*MC’s Corner* Note: Spoilers. I just saw this one. I liked the cover. Yummy! I love miniseries so I got it. BLAZING HOOOOOT! WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE?
I read the little teaser for the next one… I am now confused with the cover. I mean are they going to do it again? SAY YES. #PERV If I am not mistaken... they didn’t use some protection. Hmm, @gleekidMC
This book left me with an unfinished feeling.......although there was a warning set the start that this was a 3 book series. Might need to read the rest.
Deborah Withers has spent her life with a mother who never got over her husband leaving her. She worked hard at school so she could get into Oxford University. She would be the first in her family and at her school to be accepted there. All her plans went down the tubes when her mother screwed up the financial forms leaving Deborah with no way to pay for the school of her dreams. Her mother always told her she was meant to stay at the local supermarket and work with her mother for the rest of her life but that was the last thing she wanted to do.
One day Deborah gets a call that changes her life, a lady only known as Mrs. Sparks offers her a full scholarship and Oxford a once forgotten dream was real again. She packs up and leaves without even saying goodbye to her mother. A life of not being loved by her mother could anything be worse? When she arrives at the Sparks manor, Deborah learns more about them in the two days she there then she ever expected. Is the cost of going to University worth the price she’s about to pay?
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. At first I thought this was going to be a typical billionaire saves poor girl book but it’s far from that. Mrs. Sparks shocked me, I did not expect her to be the cold calculated woman that she is and her action while in Deborah’s room left me wondering what game is she’s playing. I found Mr. Sparks to be a typical male hitting his mid-life crisis and going for what he shouldn’t have. Deborah may come off as a strong female but the life she had with her mother has worn her down and she is very much a naïve young girl who is looking for love in all the wrong places as she never truly got it from the people that should’ve given it to her, her mother and father. This is a great start to the series as I want to know what both Mr. and Mrs. Sparks next move will be and how Deborah will deal with this new life she was handed. I would recommend this series to my fellow readers.
I received an ARC complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Deborah Withers has spent most of her school years studying to go to Oxford, yet after all the years of studying, awards, and good grades she won’t be able to do it. Her Mother has spent most of her childhood years pining away for her father, a man who married her Mother and left not long after to return to his homeland and obtain a whole new family, just as though Deborah and her Mother never existed. Until one day when she is called to an impromptu meeting at Oxford and told that a benefactor would be paying her school fees and she would be able to attend Oxford after all. All she needed to do was spend a weekend with Mrs. Sparks. Up front Mrs. Sparks comes across as wealthy, proper, and a bit uptight. This is a long way from where Deborah comes from with her Mother, stocking groceries shelves to survive, hoping her father would call, and her Grandmother being the only uplifting figure in her life. But it isn’t just Mrs. Sparks and Deborah in the Sparks’ family home for the weekend, the Sparks’ son Simon is there as well and unannounced Mr. Sparks announces for a weekend visit as well. I don’t want to give too much away but I think you can get the idea here.. the older man is attracted to the family’s most recent charity project, and Deborah is already attracted to him and will do nothing to stop it. This is a quick 40 page novella that will leave you wanting for more, well worth the quick read if you don’t have time to become fully invested in a novel and just need a quick spicy read for your train ride, or a quick beach read. This is part one of a six part series, and I need the next one in the series! I don’t think Mrs. Sparks is as innocent as she seems and I think Mr. Sparks is well aware of that. Fun, start to a new series! Thank you , to J.S. Wilder for the opportunity to read and review the first in this new flirty series. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one in the series!
This is a good start to a new series by a new author. Is it perfect? No. But it's not bad either. Part one is very short, I was able to read it in about an hour, but it sets up nicely everything that will soon follow.
The story features Deborah, a virginal eighteen year old girl from the poor side of town, who wants to better herself. She has had no support from her mother, but Deborah has buckled down in school and gotten grades good enough to be accepted to Oxford. However, her scholarship soon falls through, and she thinks her dreams are dead.
Suddenly a guardian angel in the form of a wealthy family appears and agrees to pay for her entire education. But nothing is ever really free. What will this generosity cost her?
I did have some problems with parts of the story. Here is a virgin who ends up having unprotected sex with a man she has just met. There is no mention of birth control or protection from STDs. At another point two fingers are suddenly shoved up her anus with no preparation and no lube, but she doesn't seem to mind it much.
There are also some spelling, grammar and typo issues, such as:
Using "muzzled" when she meant "nuzzled" "He started growling and speeding up pace." "exactly how felt."
However, if you can overlook these issues, then you might enjoy the story.
I really liked this novella. It was fun and hot! A young, somewhat gullible woman, learning about the really world and what it means to be an independent adult, with the help of a well educated, and wealthy teacher. *Insert giggles here*
Very good for a short story, and looking forward to reading the second part of the story.
I'm quiet confused with this whole book like I think I have whiplash. what's right what's wrong ? feels taboo I like it feels confusing I hate it. I don't even know anymore

I signed up for a story about Deborah, a girl fighting to get a college education despite obstacles. She worked her a** off during high school to get into her dream school and now has to find a way to pay for it. Instead, I got: 1) Deborah repeatedly complaining about her mother because her mother is in denial about her ex-husband (Deborah's dad) leaving them, which leads to her constantly trying to get him to return to them--even if it means using the daughter. Aside from it getting incredibly annoying to read. It's also very problematic. The mother's self-worth shouldn't be tied to her husband. Furthermore, she shouldn't want a man who abruptly leaves his wife and daughter because he was homesick then made no effort to connect with either of them after leaving.
2) Deborah also kept telling us how her grandma and cousins are great and she wishes she could spend more time with them. I get it; your mom sucks and your grams and cousins are awesome.
The most annoying thing about these two subplots is that they have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MAIN PLOT--i.e.: Deborah finally going to college despite her trouble with her mother and lack of funds. On top of these two subplots, the story abruptly shifts into an erotica? Wtf?
Needless to say, I felt deceived, disappointed, and confused by the end of this book and couldn't NOT RECOMMEND this enough if you're not looking for erotica.

This reads more like a complaint listing all the things she had not done in life and blames her mother and family heritage. Deborah wants to go to Oxford but her mother ruined her chances on her application. Three days before school begins Mrs. Sparks notified her that she is interested in paying for her education. Deborah asks no questions and joins her in her home. While getting settled into Mrs. Sparks home Deborah feels uncomfortable and out of place. Deborah wants to fit into this posh world so she is confused by the sexual advances being made by these people who brought her into their home. Deborah is not remotely offended by the physical contact and flirting going by these two. Deborah is a virgin with no experience and the smarts to get into Oxford but a dumb girl when it comes to moral issues. Mr. Spark feeds Deborah some story about Mrs. Sparks having men in their home so it was only fair to have a woman this time. It leads you to believe these two have an open marriage where they allow each other to have sexual relations with the students they choose to pay their way at Oxford. Therefore, Deborah allows a man she just met to have sex with her. It ends with Mrs. Sparks walking in on them. Then it gets confusing because Mr. Sparks starts laughing when Mrs. Sparks starts slapping him as if she is angry. It's a short story that has many more installments to follow. I'm going to pass. I might have liked this concept had their been consent from the beginning from all partners involved. The way the story unfolded had me laughing at its absurdity.
Every young woman's fantasy about being with a sexy older man, yet also her worst nightmare. All she wants to do is go to University, but she didn't ask for this... She certainly didn't expect anything like this to happen to her. She has always been a good girl, a good student who studied hard to earn good grades. She will get through it, she will graduate. I'm not used to reading novellas. I'm the type who looks for the first book in a series that has at least 3 out already. I was nicely surprised to find I enjoyed the first book in this six part novella series. It gave just the right amount of information to help me understand the first set of people you meet in the beginning of this story and the main characters that will move along to the second novella. It left off at a small cliffhanger that flowed right into the second book. I think I will enjoy my first novella series.
I enjoyed this series of novellas much more than Until Alex so if you have read Until Alex and feel like you do not want to read more by J.S. Wilder i urge you to reconsider. This series caught my attention from the get go, it take place over a period of years and Deborah and Roy have a relationship that keeps you on your toes. You think you know what will happen and then a slight curve ball makes you question who and what you trust. Mystery and intrigue abound and i enjoyed this series and i read them all back to back, as i needed to know what happens next at the end of each part.
Mini Series or not, but this book was just weird. I had NO connection whatsoever to the main character, half the time I didn't even know the name. There was too much stuff that confused me that half way through, I just gave up even reading. That's not like me, but this just wasn't for me at all.
So the book started slow for me but it didn't stay that way. Who knew that getting what you wanted would end up this way. It ended as a cliff hanger so I will have to find part 2 here soon because I must know what happens!
