I loved it. Just like the first book The Wager, The Game was a great read, and I have finished reading it in one sitting, unable to put it down even if I'm currently at work. I can’t just give up on Emilia and Rob. I needed to know what would happen to them, even though there were times they both annoyed and irritated me.

I won't go into details about the plot,l the blurb pretty much tells you all about the book. Although the story, the "fake-relationship/engagement trope," was kind of old, the author could pull it off and make it more believable.

Emilia and Rob were a ticking time bomb. They have to keep pretending to be engaged to each other; that would benefit both of them. But there's the thing about pretending, and it can become genuine and speedy. The more they get to know each other, the more they fall in love with each other. For a while, they were contented with what they have, but then reality set in.

I liked Emilia's character. She shows such strength and courage, and the things she experiences in this book are just dreadful, yet she handles it all reasonably well. Even though she'd been insulted and ridiculed. But I guess with her being an actress, and it goes with the job. But there are times that my heart breaks for her. But I admired her because, despite all that, she wouldn't hide away. As for Rob, I think he's the perfect match for Emilia. He's arrogant, stubborn, possessive, he's also cocky, successful, and he's too sweet, protective, and lovable when he wants to be.

I loved the mounting tension and feelings that these characters shared. There was also plenty of jaw-dropping-holy-shit-did-Emilia-really-do-or-say-that? Moments and lots of I-want-to-strangle-those bitches moments as well. And the way Rob groveled and declared his love for Emilia? *swoon*
"Things changed, and along the way it all became real. It was no longer a game."
Rob was utterly delicious. They were just so perfect for each other that you couldn't help but root for them to end up together.

And the Epilogue?
"Through all the roles I've played or will ever play, my most coveted one will be as your wife. Thank you for being there. I love you."

Same caliber as book 1. :)

Wonderful story. Darker than one, but wonderful. I highly recommend it. :) There are references to book 1 and 2 but can be a stand alone. 😊

A good quick read. A little too much angst, jealousy & misunderstanding in the middle of the book for 5 stars.

I have been enjoying this series immensely until I got to Rob and Emilia's story. I couldn't stand Emilia, annoyed me to bits. The storyline was also a little old. :0(
