Secret Desires #3

Two Week Seduction

Rate this book
A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

She’s going to break all of his rules…

Tech Sergeant John O’Donnell was never fond of his hometown. Too many reminders of poverty, his rocky family life, and the girl he was never allowed to have. Now he has exactly two weeks to sort out his mother's finances before he heads back overseas. Two weeks that he's determined to spend as far from his best friend’s little sister as possible.

Alea Heling has a naughty streak a mile wide. Sweet and simple? Boring. She’s been craving a bad boy like John since their wild days together in high school, and this time, she’s not taking no for an answer. But with every panty-meltingly hot encounter, Alea forgets one hard, cold reality—this soldier won't let a fortnight turn into forever...and forever might be exactly what they both need.

She liked it hard and fast. Trouble was, so did he. And when two people liked it wild, things got out of control.

What an awesomely pleasant surprise this book turned out to be. I was a tad hesitant going into this book as the last one I read by this author I DNF'd

Oops? But that book was a case of 'not for me', and I'm so glad I gave this author another shot since I am absolutely eating my words right now. I really enjoyed the hell out of this book. Kathy Lyons wrote a sexy and entertaining story and also managed to give the reader one of the best confident heroines I've read.

Alea Heling is not a good little girl. She may be a high school teacher by day, but her naughty streak runs a mile wide. Alea has also had the hots for her older brother's best friend for years. Only problem is, he doesn't seem to return her sentiments. But Alea is not the 16 year old girl that she used to be the last time John not so eloquently rejected her. And now that John is back on leave from his last tour in Afghanistan, there's no better time to take off where they last left off; seduce him into finally giving in.

With heroine like Alea, I always have the fear that she would come off as brash. That's typically been the case for me in many of the books I've read with confident heroines that do the seducing. I was so happy that was not the case here. I adored Alea. She was such an endearing and funny character. She had a bit of a dual personality going on with her school teacher persona and wild bad girl. I loved it! And when the bad girl finally comes out...let's just say poor John never stood a chance.

John was absolutely delicious. He was this perfect brooding alpha male. He's been attracted to Alea for years, unbeknownst to her. But with him being the boy from the wrong side of the tracks and Alea being from an influential rich family of lawyers, he's never felt good enough. But when Alea finally reveals the bad girl she's been hiding under the long skirts and pearls? Game over.

I couldn't get enough of the banter between these two. This book had one of the most fun and sexual innuendo filled games of pool I've ever read.
Looks like your hype is a little overinflated."
"Maybe. And maybe I like it slow and thorough."
"Sometimes slow is just boring." Then she set down her stick leaned over enough to give him a full view of her gorgeous ass, and shot. Perfect. Her ass, not her shot. The ball actually spun a little wide, but it still made it in.
"Careful," he said. "Looks like you're heavy-handed on the stick."
"Some guys like if firm."
"And sometimes thrust is powerful enough."

While Alea may have been the agressor in the beginning, that's not to say John was outdone. Ooooh no. When he finally gives into the chemistry between them and lets loose that delicious dirty talk? Holy panty change, batman!
As soon as we get to your house, I'm going to rip your panties off. Then I'm going to toss you onto your back and eat you until you scream. And while you're thrashing beneath me, I'm going to throw your legs over my shoulders. I'm going to finger you until you come around my hand."

"Jesus," she gasped, her mind reeling. "When do I get to play?"
"When I slam my dick into you all the way to the hilt. You can claw the hell out of my back while I ride you. And when you're done coming from that, I'm going to tie you down and do it all over again."

Simply put, I loved it. The cute and sexy banter between them. The smokin' hot sex scenes. The story. Everything.

The one thing that I really appreciate was that the author didn't throw in any of that typical drama towards the end. Yes both John and Alea had some things that they needed to overcome, but it had a natural flow to it with no drama interruptions.

I really hope that this will be a series, as I'd love to get a book for Alea's brother, Sam, next.

4 -"Do military men do it with their boots on?" Stars!

Two Week Seduction; certainly seduced me and it definitely didn’t take two weeks to do it! I cannot recommend this book highly enough; it had the right amounts of dirty, sexy and romance in it, and kept me entertained right up to its adorable ending.

I love the brothers best friend trope, and I think this is probably one of the best books I have read in a while that covers this theme. Alea comes from a wealthy background; John’s background is the total opposite. This is something which he has frequently been reminded of when spending time with Alea’s brother Sam and her family. It doesn’t help that he also has a serious lack of belief in his own self worth, so he thinks Alea can do much better for herself, than end up with a guy like him.

She was the one thing he could never have.

Alea has waited 10 years for her chance with John, and after her first attempt to seduce him ended up with a slap on the bum and her brother taking her home as a teenager, she is determined not to fail this time, even if they do only have two weeks together.

”Intentions don't matter. Actions do.”

I love John O’Donnell, he is downright dirty, his words (and actions) left me hot under the collar on more than one occasion whilst reading this book.

”I’m going to be quiet now. But you feel free to scream anything you want.”

Sorry did I mention he is a dirty, dirty boy!!

”I’m going to lay you on my hand as I finger you. Then spread your legs and bury myself so deep you’ll taste me as we come.”

What made the book even more entertaining for me though was the fact that Alea was just as dirty as John was. Forget the prim, proper little rich girl, John thinks she is. Alea has kept her true self hidden from John and everyone else, so when he gets a taste of the real Alea, he finds it increasingly difficult to keep his distance.

”When we get to my apartment, I’m going to tie you up and beat the shit out of you.”

This is my first book from this author, it won’t be my last. Kathy Lyons certainly knows how to put filthy and dirty together in to one smoking, hot, leave you panting for more package. I cannot wait to see what she delivers up for us next.

His breath was hot against her ear and her whole backside felt like it was going up in flames. He was so big, and she just went liquid.

I really liked this story of childhood love for her big brothers best friend.

Alea Heling was raised in a comfortable setting, yet expectations were high. Most of her memories included John O’Donnell. The madness of their youth spanned their school years, and consisted of her hanging out with him and her brother. She’d always been a bit of a provocative dresser, but one night she was frogmarched home by John for doing an excellent impression of a harlot.

John O’Donnell had had a pitiful upbringing. From a confidence battering father, to a struggling, penniless mother trying to make ends meet for himself and his older sisters, amongst the shadier part of town.

John’s affections had never wandered far from Alea, but she was out of his reach for a number of reasons.

”She felt like all the best parts of his childhood”

As soon as he could, he enlisted in the Air Force, and escaped. That was a decade ago, and now he was back for two weeks to help sort out his Mother’s finances, following the fall out from his Father’s death. He wasn’t happy to be home, he didn’t want the negative reminders, and he didn’t want to see a certain red flash-haired siren.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two long lost friends recapture their feisty banter, with their immediate chemistry bubbling very near to the surface. I was engaged with their sensual, dirty small talk, and I was totally glued to their fast and furious nekkid wrestling!

”She wasn’t going to die from any military manoeuvre here. She was going to combust from lust.”

It was a story of realisation, of having that confidence to take a chance, and of naked men in boots…oh yes, love that visual!

I read the sample first to see if I was going to like this one. It seemed promising so I got the full version. Then things just didn’t go where I wanted them to go. Alea and John were fine. Alea’s parents are elitist cliches. The military aspect was not done as well as it could have been. Seriously, what’s wrong with a career in the military? John liked what he did and he was good at it. I guess he wanted Alea more so he left everything for her. I felt pretty blah about this one.

Combine a sassy kick-ass lady who is naughty but nice with a delectable Air Force Sergeant who has a heart of gold, a slightly dirty way with words and an insecure streak that makes you want to just cuddle him (amongst many other things), and Two Week Seduction is a fabulous addition to the Brazen family.

Alea Heling may be the sensible teacher on the outside, but the woman is as fiery as the red streak in her hair, preferring leather & lace to the twin-set & pearls. And for 10 years she has held a rather large torch for John O’Donnell, her brother's best friend. When John returns home from duty, he plans to keep away from the one woman he could never have, only said woman has other ideas. There's no denying their attraction, question is, can Alea convince her boot-wearing bed-shaking bad-boy that he is worthy of her love?

“You can claw the hell out of my back while I ride you. And when you’re done coming from that, I’m going to tie you down and do it all over again.”

I found nothing unlikeable about this couple. Their chemistry burned bright from the off, their journey was captivating but fairly simple and their character traits surprised me; I loved Alea's determination & honesty and John's sweet side and they may be opposites in terms of upbringing (I wanted to throttle her parents, her mother...urghh) but in the bedroom they are perfectly compatible and the way they understand one another is heart-warming, touching and at times feisty.

In comparison to Kathy Lyons' previous Brazen offering, which was marginally likeable with it's slightly unconventional paranormal plot line, this wipes the floor with it and she's delivered a sexy romance which hits all the right spots. I loved it and needless to say, I recommend.

John is home on a 2 week stateside visit to help his mother get things organised after his father passed away. He is a Tech Sergeant for the US Air force and he loves his job. He hates the fact that he is home because it is a constant reminder to him of how he used to live and where his place is in life. Especially when he is around Sam his best friend and his sister Alea.

John has always liked the feisty wild child with the streak of red in her hair, but he knows that he is not good enough for her. Alea has had a crush and been in love with John and she has been waiting for her opportunity for him to notice her. She is determined to do what ever she has to on his 2 week visit to get him to see her for who she is.

When these 2 finally give in to all their pent up sexual desire, it is explosive enough to heat up your kindle and leave you panting for more.

This is a great little story of friends to lovers, and about learning to love and accept yourself for who you are...

Two Week Seduction is about an attraction that has been on hold for 10 years. John took off for the Air Force along with Sam, his best friend, who also happens to be Alea’s older protective brother. Before John and Sam joined the Air Force, Sam noticed John’s and Alea’s attraction. He had warned John to stay away from Alea, who at that time was only 16 years old and much too young for any relationship. While John was in the Air Force, he never forgot Alea and would fantasize about her all the time. Alea also held onto to her feelings for John while he was away. She had many day dreams of hooking up with John and she could hardly wait until the day he would finally come home.

It’s been 10 years and John is coming home on leave for 2 weeks. Alea is helping John’s mother plan his welcome home surprise party. She wants to make sure that she is there for his arrival. John, on the other hand, just wants to stay away from Alea because he feels he is not good enough for her. Well, Alea pulls out all the stops. She knows that John is attracted to her. She’s not going to stop until she’s had John hard and fast, wearing nothing but his boots.

I absolutely LOVED both Alea and John. They were perfect for each other and Alea knew it way back when she was just a teenager. John, on the other hand, had always thought that she was too good for the likes of him. She came from money after all, while his family just barely scraped by. It was wonderful experiencing the chemistry between these two. I also enjoyed reading how much John struggled with his true feelings for Alea. Another plus for this read was that there was plenty of humor added. The banter between them throughout was hysterical to read, I loved every moment.

The heat level was VERY high. OH YEAH! Alea did get to have John hard and fast with him wearing only his boots. As a matter of fact, she had him in all sorts of positions as this story continued. These scenes SCORCHED the pages and had me just as turned on as they were while reading them.

The one thing that bugged me a bit was the ending. I felt it should have continued on just a bit longer and once again, no epilogue! I have to add there is no need to fear, Two Week Seduction does end on a happy note, I just wanted more.

Overall, this was a fun sizzling read with great characters and a really good story line to boot. I most DEFINITELY plan on reading more of Kathy Lyon’s books in the future.

This was a very hot and steamy read.
Alea has been in love with John since she was 16, and now is her chance to seduce him. He is home on a 2 week leave from the Air Force. John has always had the hots for Alea, but he feels he is all wrong for her. She comes from a rich family and his is poor, plus her brother (his best friend) had warned him off when they were teens.
Alea keeps putting herself in his view whenever they are in the same place. She just wants him to notice her. But he keeps brushing her off.
But she finally gets him, when at a bar playing pool. After that, look out things are so hot and steamy between the two of them, it will burn up your kindle!!
The author, as always writes a very good story. You could almost be right there or you could be Alea. And being Alea wouldn't be such a bad thing if it meant having John too!
John though likes things nice and orderly, and has to "see" things- its hard to just make a split decision. He has a hard time following his gut/heart. He also has a hard time with a real conversation, Alea says its like pulling teeth.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It shows the rich life and the not so privileged life.

This was a sweet, second chance love story. He's a military man and a dirty talker. Personally I prefer stories where the man is doing the chasing and in this it's the woman chasing him, so I didn't love it but it was a quick, hot and easy read.

Two-week seduction is a fairly fun and quick read. Alea has been in love with her brother's friend John since they were sixteen years old. Now he's finally back for two weeks and she's determined to see if there can really be something between them. John has also always had feelings for her, but as he's convinced that he's just not good enough for her, he's done his best to keep her away.
I enjoyed the interaction between Alea and John. It's clear that they are really into one another, although he does his best not to let things happen. There is a little bit of silliness towards the beginning where they try and wind one another up at a bar, but it was just that, a bit of silliness and didn't detract from the story.
My only complaint would be that this was quite a short read. Once they've decided to give things a go, everything moves quite fast and the obstacles that they were facing seem to get swept out of the way quite easily. I usually prefer a little bit more depth around that kind of thing. This was a fun and quick read though, so it doesn't really matter.

Alea has been lusting for John since she was sixteen years old. She once made a move and was rejected. Now that he is back after ten years in the army she decides to make one more shot at John. What Alea doesn't know is that John has been lusting for her too. Alea has been the forbidden fruit for Kohn. her brother has warned him off and he feels their lives and financial situations are too different for it to work. He is not worthy of her, but he can't help himself. One night is all they can have. Alea wants more but John doesn't see how it can work. Will Alea be able to convince John she is the one for him and he is the one for her?
I like how this steamy story was not just about John and Alea becoming a couple but them finding out what they want for their future. Does Alea want to follow in her family footsteps and become a lawyer or follow her passion of teaching? John has to figure out he is not like his father or as worthless as his father said her was and what does he want for his future. Through the exploration of their feelings for each other they are also able to find themselves.

This is my favorite trope.

Alea and John have been dancing around each other for years. Alea let her feelings be knowing years ago but John knew that his upbringing and being her older brothers best friend wouldn't allow them to be together.

Alea waited years for John to come around. He was home on leave and she planned on taking action. I loved the guts she showed at the bar and just how grown up she was showing John she was.

John broke by heart in this book. He was trying to be so many things to so many people that he had lost himself and what he wanted. He also felt like he didn't measure up.

The sexy times were out of this world when these two finally got together.

I've read a few Entangled Brazen novels, so I was looking forward to this, but it missed the mark for me. I know these are meant to be quick reads, but the plot had some severe holes. That being said, I know plot isn't necessarily the main rationale for picking these up; the hookup scenes were steamy, but I didn't quite buy the romance between the leads. The backstory felt way too "instalove" and somehow sustained over a decade?

I'll definitely check out more from this publisher, but maybe not from this author.

I love a little sister ad big brother best friend romances. I always wished I had a big brother and get to date his friends. Sadly, I don't have a brother.

Alea has been in love with John since she was 16, It is not a hidden secret. Now he is home for 2 weeks and she see her opportunity to make her move. It is a game of will they or won't they, John has had hidden feelings for Alea as well. But she is his best friend's little sister. He doesn't want to ruin anything interns of friendship. Plus, he is a strong military man.

It was a fun and light beach read for me.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

Two Week Seduction by Kathy Lyons got my attention first with its sexy cover and then with its blurb. This is a little sister and brother's best friend story which happens to be my favorite trope, so of course I had to read it. Throw in a sexy man in uniform and I couldn't resist. This story had its cute and sexy moments, but it also had some really cheesy and corny ones as well. It was a quick and easy read, but I had some issues with it.

Alea Heling has wanted her brother's best friend John O'Donnell since high school. He never seemed to notice her except for the one time she tried to dress sexy for him and he rejected her. Now years later when he is home on leave, she decides to be exactly what he is looking for. She trades in her sexy and bold clothes for her more understated teacher clothes. She is determined to convince him to give her a chance and see where things between them could go. John has no intention of seeing Alea while he is in town, but when he arrives home to a welcome home party he quickly realizes that he has no choice. The more they are around each other the more the attraction between them grows. John has always wanted Alea but stayed away because of her brother and because he always felt she was too good for him. He has worked hard to provide for his mother and sisters, but it will never be enough for Alea and what she is used to coming from with her family. But Alea is also struggling with whether to pursue a career that her family has pushed her into and living the life she has come to love. Can these two have a shot together or will their differences be too much for them to overcome.

I liked John, but I didn't really love him. For some reason I just never really connected with him or Alea. I thought that he was sweet and hardworking, and that he was good with his family. But I thought that he let his family run his life too much and that he was a bit too insecure about his station in life. He had worked hard and made it to a successful career, and yet he still thought that he wasn't good enough and that he was beneath Alea's family. It just kind of turned me off to his character. A military man is usually confident to the point of cocky, and I just never got that with him. Alea was also hard for me to connect to and I just didn't understand her character. She was bold and confident at times, challenging men to games of pool and wearing daring clothes. But then she felt like she couldn't be herself and had to alter her looks and personality in order to land John. I just couldn't get behind her changing herself for a guy and it was pretty much over before it began since that is the way this book started. I thought that they had some chemistry together and that they had a good sort of friendship having known each other for years. But I didn't really ever see the love between them or connection. It just never really clicked for me for some reason and I was left wanting more when it came to their relationship. I think part of what hurt it was that even though they knew each other, they had never really been together or had a strong relationship before. They hardly spoke, and the only reason he even had her phone number was that his mom had given it to him. It just didn't seem to really develop for me.

I also felt like this one was just sort of cliche and predictable. It was like everything that happened was straight out of how to write a romance. There was nothing new or different here, and I just felt like it was a bit too corny at times. The ending was especially hard to get behind. It was too sweet and cutesy for me, and honestly it felt pretty unbelievable. I am not an expert in military matters, but it just seemed as though things were too easily altered and I just couldn't get behind how neatly everything was tied up at the end. I think that this could have been a great story and showed promise, but overall I was disappointed with this one. I also felt that it was a little light on the action and less sexy than what I have come to expect from Entangled's Brazen line. I think that if you are looking for a cute story with a happy ending that you might give this one a shot. This one just wasn't for me and I thought that it was less than what I had been hoping for.

DAWN'S REVIEW

Two Week Seduction:

Sooo, I liked the cutesiness of this book. It made me feel all girly inside. And I said “aww” a couple of times.

So in this book we meet Alea (love her) she’s vulnerable when it comes to the man she loves, yet strong enough to handle the people around her, all while still trying to make her family happy. While making her family happy, she kind of loses herself in the process. She’s got a career, but she’s convinced herself that she’s not happy with it.. because her parents want her to be doing something else.

Then there is John. Ohhh, John. Poor damaged John. The object of Alea’s obsession since she was 16. John didn’t have an ideal childhood, and joined the Air Force after high school with his best friend, which happens to be Alea’s brother.

When John comes home on leave to help his mother out, he runs into Alea. He tries to avoid her, thinking he isn't good enough for her. But that all changes the night he see’s her out “letting her hair down”.

Let me just say after that, this book picked up for me. Mainly because of the sex. It was pretty hot. There is this one scene, where they’re.. and they … and BAM instafucking! It was great. I mean, I kind of knew that was going to happen, but it was still good. I mean, when John isn’t fighting his demons and second guessing everything he does with regards to Alea, you can totally see the love and admiration he has for her. You can almost see how he looks at her with that twinkle in his eye.

I totally think this could be made into an LMN movie. I’d totally watch it. I also like the way she told him she loved him. Pretty much put it in layman's terms, like bitch slapped him with it. BAM.. BITCH I LOVE YOU. And if you can't tell that I love you and how much then… well let me show you with my pimp slap.

And the end, it was cute. He say’s it back. They didn't fuck, but they hinted about getting out of there so they could knock boots. The horizontal shuffle. Mattress mambo. Hop on a good foot and do the bad thing. Get jiggy with it (nah nah na na nah). Insert rod A into slot B….

You get the idea, I hope. If not you’re fucking stupid.

So, I will tell you this story is a quick read. I think I finished it in maybe 2 hours.. 3 at most. So, I’ll recommend you read the book. I mean, if you want a quick, LMN style, light and vanilla read... Then this is the book for you.

I’m outty! Love, peace and chicken grease!

This was an EXTREMELY good book/novella. It's advertised as a book, but it felt short enough to be a novella. It's less than 200 pages. Either way, it was fantastic. Alea and John are such wonderful characters. I cared about both of them immediately and couldn't help but want good things for them!

Alea, fighting to get from under the family tradition of law school, is a great character. She is fun, sassy, strong, sexy, and just an all around well developed female lead. I really connected with her through this story, especially when it came to trying to figure out her future without the voices of her family. She just wanted to be happy.

John, a tech sergeant, is a great male lead with his own issues to deal with. His family, his self-imposed shortcomings, his future plans, and his evergrowing attraction to Alea. He's such a decent guy. And watching him grow into someone even better than he was at the beginning was very satisfying. I loved watching his and Alea's relationship.

There weren't too many supporting characters in this book, with the exception of Alea's brother, Sam, who really didn't do much for me. He wasn't a bad character at all, but I just think he wasn't utilized as well as he could have been use. But that's not really a huge concern. He didn't add to or take away from the story.

I really appreciate Lyon's decision to keep the plot and the world builing simple, especially considering how short this book is. The story is definitely character driven. Everything that happened was dependent upon the characters and their decisions of how to proceed in various situations. Alea's struggle to come out from under her mother's thumb impacting her potential relationship with John; but the bigger issue was John's insecurities. He needed to come to grips with who he was as a human being before he could even begin to have a relationship/future with Alea.

Their conversations, interactions, etc. were perfection. It was a constant testimony to how strong of a character I think Alea was. She handled John with such a grace. One that I rarely see in New Adult fiction. It was refreshing.

The sexy times were awesome. Very satisfying and not too much. Not too cheesy or over the top. Just enough to make you smile. Those scenes, in my opinion, made the story that much better; but she was so good at building a great story, they honestly weren't necessary to the plot at all. But I loved every moment of it.

Overall, this is one story that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a feel good read. A pick me up. Or something quick. It's a very good "feels" story, in my opinion.

Two Week Seduction by Kathy Lyons was a fun and light read. This is what I would call beachside reading. It’s the perfect book to escape to by the beach. The story is light and fun and so are the characters. I was really interested in this book because of the plot. Alea Heling and Tech Sergeant John O’Donnell seemed to have unfinished business between them and I wanted to find out how they resolved their issues.
Alea always had a crush on her brother’s friend, John. When she decided to act on her attraction he walked away from her. Alea was never able to get over the rejection. When John comes home to help out his widowed mom she sees it as an opportunity to have a second chance with John.
John was a great character. He was a little short fused but he really was a good guy. He had a tough childhood with his father who was abusive and an alcoholic. When John left to enlist in the services he and his father argued. That was the last time he saw his father alive. Now he is back to his home town but he is not happy with all the memories that come back. These memories include Alea. He is attracted to Alea but out of loyalty to his friend he knows that he can’t act on his feelings for her. He knows that he is only home temporarily and then he will be back to his base.
Usually when I read a romance novel I either like both main characters or I like the heroine more but with this book I really liked John. He was an honorable and good guy. He has his ghost to deal with and his temper but he is healing form his past. Alea was a harder character to understand. One minute she is dressed as a librarian and the next she is wearing thigh-high boots and playing pool in a bar with a group of men. She is a teacher but has applied to law school and received acceptance. She also has an alter ego that she lets lose once in a while. I think I would have liked her more if she stayed within one character. At the beginning she is helping John’s mother with his welcome home party the next she is deciding how to seduce him.
Overall, this was a fun and light read. Both characters had great chemistry and they were enjoyable. They were well matched because Alea knew how to handle herself and John as well. I recommend this story if you’re looking for a fun couple who are trying to play a game of cat and mouse, although it’s never clear just who the mouse is! Fun read!
