A HFN adult pirate fairytale. Not a story for the fainthearted, which obviously I'm not as I found it a good read. The story flowed nicely, the torture was depraved and unique. I learnt a new word, woodled, basically a rubber band around the breast and tightened either side by twisting the band around an object. In this case it leather strips tightened by belaying pins. Not sure that a person could withstand what the mother did without severe internal injury and mental anguish and recover as well when rescued. Mary was representative of what most in that situation would do and I found it quite sad but very realistic when Charlotte didn't even know Mary's surname. Overall an entertaining read.
I know a review coming from me is essentially worthless - I'm the man's student when it comes to writing and he edits my work, but I think I like Deep Waters more than I liked Challenge of Love. Deep Waters had some real tension in it and the main characters didn't act like idiots. Some of the torments were a little intense, and wild for that matter, but I loved the visuals. Definitely one of my favorite Michael Alexander books.
