reno was sent to look into her family's farm I knew trouble would start and the action just flowed from the pages from there. This story has it all strong characters, surprising plots twists and hot sex. I recommend this book to anyone that loves paranormal books.
Second book in series.need to read them in order. This is a great paranormal series you have got to read. Hot sexy shifter, destined mate, bad men chasing after them, great sex scenes. This book has a great story and is not all about sex.Well written had me hooked from page one once again. This series reminds me a little of The Breeds series which i absolutely love. I really hope i do not have to wait too long for book 3 to come out cause i really wanna know more about Logan and his mate.
I really am loving this series so far. The concept of shifters is different and refreshing. The intimate scenes are still a little awkward but are getting better. The ending of this book, major cliff hanger and was very abrupt. For me, this did not take away from the story for me. But in the next book I would like some of the loose ends tied up. Clara, hunters, other shifters, everything is just left out in the open but not explained. I will continue to follow the series.
She did it again! Lacey thorn wrote a fabulous book that I couldn't put down! This time the story centers around HOT alpha shifter Reno and his unsuspecting mate, Amia. The two of them together are combustible. There's nothing better than a good back story to suck you into a book and Thorn more than delivers. Amia's story pushed my emotional buttons and kept me on my toes to the very end. Well done Lacey Thorn!
3.5 stars. I enjoyed the first book more, but this one was good. It just had a lot of hard/depressing subject matter and the push/pull got old. I was also disappointed in her treatment by his friends. It definitely continues the series. While each couple gets together in one book, the storyline is not completed and requires you to read the next installment. However, it does not affect the couple's HFN or HEA.
This is the second book in the series and so worth the read. This series is a little on the dark side with the Hunters but the love that spills of the page among the friends more than make it easier to read. I will definitely read the next book!
Read it too quickly. It would have been nice if the book was a bit longer so that they could have bonded more. But it's not my book and I still loved it nonetheless. It's brilliant. Thanks for giving me a book hangover.
Good but I would have liked to have seen less sex and more story. Leans heavily toward erotica and there wasn't a lot of progression plot wise. I felt shortchanged...
Tempting the Tiger by Lacey Thorn is book 2 in the Awakening Pride series. An extremely well written and emotional story that had me tearing up many times.
!!! This review does contain plot spoilers !!!
Amia Blane was born into a family of cold-blooded Hunters. Her father suspected her of being able to identify shifters by seeing an unmistakable glow surrounding them. At the age of 16 she witnesses a bound and terrified young girl brought to her family compound. Amia stands up to her father and insists he release the girl. Her father interprets this as weakness and demands she begin training as a Hunter along side them. Using this to her advantage she is able to slip in and free the young girl. Once they reach safety they part ways and Amia manages to keep hidden from the Blane family (her own family) for 6 months.
When they find her they brutally beat her for her betrayal; they even bury her alive in an underground chamber for days at a time. Some scenes are descriptive and ALL are heart-wrenching. As a way to atone for her family's persecution she basically becomes a martyr to the Blane's savagery. Amia would escape her captors to only be caught again and again but within those months of freedom she was able to free more people.... and so it goes....
8 yrs later Reno Esponetti finds himself captured by the Blanes only to be rescued by the fierce and compassionate Amia. As they navigate their escape Reno feels his beast rousing inside him, prowling and growling to claim Amia. Reno is a commanding alpha male and the perfect mate for Amia as they work together to face her demons and discover unanswered questions about the Paka Watu legend.
The author does a great job delivering an emotionally impactful story. If you can handle the darker aspects of this beautiful story I recommend you give it a try. I guarantee you will be just as taken with these characters as I am.
Dual POV - Amia and Reno Spicy and descriptive - consensual - no virgins No cheating - no ow/om drama Fated mates Descriptive violence/torture/past trauma Recommend reading book 1 in the series to better understand the legend but not necessary IMO - the author provides a brief recap of B1.

Wow! Great story while the plot unfolds. I can't get enough of the characters. The romance is hot and fast, like nano speed. But it's a PNR full of shifters. It's not gonna be like human encounters. The emotional aspect of each person is gripping and unforgettable. I highly recommend this book and am on to next in series.
