What an incredible book! It's huge and it contains pictures of dogs from the 1800's and up - oh and some others older than that. Lots of heartfelt quotes about dogs and how they make our lives complete. There are a few pics that made me uncomfortable so I passed by them quite fast. This is one of the very few books I will read and look at again!
What a great but weird-ass book. It pretends to be nothing but an excuse to look at pictures of a thousand dogs and that is reason enough for a book, but the short essays that begin each section appear to show a hidden agenda and that is to give a history of dogs in photography. The problem is, that the book soon becomes a history of photography that is merely illustrated by dog photos, then returns to being a history of dogs in photography. MAKE UP YOUR FREALIN' MINDS!
Yes, the text should be better but the photos of dogs to make up for this defect.
