As the oldest McDaniels boy, it’s always been Matty’s job to take care of his brothers, but lately, he’s been doing a crappy job of it. After a rough couple months, his brother Bash is finally back on track to make a big name for himself in the boxing world, but when his golden opportunity gets taken away, there’s nothing Matty won’t do to fix it. Even if it means making a deal with the devil…and his bossy, red-headed protégé.
Kayla James wasn't always notorious Boston mobster Mickey Flynn's right hand. Before that, she was nobody. He might not be perfect, but he took her in when she had no one else, and she’ll be forever in his debt. If he wants her to manage his cocky new MMA fighter and turn him into a money-making machine, she’ll do it…but she doesn’t have to like it.
Once she takes the job, though, she finds herself curiously attracted to Matthias McDaniels. He understands her better than anyone ever has, and she doesn't want to give him up, but it's only a matter of time before he discovers the truth about her...

Trust Me, Book One is the first part of Matty and Kayla's story, in The McDaniels Brothers Serial. Matty is the oldest of the McDaniels brothers, and has always been the brother to shoulder the responsibility of his younger brothers, Bash and Reid, and put them first, even above his own best interests. Matty has made a deal with, Mickey Flynn, a corrupt mobster. Now, Matty is locked in to a one year contract fighting the MMA circuit for Mickey, in exchange for Mickey getting his brother, Bash, a fight that will launch his boxing career.
Kayla, works for Mickey, and feels loyalty towards him, because he is the only person that has ever been there for her in her very difficult life. She has a passion for MMA fighting, and wants to be a fighter herself one day. When she is given the task by Mickey to manage Matty's career, she is disappointed at first. However, she starts thinking about this job as an opportunity to prove herself, and be a part of something big. When Kayla and Matty meet, sparks fly, but they don't trust one another. As they get to know each other, their attraction grows stronger, as they see just how much they have in common, and grow to have mutual respect for one another. However, Kayla is hiding an important secret from Matty. Then to top it off, Mickey, changes the game, and Kayla knows when she tells Matty, he is going to hate her forever...
The McDaniels Brothers Serial Series is a must read! I loved Bash and Olivia's story, but I have a feeling that I am going to love Matty and Kayla's story even more! I love Kayla's character. She has had a very tough life, and yet she's strong, sassy, independent, and assertive. She also has a very sweet and vulnerable side to her. I also love how loyal Matty is with his brothers. Even though he doesn't always make the smartest decisions, everything he does comes with their best interests at heart. Matty has come off as having such a large protective wall surrounding him, that it was really nice to finally see someone getting past it. I can't wait to see what happens next between Matty and Kayla. I am so worried about these too, and don't want Mickey to come in-between them, but I don't see how they are going to be able to be together. I give, Trust Me, Matty and Kayla Book One, by Christine Bell, 4.5 Suspenseful, Longing, Passionate, Rooting For Matty and Kayla Filled Stars!!!
*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Continuing with the McDaniels brothers, this begins Matty’s journey. And I can’t wait to find out if it’s as interesting as Bash’s…so far it definitely is.
Always the older protective brother, Matty goes behind Bash’s back – yet again – to square things with Mickey. A year of his life doing something he loves can’t be all that bad. Or at least he didn’t think so until he met his new manager, Kayla.
“I’m a healthy, twenty-two year old, red-blooded male with a sex drive running on all eight cylinders. Only an asshole like Mickey would send a sexy redhead with a chip on her shoulder at least as notable as her spectacular rack to stand over me for the next few months while I try to concentrate on training for a fight.”
Kayla has secrets, but there’s something about Matty that makes her want to tell them to him. But when Mickey puts her in a position that will break the man she’s falling for, what will she do? I can’t wait for book two so I can find out the answer to that question.
Matty has given Kayla something no one could and something she never thought she’d experience. Maybe it’ll be enough for her to follow her own path. Maybe Matty won’t be the only one who will have to choose.
My Favorite Moment: When Matty tried to end the meeting with Kayla at his gym. She wasn’t leaving without a fight…literally.
“This time, she went balls out and whipped off a neat roundhouse kick that, even though I dodged at the last second, hit me pretty square in the kidney.”
**4-4.5 stars** This serial series is so good! Christine always has me hooked from the first page. After reading the first 3 books/parts of "Fix You: Bash & Olivia", I was really looking forward to Matty's story (Bash's brother) and this first part definitely has me impatiently waiting for the rest of his and Kayla's story. Your heart hurts for these two characters and their painful pasts and the secrets that threaten to tear them apart...So glad I don't have to wait too long for part 2! I would definitely suggest reading Fix You: Bash & Olivia (parts 1-3) before Matty's story because you get the back story & set-up for his books and also because it's so worth reading! Part one of Bash & Olivia's story is currently free too! http://www.amazon.com/Fix-You-Olivia-...http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/fix-y...
Loved Kayla, I just love kickass girls. I mean, she can literally kick you ass, lol.
I wasn't much of a fan of Matty before (not a bad guy, but sometimes I wanted to slap him), but from his POV, I can understand him and his actions so much more. He's not so bad.
Another nice start by Christine Bell with Matty's story. I don't know how she does it, but CB really packs a lot into her serial installments and leaves you wanting the next installment like now. Can't wait to read more.
Trust Me is the first book in Matty and Kayla's story, I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next book to be released. Another great read by Christine Bell.
An intriguing, suspenseful and heartfelt journey to go on with Matty and Kayla. These McDaniels brother are very interesting men who are a little grouchy and broody but they have ooey gooey centers. Kayla was a perfect match for Matty. I loved this story.
I liked this book and these characters. I love how she is a strong female character and he is equally as strong male lead. It left me wanting the rest of the story
The story is cute. Matty is forced into working for Mickey Flynn as an MMA fighter. Kayla has been assigned as his manager even though she has never done it before. They both have a tone of baggage in their pasts. Matty isn't happy that Kayla is someone who works for Mickey because he hates him. Kayla is being forced to make choices based on Mickey's whims.
I didn't get sucked in as much with this book as I did with Fix You. Both characters have a chip on their shoulder and maybe I just didn't have the same empathy as I did for the characters in the first book where they had a true antagonist.
Abosolutely loving the pace of this series. Just when I was still hungover Bash and Olivia, Matty and Kayla surprises me. Their story is an interesting one. Matty's is similar to his younger brother's. I am especially intrigued by Kayla's personal issue with her sexuality. Of all the books I've read I am surprised that I haven't come across a character with this issue. I do like where this is going and if it is anything like the Fix Me series, I'm in for a real treat.
Short but alright. I felt like I was missing something because they went from meeting to nicknames and not being able to stop thinking about each other seems like in a couple sentences. Maybe I need to read the Fix Me series to get caught up because this felt like I was missing something. Either way not bad for short read but if they are this short not worth more than .99.
Great start to Matty and Kayla's story. I can't wait for the next piece. My heart is already breaking for Matty. He is like a big teddy bear even though he wants to be seen as a tough guy; he is just too sweet!
Hymmmm let me start by saying that this book was good but I just love Bash more lol But Matty was a really loyal and very protective brother. I loved seeing everybody in the book again. And new people also
Again I love these McDaniel brothers!! Matty and Kayla story gets off to a rocky start. Can he get past the fact that she is connected to Mickey?? Can't wait to read the next installment to see what happens!
I am so hooked on these brothers now. I read all three books in 3 days. They are not long but I could not put them down. I have already started on the next set that us Reids story. (If you are sensitive to language, this might not be for you)
