About the author

Ian C.P. Irvine

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

Interesting

I read the first free part of this book which seemed to be all over the place with so many different stories going on. I could not see what GM foods, ghosts and kidnapping had in common. By the time I had finished the first book and had to pay to read the 2nd , I found myself totally disinterested and didn't care enough about the characters to continue.
However, due to my tenacious nature I carried on with book 2 and was very glad I did. I really enjoyed the interaction with the transients and how the 2 worlds connect. I thought the graphic sexual detail in the kidnap story was totally unnecessary and brought nothing to the story at all.
The whole saga was extremely far fetched but overall an enjoyable read if not taken too seriously.

I will definitely read more of IAN CP. IRVINE in the future

Excellent read

Once again I enjoyed one of ian c,p Irvine's books,I have been reading some of the reviews and cannot for the life of understand that some reviewer's complaint's are about the fact that some first books are free and they think that it is a con that they have to pay for the next book, for goodness sake it is only £1.99, so you only in actual fact have to pay a pound for one really excellent read per book .in life there are always people that like to complain I,m afraid

This was another fine read from a new favourite author. The stories involve a few things I greatly believe in which means I read these books in a very short time.
This books involves a lot of characters from The Others and Pete's Story and it was good to read of their characters evolving. This book involves GM seeds and food and a drug used to treat dementia being seen as a way to view and communicate with 'transients' who haven't been able to cross over yet

Enthralling

This book was a real page turner, complete with ghosts, GM questions of morality, the use of drugs allowing one to see ghosts and the disappearance of a young woman named Debbie. All of these events and more worked together to create an interesting, thought-provoking story. I loved it!!

Cracking read!

As with all the books I have read by this author, I couldn't put it down. Heart thumping, hesitant to turn page in case something bad happens to main characters but also needing desperately to know what's next.
Brilliant read, it's almost like watching it happen. Loved it

Disappointed

I am an avid ghost Hunter so of course I was drawn to this book. Being perfectly honest with you, I found the story to be very disjointed, the characters weak and finishing it was difficult. I rarely leave a book unfinished, but this one was so poor, I nearly have up. I don't think I will be buying any more by this Author in the future.

Conspiracy and reality

I read the first book for free but it left me hanging so I immediately bought this book. Part 1 was in the front! A couple of stories within a story. The characters jumped to life in the page and the conspiracy of modified seeds made you wonder! Loved the book and can't wait to read more of his writint!

Unusual Story

The reporter investigated the results of GM produce on the soil. The company worked to hide the results and even killed farmers to cover them from revealing. The characters are realist and interacting in a good story. The action is very interesting and seems to education very the reader.

Was a good book, but different venues have different titles (Set Me Free!; Susie's Story), so you may need to look for it under a different title. I really wish this book, and the first one weren't two separate books.
Peter, a newspaper reporter, discovers a story about the GMO industry and its effects on a variety of environmental aspects. However, there are people that don't want this information out there and will go any length to keep it "secret." The question is which side succeeds?

Page turner

I rarely purchase books from Amazon, preferring to read the free ones. However, book one of this series was so good that I had to purchase the next one, I was not disappointed. Lots to think about and a fast paced thriller. Highly recommend

Definitely not Susie's story

The name is definitely misleading as Susie features very little in the book. However it is still a great read. Would definitely recommend

This was as gripping as the first one. Have to say I’m quite sad that it’s all over now. Would love to read a series of books of Peter helping transients.

A completely disjointed book that tries to blend way too many storylines into a 2 book story with vapid, unlikeable characters

loved reading this book, it was gripping and although there was a lot going on in the story it was all easy to keep up with as so well written, and the way it all worked out was great... would recommend book, but it is a must that you read the first book.
