Pia Blyton wants it all. A steady boyfriend, love and her independence. But to ignore her succubus nature is to welcome chaos. Every three days she must orgasm to feed. Bad sex isn’t an option. Stave off the hunger for too long and her demon side peeks out, and its tastes are much less discerning than hers.
One bad day, one wrong decision, and her demon takes control of her libido and kisses all her best intentions goodbye.
Brokenhearted and ashamed, Pia is dragged home to Lake City by Zur-Sin, a vampire her father paid to find her. Caught in a world where mortal desires are seen as a weakness, Pia needs to figure out how to protect her heart from her deepest longings.
Annie Nicholas hibernates in the rural, green mountains of Vermont where she dreams of different worlds, heroes, and heroines. When spring arrives the stories pour from her, in hopes to share them with the masses one day.
Mother, daughter, wife are some of the hats she happily wears while trudging after her cubs through the hills and dales. The four seasons an inspiration and muse.
1. She is succubus, ie she needs regularly sexual energy to feed 2. she is in love with a human who cannot feed her properly and 3. after a spontaneous moment she has just had sex with the married mailman
After her love of her life finds out and he kicks her out of their home, she decides to kill herself. Thus, she finds a nice hotel room, she ties herself to bed and waits to die from sexual starvation. She almost succeds until a powerful vampire and his wearwolf assistant find her and force feed her a few orgasms.
This is book 1 in the series and I truly enjoyed it.
(I received a free copy of the book, when I joined Annie Nicholas's newsletter list)
Once again, I am reminded why Annie is one of my all-time favorite authors!
First of all, talk about HOT.
An irresistibly beautiful woman who relies on orgasms to survive?! Best romance-novel-plot ever.
But Pia is complicated; tortured and suffering, waiting for the right person (or creature) to come along and salvage her shredded soul.
Enter Zur-Sin, the ancient vampire. Being almost as old as time, he knows a lot about a lot. But, turns out Pia is able to show him a thing or two.
I thought I had the story figured out from the beginning. I was completely wrong! (Believe me, I read A LOT of romance books). Granted, this is the first book of the series, so more of the story is on the way (YAY!!!).
In true Annie-fashion, the voice of the heroine is 100% real, slightly sarcastic and easily believable. Annie makes it so easy to empathize with not only Pia, but the male characters as well.
I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book to come out so I can finally find out what happens!!!!

Ravenous is a prequel to Starve for love, a book about Pia Blyton, a succubus who only wants to be in love and be loved back, even if it's almost impossible for her kind, she still hopes one day it'll happen. Otherwise what's the point in living a loveless life?
So here, Pia has some troubles to accept and be what she is. She hates herself and her life especially after her Relationship with Pierre, the human she's in love with ended up a disaster. That day broke her heart and probably Pierre's too.
One day changed everything for her. She had hoped she could stay faithful to one man and live like a normal being but she found out that the hunger is more powerful than she thought. She can't control it when it wants out. Desperate, she
Then Zur-Sin (Sin) found her after a week. He's a vampire and since he's been employed by her father to save her, he tried to "feed" her even if she doesn't want to. The thing is, she has to be the one to orgasm to be fed and Pia is more into nice and sweet guys.
After that, she doesn't want to go back to her family so she stays to Sin's "nest" where she has to do what he says and feed on the guys he choose.
Now, she may be healthy physically but she's still a mess mentally. She doesn't have the will to live and thinks she deserve to be punished for all she's done. One night stands makes it worse and she can't be around sweet guys for too long because she'll once again fall in love.
They're in search of three "suitors" that she could be comfortable enough with to feed on but wouldn't fall in love with.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book who wasn't too short or too long for a prequel. It was hot ans steamy and I loved the characters (Pia, Cooper, John, Sin). I think it's a really good way to introduce Starved for love, even if we hadn't met that guy (the Incubus) yet, I'm kind of curious about him. Maybe I'll read it :).

Omgosh! What an excellent book! This is the first book I've read by Miss Annie Nicholas and I have to admit, I'm in LOVE! There wasn't a single thing I didn't like about this book. Beautiful characters in a well planned world. I was over the moon when I found out its a series! Of you like demons, vampires, werewolves, etc then you definitely need to come meet Pia, Sin and the gang ans read this top notch fantasy/ supernatural book. You won't be able to put it down cause neither could I! And I seriously can't wait to get my hands on the next one.
I'm leaving this review of my own free will. In no way have I been bribed, coerced or paid to leave this review.
This prequel was smoking hot! I enjoyed getting to know Pia and Sin and the secondary characters in this story. I look forward to reading more about Pia, a succumbus looking for love.
Purch Amazon Oct. 3, 2016 Ravenous (Lake City Stories, #0.5) by Annie Nicholas is an Adult Paranormal Romance and 115 pages long. Let's get the negatives out of the way right now. There were 3 editing errors. There are no other negatives! The story flows smoothly and leaves you thirsting for more. The storyline is so well represented you can easily visualize the scenes and the other characters. I never thought I would LOVE a story about a succubus. I was so wrong! Pia is a great character. She is a very young succubus and things are not going well for her in the 'Love' department. She doesn't want one night stands. She wants real love. This leads her to make some very disastrous choices. Those choices lead to some very humorous situations for us to read about, though Pia is not laughing! Now the nitty gritty. There are 3 stories in this series so far. This one is a .5, which means it was written after the 2nd story. It's free at the time of this review on Amazon. Amazon it says 125 pages. The 2nd story (which is actually the 1st story) is 'Starved For Love'. It is listed on Amazon for 2.99 at 168 pages. The 3rd story is 'Sinful Cravings'. Priced at 2.99 on Amazon and 192 pages. Since the 1st page count for 'Ravenous' is 10 pages less than what's listed, deduct 10 pages per book. That makes it 5.98 for about 455 pages. A very good bargain. Especially when you take into account how fantastic this story is. If this was the first time I read one of her books I would be more leery. But, I read her 1st book in the 'Vanguard Elite' series. It impressed me too. I don't think I am easy to impress. Her style of writing, her implementation of humor, all the elements she puts into these stories has got me convinced to make her one of my new favorite authors. I am so getting the next book in this series! :)
Pia was starving and needed to feed. Her boyfriend wasn't available so the mailman has to do. After the feeding the guilt was too much for her and she decided to end the suffering. But, her father had sent a powerful vampire to look after her and he made sure she survived. This succubus story was very interesting and I'm interested in the follow up. Sin character was a complex one. He was very powerful but Pia seemed to undoing him. On other hand, Pia was immature, youth and easy to influence. Their chemistry was special and they were getting nearer. Liked the characters, the beginning of this books and I'm eager to continue with this stories.
I was so bummed there wasn't another book about Tane/Connie/Ruick, the I started this and I'm hooked again! Her characters draw you in. I adore Pia as much as I did Connie & the men as well I love theyre detailed delightful quirks & personalities. Great story too. The world the characters is set in is detailed & unique I really have an out of Jody experience reading her wonderful book!
Steamy prequel to Starved for love. It's hot from the start. Quick, fun read that was hard to put down. I love Pia. She's a succubus who just wants to be loved. I can't wait to read more of her story. And the interesting guys in her life. ;)
I was given this book for an honest review. There are no words to describe how amazing this book was. I was sad that it was so short. I didn't want it to finish. I loved it. Highly recommend it.
What does a succubus do when she is trying to mend a broken heart yet still needs sex to feed? This is a complicated story about a complicated character. Pia is overcome with guilt over her demon's inclination to feed. She can't seem to allow herself to feed from stangers in order to not starve. Her heart wants love yet her body needs to feed from many sources. Pia is so damaged over what she did to her human lover who does not know what she is that she resorted to try to kill herself or allow a dom to punish her. She is trying to do anything in her power to punish herself because she feels she deserves it. Enter very powerful vampire zar-Sin takes her in upon the request of her family. He takes her in and provides for her. She becomes his pet. They somehow form a bond...maybe friendship? maybe ownership? I don't know yet. I found out this is a prequal to a series. I don't normally like same-character-series stories and I can't always get into stories with much angst. I don't usually go for stories with many partners either but this peaked my interest from the beginning. I like it. I can't help but wonder if she will fall in love with the vamp or the other lovers. I can't help but wonder if she will eventually be happy (and maybe love?) her multiple partners and then her life. I feel for Pia. I feel for her broken heart. This interested me enough to buy book #1 of the series Starved For Love.
Not my cup of tea. This was my first story about succubus and although I have an idea of what they do, that is, suck life or energy from other beings in order to survive, the premise of this story intrigued me enough to want to read it. Pia is our succubus that just wants to live an independent life away from her family because she never lacked enough morals to be a true succubus. To be more specific, she cannot subsist on sex alone and feels the need to fall in love or at least have some kind of relationship with the partner she's having sex with. At one point during her self-imposed estrangement from her family, she breaks some rules and she feels she's left them down one too many and decides she will never be ever to face them again. I actually liked the girl. She seemed a real enough girl with enough flaws to make her a believable character. I liked her world, I liked her supportive family. I even liked the few secondary characters that happened to show up to fill up the story, that I know will play a more important part in the books to come (this is a prequel to a series). I just didn't like the creature that was Pia. She was supposed to orgasm every 3 days in order to survive. And she had to do it with a different partner ... That's just ...No... I know I'm going to get drilled because obviously the blurb said everything I needed to know about the book before I picked it up but I guess I was just hoping for a more imaginative way of portraying the situation. There was just not enough darkness to be an erotica and no romance whatsoever to make it a romance. Now this is just a prequel but Pia's "conundrum" didn't do anything for me and I just don't feel like picking up the rest of the series. Maybe others will enjoy this book and will find it fascinating but I can only give it 2 stars, and only because I really, really liked Pia. *I RECEIVED THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*
Whoa what a book. I mean I have read other books with a character being a succubus but man not like this one. I don't think I could handle it. Would it be a blessing or a curse? In this book Pia feels it is a curse, especially after she falls in loves then betrays that man. Lost and alone she feels the only way out is to die...To me she was like most women who long for someone to love and be loved in return. only we don't have to feed every 3 days. Hmm maybe we are more alike than we think.
Meet Zur-Sin, Master and Vampire has been hired by Pia's dad to find her. When he does Pia isn't too happy about it even though he is willing to feed her. He is downright cruel to her with his words and actions. But he is Hot. lol.
From here to the end of the book Pia's father and Sin try to save her from giving up, but can they? And who does she feed on without falling in love again? hehe
Naughty and Exciting. I'm calling it PNR and Erotica come together with a Bang and leaves you hanging at the end. Sigh. Definitely a 18+ reader audience, there is some steamy scenes in this one.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of the book by the author for my honest review. I didn't realize that I had also grabbed it on Amazon. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog
*Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest opinion*
When I learned that the main character of this book was a succubus and that she required an orgasm ever three days, I know that this book had the potential to be a great books. The author did not disappoint.
This is not you momma's romance novel and was quite unexpected. The characters in this book were well thought out and their personalities had several layers, that seemed very believable. The book was well written though I felt like there wasn't much of a typical 'climax' in the story; with that said this is a prequel to a series so I am hoping that this book is only the back drop to a great series. Even without the typical climax or plot twist, the story was enjoyable and I had a hard time putting it down.
"4 out of 5 stars! This novella made me fall in love with Zur-Sin (Sin) even more! =0)
I know this is a prequel for the series, but I think it makes you like and understand this novella better if you read "Starved For Love," book 1 of this series, first."
I sped through this book! It was too easy to get swepr away in this swervy story that really does suck you in (pun intended) from beginnibg to end! Pia is fantastically real, the dialogue and interactions are natural and interesting. This is my first book by this authore and i love it, absolutely love it! The writing style is c lean and smooth, details get dispersed almost subliminally, it's like you know things and didn't realize thar she just gave it to you. The love scenes were hot and i finally learned th ed difference between incubi and sucubi! Bonus! Read this book! It's crazy good!
A very hot and did I say hot Paranormal prequel. At the time I read this I did not know it was a prequel. A succubus who must have orgasams in order to survive. A different plot for sure, Pia Blyton is the succubus who really wants a relationship. She jumps into trouble and is ashamed. Therefore, she takes off. Her father hires Sin, who is a Master Vampire to track his daughter down. What will happen with these willful two?
Wow This is a good book, not my usual read. But look interesting, will it is. Will the main character, will she find what she wants or will she follow in the family foot step? Will to find out more grab your copy and your favorite drink and turn the world off. I received a free copy for an honest review.
My first succubus story and it was fantastic. It surprised me how much I liked it, it had engaging characters and an engaging plot. I didn't know it was a prequel, but I definitely will be read the next book.
This is a funny and entertaining book! Pia the succubus has a bad habit of falling in love with her food. When she stretches herself too thin trying to be monogamous, she ends up starving and losing control. Check out what happens next in this great story!
Well damn this was a hot little number. Definitely interested in reading the other books in the series & seeing what antics Pia gets up to. Ps Sin = Top notch alpha
I should’ve know this wasn’t for me as soon as succubus was mentioned, but I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, so I wanted to check it out. I’m writing this review after already reading the next two books, which made me more favorable to this one. I didn’t really like this book, but with each book I liked the story more.
For this book, it’s about succubus, Pia. At the start of the story, she’s trying to stay with the human she loves, but he can’t feed her enough, so it’s a losing game. Things end badly; Pia must return home and she must find donors; people to give her orgasms to feed her succubus nature every 3 days. If she’s not fed well enough, she becomes sex crazed and will hop up on anyone to get off. Lots of sex going on with random guys she just met; vampires and wolves, etc. are all part of this series. There isn’t much deep emotion going on in Pia’s sexual experiences. I’m not a fan of succubi and incubi because it’s too much like rape to me, and I don’t like all the shallow sex with randoms. Plus, there’s ménage stuff, and that just not my thing. The story does have some interesting elements and the writing is good. Also, I liked the next two books better than this one, but I did end up skimming a lot of the sex scenes throughout this whole series. I just don’t find them at all pleasurable. Still an entertaining series though.
It's not having what you want; it's wanting what you've got
Pia Blyton of Lake City is a good girl. She's smitten with her boyfriend, wouldn't dream of being with anyone else, and they're talking marriage. So why is Pia chained to a bed, near death, and fighting her rescuers with her last ounce of strength? It's complicated.... Pia is a succubus, a demon who feeds on sexual energy. An orgasm evey three days is the bare minimum required for her survival. And human men just can't keep up. Her attempt to starve her demon to death results (In no particular order): Daddy the Head Incubus-in-Charge gives up half his kingdom to save her, the ancient vampire Daddy hires has no problem feeding her; the werewolf who assists likewise, also the mazzakim demon, and for the rest of the story Pia is a supernatural sexual force be reckoned with. She delightfully, defiantly, and/or diligently (depending on your point of view) succeeds in feeding from every supernatural on Daddy's NO-NO list. All it takes is the magic balance - they have to WANT each other, but not love each other. Exactly what Pia DOESN"T want for herself. What's a frustrated succubus to do? Don't answer that. Just read the book and laugh/snort/wheeze/giggle while you do. Repeat as needed - or until the sequel shows up. This has been a voluntary ARC review.
This book introduces Pia, a succubus suffering from a broken heart, Sin, an ancient, powerful vampire and Cooper, a gentle wolf-shifter, both of whom rescue her from near-death. She doesn’t want to be rescued, thinking to herself, “My demon nature couldn't feed if I couldn't escape the room. I hadn't expected take-out to show up." I loved Pia’s sense of humor, referring to her rescuers as “take-out” because she feeds from them to survive.
Although Sin is, in many ways, a complete jerk, there is some part of him that cares about Pia because he takes care of her and seems to enjoy her company. She is certain she can never fall in love with him, but I find this hard to believe. She confides in him and treats him as one might treat a best friend, plus she enjoys sex with him. At one point, she crawls into bed with him during the day while he sleeps and cuddles up to his lifeless body to cry. Later, he asks her, "Why did I wake with my shoulder smelling like dried tears and snot?" If he didn’t care for her, would he put up with that? The book ends with Sin hinting about an incubus he thinks would be a good match for Pia. She shuts him down, but it’s clearly foreshadowing of what will happen in the next book. I’m looking forward to it.
Pia is an anomaly in the world of Succubi - she can't feed unless she feels something for her "meal". She just can't go out hunting like her sisters or her trio of mothers. So much so, she almost kills herself having a monogamous relationship with a human.
So when she is hunted down by a paranormal bounty hunter, she makes a deal with him; she's staying with him and his coven until she gets back to "normal".
So what happens when you mix reluctant succubus, ancient vampire, lonely were, and an unassuming demon? No that's not the beginning of a joke - this is Pia's new life!
Succubi have some weird rules for a race brought to their knees by their need for sexual energy! I loved Pia; she so does not want to be a slave to her nature. She wants more from life and she does have a pretty good example to look up to in her dad and her 3 x mums!
This was such an interesting read, showcasing a succubus, Pia, and her emotional issues with needing sex to survive. She starts off in a really bad place and Sin, a vampire without a conscience, is hired to find her and return her to her family. Of course, nothing goes to plan and he ends up helping her a lot more than he intended. Liking her more than he intended. We meet all kinds of interesting characters, family and get some good world building as we go along. Pia's journey isn't finished, however, and I can't wait to dive into the next installment to see how things progress for her.
