Amazing plot line with a little bit of spice. I do however wish the book had an epilogue, but still it was a well-written, story-telling book.

4.5 stars for Claire and Derek's story.

Derek is a widower with a six year old, smart little girl--Naomi. He's retired from a profitable job prior to her birth to care for and raise her. He has no time or interest in dating, despite his sister, Stacey's constant interfering.
Claire is and independent woman with no time for dating with her job of commercial real estate. She's in town to help her family's company make up for a loss her sister, Grace, was responsible for.

Claire meets Naomi at the town market. Derek watches their exchange and is intrigued by how well Claire converses with his daughter. As he joins in their conversation, he learns what Claire does and is able to work out a meeting with her with false hope of selling some of his land. Because of Derek's sister's meddling, women are constantly hitting on him and he comes up with a "deal" where she fake dates him to keep them away and he'll sell her some of his land. Everything with them escalates quickly. With their relationship based on lies, will they be able to make it?

Derek is really a golden retriever type MMC, he's just too nice for his own good--especially with his sister's constant interference in his dating life and then with Claire. Claire is also nice but cautious. These characters do mesh well together in bringing this story to it's hea. I liked the read, but I was frustrated so much with his sister and the ending was a bit abrupt for me. outside of this it was a nice, sweet read.

Derek and Claire's Story


This is a sweet love story about a workaholic woman and a widower who lost his wife in childbirth 7 years ago.
Derek Scott is a devoted father having left his high power financial position to raise his daughter.
Claire Barone is a realtor who works too hard and has no outside life. She meets Derek and his daughter Naomi and they are happy together.
A fake dating scheme turns real.
The blurb has the wrong last names for the main characters. Claire Barone is called Claire Winters and Derek Scott is called Derek Everett.
There are two annoying sisters - Grace (Claire's sister) and Stacey (Derek's sister) although Grace is just irresponsible with a gambling problem. Stacey is pushy and obnoxious as is her BFF.
The book is worth reading.

Will it lead them along the path to a happily ever after.

No longer pretending.

Claire is a realtor and runs the family business along with her reckless gambling sister. Claire has been cleaning up after her sister’s gambling problem for far too long. Now their business is on the line. That is how she met Dereck and his adorable sister Naomi. Derek has property she needs to save her business. He needs Claire to help him keep the aggressive women away. But their fake relationship quickly becomes much much more. Loved the characters and the storyline.

You need to get this romance book in your life right NOW. The electricity that is between Derek and Claire is HOT and you might feel a bit feverish if you're not careful. So, start reading and swooning over the storyline and characters because trust me they are FABULOUS just like this book is.
I also want to comment on the colors on the cover of this book. The green really pops and makes this HUNK look YUMMY. :).

Fall in love with this beautiful story of a single dad, his precious daughter and a realtor, we follow their path through it all, deception, set back, family. Love and taking a big chance. The principal characters are absolutely delightful, a workaholic woman and ex workaholic man, get ready to see fireworks explodes. Read it in one sit I couldn’t put it down.

Part of Cooper's Midnight Holiday Affairs, this is the only book thus far I've read in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. Cooper delivers a well written, captivating Christmas themed romance read. An age gap romance but the storyline is addictive, and the characters are delightful. Short but full of everything you could want. A beautiful Christmas themed romance!

Christmas List Surprise

Sweet and funny. Claire has come to Preston looking for some business opportunities and ends up meeting Derek and his daughter. All three of them getting along right from the start, setting up the story and evolution of these characters. I enjoyed the banter Claire and Naomi have as it is done with concern. This was an enjoyable read.

A really good story

This is a very nice story, with insta love and an adorable little girl that is very mature for her age. I liked how the age difference wasn’t an issue in the relationship and both Derek and Charlotte embraced their feelings. A good story for sure.

Sweet Christmas read
